Download Spanish for beginners from scratch. Spanish

Good November day everyone!

One of my professional dreams has come true - at the language center where I work, they are recruiting a group of adults who will learn Spanish from scratch.

I think everyone who is familiar with this language will understand me - it sounds very beautiful, especially in songs.

I also have to choose a Spanish textbook. And I treat foreign textbooks like a child treats new toys - I search for the entire educational textbook on the Internet, then click the “download” button and look impatiently at the download window. And then I clap my hands when the message “file downloaded” pops up on the screen.

Spanish Spanish textbooks

Why take a textbook that is not written in our language?! Because he:

  • built on a communicative principle and focused primarily on spoken language, which is the goal of almost all adult learners
  • prepares for the international DELE exam
  • includes not only a book for the student, but also a teacher’s kit with all the goodies
  • does not have errors that appear in Russian-language textbooks

Suena

Po Sueña taught 4 years ago when she worked at a language center. My impressions were not the most favorable - it lacks what I love so much in everything - structure. Some grammatical exercises are given illogically, and in some places they are weak. But the wording of the task for the exercise is written in such a way that even a language learner can easily understand it. But I don’t recommend taking it on your own, only with a teacher who will “filter” and “dilute” it where necessary.

Mañana

Another textbook, also popular in courses. It seemed to me very similar to the previous one, and, judging by the reviews, it is intended for teenagers. Having looked through the Mañana textbook, I didn’t feel love at first sight, so it remained in its folder.

About ¡A bordo! I found out from a forum for teachers, I had never heard of it before. The textbook makes the most favorable impression - colorful, structured, interesting. But, like any barrel of honey, there is a fly in the ointment - it’s difficult to find on the Internet, and affording a whole set (if your employer doesn’t pay for it) is not a cheap pleasure.

Español en marcha

It’s a good textbook (we know each other only superficially), but the Internet also doesn’t have all the parts I need for it (and I need not only a book for the student with audio and a workbook, but also a book for the teacher, a collection of tests and additional tasks for practicing skills ), so also past the cash register and into the folder with textbooks.

Prisma

My student Katerina, who is learning Spanish with a native speaker, told me about the Prisma textbook, and in it I found something for myself perfect combination“like + freely available.” Perhaps after some time my thoughts will change, but at the first stage of getting to know Prisma I am quite happy with it.

Gramática

Without grammar, of course, you can’t go anywhere, even in communication courses.

Gramática de Uso del Español is very similar to the good old Murphy - theory on the left, exercises on the right, keys in the back. Everything is clear and understandable. We'll definitely take it.

Russian textbooks on Spanish

They are best taken as an addition to a Spanish-language book. I do this when it’s interesting to see how this or that rule is explained in Russian or when I’m too lazy to come up with a translation for a topic.

Espanol in vivo

This self-teacher of the Spanish language by Georgy Nuzhdin - “Textbook of modern Spanish with keys and pointers” - I recommend to everyone who is eager to learn for themselves. Recycling of material, clearly written rules, abundant exercises for practicing vocabulary and grammar - in short, paradise for a beginner in Spanish.

Spanish for everyone

We were taught at the university using Komarova’s textbook “Spanish for Everyone.” To be honest, this training was more like saving a drowning man by the drowning man himself, so it can also be taken by anyone who wants to learn the language on their own - with some perseverance, they will succeed. Of all the Spanish textbooks I have worked with, this one seemed to me the most sensible.

Spanish course for beginners

Dyshleva taught the “Spanish Language Course for Beginners” herself at non-state university. On the one hand, it’s not bad for beginners - the grammar is easily explained, there are not many exercises for practicing it (and for practicing vocabulary too), but there are no keys to the exercises, and there is no audio... How to find out for yourself that you are pronouncing words clumsily and are you constructing sentences?

Ms. Dyshlevaya also has a specific sense of humor, and in translation tasks every now and then you come across sentences like: “Why is everyone looking at me? “The thing is, you just lost your skirt!” and “A woman is a man’s friend.” Among the exercises for practicing reading there are funny dialogues:

(La mujer y su marido entran en su apartamento.) (The wife and husband enter their apartment.)

Marido: Estoy muy cansado. Tengo hambre.
Husband: I'm very tired. I am hungry.

Mujer: Pronto vamos a cenar. ¿Quieres tomar algo?
Wife: We'll have dinner soon, would you like something to drink?

Marido: Si, una cerveza, favor.
Husband: Yes, beer please.

Mujer: ¡Vaya! ¿Pero qué pasa? ¡Todo está sucio!
Wife: Wow! What happened? All bottles are empty!

Marido: No sé, mira, hay un monton de botellas vacías sobre la mesa.
Husband: I don’t know, look, there are a bunch of empty bottles under the table.

Mujer: No entiendo nada, en la nevera no hay nada de comer.
Wife: I don’t understand anything, there is no food in the refrigerator.

