DIY mobile home: design photos, step-by-step work process. We build a mobile home with our own hands. A homemade house for a trailer.

Homemade dacha trailer made from car trailer: photo of the camper being built with detailed description, also a video showing a mobile home.

We decided to build a small residential house on wheels so that we could travel to nature in our car. Since we didn’t have drawings of the camper, we decided to make a removable module for the factory trailer (so that there would be no problems with re-registration of the vehicle).

This is why it was purchased boat trailer from Kurgan plant(only in their title they don’t specify what kind of trailer it is. It’s just a trailer; other manufacturers indicate that it’s a boat trailer and you can’t put a house on it).

The dimensions of the module corresponded to the dimensions of the trailer - 1400 x 2400 mm. Naturally, the removable module must be durable, and even for our roads plywood house It definitely won’t work, I had to weld a steel frame.

The base is welded from a 60 x 30 mm profile, the walls and ceiling are made from a 20 x 20 mm profile. 2 identical arcs were bent on a pipe bender.

The most difficult thing was to think through the doors; it took us 1/3 of the total time spent on the doors. Anyone interested in this topic has seen factory doors, ventilation hatches, gas stoves, sinks, heaters, etc. on American trailers. and so on. There is only one problem: cost. one factory door costs about 700-800 bucks (and you need 2 of them), a sunroof with an exhaust hood costs about 300-400 bucks, I didn’t even look at the sinks and stoves, and so it became clear that we would choose from what we found in hardware stores .

As a result, we made the doors ourselves, because with our course the budget for the doors alone came out to more than 100 thousand (on Alika, Ebay, in Europe, America, Russian online stores - the prices are approximately the same).
We decided to make the doors with power windows, because... This is the easiest way in our opinion. There is no point in describing the whole process, I will only say that making the doors was very tedious. but at cost they came out to 5 rubles per door, taking into account everything. the savings were worth it)
The outside of the building was sheathed aluminum sheets 0.8 mm, we were looking for specially large sheets so that it could be covered with one sheet without joints. As a result, we found AMC2 sheets measuring 1500 x 3000 mm, which suited us quite well.

Now I would choose a composite material for cladding buildings, 4 mm thick (for those who don’t know, these are 2 sheets of 0.4 mm aluminum, and between them a special composite that ideally withstands all weather conditions).

We stuck aluminum onto a plywood backing, riveted it around the perimeter and sealed all the joints. It was possible to leave the trailer aluminum, but initially we wanted a blue one on the outside, so we ordered vinyl film for covering the vehicle in the printing house and covered it on top.
Many people ask about the refrigerator. There is no refrigerator, and there cannot be one, because... The module is removable and has its own car battery. The module wiring is completely autonomous and is not connected to the wiring of the car or trailer in any way. Therefore, there is no way to connect a refrigerator here. Although I don’t understand the problem if it can be placed in the trunk of a car.
We also made 2 220V sockets in the living area, a 400W inverter, enough for both chargers and a TV. LED lighting everywhere.

Water is supplied from a canister by a fountain pump, not very powerful, but economical.
We made a niche for the countertop under the kitchen, it seemed very convenient, but in fact the ribs on top and bottom were made of a 15 x 15 profile, a very flexible and not reliable profile. As a result, the niche bent a little and the chipboard table did not fit there, so we had to make it out of plywood.
After assembly, the trailer was tested by Karcher at all joints, cracks, etc. 100% tightness.

Costs for building a caravan trailer.

We started building the camper in May 2015, and finished it in June 2016. My friend and I work in shifts, i.e. per week 2-3-4 days could be devoted to the trailer. We were very stuck with the kitchen decoration and doors. If you expect to collect it in 3 months, add triple the deadline.

In terms of finances: everything was bought new, nothing used was used. The trailer itself cost 44 thousand, and about 110 thousand was spent on materials. Everything was fixed, right down to the gloves, so the price is close to the real one. You can do it cheaper, but you should know in advance.

By weight: the trailer + module weighs about 600 kg, the module itself is about 460-480 kg. Increased severity a large number of Chipboard, who will do it - look for more lightweight material for partitions.

The 1.4 Octavia passenger car pulls the trailer with a bang. On the highway I accelerated to 130 km/h, the trailer is not felt at all, the streamlined shape practically does not slow down. consumption increases by 1-2 liters. It’s difficult to drive on a bad road above 90, after all, the weight is not small, it jerks the car. But 80-90 is quite acceptable for such a trailer. I drove through the fields dirt roads, the trailer never struck anywhere.

Video that explains in detail makeshift house on wheels.

Let’s say you don’t need to drive straight through peat bogs, but it is quite enough for a trailer or self-propelled camper to withstand a multi-day trip on broken roads with half-wheel holes, bumpy graders and mountain dirt roads with protruding road surface boulders. Alas, it’s not easy to find such equipment ready-made...

