Laying planter standard profiled membrane. Planter protective membrane: installation, planter laying. What does classic foundation preparation look like?

The importance of waterproofing is difficult to overestimate. Insufficient attention to this aspect of construction leads to gross technological violations during the work process, and ultimately to a reduction in the service life of the entire building or part of it. That is why Job on the creation waterproofing- one of main directions development of producers building materials. An innovative development in this area has been membrane insulation and, in particular, profiled membranes.

Geomembrane: technical characteristics and parameters

Geomembrane is an insulating thermoplastic material made of polyethylene. Characterized by increased strength and a wide range of applications. Depending on the type of source material, geomembranes are divided into:

  1. LDPE (low density polyethylene), or LDPE (high-density polyethylene).
  2. HDPE (high density polyethylene), or HDPE (low-density polyethylene).

Comparative characteristics of the physical properties of various geomembranes are presented in the table:

Functions and benefits of the material

A profiled membrane is a LDPE geomembrane with a distinctive feature: the presence of many hollow protrusions on the surface. Their height ranges from 7 to 20 mm. The protrusions are arranged in an orderly manner on one side of the material and do not interfere with its bending.

Thanks to the presence of protrusions, the pressure is evenly distributed over the entire area of the professional membrane, which avoids point deformation. When used as ventilation insulation, a profiled geomembrane ensures heat exchange inside the structure. Due to its characteristics, the professional membrane can replace granular drainage materials, which will significantly save money and effort.

Advantages of a profiled geomembrane:

  • high strength;
  • resistance to chemical, temperature and biological influences;
  • durability(more than 50 years of guaranteed operation);
  • ease of processing and installation;
  • affordable price.

Application areas of profiled membranes

  • profiled membranes are used in the following areas:
  • main protection foundation waterproofing(from the root system of plants and trees, groundwater, soil shrinkage and mechanical damage during backfilling);
  • wall foundation drainage(protects the foundation from groundwater and precipitation, directing them into the drainage pipe);
  • horizontal reservoir drainage (the point structure provides protection against punching);
  • replacement of concrete preparation(when constructing buildings on soil with low water levels, when only horizontal waterproofing of the slab from capillary moisture is used; prevents “cement milk” from seeping into the ground);
  • ventilation of damp walls(when mounted on the inside of the building, it ensures air circulation; when mounted on the outside, it provides optimal temperature and humidity);
  • inversion exploitable roof.

Professional membrane is used for the construction of such objects as:

  1. solid waste and software landfills;
  2. ash dumps;
  3. reservoir square;
  4. chemical waste sarcophagi;
  5. tailings and sludge storage facilities;
  6. open and closed water facilities, incl. cascading;
  7. irrigation canals and water conduits;
  8. road surfaces;
  9. port facilities;
  10. underground parking lots and garages;
  11. landfills for storing waste from the oil and gold mining industries;
  12. tunnels and underground passages;
  13. basements and cellars;
  14. industrial and domestic wastewater receivers;
  15. escalators;
  16. gas pipelines;
  17. agricultural buildings (for lines for manure removal and storage of mineral fertilizers);
  18. cooling towers

Types of profiled membranes

Protective profiled membranes are divided into 3 types.

  • Single layer fabric. It is used to protect the main waterproofing, rehabilitate damp walls and replace concrete preparation.
  • Double layer fabric ( professional membrane + geotextile). Used for wall drainage.
  • Three-layer fabric ( professional membrane + geotextile + sliding layer). It is used in soils with the potential for frost heaving (the sliding layer allows the membrane to move without damage) and deep soils.

Application technology

The technology for laying a profiled membrane depends on its area of application.

Replacement of concrete preparation:

  1. Leveling and compacting soil. To neutralize capillary moisture, it is recommended to make a substrate of fine crushed stone with a thickness of at least 10 cm.
  2. Cutting and laying the material with an overlap of longitudinal seams by 7-10 cm, transverse seams by 20 cm. A prerequisite is a 50-centimeter offset of the transverse seams relative to each other.
  3. Sealing seams using double-sided adhesive tape or synthetic rubber.
  4. Installation of fittings on the membrane using plastic clamps.

