How to connect countertop dishwashers. Dishwasher - how to integrate it into a finished kitchen yourself? Everything useful about sewerage -

Almost any homeowner who has the necessary information can install a dishwasher with their own hands. There are several nuances when connecting equipment to the water supply, sewerage and electricity systems, since the slightest mistake can shorten the life of the dishwasher.

Selection of materials and tools for work

Before connecting the dishwasher, you should prepare the tools necessary to install the unit to the communications. During the work, you may need some consumables, the quantity of which must be determined in advance.

To install the dishwasher yourself, you will need a standard set of the following parts and materials:

  • siphon for water drainage. If you need to install a dishwasher together with a washing machine, then you need to take a siphon with two fittings;
  • ¾" diameter ball valve;
  • ¾" brass or bronze tee. It is not recommended to purchase a silumin product, since this material is susceptible to crystalline corrosion, causing brittleness;
  • FUM tape;
  • additional metal-plastic henka;
  • works;
  • filter for deep water purification;
  • grounded socket;
  • additional electrical wire if the outlet is located at a distance and you need to install a new power line from the distribution panel.

To install your dishwasher, you may need long hoses to drain and inlet water from the pipes. Sometimes the manufacturer equips the unit with short hoses that are not suitable for the size of a particular room and are missing from the connection point with the water supply and sewerage system. Before, you need to measure the distance from the installation site of the unit to the installation point.

Required tools to install the dishwasher:

1. shaped screwdriver;

3. electric drill;

4. pliers;

5. screwdriver with a set of bits;

6. scissors for cutting metal;

8. silicone gun;

9. clamps;

10. adjustable wrenches;

11. level for construction work;

12. rags for cleaning pipes;

13. indicator screwdriver for determining the current phase.

Having selected the necessary tools, parts and consumables, owners proceed to choosing a suitable place to connect the dishwasher.

Choosing a location for the dishwasher

Any dishwasher model will help save time and water. This unit is able to recoup its cost within several years of operation. Many homeowners believe that a dishwasher is a must-have in a modern kitchen. Proper installation of equipment will help extend its service life and avoid leaks from water and sewer pipes.

There are 3 types of dishwashers:

1. built-in;

2. desktop;

3. free-standing.

Stand-alone units simply need to be connected to the water supply, sewerage and electrical network pipes. It can be connected as a separate module or placed in a kitchen unit. To place appliances in the kitchen without any difficulties, you need to measure the parameters of the room and the distance between the sink and the furniture in advance.

Built-in models of the unit must correspond in size to the dimensions of the furniture in the kitchen. If you plan to purchase a set for the room, then you need to ensure that it has a special niche in which the dishwasher is installed. The section can be located under the countertop (work surface), sink or hob. If it is convenient for the owner of the room, the dishwasher can be installed in the kitchen cabinet.

The distance to the sewer pipes should be no more than 1.5 m. If it exceeds the permissible norm, the instrument pump will be subject to increased load and will fail ahead of schedule. When it is not possible to install at the required distance, you should consider placing the unit in the bathroom.

The location for installing the equipment should be chosen next to the outlet; accordingly, in this case, connecting the dishwasher is more convenient and easier.

Some manufacturers (for example, Bosch) produce tabletop models of dishwashers. Their installation is simpler compared to large equipment. For small dishwashers there is no need to make a drainage structure. To drain the water, just fix the hose in the sink. For a cramped kitchen furnished with old-style furniture, installing a dishwasher on a countertop is most suitable.

There are several tips that you can follow to easily connect your dishwasher and extend the life of the unit:

  • installing a drain hose in the sink greatly simplifies the installation process, but this method is not safe. The risk is that a poorly secured tube can slip out of the sink and flood the floor;
  • complex equipment requires compliance with the rules of connection and installation. The position of the machine must be checked using a level so that the slope does not exceed 2 degrees;
  • Before purchasing a unit, you must compare the housing dimensions with the dimensions of the space where installation is planned. Some manufacturers produce non-standard models, the placement of which poses difficulties;
  • When making connections, you must follow safety regulations. Do not connect the grounding contact to water and gas pipes. Grounding is connected to the shield in the grounding niche;
  • There should be a distance of 5 cm or more between the rear surface of the unit and the wall of the room. The gap is necessary for free air circulation;
  • Among the components supplied with the equipment, there must be instructions and a connection diagram for the dishwasher. Before work, you need to study the documentation, because the assembly conditions for models of different brands may differ;
  • It is not recommended to use extension cords (surge protectors), as they often cause fires. If possible, then it is necessary to install a new line of electrical wires;
  • if there is space for a dishwasher only near the electric stove, refrigerator and other high-power electrical appliances, then a separate line must be made for the unit. This measure will relieve the outlet located nearby from overload;
  • if it is impossible to extend sewer and water pipes, then the equipment is placed near the sink;
  • to ensure correct operation of the device and avoid possible leaks, the installation site must be level;
  • when mounted on a plinth, the latter must be level;
  • when placing the device next to heating devices (gas and electric stoves, fireplaces, etc.), you need to leave a distance of 15-40 cm between them. The distance will protect the machine from overheating;
  • the mounting of the built-in unit must be reinforced. If the wall of the cabinet where the equipment will be located is weak, then its rigidity should be increased.

Installation procedure

To make a connection to the communications of a Bosch dishwasher or a model from another manufacturer with your own hands, you should first study the instructions. If the installation work is done poorly, the defect may appear immediately or after a few days.

General sequence of work for installing and connecting the unit:

1. connecting the hose to the drain siphon (fitting). In this case, the hose needs to be given two bends. The first deflection is at the base of the unit, the second is at the siphon. The resulting elbow will prevent the unpleasant odor from the sewer pipes from entering the dishwasher. This effective method will prevent the “siphon effect” from occurring;

Unskilled technicians suggest simply pulling the drain hose onto the siphon without securing it. This method can lead to flooding because the flow of draining water is strong enough to tear off the hose. To avoid an accident, the connection between the tube and the siphon is secured with a clamp.