But there is an old principle: “if you want something done well, do it yourself.” This is exactly what Ruslan, a car traveler and blogger, known online under the nickname “Off-Road,” decided. In principle, he had plenty of experience: at one time he was the chairman of the Argonaut autotravel club, was involved in organizing mass trips and already had a good idea of what he actually needed. But it is not enough to understand that mobile housing must be able to move not only on asphalt and not crumble. The torment of choice does not end there...

The agony of choice

Actually, all off-road motorhomes can be divided into three groups. Firstly, these are self-propelled campers on all-wheel drive chassis. A huge window of opportunity opens up here. You can take a “loaf” (which in modern times is called UAZ SGR) or Sobol 4x4 and work closely with them interior arrangement. Alas, the internal volume of these vans is quite limited, and the problem of being able to stand at full height arises, excuse the tautology, at full height.

You can take an all-wheel drive chassis - say, a UAZ Pro or Sobol 4x4 Farmer - and build a house on this chassis. Also, in general, it will turn out to be “the house of godfather Pumpkin” - the size of the cargo area of these cars is about 3 meters long and two meters wide, but you can use the space above the cabin.

2 / 2

Our popular mid-size pickups (Mitsubishi L200, Isuzu D-Max, Toyota Hilux) are not very suitable for such purposes: their cargo area is only 1.5 meters long and severely limits the capabilities of camper builders.

You can, of course, find a full-size American pickup truck, but it’s expensive... Or you can aim for “large forms” and take, say, the medium-tonnage Sadko as a basis. By the way, its cargo platform is only slightly larger (compared to the UAZ Profi), but its off-road capabilities are excellent.

But all motorhomes have the same drawback. Just imagine: a man in a campervan goes on vacation with his family. We arrived and found a nice place on the shore of a taiga lake or beautiful view to a mountain valley, they began to settle down, stretched out the awnings, laid out the furniture... And then it turns out that they didn’t buy meat, they ran out of salt, they forgot beer, in the end... What options does the camper owner have? Either he hands the family chairs and leaves them sitting in an open field (the awnings and awnings, of course, will have to be unhooked), while he hurries to the store in the nearest town, or they break up camp and go to the store all together. The same conflict arises when you want to see the sights in the immediate vicinity.

But if you have a trailer, then you simply unhitch the tractor, lock the door and drive lightly.

My home is my castle

So Ruslan decided that he needed a trailer. But there are also two types of trailers capable of following a tractor off-road. Firstly, this is a tent trailer. They are generally very compact and can be towed even by a tiny Suzuki Jimny. By the way, such trailers called “Picnic” are also produced in our country, and they are relatively inexpensive, 250-300 thousand rubles. But... Still, they are designed for operation in summer time: a kitchen module with a stove and a sink is usually made retractable, but the tent, the basis of which is the trailer, still needs to be set up: pull guy lines, hammer in pegs... And you can’t leave such a camp unattended, and deploying a trailer-tent takes time. If a person spent a dozen, or even more hours while driving, he wants only one thing - to sleep, sleep and sleep again!

This means, Ruslan decided, only a rigid trailer, or “caravan” in common parlance, meets his needs. Moreover, even in ready-made trailers of this kind, with which he had to deal, in order to bring the house from the transport position to the “bedroom” position, it is necessary to perform a number of operations - lower the table, put the backrest pillow on it, take out the mattress, spread it, make the bed... This time. This is how the basic concept was formed, and Ruslan got to work.

Go to sleep immediately!

Ruslan purchased the frame ready-made, but modified the suspension in the most radical way. I installed a new, reinforced axle with hubs from Mitsubishi Pajero and hydraulic brakes from the same. Equipped with brake system manual drive, with which you can block the trailer wheels. The axle is suspended on springs from Gazelle, which can be found anywhere, in any region. On back wall The trailer accommodated two spare wheels, plus one more on the car. All wheels are the same and interchangeable, even the rims are the same. A working cylinder from the Volga is implanted into the drawbar, which operates the overrun brake. As a result, the trailer actually overcame very serious obstacles before my eyes, and in order to overcome them, Ruslan had to use both winches installed on his Pajero III.

The frame is made of a hollow aluminum profile, inside of which a sprayed polyurethane insulation is pumped. The same insulation is used for thermal insulation of the main living space. It fills all the cracks and even penetrates microcracks in the plywood from which the walls are made. As a result, the trailer maintains its temperature like a real thermos. In hot weather it is cool, and in cold weather it retains heat for a long time. I confirm: while we were talking with Ruslan, the temperature outside exceeded +26, but coolness reigned inside. Taking all this into account, Ruslan did not bother installing an air conditioner, deciding to rely on natural ventilation.