Foundation waterproofing protection:

  1. Cut and lay the professional membrane with the side with the protrusions facing the waterproofing.
  2. Stretch the membrane over the insulation and attach it to the wall.
  3. Fixation with self-adhesive nails.

Foundation drainage:

  1. Cutting and laying profiled drainage membrane. The upper edge should extend beyond the foundation by at least 10 cm, the lower edge should be brought to the drainage pipe.
  2. Fixation on external thermal insulation using plastic screws (1 piece per 1 sq.m.). The top edge is secured using a strip.
  3. Layer-by-layer backfill with mandatory compaction of each layer.
  4. The installation of a roof and blind area using membrane insulation is shown in the diagrams.

Video: "Waterproofing the foundation with a profiled membrane"

The profiled membrane (PLANTER) is a sheet of high-density polyethylene (HPDE) with molded round protrusions 8 mm high.

The surface of the planter effectively distributes soil pressure over the entire area of the base or foundation of buildings and structures. This eliminates the formation of local (point) loads.

The space between the wall and the planter canvas, formed by the protrusions, allows air to circulate freely, improving the temperature and humidity conditions of the room.

Planter is characterized by high mechanical strength and resistance to chemically aggressive environments, is not susceptible to the destructive effects of mold and bacteria, and is resistant to the germination of tree roots.

The planter can be laid both horizontally and vertically. If necessary, you can weld the sheets together along a specially provided flat edge.

Membrane PLANTER– geosynthetic material produced by TechnoNIKOL. TechnoNIKOL is the largest supplier of waterproofing materials and roofing coatings.

Types of Planter membrane:

  • PLANTER eco
  • PLANTER geo
  • PLANTER standard

The Planter membrane is made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE). It is a surface with rounded protrusions, the diameter of which is 8 mm.

A layer of thermally bonded geotextile is additionally attached to the PLANTER geo membrane on top. This layer prevents silting of the material.

Due to its unusual structure (with protrusions), when pressure is applied to the Planter membrane, it is evenly distributed over the entire area. In this case, individual point loads are completely eliminated.

Protrusions on the surface of the membrane promote free air circulation between the canvas and the wall, normalizing the temperature and humidity conditions of the room.

Planter is a very durable membrane that is resistant to aggressive (chemical) environments, mold, bacteria, and ultraviolet radiation.

When used, two options for the location of the membrane are possible - vertical and horizontal. To connect individual membrane sheets together, welding is used along the flat edge of the membrane.

Field of application of Planter membrane

PLANTER geo:
  • Manufacturing of wall drainage
  • Creation of drainage in exploited roofs
PLANTER standard, eco:
  • Protection of waterproofing coatings
  • Replacement of concrete preparation
  • Rehabilitation of damp walls from the outside and inside of the building

Waterproofing systems have been developed using several types of materials. The product line includes everything you need: from primers, insulation boards to protective membranes. Planter is a new development from the manufacturer: a universal material with a wide range of applications. Planter protective fabric is used as the top layer of a waterproofing system, a primary drainage material, and replaces the concrete layer in preparation for pouring the foundation and constructing areas for laying paving slabs.

Planter membrane is a rolled synthetic protective material. Hollow spikes are pressed into the polymer canvas in a checkerboard pattern.

Automation and control: production facilities

Manufacturing material – high density polyethylene. PVP is produced using extrusion technology. The production process is automated, and adherence to technology is strictly controlled at each stage. To produce particularly durable polyethylene, a special formula of raw materials has been developed. The fabrics are entirely pressed, without seams.

Planter membrane: a universal product

Polyethylene for making planter is a high-strength fabric with a uniform, dense internal structure, which has increased elasticity and resistance to any type of damage.