Marido: ¡Y mi botella de coñac está vacía!
Husband: And my bottle of cognac is empty!

Mujer: ¿Y dónde está Alfonso?
Wife: Where's Alfonso?

Marido: Creo que acaba de salir.
Husband: I think he just left.

I find this type of humor inappropriate in the classroom, so the textbook needs to be carefully moderated. It also seemed to me that while teaching I came across mistakes, but specific examples didn't remember.

This concludes the review of Spanish textbooks, and for all those interested there will be a separate article about additional materials in the Spanish lesson.

Good luck to everyone and students!

You have decided to start learning Spanish on your own, but which textbook should you choose? The article offers you an overview of the most popular Spanish textbooks from both Russian and Spanish publishing houses. The review highlights the main characteristics of textbooks, as well as the pros and cons of using manuals for self-study.

1. Spanish course for beginners. Español para empezar. I.A. Dyshlevaya.

One of the most popular Russian-language Spanish textbooks. Consists of two parts. The first includes an introductory course and 11 lessons. Each lesson includes an extensive grammar section and exercises aimed at practicing grammar. This is followed by texts or dialogues on the topic of the lesson and a lexical and grammatical commentary. Each lesson also includes a test text and a text for independent study.

Exercises for practicing vocabulary and grammar are presented in different formats: dialogues for translation from/to Spanish, sentences for translation, communicative exercises, insertion exercises (sentences or words), paraphrase exercises and others.

In terms of self-study, the disadvantage of the manual can be considered the too large amount of new grammar proposed in each lesson - it is difficult for students learning the language on their own to divide this information into logical blocks. A significant drawback is the lack of an audio application and keys to the exercises. However, few textbooks for learning Spanish require answers to the exercises.

The undoubted advantage is the simplicity and detail of the presentation of grammatical material, and the variety of exercises for training. The textbook focuses on the nuances of the structure of language; only the simple present tense is studied, which is fundamental. In general, the content of the manual corresponds to the “Beginner” level in the pan-European level system (for example, Beginner or Starter in English),

The second part of the textbook is a Spanish language course for advanced students. Español para continuar.

Unlike the first part of the manual, where the wording of the tasks is given in Russian, in this part all tasks are proposed in Spanish. The logic of the lesson and the variety of tasks are similar to the first part. The grammar is presented in less detail, but the textbook is grammatically much more complex. This part of the textbook covers the requirements for levels A2 and B1.

A classic tutorial that includes an introductory course about letters, sounds and intonation, as well as setting out basic principles, for example, conjugation of present tense verbs (including exception verbs), accompanied by thematic dialogues with lexical and grammatical comments.

The main course consists of 18 lessons. Each lesson begins with a dialogue or text adapted from a classic, followed by lexical commentary and exercises. The dialogue-comment-exercise pattern is repeated three times in each lesson. This is convenient, since when studying independently, the lesson is logically divided into blocks. It should be noted that the exercises are quite monotonous and boring, aimed exclusively at mechanical training.

3. Spanish textbook. Practical course for beginners. E. I. Rodriguez-Danilevskaya, A. I. Patrushev, I. L. Stepunina.

The manual consists of 20 lessons, each of which contains information on grammar and vocabulary, the first lessons also contain a part on the phonetics of the Spanish language. Each lesson includes several theoretical paragraphs, accompanied by vocabulary and exercises. In the lessons, the grammatical and lexical parts are clearly separated. At the end of the lesson there is a main text (or dialogue) and lexical and grammatical exercises on it. For additional training, texts with expanded vocabulary on the topic are offered.

A certain disadvantage can be considered a large number of unnecessary theoretical points, for example, students studying the language on their own do not need data on triphthongs or sound assimilation. The presentation of the material out of context, as well as the nature of the selection of theoretical paragraphs within the lesson, do not seem very successful.

4. Español en vivo. Textbook of modern Spanish. Georgy Nuzhdin, Carmen Marin Estremera, Paloma Martin Laura-Tamayo.

A very popular textbook, suitable for both independent language learning and for classes with a teacher. The first and obvious advantage of this manual is the presence of keys to the exercises, which is extremely important when practicing on your own. And also, the presence of a high-quality audio application.

The structure of the textbook resembles authentic Spanish textbooks: each lesson is divided into 5 blocks, each of which contains grammar, vocabulary, communicative tasks and text. At the end of each block there is a dictionary. What is impressive is that the textbook uses adapted fragments of original works and poems as texts.

Unlike many textbooks, the manual highlights not only lexical, but also communicative topics. Each block in the lesson has a title that conveys a specific communicative goal. One can note the variety of vocabulary and sufficient richness of grammar.