2. turning off the water. If there are taps on water pipes in the room, then it is enough to close them. In apartment buildings, taps that shut off the water are often located in the basements;

3. disconnecting the cold water pipe from the faucet in the kitchen or bathroom (in the room where the equipment is installed). If necessary, the pipe is shortened and a tee is attached. All connections are carefully wrapped and sealed;

4. installation of a faucet to the tee and through it - a filler tube.

The winding on the connections must be wound along the thread so that it does not come off and interfere with the screwing. Then the unit is connected to the electrical network, the tap on the water pipes is opened and a test run is done. When you turn on the dishwasher for the first time, carefully inspect all pipe connections in order to notice a leak in time. The empty unit is checked with detergents, adjusting the pressure of incoming water and heating. And watch it work in drying mode.

If you follow the instructions, follow safety precautions and follow a few useful tips for installing and connecting your dishwasher, you can reduce the risks associated with operating the equipment. Installation that observes all the nuances will help extend the service life of the unit.

We finally purchased a dishwasher - a very good purchase that will save our time and money. Connecting a dishwasher to electricity, sewerage and water supply is quite possible independently (any of us can do it) and is done in several successive steps. The quality of its operation and the duration of its operation depend on the correct installation of the dishwasher.

How to install a built-in dishwasher?

    Installation and connection of the dishwasher can be divided into 3 stages:
  1. preparing and securing built-in equipment in a special niche;
  2. connection to the electrical network;
  3. connection to water supply and sewerage.

There are a lot of technological projects in the world that are likely to seriously change our lives. But there are, at first glance, not very catchy, but the use of which will lead to radical changes in everyday life.

The best example is the installation and installation of a dishwasher. This irreplaceable helper in the kitchen is entering our homes more and more confidently, freeing up time to communicate with children and to pursue her interests.

But, with the acquisition of this miracle of technology, the question arises of how to install a dishwasher, perhaps do it yourself, or is it not possible to do without a specialist, and where to turn for help?

It’s good that our friend the Internet will not leave us alone with any problem. It turns out that if you wish, you can connect the dishwasher yourself, of course, if you have the necessary knowledge and skills.

If there are none, it is better to contact one of the companies that deals with these issues and knows how to install a dishwasher according to all the rules from A to Z.

So, your beauty is already home. And here the first question arises, where to put the dishwasher. It’s good if your kitchen is spacious enough and such questions do not arise, but if there is no free space, you should opt for a compact dishwasher.

There are two types of dishwashers: built-in and external. The question of where to put the dishwasher should be decided depending on the type of machine you have.

  • External

External dishwashers come in tabletop and floor-standing types. All these cars are very similar to each other, but their main difference is their size. Models of external dishwashers are compact, narrow and full-size.

Every housewife can easily decide where to install a dishwasher of this type. Such dishwashers do not take up much space and can fit into different kitchen interiors.

  • Built-in

Installing built-in dishwashers will allow you to make the most economical use of the available space in the kitchen. They are partially built-in.

Some models of these machines are completely built-in and covered with facades that are used to decorate your kitchen. It is better to decide where to install the dishwasher when purchasing new furniture for the kitchen.

If your spouse insists: “I want to install a dishwasher above the refrigerator,” choose a compact model. This option may be the best if your kitchen is small. The dimensions of these machines are not large and they can be installed on a table, or this type of machine can be installed above.

If a place has been chosen, then you can get to work; installing a countertop dishwasher is not at all so difficult that it requires calling a specialist. Many men also know how to install a dishwasher.

The surface on which you will install the dishwasher must be absolutely level so that there is no vibration.

Tools and material for installation

    To work you will need:
  1. Plumbing adjustable wrench.
  2. Pipe wrench.
  3. A Phillips and a slotted screwdriver.
  4. Tool for cutting plumbing pipe.
  5. A pipe countersink is a tool for removing burrs from the inside of a cut pipe.
  6. The building level is short (up to 40 cm).
  7. Electric drill with a set of feather drills for wood: 15 and 22 and 50mm.
  8. Copper plumbing pipe for supplying water to the dishwasher.

Fittings for a copper pipe (Fitting is a connecting element for pipes. In our case, these are collet nuts specifically for copper pipes) (see slide show: threaded fittings or other slides Press Fittings)

Note: If you supply water with the flexible hose included with the dishwasher (if you have enough length), then you do not need pipes and fittings.

To supply water to the dishwasher, you can choose copper or metal-plastic high-pressure pipes. In this case, fittings are selected according to the type of pipes you have chosen.

You will also need a water tee or angle with a locking ball valve. The valve will allow you to disconnect the dishwasher from the general water supply system of the apartment at any time.

To install such a machine, you need to connect it to cold water and sewerage, and you will also need a separate one. If you have even the slightest doubt about your competence, you should not take risks, it is better to turn to professionals.

As a rule, most people are inclined towards this solution to this issue. Do not neglect the knowledge of specialists. Prices for such work are quite affordable.

Floor-standing dishwashers fully meet the needs of a large family. If you have already decided on the place where to put the dishwasher and are confident in your abilities, you can get started.

If desired, a dishwasher can be installed under the countertop in your kitchen. Modern models of dishwashers fit perfectly into the interior of the kitchen.

  • The first stage of installing a dishwasher

The first thing to start with is to supply water. Usually a special outlet is made on the cold water supply pipe. This is where you should connect the hose that comes with the dishwasher.

When buying a car, pay attention to the length of the hose; in the store you can purchase a longer hose if the distance from the car to the water pipe is large.

