Homemade mug from a plastic bottle. Beer mugs from bottles Toilet paper holder

There are a huge variety of different ways and methods of using ordinary plastic bottles for purposes other than their intended purpose. I want to tell you about one of them.

One summer, my friend and I went fishing on the lake. Everything was great until at some point a friend dropped and drowned the ladle with which we periodically poured water out of the boat. A solution was found almost immediately. Instead of a ladle, we made a homemade mug from a plastic bottle.
To make it, we need a plastic bottle of any size, a stationery knife and scissors (on the lake we used a tourist knife as a tool).

To begin, use a utility knife to cut off the top of the bottle at the point where it begins to narrow into the neck.

Next, we cut out a piece using scissors, moving about 2 cm away from the top, a kind of circle, but not completely, leaving about 2 cm for the future handle of our mug. We carry out the same operation from below, but at the same time moving away from the bottom about 10 cm for the future base of the glass. It should look something like this.

Next, turn the top circle inside out, bend it down and place it on the bottom of the bottle.

You can first go over all the edges with scissors in order to remove all the irregularities and burrs obtained during cutting, which could subsequently cut your hand. It’s probably not convenient to drink from such a mug (I haven’t tried it), but when doing housework, hiking or fishing in the absence of other similar things, it can be quite useful.

The end result should be a nice and quite comfortable mug. It takes very little time to make it. The method is very simple and accessible to everyone.

Plastic bottles. Big and small. Every family throws several containers into the trash almost every day, be it plastic containers for various drinks, dairy products and much more. Large five-liter water containers may still find use in the household, but everything else is mercilessly thrown away. Garbage, you say, why store it? Only the space becomes cluttered. And you will be wrong. From this seemingly garbage, you can make a lot of useful things. This is especially true at the dacha, where you don’t always have everything you need at hand, in the garage, because storing small metal items sometimes requires special containers, and going to the store for a box of nuts or screws, you see, is not serious. And when moving to another place of residence, when all your things are still packed, it is difficult to find your way, and sometimes the most necessary little things are missing. Of course, experienced people who often change their place of residence know what they will need first and put together a separate force majeure package for such cases. But if this does not happen, plastic bottles will come to your rescue. In our unusual article we will tell you what can be made from them. And you will be surprised by the variety of applications of this seemingly used and already useless product... So, go ahead... Let's begin the review..

Washstand made from a plastic bottle

Sometimes in our lives there are situations when difficulties arise with water supply. Shutdowns of the central water supply during breakthroughs, country and garage work. If you are some distance from home, it is not advisable to walk far to wash your hands. And when the water is turned off, it is not very convenient to distract your family with requests to pour water on your hands from a ladle. Our method will come to the rescue in this situation. Using this method, you can make a convenient washstand without much difficulty, without any effort. To do this you will need only two things. Soldering iron or hot nail and a five-liter water bottle.
At the bottom of the plastic bottle, on the side, about two centimeters from the bottom, use a soldering iron to make a small hole, about five millimeters in diameter. All. The washstand is ready. To start using, unscrew the cap and fill the bottle with water, plugging the pre-made hole with your finger. When the bottle is filled to the brim, screw on the cap. Remove your finger. According to the laws of physics, water does not flow out of the container. But as soon as you unscrew the lid a little, the water will run in a brisk stream. You can wash your hands. By screwing the lid back to its original position, you can stop the water.

Do you need to pour liquid from one container to another, with a narrow neck, or pour bulk products from a bag into a plastic jar, but there is a possibility of spilling or spilling? But due to circumstances, the funnel that all housewives have in their arsenal was not at hand? No problem. You can easily make your own funnel in seconds. To do this, you just need to cut off the top of the plastic bottle with a paper knife to the height you need, and voila, the funnel is ready. You can use it.