Advantages:

  • Wide operating temperature range. The material retains its performance qualities without loss of elasticity even at an air temperature of -45 o.
  • Durability. The manufacturer guarantees 60 years of operation of the membranes, subject to installation recommendations.
  • Elasticity. The material can withstand increased loads without the risk of ruptures.
  • Resistance to aggressive substances. Polyethylene sheets are not destroyed when exposed to chemicals and can be installed in aggressive soils.
  • Environmental friendliness. Planter protective membrane is not only for outdoor use. The material can be mounted on the surface of walls and floors inside buildings, in residential premises.
  • Easy to install. The universal material is mounted in two directions: horizontal and vertical. The edges of the canvases can be connected using a special fixing tape, without using hot welding technology.

Main functions of protective profile membranes

The TechnoNIKOL company produces profiled Planter membranes for use in private and industrial construction. Main functions:

  • Protection of external insulation systems from mechanical damage is necessary both at the stage of backfilling pits and during operation.

  • Primary water drainage when installing wall drainage. Water drainage is ensured by the cavities of the studded fabric. The minimum moisture removal is up to 5 liters per meter of area.
  • Preparation device for a monolithic or slab foundation. The Planter Standard membrane replaces a layer of concrete, which is poured using traditional technology before installing the slabs.
  • As a drainage basis when arranging courtyards and paths, blind area.

Water drainage and wall protection from capillary moisture

  • Sanitation of wet surfaces. Installation of canvases on damp walls is allowed: ventilation and free air circulation are provided by channels on the surface of the membrane.
  • Protection and removal of moisture from flat and used green roofs. Used in combination with multilayer insulation. Protects the surface from germination of plant roots and deformation of insulating layers.
  • Soundproofing. Mounted for soundproofing residential premises: under the floor covering.

TechnoNIKOL membrane protective products for private and commercial construction

There are 2 product types in the Planter line of profiled membranes:

  1. Single-layer fabric, marked Standard, Eco or Extra.
  2. Two-layer material with geotextile fabric applied over a polyethylene base, marked Geo and Geo Extra.

The TechnoNIKOL company offers Planter Standard for protecting the structures of low-rise private houses. Extra level materials are intended for work at large industrial facilities, in difficult soils, and at significant depths.

Planter Standart: characteristics and application

Planter Standard is a universal membrane designed for use in the construction of private and commercial buildings. The thickness of the canvas is 0.55 mm. The length of the membrane in a roll is 20 m.

Application:

  1. In the outer layer of external foundation insulation. The material protects the surface from local pinpoint damage from stones, evenly distributes the load from soil pressure, prevents the penetration of ground moisture, and removes water from the wall.
  1. For arranging the preparatory layer for the foundation. In dense soils, the membrane can be installed instead of a concrete pad. At the same time, the issue of reservoir drainage is being resolved. Installing sheets reduces the overall cost of work and saves time: pouring and setting concrete preparation takes up to 2 weeks, and installing polyethylene takes several hours.
  1. For laying under the blind area.
  1. As insulation of wet basement walls outside and inside.

Eco membrane: the best choice for private homes

Among the profiled products of TechnoNIKOL is the Planter Eco membrane. The canvas is not inferior in functionality to a Standard level product. The physical characteristics and internal structure of the material are optimized for use in private construction. The strength and elasticity of the membrane is sufficient for installing protective systems in low-rise buildings, inside and outside basements located at shallow depths.

Eco: budget alternative

Also, the Eco Planter profile membrane can be used as a replacement for a concrete pad under the foundation in stable, dry soils, with a depth of up to 1.5 - 3 m, for arranging a base for tiles in private courtyards. The thickness of the material is standard, 0.55 m. The roll contains a solid sheet 20 m long.