  • The second stage of installing a dishwasher

At this stage, you need to connect the machine to the sewer, a special drain hose needs to be connected to the sewer, this work needs to be done with special care to avoid leakage, your plans probably do not include repairs to your neighbors on the lower floor.

  • The third stage of installing a dishwasher

The most serious and responsible task. You won’t be able to get by with a regular socket for mounting and installing a dishwasher. You will definitely need a separate power line and grounding.

When deciding where to install the dishwasher, think about where you will make such an outlet. Power engineers advise installing a special switch on this socket, which will automatically turn off the machine if there is a voltage drop in the network.

  • The fourth stage of installing a dishwasher

Now you can turn on the machine and check its operation. For the first test, do not use dishes, use only detergent.

Carefully look at all the connections and immediately eliminate any shortcomings in your work. Well, if everything is in order, then the installation of the dishwasher was done correctly, you can safely use your assistant.

So from the moment “I want a dishwasher” to happy ownership, not too many problems separated you.

Today in any city there are a lot of companies that install dishwashers, so if you have the slightest doubt about your competence, contact a specialist.

Experienced craftsmen will easily install all the necessary connections, install a power supply line equipped with an emergency shutdown, and save you from a lot of problems and headaches.

    The main steps for connecting a dishwasher are:
  1. installation of a separate outlet and supply of power to it;
  2. organization of separate water supply;
  3. device for draining water into the sewer;
  4. Checking the performance of the dishwasher.

This dishwasher wiring diagram shows mandatory and necessary work that can be carried out in any order convenient for you. Let's look at each stage of the work in more detail.

The simplest solution for connecting a dishwasher to electricity is to plug it into an outlet specially prepared for this during repairs. If there is no such outlet, you will have to spend some additional effort to provide the new machine with energy.

    Connecting a dishwasher with your own hands is possible subject to certain safety requirements listed below:
  • Since the power consumed by the dishwasher is quite high, the use of tees and extension cords for connection can cause damage to the dishwasher and even lead to a fire.
  • You cannot connect the machine to a device intended for an electric stove.
  • For the device, a wire with a diameter of at least 2 mm should be connected from the electrical panel to the required location of the socket.
  • A 16 A safety switch is installed, which will automatically turn off the power supply if the maximum permissible network load level is exceeded.
  • When connecting the dishwasher yourself, you should remember that to ensure the machine is truly grounded, the cable connected to the outlet must be three-wire.

Pro tip: Never “ground” electrical appliances to heating, gas, or water pipes! It is very dangerous!

In most cases, the first start of the dishwasher is described in the operating instructions - whether you like it or not, you will have to read it.

There is nothing particularly difficult about the first launch - it’s just the first, and for some reason most people are afraid of it and create some problems for themselves. If we describe the launch step by step, it looks like this.

We plug in the machine and open the water supply tap. There is a hole at the bottom closed with a stopper. We open it and, using a special funnel, pour salt into it to soften the liquid - pour in exactly as much as can fit there.

Water will rise from the hole, but this is not scary - this is how it should be. Approximately half a standard package of this softening agent is needed to completely load the container with salt. It should be noted that the salt used in the dishwasher is special - regular salt (table salt) is not suitable.

Next, turn on the power, pour powder or a tablet into a special compartment (you will find it in the instructions), close the door tightly, set the washing machine to the shortest operating mode and watch how the machine works.

At the end of the first “wash”, the inside of the machine will be washed and it can be used again. Basically, that's it. It remains to add a little - in particular about the importance of adjusting the “legs” of the machine. Connecting the dishwasher yourself without this stage of work will be incomplete.

By screwing or unscrewing the front legs of the dishwasher, you will need to ensure its clear position in the level - this is necessary for the correct and durable operation of mechanisms that have a rotation axis.

We are talking about the same pump electric motor or rotating nozzles, which will wear out faster if the machine is installed incorrectly.

A large amount of electricity is spent on heating water, hot drying and operating the pump. If highly efficient technologies were used in the production of a dishwasher, then it does not require a large amount of energy. On the contrary, such a model will cost little, trying to use resources sparingly.

The power consumption of a dishwasher depends on its class. Dishwashers of classes A, B and C can be considered the most economical: they have the highest rating, as they consume only 0.67-1.5 kW.

Class D and E models receive an average rating as they have higher power. Finally, representatives of groups F and G are considered the most inefficient in terms of energy consumption - their average values are from 2.3 to 2.7 kW. Typically these include old dishwashers.

There are also class A+ models, which in the “economical washing” mode consume no more than 0.63 kW per cycle. But this is not the limit: manufacturers are constantly improving their devices, wanting to enter the market with the most highly efficient dishwasher.

    In turn, economical models can differ significantly from each other in terms of energy consumption:
  1. class A – from 0.67 to 1.06 kW;
  2. class B – from 1.07 to 1.1 kW;
  3. class C – from 1.11 to 1.5 kW.

It is obvious that the power consumption of the dishwasher of the third group is one third more than that of the first. An excellent reason to buy a more highly efficient model. However, you can save money in other ways.

Energy Saving

Since the bulk of the electricity is spent heating water, it is sometimes recommended to connect the device directly to the hot water pipe. Like, this way the operation of the dishwasher will require much less consumed kilowatts of energy.

And indeed: the dishwasher takes water from the water supply, compares its temperature with the desired one and heats it only when necessary. But will this help you save money?

It all depends on how the hot water ends up in your home. If it is heated by a boiler, then it is advisable to compare the number of kW it needs with that needed by a dishwasher.

If your electric storage heater is more economical than a dishwasher, then you can use hot water. If you are a resident of an apartment building and use a central water supply, again pay attention to the cost of a cube of hot and cold water.

It might be cheaper to heat it up. As for geysers, the cost of gas is usually slightly lower than the cost of electricity, and therefore you can use water heated by a water heater.

