The card speaks of a period of romantic love, endless longing, deep feelings, as well as the opportunity to discover and develop a certain artistic talent.
The Princess of Cups symbolizes the earthly part of Water - in particular, the property of crystallization, the ability to materialize an idea, support life and serve as the basis for chemical combinations. She is depicted as a dancing female figure in a flowing robe with a crystal pattern around the edges. Her head is crowned with a swan with outstretched wings. This reminds us of the swan, which represents in Eastern philosophy the word AUM or AUMGN, a symbol of the entire process of creation. The princess holds a covered bowl, from which a turtle protrudes. She is also from Hindu philosophy: the same turtle supporting the elephant, on whose back the Universe rests. The Princess dances on the foamy surface of the sea, in which a dolphin frolics, the king fish, symbolizing the power of Creation. By nature, this Princess is infinitely merciful. She is all attractiveness, sensuality, softness, kindness and tenderness. She lives in the world of Romance, in an eternal ecstatic dream. A superficial glance may see selfishness and laziness in her, but this is a false impression; silently and effortlessly, she still does her job. In the I Ching, the earthly part of Water is represented by hexagram 41, Sun, which means “diminishment,” the dissolution of everything dense. People designated by this card are very dependent on others, but at the same time they are useful to them. By themselves, they are, at best, rarely important, but their assistants are unsurpassed.

The bird depicted on this card is peeking out of what appears to be a cage. There is no door, and in fact the grille disappears. The lattice was an illusion, and this little bird was called upon by the grace and approval of the other birds. She spreads her wings, ready for her first flight.
Awakening a new understanding that the cage has always been open and the sky has always been open to exploration can make us feel unsure at first. It's good, uncertainty is natural, but don't let it obscure the opportunity to experience lightheartedness and adventure that comes with uncertainty. This time move with freshness and tenderness. Feel the thrill inside. Spread your wings and be free.
You are freed from prison, from the cage, you can open your wings, and the whole sky is yours. All the stars, moon and sun belong to you. You can disappear into the blue of the beyond... Just stop clinging to the cage, move out of the cage, and all heaven is yours. Spread your wings and fly towards the sun like an eagle.