Extra products: protection in difficult conditions with increased loads

Extra: material for complex objects

An increased strength membrane – Planter Extra – has been developed for use in industrial construction. Canvases are used:

  • When arranging the roofs of stylobates, multi-storey buildings - regardless of the complexity of the structure.
  • For the protection of waterproofing materials in industrial facilities under construction.
  • When preparing pits for monolithic foundations, during the construction of bridges, roads, tunnels.
  • As a soundproofing and additional thermal and moisture-proof layer in underground structures - parking lots, basements of residential buildings.
  • When constructing objects in complex, heaving soils.

The strength and elasticity of material marked Extra exceeds that of standard fabrics by almost 2 times. Weight is 0.8 kg per meter.

Geo protective membrane: primary drainage and moisture protection of walls

Planter Geo membrane is a two-layer material. A water-permeable material – geotextile – is attached to a base made of profiled polyethylene. The membrane performs the following functions:

  • Drainage.
  • Protective.

The canvas, which is attached to the spikes, allows moisture to pass through, but retains soil particles and debris. Channels, which are formed by protrusions on the surface of the polyethylene, drain water to the drainage pipe. Multilayer fabrics are fixed on horizontal and vertical surfaces. The material is used when organizing wall drainage lines, reservoir drainage layers, and surface drainage systems at sites where tiles are planned to be laid.

Planter Extra Geo: product for industrial facilities and roofs

Cloth for use in difficult conditions: Extra Geo

Reinforced profiled membrane Planter Geo Extra is a professional material for use:

  • In drainage and insulation systems of underground facilities, with a depth of up to 10 m.
  • To protect open tunnel structures.
  • In the arrangement of green roofs, roofs of business facilities.
  • In the construction of large open drained areas, stadiums, roads.

Extra class material differs from Standard products in increased weight, denser internal structure and improved strength and load resistance.

Characteristics

Auxiliary and connecting materials

In addition to membrane roll materials, the manufacturer’s line includes all the necessary accompanying materials for fixing the fabric to different types of surfaces and connecting strips in the vertical and horizontal plane.

Planter Profile polyethylene profile is made from high-density polymer. The products are designed for pressing the fabric onto waterproofing sheathings. Install the profile on top of the profile membrane, above the waterproofing materials. The polymer strip also performs a protective function: the profile prevents moisture from entering the insulating layers.
The following are used as fasteners for rolled profile sheets:

  • Dowels with washers. The dowels are made of high-strength steel, the washers are made of dense polyethylene. Used for fixing canvases on all types of vertical surfaces. To reduce the load on 1 fastening unit, a special shape of the pressure washer has been developed, thanks to which the weight of the sheet is distributed evenly over a larger area.

  • Flat adhesive fasteners. To fix expanded polystyrene sheets and membranes on a bitumen base, use plastic fasteners No. 01 TechnoNIKOL. The adhesive base is firmly fixed to the base, and the polyethylene dowel securely holds the canvas without the formation of “cold bridges”.

Plastic dowel with self-adhesive base

To connect membrane strips to each other, use:

  • Planterband is an adhesive tape designed for connecting joints and sealing seams. Polymer-bitumen tape is suitable for working with all types of rolled profiled materials.

  • Nicoband is a rolled material for joining sheets with overlapping edges. The base is aluminum, the adhesive is bitumen-based. The adhesive layer is protected by a transparent film.

Aluminum based sealant

Technology for laying protective membranes in TechnoNIKOL insulation systems

The technology for laying profiled Planter membranes is quite simple. To fix the canvases, when using connecting materials recommended by the manufacturer, the use of hot gluing methods and special tools is not required.

Fastening material to vertical surfaces

Installation of membrane protection is carried out both outside buildings and on the internal walls of wet rooms. For installation in private homes, choose a product of the Standard or Eco level. When it is necessary to connect a membrane to a wall drainage line, it is rational to use material with geotextiles.

Planter Standard membrane sheets, when fixed to a vertical wall, can be laid horizontally and vertically.