When connecting the dishwasher to electricity, remember that the outlet should not be too close to the sink or water/gas pipes, otherwise this may cause a short circuit and even a fire.

Dishwasher socket

The dishwasher must be connected to the power supply through a modern, high-quality outlet that has reliable grounding. Many users try to replace the Euro plug with a regular one, since a modern plug with grounding contacts does not fit into old sockets.

This may lead to problems with the safety of the electrical device during operation, as well as to the loss of guarantees that the device will be unsafe even when turned off.

It is very convenient if the socket is installed in advance, even at the stage of repair. If the renovation has already been done and the furniture has been installed, then additional effort will be required to install this element.

An important condition is safety!

The installation of this equipment must be carried out according to certain rules, only in this way can the electrical appliance be made safe for use.

    These generally accepted rules include:
  • This unit is a powerful device with high energy consumption. Because of this, when using it, it is not recommended to use extension cords or tees for connection - this may lead to breakdown or even fire of the device.
  • It is also not allowed to use the same outlet to connect an electric stove and a dishwasher. To operate safely, the dishwasher must have a separate outlet.
  • The socket should be installed in a convenient location, for example, above the baseboard behind the appliance.
  • It is necessary to run a wire with a diameter of 2 mm from the electrical panel. In addition, this device is equipped with a 16 A safety switch, which will cut off the electricity if the load on the network exceeds the maximum permissible level.
  • To make grounding, you need to prepare a special three-core cable. This should be taken into account if you plan to independently connect the equipment; a professional electrician knows all the nuances.
Important! There is no need to ground water, gas or heating pipes. This poses a great danger to life!

Residents of an apartment building will not be able to ground the dishwasher in their apartment.

To protect such powerful equipment, as well as the people who use it, from emergency situations, it is necessary to connect a socket designed specifically for it to the distribution board with a separate cable of at least 2.5 mm square.

Tools required to install the outlet

    Installing a dishwasher socket is a simple process, but it requires special tools:
  1. slotted screwdriver - 2 pieces (2 and 4 mm);
  2. Phillips screwdriver - 2 pieces (2 and 3 mm);
  3. indicator screwdriver;
  4. knife for installation;
  5. pliers and special cutters for side cutting;
  6. hammer.

All tools must have plastic handles. If there is no insulation on the tool, then you will have to make rubber attachments from a hose of the required diameter.

It is easier to install an external outlet, but it can interfere with furniture installation. It is better to buy a built-in socket with grounding, which is not so difficult to install even for a non-professional.

    Installation consists of the following steps:
  • First, a convenient location for installation is selected. Then you need to mark it and make a hole using a hammer drill with an attachment for this type of drilling.
  • The location of the groove is determined using a level. This is necessary for connecting the wires. This can be done using a wall chaser.
  • Before installing the socket box, it is necessary to check with a level whether there is any deviation from the horizontal surface.
  • Using plaster and water, make putty and fix the plastic box in the wall.
  • Place the cable in the groove, and attach the wiring to the wall in some places using plaster.
  • The ends of the cable are stripped of insulation, and the three-core wire is divided into separate cores (5 cm from the edge).
  • It is necessary to turn off the power supply at the distribution board. To do this, turn off or unscrew the plugs. For safety, the absence of voltage is checked by an indicator. Only after this can you connect the socket.
  • The wires are connected to the contacts.
  • All power wires are hidden in the socket, and its working part must be attached with self-tapping screws to the installed plastic box.
  • At the last stage, the lid is screwed on. Before doing this, you should make sure that all wires are connected and insulated, and that the working part of the socket is securely fixed.

Any home handyman can handle the process of installing an outlet if he knows how to hold the necessary tools in his hands.

But you shouldn’t take risks if you have no knowledge at all about electrics, because here you need to competently carry out all stages of the process, observing safety precautions, only then can you be confident in the reliability of the final result.

The water supply is connected to cold water. It is advisable to install a filter on the water, which will reduce its hardness. This will significantly extend the life of the device.

If you do not pay due attention to the quality of the water, the machine will quickly fail. The check valve in the device will break. This will cause even cleanly washed dishes to smell unpleasant.

To prevent the check valve from malfunctioning, water filters are installed. In addition, the water supply is connected only to cold water. It is not advisable to connect it to hot water, because the quality of such water does not meet the necessary requirements.

    Stages of connecting the water supply:
  1. turning off the water - usually the tap is located in the kitchen;
  2. disconnecting the hose from the mixer;
  3. a tee is screwed onto the pipe and connected to the mixer;
  4. A ball valve is connected to the tee (in the middle branch). The latter has an outlet to which a hose from the dishwasher is already connected;
  5. a filter is installed on the outlet to retain debris.

The machine kit may include a hose that is too short. It will not be enough to connect to the pipe to the mixer. In this case, it is recommended to purchase a longer hose. You should not try to extend the old one - this will not be a very reliable solution.

One of the common ways to independently connect a device to a drainage system is to organize a drain through a siphon. This procedure should be carried out carefully and adhere to all installation recommendations.

The water drain must be equipped with a check valve and an additional outlet. This will prevent water from the sewer from entering the device.

    Step-by-step connection instructions:
  • the hose that extends from the machine is mounted on the wall or on a cabinet. It must be located at least 60 cm above the entrance of the drain into the sewer;
  • the fixed hose is tilted at the required angle to create a gravity flow of water from the device. The bend must be made so that water from the sink does not enter the dishwasher hose;
  • The drain circuit is connected to the siphon under the sink.

If there is already a siphon without outlets under the sink, which you don’t want to change, then you can use another method. To do this, the drain hose of the machine is connected to the outlet of the sewer pipe.