Many of us are familiar with this unpleasant feeling. You shop at the store for a couple of days in advance, and go home with the packages. The handles of the bags cut into my palms painfully. It would seem, what is the connection between bags filled with food and plastic containers? No. Don't rush to conclusions. An excellent way out of this situation would be handle holders from five-liter plastic bottles. We thread the handles of the bag into the neck-ring and push the upper part - the holder - through them. The package is securely fixed and convenient to carry. And the handle holder from a plastic bottle takes up very little space. Just remember to put it in your pocket before heading to the store.
These handle holders are also suitable for carrying long loads, for example, metal pipes of similar diameter. To do this, you need to put a handle-holder on both ends of the pipe, moving it about 15-20 cm from the edge. It’s comfortable to carry and your hands are clean.

On a hiking trip, on a picnic in the forest, or just at the dacha, sometimes you don’t have such a necessary, simple object as a spoon at hand. No problem. If you have a plastic bottle on hand, you can easily make a camp version of the spoon. To do this, you need to cut out an approximate outline with a knife, approximately as shown in the photo above, and melt the edges of a homemade spoon with a lighter for ease of use. Depending on the size of the bottle, you can make spoons of different sizes. Using this principle, you can even make something like a ladle. To do this you will need a knife and a square canister. You need to cut along the edge (handle), so that the bottom of the ladle bowl is at the corner of the canister. A little correction in shape using a lighter, and the ladle is ready.

Pastry package

Pastry bag from a plastic bottle

To make a pastry bag with your own hands, we need several things: a plastic bottle with a cap, a toothpick, a lighter, and scissors. First, let's deal directly with the nozzle for the pastry bag. To do this, unscrew the cap from the bottle and heat the bottom of the cap with the flame of a lighter. When the plastic softens, use a toothpick to form the spout of the dispenser from the inside of the bottom, as shown in the photo. After the plastic has hardened, remove the toothpick and cut off the dispenser spout with scissors. To form beautiful patterns of the cream when used, you can cut off the tip contour-wise. Now we begin to make a nozzle for the dispenser, on which you can attach a pastry bag (a durable plastic bag will work as a pastry bag). To make a nozzle, you need to cut off the neck (screw-on part) from the bottle. This is best done with a hot knife. The nozzle is ready. To start using it, you need to insert the top part of the bag into the neck attachment and turn it outward. Then simply screw on the dispenser cap and trim off the excess polyethylene with scissors. The pastry bag is ready. Can be used one time, or you don’t have to throw it away after use. After all, it’s enough to simply replace the package.

Mug made from a plastic bottle

If necessary, it will not take much time to make a mug from a plastic bottle. This option, although not a full-fledged mug, is nevertheless preferable to a plastic cup. Due to the fact that our homemade mug has a handle, you will not burn your fingers.
To make a mug, we need a plastic bottle, with a cutting line about one third of the bottle. This is the primary preparation. Then, on this blank we cut it according to the template, as in the photo. We should have a plastic container with a jumper and a ring on top. We bend the jumper back and put the ring on the bottom of the container. The improvised cup is ready. Enjoy your tea!

A copy of a key from a plastic bottle

The key, for example, to a dacha, is in one copy, and there are no workshops nearby that can make a high-quality copy? A plastic bottle comes to the rescue again. Yes, yes, that's it. Moreover, in this case, the stiffer the polymer from which it is made, the better. To make a copy of the key we will need tape, a lighter, and scissors. We take the original key and heat it with the flame of a lighter. In this case, we are not interested in the temperature effect, but in deposits and soot on the surface of the key. When the surface of the key darkens enough, you need to cool it and apply the smoked side to the sticky surface of a previously prepared piece of tape. After a few seconds, carefully peel the tape off the key and stick it on a piece of plastic bottle, cut it along the contour, and the key is ready. Of course, it cannot serve as a full-fledged alternative to a real key for a long time, but it will be enough for a few times.