Laying fabric with a geotextile layer

The upper edge of the canvas should be 15–20 cm above the waterproofing installation line. When installing a decorative coating, excess material can be trimmed. To fix the sheet, an edge clamping bar is attached.

Aligning edges when mounted vertically

The canvases are laid overlapping. The edges of adjacent strips should be aligned with an overlap of 3 to 4 protrusions. When laying, the seams of the joints are sealed with bitumen-based adhesive tape.

The sheets are fixed using dowels or plastic fasteners if it is necessary to connect the membrane to the bitumen layer.

Horizontal laying of membranes

As preparation for the foundation, Planter Standard is laid directly on the ground. The base must be level, free from hard rocky inclusions. The soil must be compacted. It is allowed to create a gravel cushion up to 10 cm high.

The canvases are rolled out. Be sure to check that folds and creases do not form on the strips. The first roll can be rolled out along the marked line, with the spikes facing down. The following strips are laid with overlapping edges.

Aluminum tape connection

The edges are connected with reinforced tape on an aluminum base.

Connecting strips to textile layer

When using a fabric with a geotextile layer, the edges of the fabrics are connected in two stages. The textile layer is folded back, the polyethylene base is connected with adhesive tape, and the connection is duplicated after laying the edges of the textile.

Inside residential premises, the membrane is laid with the spikes facing up. The membrane performs the function of sound insulation and thermal insulation, protection against moisture infiltration, especially on the first floors. The canvases are laid end to end. The seams between the sheets are taped with polymer-bitumen tape.

Video: using profile membranes

Detailed instructions from the manufacturer on the use of Planter Standard profiled membrane.

The use of membrane materials instead of classical concrete preparation in the construction of foundations is economically beneficial. The costs of arranging the foundation are reduced significantly. In order not to overpay, choose the optimal class of material: for private construction, it is enough to purchase budget Eco canvases. If you need to calculate the number of rolls and choose the type of membrane for a large construction project, contact specialists, because the calculations take into account not only the area and number of floors of the building, but also the characteristics of the soil.

Application of profiled membranesPLANTER is currently the simplest, most reliable and easiest way to protect waterproofing.

System advantages:

  • Significantly facilitates and increases the speed of installation of waterproofing protection compared to traditional solutions;
  • Extends the service life of the system as a whole due to the organization of the most comfortable conditions for the waterproofing layer;

Planter standard – profiled membrane

The durability of the foundation directly depends on the durability of the material of its construction. The main building material used for the construction of foundations is concrete, a strong and reliable material, but with constant contact with wet soil it collapses and loses its bearing capacity, therefore it needs protection from the negative influence of soil and moisture. The more reliable the protection, the longer the foundation will last. To protect concrete, waterproofing is used, as a rule, these are “soft” thin-layer roll or mastic coatings based on modified bitumen, which are quite durable and stable in contact with the ground, but “delicate” and need protection from mechanical damage, punctures and tears. And, as you know, the main causes of problems in technical basements are the appearance of damp spots or water leaks.

Waterproofing protection

Protection of waterproofing along the entire perimeter of the building with profiled membranes PLANTER allows you to avoid mechanical damage to waterproofing during backfilling, increase the reliability of the waterproofing material, thereby extending its service life, and also reduce financial costs in comparison with traditional methods: pressure wall and flat slate. In addition to protecting the waterproofing, the profiled surface of the membrane provides a ventilation gap between the soil and the waterproofing material, thereby creating a favorable microclimate near the foundation walls.

Molded projections of the membrane evenly distribute soil pressure on the waterproofing, while point loads are kept to a minimum. The high compressive strength (up to 28 t/m2) allows the use of the PLANTER srandard TECHNONICOL membrane even with a significant foundation depth.

Comparison of waterproofing protection solutions:

Such types of work are regulated by relevant documents, among them the Code of Rules 45.13330.2012 “Earth structures, foundations and foundations” can be highlighted, which provides a reference to the use of profiled membranes.