After this, the joint is tightly wrapped with electrical tape. In this case, you should bend the hose so that water from the sewer does not get into it.

Before connecting the drain, you need to check the length of the hose again. It should be enough. If it is short, then it can be extended. But you should not overdo it - excess length can negatively affect the operation of the pump.

Functionality check

After installing the outlet for connecting the dishwasher and connecting it to the water supply and sewerage system, you need to conduct a dry test of your new item.

    You should check:
  1. the speed of pouring water into the machine;
  2. heating the incoming water;
  3. operation of the dish drying mode.

The operation of all modes of the machine should be checked without dishes, but using detergent and reducing salt in accordance with its operating instructions. You should also carefully check all connections of pipes and hoses for leaks again.

After you have succeeded in connecting the dishwasher yourself, following all the recommendations in the installation manual, you can install the kitchen furniture that was moved during operation into its place, and attach the closing panel to the new machine.

    In order to reliably connect the device, you must:
  • install a water filter. Due to this, debris and rust from the water supply will not get into the machine, which negatively affect its operation;
  • Do not connect the device to hot water supply. Hot water is usually of worse quality than cold water. Mechanical impurities that it contains will negatively affect work;
  • Do not connect the machine to the boiler. There will be no savings from this - the water heater will still turn on periodically to heat the water. And residents will have to use cold tap water while the machine is running;
  • use a check valve when connecting the sewerage system. This will protect against sewage being sucked into the machine;
  • when connecting the drain hose to the drainage system, the water drainage circuit is bent so that water from the sink does not enter the machine;
  • carefully check the tightness of the connected parts;
  • It is advisable to purchase taps from bronze. This material is more durable than plastic;
  • Avoid using extension cords to connect the device to power. The machine is a fairly powerful device, so such a connection can lead to a fire.

When installing, you must follow the instructions that came with the device. You should check the reliability and tightness of all connected parts several times. If difficulties arise, it is better to contact specialists than to fix the breakdown later.

Connecting a dishwasher to the water supply and sewer system yourself involves several simple steps that will require tools, attention and patience.

To connect any household appliance in your own apartment or house, the home owner does not need to study mountains of technical literature.

Preparing materials and tools for work

The initial stage of any construction or installation work is the preparation of the necessary tools. Connecting the dishwasher to the sewer will also require the purchase of materials. It is best to worry about this immediately after purchasing the equipment. When the dishwashing machine is installed under standard conditions. For example, the house has been installed with metal-plastic pipes with a diameter of 20 millimeters and electricity has been installed. The set of parts will look like this:

  • a sewer siphon equipped with two fittings in case the home owner decides to place a washing machine and dishwasher in the same room;
  • a tee having a diameter identical to the circumference of the pipes;
  • shut-off valve with the diameter indicated above;
  • deep cleaning filter designed to prolong the service life of equipment;
  • FUM tape;
  • socket equipped with grounding;
  • wire required in the case when connecting the dishwasher to the water supply and sewer system requires the presence of an outlet near the installation site of the equipment. The installer will have to run a new line from the junction box.

Often, factory-installed dishwashers are equipped with drain and water supply hoses of short length. Therefore, to avoid downtime during installation work, it is better to check the length of the hoses when purchasing and, if necessary, buy parts of the appropriate size. It is important to remember that before going to the store you should measure the required distance several times.

The list of tools needed for the job is as follows:

  1. Drill (it is better to use an electric version);
  2. Two types of screwdrivers (curly and straight);
  3. A well-sharpened or stationery knife;
  4. Scissors that can easily handle cutting a metal-plastic pipe;
  5. Building level;
  6. A pair of adjustable wrenches;
  7. Screwdriver with indicator for determining the phase.

Armed with everything you need from these lists, you can begin installing the equipment. This work begins with choosing the optimal location for the dishwasher.

Selecting a location

It is immediately necessary to make a reservation that the place for installing the equipment should be chosen in advance. Think about the question of how to connect the dishwasher to the water supply and sewerage system. If this point was missed, then you should carefully read the following nuances:

  • Dimensions built-in appliances should not exceed or be smaller than the size of the furniture. To install a dishwasher, you can use a special section in the kitchen unit, in which the equipment can be installed under the countertop, hob or sink. You can place such a section in a closet. Naturally, if this does not cause operational difficulties.
  • Distance the drainage system cannot be more than one and a half meters away. Otherwise, the dishwasher pump will not be able to withstand the load for long and will very quickly become unusable. If it is not possible to install a dishwasher closer to the specified distance in the kitchen of a house or apartment, then it is worth considering the option of installing the equipment in the bathroom. An identical situation arises when there is no sewer outlet in the kitchen.
  • Installation location should be located in close proximity to the outlet. In this case, there is no need to draw an additional line and ditch the walls.

Features of tabletop type

If the purchased dishwasher model is a tabletop type, you don’t have to think through the water drainage system for installation. The installation process will only require securely fixing the hose in the sink (this option can only be used when installing appliances in the kitchen). In addition, a siphon is not required here. And the machine’s pump will rest most of the time, which will have a positive effect on its service life. Another advantage of a tabletop dishwasher lies in the ability to place it in a small room.

In addition to these nuances, there are several rules that installers apply when installing built-in equipment:

  1. The distance to drain points and places where water is connected must be at least a meter.
  2. When installing it yourself, it is important to place the equipment on a flat surface, that is, all the legs of the dishwasher must rest firmly on the floor. The construction level is designed to help perform such work.
  3. The permissible deviation of built-in equipment in a horizontal position is no more than two degrees.
  4. Before fixing the machine in its place, it is necessary to make all the holes in the furniture and walls. Also measure the required distance between the wall and the back of the housing.

When using various fuse systems, it is important to consider a protected place for them, which can be easily accessed if necessary.

