The RA-N control valve is designed for use in two-pipe pump water heating systems.
RA-N is equipped with a built-in device for preliminary (installation) adjustment of its throughput within the following range: K = 0.04–0.73 m3/h - for valves DN = 15 mm;
RA-N valves can be combined with all thermostatic elements of the RA and RAX series, as well as with the TWA-A thermoelectric actuator.
To identify RA-N valves, their protective caps are painted red. The protective cap must not be used to block the flow of coolant through the heating appliance. To do this, use the handle (code number 013G3300).
Valve bodies are made of pure brass with nickel plating
The technical characteristics of RA-NCX valves in combination with thermostatic elements of the RA and RAX series comply with European standards EN 215-1 and Russian GOST 30815-2002, and the connecting thread size complies with HD 1215 (BS 6284 1984).
All radiator thermostats manufactured by Danfoss are manufactured in factories certified to ISO 9000 (BS 5750).
To prevent deposits and corrosion, valves of RA-NCX thermostats should be used in water heating systems where the coolant meets the requirements of the Rules for the Technical Operation of Electric Power Plants and Networks of the Russian Federation. In other cases, you must contact Danfoss. It is not recommended to use compositions containing petroleum products (mineral oils) to lubricate valve parts.
The low noise characteristics of the valve are especially important for the consumer. Therefore, Danfoss valves are equipped with a specially designed flow stabilizer, which allows them to operate absolutely silently even at high pressure drops.
“Sticking” is the sticking of the valve cone to the seat due to prolonged contact when the valve is closed. For liquid-filled bellows, the closing force is extremely high. When using Danfoss thermostats with gas filling, there is practically no increase in the closing force with increasing temperature, since in this case all the gas condensate evaporates. This, as well as the careful selection of materials for the valve cone and seat, made of a special alloy of glass and plastic, reduces the possibility of “sticking” to a minimum.
Danfoss RA valves are optimized for working with gas-filled thermostatic elements and therefore their rod stroke is increased by 1.5 times: from 0.46 mm (for liquid thermoelements) to 0.74 mm.
Greater stem movement and larger valve flow area reduce the likelihood of valve clogging.
Danfoss RA valves have a single performance adjustment window, with a gradually increasing cross-section.
In valves from other manufacturers, the setting window is a set of round holes of different sections. If dirt clogs such a round hole, disassembly is required to clean the valve. Whereas for a Danfoss valve in such a situation, it is enough to turn the adjustment ring - without disassembling the valve and without using any tools.
No special tools are required to adjust Danfoss RA valves to radiator performance.
Just lift and turn the adjustment ring. The positions of the adjustment ring are marked with numbers from 1 to 7, the fully open position is indicated by the letter N. So the adjustment is easy not only to carry out, but also to check.
The RA valve adjustment ring has 14 precise fixed flow positions. Many other manufacturers offer no more than 6 drills/holes and therefore only 6 possible throughputs.
When replacing the stuffing box, there is no need to disconnect the valve and empty the system - the replacement can be done under pressure.
Control valves RA-N and RA-NCX The previous area of application is intended for use in two-pipe pump water heating systems.
RA-N is equipped with a built-in device for pre-setting (installation) its throughput within the following ranges:
Kv = 0.04–0.56 m3/h - for valves DN=10 mm;
Kv = 0.04–0.73 m3/h - for valves DN=15 mm;
Kv = 0.10–1.04 m3/h - for valves DN=20 and 25 mm.
Valves RA-N and RA-NCX can be combined with all thermostatic elements of the series
RA, RAW and RAX, as well as with thermoelectric actuator TWA-A.
To identify the RA-N and RA-NCX valves, their protective caps are painted red. The protective cap must not be used to block the flow of coolant through the heating appliance. Therefore, the handle (code no. 013G3300) must be used.
Valve bodies are made of pure brass, nickel plated (RA-N) or chrome plated (RA-NCX).

Device
The radiator thermostat consists of two parts: a universal thermostatic element of the RA series and a control valve with presetting RA-N. The thermostatic element and control valve must be ordered separately. The terminal connection together with the hexagon locking screw guarantees a simple and reliable connection between the thermocouple and the valve. The packing can be replaced without emptying and
stopping the heating system.

Thermostatic valve with increased capacity, type RA-G, is intended for use in pump single-pipe water heating systems. They can also be used in two-pipe gravity systems.
Thermostatic valves type RA-G have fixed capacity values.
All thermostatic valves of type RA-G can be used with any thermostatic elements of the RA, RAW, RAX series or thermoelectric actuators TWA-A. For identification, type RA-G valves are supplied with gray protective caps.
The cap should not be used to block the regulated medium. For these purposes, you should use a special metal
handle (code number 013G3300).
The pressure rod in the stuffing box seal is made of chrome-plated steel and does not require lubrication throughout the life of the valve.
All thermostatic valves type RA-G can be used with the entire list of compression fittings for copper pipes (information
about fittings on request). To prevent deposits and corrosion, type RA-G valves should be used in water heating systems where the coolant meets the requirements of the Rules for the Technical Operation of Electric Power Plants and Heat Networks of the Russian Federation.

Thermostatic element Living Eco type
Thermostatic element of the Living Eco type (thermoelement) is a programmable microprocessor temperature controller with autonomous power supply,
designed to maintain a given air temperature, mainly in residential buildings served by a water heating system.
The Living Eco thermocouple contains programs P0, P1 and P2, which allow you to change and maintain the room temperature at different times of the day. The Living Eco thermocouple is used with all Danfoss RA series valves, also with valves with M30×1.5 connection (Heimeier, Oventrop, MNG). Adapter included.

The control system of the Living Eco thermostatic element is an electro-mechanical PID controller that changes the position of the rod in proportion to the change in room temperature. The stepper motor provides silent, precise control.
Regulation is carried out according to three programs with which the thermocouple is equipped:
- P0 – maintaining the set temperature throughout the day,
- P1 and P2 – reduction of room temperature at certain periods of time in order to save energy.
The thermocouple type Living Eco is part of the thermostat, the other part is a control valve with pre-set capacity type RA-N (for two-pipe heating systems) or a valve with increased flow capacity type RA-G (for one-pipe system).
