SMTP port(s): | 25 857 | Protected ports: | 465 |
POP port(s): | 110 | Protected ports: | 995 |
IMAP port(s): | 143 | Protected ports: | 993 |

If you (or your email service provider) use other ports, enter them in the text boxes next to the appropriate protocols to ensure that Avast scans your email messages. Use commas to separate multiple port numbers.
In a text field Ignored addresses enter the addresses of services or ports that you want to exclude from scanning (for example, smtp.example.com). If necessary, separate multiple addresses with commas.
Selecting a checkbox for an option Ignore local communication Prevents Avast from scanning internal system communications between applications running on the PC. By default, this option is active. Hello! Today I decided to write a short article in which I will tell you what mistake is most often made when setting up routers on your own. Caike problems appear later and how to fix everything. Where do I even get this information from?
Now look a little to the right, in the right column of the site. You see, there is the total number of comments that were left on this site. I don’t know what number you see there now, but at the moment it’s almost 9000 comments (8894 to be exact).
Almost all comments are questions that I had to answer, advise something, provide a link to the desired article etc. What am I getting at, these comments are a great source of unique information both for me and for visitors to this site. These are unique cases, I would even say life problems :).
Also, most of these comments relate to problems that arise during the setup and operation of routers, wireless adapters, Wi-Fi networks etc. So I made some conclusions from these comments, and from the articles that relate to this most popular mistake.
Yes, this is the most popular problem. I wrote about her in an article. By the way, the article is also no less popular :).
Why does this problem occur and why is it the most popular?
It usually occurs due to the exact fact that when setting up the router incorrectly indicate the parameters provided by the provider.
Also, pay attention to the link by MAC address u. If your provider does it, then do not forget to clone the MAC address in the router settings. Just clone from the computer to which the Internet was connected.
And also, in properties Wireless network connection , or LAN connection V Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) you need to set to receive IP and DNS automatically.
Here is the most common mistake and its solution.
If you have a provider for which a special connection was created on the computer before installing the router, and after installing the router the Internet works only on one computer, or works while this computer is turned on, then you need to clarify something here.
You see, the router itself must establish a connection to the Internet, not the computer. You need to delete the previously created connection on your computer. And in the properties of the network adapter, set to receive IP and DNS automatically.
We specify all the parameters that the provider provides only in the router settings. Connecting on a computer, if you have a router, is not necessary.
I also wrote an article on this issue.
I don’t know how useful this article was for you, but I hope that my time was not wasted.
Before setting up a router, the main thing is to understand how it works and specify correct settings, which your provider gave you when you connected to the Internet. If you don’t know what parameters to indicate and what to choose, then just call the provider and ask.
As always, ask questions in the comments, we’ll sort it out. Best wishes!
This small box that was provided to you by your Internet provider, or you purchased yourself in one of the store chains household appliances and electronics, is the weak link in your home Internet connection.
The Avast team took care of this and developed new feature to protect your home network Home Network Security. Which was integrated into the new version of Avast 2015. Home Network Security scans the router for vulnerabilities and identifies potential security problems.
Today, routers are the weakest link in home network security in many homes and small businesses, so this is a very necessary and useful feature.
But, nevertheless, here we are faced with a problem. Today in the world there is a huge number different types routers, but most users simply buy the one that is “cheaper and works”, or simply get a router from their Internet providers. This means that security is already at risk. Home Network Security Feature Home Network Security was designed to protect against these threats:
Yours wireless network insecure due to lack of encryption. This way, someone nearby, such as your neighbor, can connect to your Wi-Fi using throughput channel and access your devices (printer, network drive etc.)
Your router can be accessed via the Internet, so hackers can control and change the settings of your home network, also disconnect you from the Internet and steal personal data from your electronic device.
Your Internet connection is at risk and your router may be hacked.
Your devices can be accessed from the Internet. This happens when Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is enabled in the router settings and devices receive IPv6 addresses that are not protected. The problem lies, first of all, not in the protocol, but in the router, which is not able to provide security to the devices receiving these addresses.
With Home Network Security, integrated into all Avast products, we can keep your devices safe.
There are many guides with step-by-step information available for free from router manufacturers. For example, . Look for the manual for your model and read it. Everything you learn will help you protect your home network.