Water connection

Of all the work, connecting a dishwasher to a sewer system is considered the most energy-consuming and labor-intensive. First of all, it is necessary to completely block the access of water, because the tee will cut into the system pipe.

Connecting the dishwasher to the sewer and water supply is carried out according to the following algorithm:

  • Finding the connection point of the flexible hose on the mixer to the drainpipe and then disconnecting it.
  • Installation of a tee with FUM tape pre-wound on the thread.
  • Connecting a flexible hose from a mixer to a tee.
  • Connection to the outlet of a fine filter, as well as a shut-off valve with a pre-wound thread on the thread.
  • Connecting the hose from the dishwasher to the faucet.

It is worth emphasizing that when connecting a dishwasher, it is best to use the cold water outlet. The fact is that hot water is of much worse quality.

When it comes to installing equipment in a private home, where interruptions in water supply often occur. The way out of the situation lies in installing a small tank with clean water in the attic. For normal operation of most modern dishwashers, it is enough to create a pressure of only 0.1 MPa. This is precisely the value obtained in a situation where water flows down from a height of several meters. But, nevertheless, it is better to carefully study the technical data sheet of the device and make sure of the operating pressure.

Drain connection

This stage is much easier than the previous one. The best option for installing a siphon would be to place it under the sink. With this installation, draining the dishwasher into the sewer prevents the spread of unpleasant sewer odors throughout the kitchen and other rooms.

Connecting the dishwasher drain to the sewer system involves connecting the drain circuit to the siphon. It is important here to ensure that the hose is positioned at an angle. The larger the angle, the better the water drainage effect (gravity flow).

It is important to pay attention to the fact that at the top, where the drain joins the siphon, an inflection should be made. Such a place will prevent water from entering the dishwasher drain from the sink.

Electricity supply

As noted earlier, the dishwasher must be powered from a nearby outlet. The current value in it should not be less than 16 amperes. In addition, the outlet must be equipped with grounding.

Due to the fact that modern dishwashers have a high power rating, the wiring in an apartment or house must be designed for such passing loads. To prevent the plugs from constantly being knocked out, you need to take care of purchasing electrical wiring with a suitable core cross-section. The ideal option is to calculate the cable cross-section and, based on this information, select the appropriate wires.

A copper cable with a cross-section of at least 2 millimeters is considered optimal for connecting a dishwasher.

Electricity should be supplied from the panel or from the distribution box. In this case, a mandatory step in the work is the installation of line protection using a circuit breaker.

Under no circumstances should you connect equipment without grounding, since correctly connecting a dishwasher to a sewer can only be done in compliance with electrical safety requirements.

When other electrical appliances, for example a washing machine, are already connected to the outlet, you cannot also connect the dishwasher. In such a situation, an overload may occur, which, at best, will lead to knockout of the plugs in the shield. In the worst case scenario, household appliances will be damaged.

Finish stage

After connecting all communications, the installer only needs to place the dishwasher strictly at level and conduct a control test of the work performed. You can level the equipment by adjusting the legs or using a special device - a building level. If there is misalignment at the installation site, this will negatively affect the productivity of the equipment, and will also lead to increased wear of working parts.

The final stage of installation involves connecting the dishwasher and checking the quality of its operation. To perform these actions, it is enough to activate the test mode, which tests the system without loading dishes. Here you will need to carefully monitor the speed of water intake and drainage, as well as the absence of leaks at connections and joints.

Despite the guarantees of reliability of the equipment considered by the manufacturers, everyday use makes its own adjustments to the operation of dishwashers. To remain confident in the smooth functioning of the dishwasher and prevent the room from flooding with water, the operation of this equipment must be ensured by appropriate conditions. All of them are given in the article and answer the question of how to connect a dishwasher to the water supply and sewerage system yourself.

Everything useful about sewerage -

Buying a dishwasher is not everything; installation plays an important role. Compliance with installation rules will allow you to avoid malfunctions, leaks, and other problems. It is recommended to first select a location to install the equipment. Reading the instructions will help you avoid possible mistakes during installation. Proper connection guarantees proper operation of the equipment for many years. The service life of the equipment depends on the accuracy of following the instructions, so the procedure should be taken as responsibly as possible.

Dishwasher installation steps

Before connecting the dishwasher, you should take care in advance about the tools that may be useful for installing the equipment.

The distance to the outlet and communications must be measured. Many models come with short hoses that can be replaced with long ones.

The brand of equipment also plays an important role; with some models, additional difficulties may arise due to their non-standard sizes and other nuances.

Stages of work:

  • choice of location;
  • connecting to a water supply system, connecting a hose to a water supply system - the procedure is considered the most labor-intensive and requires shutting off the water;
  • connecting the drain - the best option is to install a siphon under the sink;
  • supply of electricity is carried out from an outlet located near the equipment;
  • leveling equipment, checking installation.

Features of choosing a place

When choosing a location, consider the following factors:

  • the minimum distance between equipment and other electrical appliances should be 15 cm, a distance of 40-50 cm is considered optimal; the area between two cabinets is ideal for installing equipment;
  • installation near the sink will simplify the connection procedure; you will need a splitter;
  • installation of equipment should also be carried out taking into account the convenience of placing cabinets with household chemicals, it should be located nearby;
  • proximity to a grounded outlet;
  • The optimal length of the drain hose is 1.5 m; overloads increase the risk of malfunctions.

Connection to water supply

Connecting to the water supply system will be a fairly simple procedure for those who have previously connected a washing machine with their own hands. The stages of work are no different. When carrying out the work, the same parts are used - a hose with an identical diameter, gasket, filter. You should make sure in advance that the hose is the correct length and that there is no need for extension. It should be borne in mind that even the most reliable joint can cause leaks. If necessary, you can always buy a hose of the appropriate length in the store.