Have you run out of electrical tape and have nothing to insulate the exposed ends of the wires with? If the area of the insulated surface is relatively small, you can resort to the original insulation method using a plastic bottle cap. For these purposes, the cap from a large, five-liter bottle is best suited. Using a lighter, melt the edge of the cap almost until it burns. When the plastic becomes liquid, dip the insulated area into it and turn it several times. Remove frozen “tails” of plastic with a paper knife. Ready.

With this ingenious trap you can catch several fish weighing up to 200 grams at once. To make a trap you will need a large five-liter plastic bottle. We heat the top of the bottle with a lighter and bend the neck inward. Then, using a soldering iron, we make many small holes on the surface of the bottle (for water drainage). Through a couple of holes we thread a thick nylon fishing line of the required length and tie it. We melt the ends of the fishing line to avoid untying. The trap is ready. The bait is placed inside, and you can start fishing.

A very simple device that won’t take much time to make. In order to make such a mousetrap, you can use different materials. But you need to follow the principle of action. The pin on which the bottle is placed through two through holes located opposite each other in the middle part of the bottle must be rigidly fixed in a solid surface, and when the neck is lowered down, the outlet must be reliably blocked. The principle of operation of this device is very simple: there is bait at the bottom of the bottle, the mouse penetrates the bottle in the hope of profiting from something tasty, then, after eating, rushes to the exit. And here is the most interesting thing: under its weight, the neck of the bottle lowers, and the barrier made reliably blocks the exit. The mouse is trapped.

Self-watering flower pot

Are you going away for a long time and have no one to trust to water your indoor plants? A way out can be found using the same plastic bottles. Any size you need will fit. These can be used to make temporary pots for your plants to help them survive your absence. In order to make such a miracle pot, you need to cut off the top part of the bottle (with the neck). Using a soldering iron, make a hole in the bottle cap, into which you then need to thread several thick woolen threads. Having placed the ends of the threads inside the improvised bowl-pot, add soil and replant the plant. Pour the required amount of water into the remaining part of the bottle, cutting it to the required height. Don’t be afraid to overdo it (in this case, the plant will take as much as it needs). Place the above-described bowl-pot in this container. The neck of the former bottle, together with the released ends of the threads, falls towards the water. You can go on a trip. Using thick woolen threads, the soil will be gradually moistened for a long time as needed.

Thread holder

Using the same principle that we used to make a mug, you can make a holder for knitting threads. The difference between the product and a mug is that a hole is made in the wall of the holder with a soldering iron to allow the thread to pass through. And the jumper size is much longer. This holder can be conveniently attached to the back of a chair, and if necessary, you can make several of them. Then, when knitting multi-color patterns, the threads will not get tangled. You can also try the option shown in the photo above. In this case, part of the bottle with the neck is used and the knitting thread is passed through it.

Toilet paper holder

An economical and simple solution for a country toilet. To make the holder you will need a five-liter plastic bottle, a wooden skewer and a paper knife. Cut the top of the bottle to the required size. Then we make holes in the walls of the bottle with a soldering iron, put a roll of toilet paper on a skewer and insert it into the holes. As you can see, there is nothing complicated. To make it easier to fix the skewer, you can put rubber bands from old earbud headphones on the ends of the skewer.

Cover for a wet umbrella in the car

Accidentally got caught in the rain, and in the car, as a rule, there is no place to put a wet umbrella. There is a solution. You can easily make an umbrella cover for this situation with your own hands. The design is extremely simple, as can be seen in the photo above. The bottom of a plastic bottle of a suitable size is cut off, and twine of the required length is inserted into the slots in the walls. The structure is attached to the headrest of the front seat. Now a wet umbrella does not threaten the car interior with stains.

Why buy a special palette if you can easily make an original and functional analogy from available materials? All you need is an old DVD, superglue and a few plastic bottle caps. For our purposes, wide-sized caps are preferable. We coat the bottoms of the caps with superglue and carefully glue them onto the used disk, giving it a second life. The original and bright palette is ready. We think your child will appreciate the invention and be delighted.