Then it was time to do the main thing - that is, the internal arrangement. Based on the concept of “sleep immediately!” Ruslan came up with a rather unconventional scheme for transforming the sleeping area: the bed is hidden behind the front inner wall. It turned out to be very convenient: once a latch, two latch - and the bed lowers, where the spring mattress lies. Please note: not “foam”, not foam rubber, but purchased in furniture store full spring mattress. And there is already a sheet laid out and a blanket lying there. You just need to take a pillow from the shelf - and that’s it, you can go to bed. In the morning I got up, threw the pillow on the shelf (by the way, this is not just a shelf, but quite a decent space in which you can organize another bed) and put the bed and blanket away, closing the latches.

Sometimes it's easier to carry cans

A folding table is attached to the same wall. It has two positions. First - coffee table, and its size is quite enough for two to have breakfast. Well, if you need it dinner table, then the table moves forward, a support is placed under it, and a tabletop is obtained. The occupants sit on two voluminous lockers, and inside them there are isolated volumes, accessible from outside the trailer. “Dirty” equipment is placed there: tools, welding machine and similar things. Another such container bigger size, there is in the front. Basically, it fits four bags of inflatable boats, but Ruslan has them there gas cylinder, a fuel tank for a diesel heater and a generator.

In the middle part of the trailer, on the left wall in the direction of travel, there is an absorption-type refrigerator, which can use 220 V, 12 V and gas for power supply. Ruslan bought it used, and is actually not very happy with it. Like all absorption refrigerators, it, of course, uses electricity very economically, but there is a nuance. The system is not filled with freon, but with a mixture of water and ammonia, which gradually begins to crystallize in the coil. There is less and less ammonia in the system, and the device ceases to perform its main function. The only salvation is to pull out the refrigerator and turn it upside down so that the water flows down and washes away the crystals. And this procedure must be repeated ten times. In the new trailer that Ruslan is building together with the company " Leroy Merlin", he used a modern 45 W compression auto-refrigerator. This level of power consumption does not pose any particular problems: Ruslan installed two solar panels and a battery with a capacity of 200 Ah on the roof of the trailer. A 3 kW inverter (it is located under the surface into which the stove is embedded) allows you not to be particularly nervous about the available power.

Canisters for clean water located under the sink. Ruslan deliberately abandoned the built-in tank. He explains it this way: “Well, let’s say there is a spring. I took the cans, arrived, filled them, and set them down. And with a stationary tank, you will need to bring canisters, and then pour them into the filler neck. Pump? It’s not always possible to get close to the water.” But in the new trailer that he is building with Leroy Merlin, Ruslan still hung a reel with a 20-meter hose outside and submersible pump"Baby". This is all connected to tanks inside the trailer, and there is a filler neck.

Experience, the son of difficult mistakes

Naturally, Kitchen Area equipped with a two-burner gas stove. But at first she had to perform not only the functions of a food preparation device... On his first route, Ruslan lost his way with a trailer that was not fully developed. He himself explains it this way:

All summer I tinkered around, built a trailer, and “the poet’s soul couldn’t stand it.” It was so disappointing: 9 months a year you wait for summer, and then summer passed, and I didn’t see it. And then I realized that I needed to break out and go. Actually, that’s how I came up with the idea for the project “From Edge to Edge.” The first stage, from November to March, I traveled alone, with a dog, 26 regions.

He missed the trip without installing the planned auxiliary heater, so he had to heat the trailer with a gas stove, and in order not to get burned, open the ventilation and leave a crack in the window. In the end, he still got burned, but that’s another story... And before that, on the very first cold night, his gas cylinder ran out.

I woke up - cold! Overboard - minus twenty-five. My dog is freezing! I wrapped the dog in two sleeping bags, took out a generator and construction hair dryer, set it to 600 degrees, and we were saved until the morning.

The result of this adventure was the “Planar” diesel heater installed in the trailer, which Ruslan was very pleased with:

While on the go, you lower the temperature to 5-7 degrees, 5-10 minutes before stopping, open the application on your phone, launch it, set it to 22 degrees and press “start”. While you park, you walk in and the trailer already has those same +22!

Some options appeared in the trailer as experience accumulated - the same one that is “the son of difficult mistakes.” For example, in the Caucasus, in Kabardino-Balkaria, Ruslan almost lost his trailer, and in the most literal sense of the word. I set up a camp, went to the shed to talk with the shepherds, and upon returning in the dark I could not see my “caravan”, hidden in the folds of the terrain. I found it by the sound because I left the generator running. After this, Ruslan decided that the trailer should be autonomous in terms of lighting, and installed a five-pin relay with a switch. If you want, the dimensions light up from the car, if you want, from the trailer battery. The side lights themselves, in the form of LED strips, located along the edges of the trailer, are truly visible from afar.

The last stage of construction was legalization and official registration. It turned out that getting state license plates is quite simple: after all, from the point of view of official bodies, a house on a trailer is just cargo. Naturally, transporting people in it is strictly prohibited.