The simplest installation option is to install a shut-off valve in the area where the water supply is connected to the faucet in the kitchen. There are no difficulties in this case; to carry out the work, it is enough to disconnect the supply line from the cold pipe and connect the tee valve. After this, the mixer hose must be connected to one of the ends. Attach a hose to the end of the faucet that supplies water to the dishwasher.

If there is no place near the water supply, the connection procedure becomes much more complicated. Soldering of polypropylene and metal-plastic products will be required; this requires experience and knowledge. The best option in this case is to seek help from specialists.

Connection to sewerage

The procedure is considered the simplest. You should also check the length of the hose first. A short hose can be replaced with a longer one or extended. The extended outlet is fixed to the sewer outlet; to do this, it is enough to install a thick rubber seal.

Difficulties may arise if there is no outlet on the pipe. In such a situation, a tee must be removed from the connection between the sink and the drain siphon. It is recommended to connect the dishwasher drain to one of the outlets. A siphon is connected to the remaining one.

When the distance of the machine from the sewer pipe is short, a stationary supply is used. The length of the hose plays an important role; excessive load leads to rapid wear of the components. A special inlet ensures independent drainage of water. The dishwasher hose should run at an obtuse angle. Sagging is not allowed; their presence will make it difficult for even a small amount of water to drain.

Electricity - what kind of outlet?

The electrical connection also plays an important role; a long distance to the outlet can cause certain difficulties. The use of an extension cord in this case is strictly prohibited; penetration of moisture into it poses a great danger. It can only be used as a last resort; when connecting the machine to an outlet via an extension cord, people must be present in the apartment. The cable should not be placed between pipes, near a tap or gas stove. Breakage of the extension cord can lead to damage to the plastic, leakage, and fire.

Preliminary selection of the location of the dishwasher will help you avoid troubles; it should be located close to the outlet.

When choosing an adapter, you should pay attention to strength, surface quality, chips and other defects should be absent. Loose fixation of the device components, a thin wire, and a plug made of poor rubber are not acceptable. When purchasing, preference should be given to high-quality adapters from well-known brands.

If possible, it is recommended to connect separate electrical wiring to the dishwasher; this will help avoid increased load when several electrical appliances are operating simultaneously (built-in oven, refrigerator, etc.). Installation of electrical wiring should also be entrusted to specialists. The socket should be installed at a distance of 14-40 cm from the floor.

Final stage

After connecting the communications, the dishwasher is leveled to the building level. Adjusting the legs will help correct the position of the equipment.

Even minor distortions are not acceptable; this can lead to reduced efficiency and rapid failure of the dishwasher.

At the final stage, the work is also checked. The dishwasher starts in test mode without dishes. When checking, you should measure the speed of filling and draining water. It is also important to check the butt joints; leaks are not allowed. A more detailed description of all stages will help to carry out the procedure as carefully as possible.

Installation options

All installation options may be accompanied by difficulties; compliance with the conditions and requirements will help to minimize them.

Cabinet installation

If there is a cabinet next to the sink with a width of 45 cm or more, installation should be carried out in it. The main advantage of the method is the ability to integrate the device hoses into an under-sink system.

To do this you will need the following items:

  • extended pipe with shut-off valve;
  • hose outlet into the sink siphon;
  • additional socket.

It is necessary to remove the shelves and the back wall from the cabinet. To bring the body into a vertical position, adjustable legs should be used. After this, the dishwasher should be connected in series to all communications and plugged into a power outlet. If necessary, a water seal with a drain pipe is installed. The front should be custom made or a panel assembled from removed cabinet doors.

Installation in a separate module

This option is suitable if you have free space and lack suitable cabinets. The production of the module should be ordered in advance; it is installed near the communication nodes. The structure is installed close to the sink. Reliability of fixation plays an important role; any vibrations when turning on the equipment are not acceptable. Hoses and pipes are laid along the wall; access to them should be as simple as possible. The master should simply move the cabinet aside and get to work.

Installation in a niche

Some kitchens have a special niche for mounting a microwave oven and other kitchen electrical appliances. It can also be used when installing the machine. If there is a large distance between the niche and communications, you should worry about purchasing hoses in advance.

If embedding is not suitable

If it is not possible to install the dishwasher anywhere, the last option remains - installing it on the floor or on a table. There are options for reinstalling the headset with the transfer of communication systems. This method requires time and financial costs. The most economical option is to install the facade on a machine.

  • installing a drain hose into a sink is considered a rather dangerous procedure; there is a risk of flooding the neighbors;
  • Electrolux dishwashers require precise installation, the maximum tilt to one side is 2 degrees, installation is carried out only after a thorough check;
  • Siemens machines are often produced in non-standard sizes, which creates difficulties when installing in a kitchen set; measurements will help to avoid them;
  • the minimum distance between the back wall of the dishwasher and the kitchen wall is 5 cm;
  • strictly following the instructions when installing the machine will help to avoid problems;
  • the use of extension cords is not recommended, as they can cause a fire or accident;
  • installing a dishwasher next to an oven or refrigerator requires a separate line, which will avoid overloads.

In order for the dishwasher to function flawlessly in the long term, it must be properly connected. Dishwashers are available in a built-in version (for example, in a kitchen unit) or in a separate version.

Rice. 1. Appearance of the Bosch SRV55T13EU dishwasher

Using the example of a Bosch dishwasher model SRV55T13EU (Fig. 1), we will consider a simple connection method that can be used universally - in the city and the countryside, taking into account some of the features of a particular connection discussed in the article.

You can connect the machines yourself, following the recommended path; performing work operations in the following sequence:

  • control of appearance upon receipt (delivery);
  • installing the dishwasher in a selected location (not far from the water supply and drainage points);
  • connecting to the sewerage system (drainage) using a drain hose;
  • connection to the hydraulic circuit of a centralized water supply (in the village to the water supply circuit);
  • connection from a 220 V lighting network (with a ground loop) and a separate automatic fuse 10-13 A. The automatic fuse switch (see Fig. 2) must be triggered when a leakage current appears and have a corresponding designation on the case.