You need to sift the flour to bake fluffy pancakes, but you forgot to take the sieve from home to the dacha? A plastic bottle has no competition here either. Take a plastic bottle of the required size and cut off part of the wall, as shown in the photo. Using a hot needle, we make a lot of pinholes in the opposite wall. The sieve is ready.

We make dumplings or dumplings by hand. Many people use a glass or mug to form round blanks. However, this is not always convenient due to the thick edges of the glass or mug. The edges end up smeared or torn, which can negatively impact how our final product looks. To form blanks for dumplings or dumplings, you can make a contour from a plastic bottle of sufficient rigidity. Well, here it is as convenient for anyone. In this case, some people use the cut off neck of a bottle of the required diameter, but for some housewives the bottom is more convenient. When using a contour, the edges of the dough are smooth, clearly cut, and the appearance of the prepared dumpling or dumpling is pleasantly pleasing to the eye.

Tear-off tape holder

How wildly annoying it is sometimes when, breaking your nails, you unsuccessfully try to find the runaway edge of the tape, painfully pick it out, and when, it would seem, the goal has been achieved, as luck would have it, there are no scissors at hand to cut off the necessary fragment. Sound familiar? Unpleasant, but completely solvable.
To solve this problem, we will need superglue, a disposable plastic knife, a wooden ice cream stick or a wooden skewer, depending on the size of the tape. Cut off the top and bottom of a plastic bottle to the desired size. We glue the cutting serrated part of the knife to the edge of the neck of a plastic bottle with superglue. We make slits in the walls of the bottle with a paper knife, into which we insert a wooden stick or skewer with a roll of adhesive tape put on it, after first stretching the tape into the neck and securing it to the knife, we insert the upper part into the bottom. Now you can easily and conveniently, without unnecessary movements, separate the pieces of tape you need. If the tape is wide enough and you are using a five-liter plastic bottle, it is likely that the neck diameter will not be enough to allow the tape to pass through. In this case, cut the neck of the bottle to the required width, and secure the cutting edge of the knife with superglue to the edge of the bottle.

A very necessary and useful thing, especially when moving, while the dishes are not disassembled, or for use in a workshop or garage.
We take a plastic bottle, try it on the neck, putting on a plastic cup (to determine the required diameter), mark it with a marker, and cut it off just above the mark. We cut off the bottom of the bottle, but do not throw it away; later we use it as a lid. We put double-sided tape on the wall of the bottle along its entire length and attach it to the wall, with the hole where the neck was previously facing down. The holder is ready. Place the glasses inside and close with the lid-bottom.

Lawn sprayer

There is no need to buy expensive nozzles to diffuse the water jet. An ordinary plastic bottle will do the job perfectly. Just make a lot of small holes in it and attach it to a water supply adapter or garden hose. When water is supplied, the bottle's capacity will soon fill, and water under pressure will be perfectly dispersed over a fairly large distance through the holes in the surface of the bottle. Cheap, as they say, and cheerful.

Garlic peeler.

Before

After

In order to quickly peel a large amount of garlic at once, we do not have to perform any technological tricks on a plastic bottle. Simply place the garlic cloves in a small plastic bottle, screw on the cap and shake vigorously, hitting the bottle in the palm of your hand. A few seconds, and the head of garlic is peeled. You can use garlic for cooking. All effort is to remove the husk. The result is in the photo above.

Hello, dear visitors of the site “Visiting Samodelkin”. Today I want to talk about how I make beer mugs from empty bottles and glass jars.

I talked (and showed) about how I cut glass bottles.

Mostly I cut empty vodka bottles.

I used the resulting glasses for their intended purpose in my workshop (drink some water, for example... Or draw water to cool workpieces and tools!)))))...

My daughter used some of them to decorate the house for the New Year!