The grammar is presented schematically, but quite clearly, there is no overload of theory. The exercises are quite varied and it should be noted that there are a huge number of reproduction tasks, that is, not only traditional insertion exercises or paraphrases, but tasks in which the student himself formulates statements, comes up with stories, describes something using certain vocabulary and grammar.

5. Spanish in 3 weeks. Basic audio course. Carlos Suaras Parairo, Volkov B.N.

This is an audio course developed in Spain, but adapted for the Russian user. It should be noted that the manual has a non-standard structure. It is divided into 13 chapters, within each chapter there are several grammatical parts, the number of which differs from chapter to chapter, after some grammatical blocks there are exercises, after others - not, the same applies to lists of new words. The vocabulary in the manual is not structured. After all the grammatical topics of the chapter, there are trainings (2-3 in the chapter), which are ordinary exercises; at the end of the chapter there is a dialogue illustrating the words and rules studied in the chapter.

In addition to the main part, the manual includes a phonetic course and additional texts at the end of the textbook.

Despite the fact that the manual is positioned as a full-fledged self-instruction manual, it is more advisable to use it as a grammar reference, since the tasks included in the textbook are not enough for high-quality training of skills.

The textbook is divided into 25 lessons. It should be noted that the increase in grammatical complexity is very intensive, since according to the author’s idea, the textbook should help the student master the language from scratch to a level of relatively fluent proficiency.

Each lesson includes a grammar topic, texts and dialogues, various exercises and comments, communicative tasks, essays, as well as tests and tests.

The presence of control materials is convenient, but the lack of keys makes independent use of these materials impossible.

7. Curso Intensivo de Español para Extranjeros. Intensive Spanish course. L.Busquetes and L.Bonzi.

The Spanish-language manual is divided into 42 lessons, after every 6 lessons a knowledge test is offered. Theoretical material is presented schematically; the standard first spread of a lesson is a page with diagrams and a page with an illustration of the theory - these can be pictures, or, in more advanced lessons, dialogues or texts. The exercises offered in each lesson are quite primitive - insert words, write endings, combine phrases. However, there are quite a lot of them. Communication tasks include composing phrases and dialogues based on pictures. There are keys to all exercises at the end of the manual. Also, audio material is included with the textbook.

Since the course is intensive, the complexity of the material increases rapidly, so at a certain stage it becomes necessary to use additional materials.

A multi-level manual published by Edelsa Grupo Didascalia, each part of which consists of a textbook and workbook, accompanied by audio materials.

The first part, Nuevo Ven 1, is divided into 15 units containing exercises aimed at developing communication skills. This manual will be quite familiar to students, since unlike most authentic manuals, the units have a clear grammatical block on a separate spread. In addition, each unit contains materials aimed at studying the cultural characteristics of Spanish-speaking countries.

9. En Acción. Elena Verdía, Marisa González, Felipe Martín, Inmaculada Molina, Conchi Rodrigo.

Multi-level Spanish manual, publishing houses en Clave. The first part is aimed at level A1-A2. Consists of 12 units, in each unit block there are clearly marked tasks for listening, reading, oral and written communication, as well as speaking. The grammar is presented in small tablets.

The textbook is entirely written in Spanish, but all tasks and explanations are presented quite simply, and students who have experience learning other languages using authentic manuals will even be able to navigate this textbook on their own. The manual comes with a CD of excellent quality listening.

The disadvantages include a limited number of exercises per training, which means the selection of additional materials is necessary. In addition, the complexity of the proposed material is growing very rapidly. The advantage of this textbook is the visual presentation of new material, accompanied by appropriate listening.

10. Suena. Español Lengua Extranjera. M.ª Ángeles Álvarez Martínez, Ana Blanco Canales, M.ª Luisa Gómez Sacristán, Nuria Pérez de la Cruz.

A fairly new manual from the Spanish publishing house Anaya ele. Consists of 4 parts. The first textbook includes material corresponding to the language volume of levels A1-A2. The Libro del Alumno (textbook) is accompanied by a Cuaderno de Ejercicios (workbook), as well as audio CDs for both manuals. The textbook is divided into 10 lessons; at the end of each lesson, material aimed at introducing the culture of Spain and Latin America is offered; after every 3 lessons, a block of tasks is offered to review the material studied. At the end of the textbook there is a glossary made up of selected vocabulary (with translations into English, German, French, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese).

This textbook is distinguished by exceptional simplicity in the formulation of tasks, so even without the help of a teacher, a person learning a language from scratch will be able to navigate the manual. The exercises are simple, but varied and in sufficient quantity. Unlike many authentic textbooks, this textbook can actually be used when learning the language on your own.

In general, textbooks from Spanish publishing houses, written entirely in Spanish, are distinguished by greater consistency and naturalness in the combination of grammatical and lexical topics, as well as the nature of the presentation of new material. In addition, it is obvious that the authentic manuals exclude errors that are often found in Russian manuals.