Since the power of the dishwasher consumed from the network during operation is high - up to 2.3 kW, the electrical connection is made to a specially grounded outlet (see Fig. 3 and 4).

Rice. 3. Correct (left) and incorrect (right) connection of the dishwasher to the 220 V lighting network

Rice. 4. Practical connection to an outlet

Rice. 5. If your apartment does not have such sockets, the grounding wire (according to electrical safety rules, it must be yellow-green in color and with a cross-section of at least 2.5 mm²) is installed independently. An option for wiring in a house under construction is presented.

Rice. 6. Additional wiring of ground wire

Bosch SRV55T13EU has an automatic solenoid valve, which is programmatically controlled by the central processor of the machine, passing water from the water supply into the working chamber and to the heating element (heating element).

Rice. 7. Aqua-Stop Bitron solenoid valve

Rice. 8. Illustration of connecting the incoming water hose to the solenoid valve

The counter part to it must have an external thread with a diameter of 26.4 mm (see Fig. 8).

This valve has its own characteristics: inside the supply hose (2.5 m behind the dishwasher) there are connecting wires.

As a rule, an underwater hose with a solenoid valve is connected to a cold water supply. However, it is useful to know that this solenoid valve is designed for a water temperature of +25...+70º C, and at an input temperature of +60º C, the operating time of the washing machine will be less (per wash) - due to the fact that there are no costs time for heating water with a heating element in the working chamber, and at a temperature less than +60º C - more (see Table 1 at the end of the article).

The internal heater (heater) of the dishwasher ensures the water temperature in the working chamber up to +65º C (depending on the set program).

The dishwasher can also operate in semi-automatic mode if it is not equipped with an Aqua-Stop solenoid valve, if the pressure in the hydraulic circuit is low (less than 0.5 bar), if water enters the machine by gravity (country version). In the last case considered, the water supply is controlled manually by opening/closing the water tap.

If the water pressure is insufficient or does not flow at all, the “Check water supply” segment lights up on the indicator. This may be in the following cases:

  • the water tap is closed;
  • they turned off the water to the apartment;
  • the flexible inlet hose of the hydraulic circuit is severely bent;
  • the filter in the solenoid valve is clogged (Fig. 9).

Rice. 9. View of the built-in filter in the solenoid valve

To localize the malfunction, you will need to turn off the power supply to the dishwasher, stop the water supply, unscrew the solenoid valve at the junction with the water supply hose from the apartment (house) hydraulic circuit, remove the filter from the Aqua-Stop solenoid valve and clean it. Then put everything back in the reverse order, connect the water and power to the dishwasher.

Attention, important!

Never cut this hose or immerse the plastic solenoid valve housing in water.

To avoid an electrical accident and leaks, lay the inlet and drain lines so that the hoses do not bend and are not adjacent to the heating elements. It is best to mask these technical communications with hard plastic “false panels” to prevent even the unlikely impact of children or pets.

If the dishwasher is installed in a country house and operates in conditions of temperature changes, make sure that after use there is no water left inside the working chamber and in the hoses (both inlet and drain) (so that it does not freeze in winter).

To drain the remaining water, close the water tap (turn off the inlet circuit), disconnect the supply hose and let the water drain. This way you will protect yourself and your dishwasher for a long time.

Some technical specifications and installation requirements

  • supply voltage of the solenoid valve 220-240 V, 50/60 Hz;
  • power consumption 2.3 kW;
  • minimum water pressure in the inlet circuit 0.5 bar (0.05 MPa);
  • maximum water pressure 10 bar (1 MPa);
  • in case of increased hydraulic pressure, an additional pressure reducing valve is installed in front of the tap or solenoid valve;
  • The minimum volume of supplied water is 10 l/min.

We will sequentially consider connecting the underwater (input) and outlet (drain) hoses to the dishwasher.

Dishwasher installation

Connecting the underwater (incoming) hose to the sewer lines

On the water pipe side, the connection is threaded, using an adapter hose; it is shown in Fig. 10.

Rice. 10. Threaded connection of the inlet hydraulic circuit using an adapter hose

In Fig. 11 illustrates the types of connections and dimensions of some connecting elements for underwater and drain hoses.

Using the supplied parts, connect and secure the supply hose to the water tap; Make sure that the fresh water supply hose is not kinked or pinched.

Connecting the drain hose to the sewer lines

The drain valve (adapter connected with a compression clamp) has an outer diameter of 22 mm (see Fig. 11); Dimensions are similar to the output of all types of dishwashers and automatic washing machines manufactured after 2000.

To connect the water outlet from the dishwasher, install a standard siphon with a drain pipe and outlet under the sink (see Fig. 12 and 13).

Attention, important!

To find out the duration (in time - in minutes) of the selected program, press the dishwasher on/off button once.

Turn it off in the same way after “0” appears on the display. There is one more important nuance of program management.

If, during program management, you simultaneously press both buttons labeled Reset and hold for 3 seconds, the washing program stops, the “0” symbol will appear on the information display, and another minute after pausing the program, you can completely turn off the dishwasher.

This method is suitable for emergency stop of the program, adding dishes, in case of power failures and the need to change program parameters.

The table knows everything

There is a certain consumption of detergent and electricity, established experimentally and recommended by the manufacturer, depending on the installed (programmed) dishwashing program. This information is included in the table. 1.

Table 1. Relationship between program type, water and electricity consumption

Despite the apparent complexity of the description, all these sequential steps can be performed by any zealous owner - in order to bring pleasure from operating the dishwasher to his loved ones.