But one day I came across several larger bottles... Liter bottles from Nemirov vodka:

And this one, from sparkling wine:

And the idea came to me to turn them into beer mugs... And this is what I needed for this:

1. Empty glass bottles.
2. Plastic bottles.
3. M8 stud trims.
4. Remains of stainless steel sheets.
5. M8 cap nuts.
6. Cuttings of stainless steel sheets, 1 mm thick.

Not a lot of tools were needed either:

1. Engraver with a diamond disc.
2. Grinder with cutting, cleaning and flap wheels.
3. Drill.
4. Technical hair dryer.
5. Technical (stationery) knife.

So, let's begin... First of all, I removed the stickers from the bottles... For this operation, I usually use a cut-off five-liter plastic water bottle. I stuff glass bottles tightly into it and fill it with water, adding a little detergent. As a rule, the next morning all the stickers come off:

The next day I cut the bottles with an engraver:

I came across a large glass jar of instant coffee... I decided that it would also make a good beer mug:

I decided to make handles for the mugs from the necks of vodka bottles. I cut them off using the same method:

Since I only had two bottles with long necks, I cut up a few more simple vodka bottles, simultaneously making a few more glasses so that the good stuff wouldn’t go to waste))))

Since the neck of a vodka bottle is not long enough to use as a comfortable handle, I decided to connect them in pairs. To do this, I cut off several pieces of M8 pins that I had in stock. You can use any other hairpin, both thinner and thicker... But I didn’t mind this one!)))).

And I had two cap nuts per mug in my stock of exactly this size:

I glued the necks together in pairs, securing them with a pin. I took the first glue that came to me, since gluing has more of a technological effect - later I decided to fasten the necks using a different method.

After the glue had dried, I cut off the neck of a plastic beer bottle, glued it on and cascaded it, heating it with a technical hair dryer:

I trimmed off the excess with a technical knife:

(By the way, this turned out to be not so easy to do! After casing with a hairdryer, the plastic (PET) becomes very hard. Moreover, its layer has become thicker.)

The handle is almost ready. Now you need to somehow secure it to the mug. To do this, I decided to make brackets from stainless steel. I still have scraps of some kind of body from something... From it I cut out several strips with a grinder:

Having trimmed them with a hammer, I rounded the edges and smoothed the strips with a flap sanding wheel:

I drilled holes at the ends using a drill and an 8mm drill bit.

After that I polished it slightly:

Now you need to attach these strips to the glass parts of the mugs. I decided to do the preliminary fastening using double-sided foam tape. (I just came across it))))

Since the ribbon was wide, I “halved” it lengthwise with a knife:

I glued the resulting strips onto the strips like this, and glued the metal strips to the circles:

I think everyone understood why I did it this way, in two rows along the edges... The surface of the mug is cylindrical, and the strip is flat. For reliable fastening, it is necessary to compensate for the gaps formed at the edges of the strip. They are filled with the adhesive composition of the tape:

I did not glue along the entire length, but only the middle part, since the edges will later be bent and form a bracket for attaching the handle from the necks.

Of course, double-sided tape will not provide reliable fastening! I decided to perform the main fastening using the same method that I used to fasten the necks, namely, using the heat-shrinkable properties of PET bottles.

The middle parts were cut out from two-liter plastic beer bottles:

I put them on my mug blanks and trimmed them using a technical hair dryer:

The edges turned out very uneven, so I trimmed them with a knife. To cut evenly, I pre-wound “template lines” of electrical tape:

So, in fact, everything is ready... All that remains is to bend the edges of the plates to form brackets, insert the handles and tighten them with studs using cap nuts.

Since the pin has an outer diameter that is significantly smaller than the inner diameter of the bottle neck, this difference must be compensated. This will prevent the handles from moving in the brackets. To do this, I cut out strips from beer bottles, equal in width to the length of the handles, twisted them into a tube and stuffed them inside the “handles”:

Now the handles will not dangle. And from an aesthetic point of view, they will look more complete. We insert it. Secure with nuts.