How much does it cost to build a house

Construction work mobile home not finished yet. So, a flow pipe should appear in the trailer gas water heater and shower. There is already a pan, but the drainage to it has not yet been done. Ruslan also wants to make an L-shaped bench that can be folded back so that it turns out to be something like a desk. You can put a laptop on it and work while sitting right on the unfolded bed. An awning awning will appear above the entrance. Surely Ruslan will have to take a more serious look at the issue of protection from mosquitoes, horseflies and other midges, especially if he goes on a summer route to the eastern regions. Today he only has mosquito nets for windows, which are attached temporarily using double-sided tape and Velcro tape (in common parlance - Velcro). But the doorway has no protection from flying evil spirits...

Well, now the most serious question is about the budget for building such a trailer. The residential module itself is made from available materials will cost about 100,000 rubles, but this is without a chassis. Chassis - another 25,000, windows - 20,000 each, heater 20,000, gas stove - about 5,000, sink - 600 rubles, awning - 45,000, pump - 5,000 rubles, Barrier water filter - 6,000 rubles, solar panels- 15,000 each, controller - 4,000... In total, about 350-400 thousand, provided that everything is done with your own hands.

Expensive? But the pleasure is worth it. Here's some simple arithmetic. Ruslan traveled from November to March... Now let's do the math: 500 rubles per day is the cheapest hostel. For 4 months - 60,000. Eating in a cafe once a day - 1,000 rubles on average. This is another 120,000, and together - 180,000. But for 180,000 you can already build a house on wheels, albeit with a minimum of amenities. And the most important thing is that where you stay - there is a house, but with a hostel - like it or not, you need to pull to the city, and even find it, this hostel. Otherwise, either spend the night in a car or sleep in a tent...

There will be campers - there will be campsites

I couldn’t help but ask Ruslan: why, exactly, is he doing all this: he built one “caravan”, he’s building a second one, he’s planning to build big houses on a semi-trailer for a pickup truck and on a heavy truck chassis, writes a blog, organizes master classes...

According to him, he pursues three main goals with his projects. Firstly, to popularize Russia as a place for holidays and travel. Make a feasible contribution to the development of such a tourism segment as auto tourism. And finally, to the extent possible, popularize “caravanning,” because we have a “loop problem.” We are not developing the infrastructure that supports autotourism, because autotourism itself is not developed, and autotourism is not developing because the infrastructure is not developed. Because, according to Ruslan (and I can only support them), we have practically no campsites.

How so? - you ask. Here in the south you drive, and along the road there are a lot of signs: camping “Uncle Vasya’s”, “Uncle Petya’s”, “Tatyana’s”... But they have nothing in common with campsites. These are just paid parking lots. A real campsite is a cultivated area, divided into blocks, where caravaners, campers, cyclists and tent campers stand separately. Because everyone's leisure culture is different. A camper, as a rule, does not stay in one place for more than a couple of days. Caravaners, on the other hand, more often operate according to the scheme “they arrived, unhooked and hung at one point for a week.” So they need to be separated: it’s not very good when you have a bunch of children, a dog, everyone is running around, playing, and campers are constantly rolling back and forth.

Besides, camping is a service. This includes connection to electricity, Wi-Fi, the ability to drain gray water and refill with clean water. In any case, the campsite should have laundry, showers, and proper toilets. Then there are all sorts of spas, baths, saunas, etc. stationary barbecues and gazebos for relaxation... There should be entertainment, The cultural program… On the campsite there should be an opportunity to hire a guide, rent bicycles... But we don’t have such campsites, except for the campsite in Suzdal. Moscow camping is just a transit point. There are showers there, but it's just a parking lot with a very cramped location, literally side by side. You can’t stretch out the awning, put a sun lounger...

What could be better for those who like to relax in nature - it turns out to be a mobile summer house and save money because... homemade trailer.

The entire design, or rather the concept that I will show today, is based on a conventional single-axle factory trailer.

About making a trailer.

When assembling this particular mobile dacha, an old platform was used. The sides of which became unusable due to rust.

Here is the first piece of advice - do not buy trailers that are not completely galvanized. Let the manufacturer and seller insist that the paint on them is durable and there will be no rust - in our operating conditions, when salt is poured mercilessly on the roads, corrosion will not take long to occur. And the trailer is designed for transporting goods, and the paint quickly becomes damaged even with careful use...

So, as the basis for a homemade summer cottage trailer, we took an old one, all the sides were cut off and one platform was left. It had to be thoroughly cleaned, and paired guides from the corner were welded in the front, back, and also on the sides for attaching the walls. Then everything was repainted.

And don’t look at the smooth contours; the entire design of the homemade trailer is based on the square platform of the factory one. The whole secret of the forms is in large sheets moisture-resistant plywood from which two large walls were cut out, the roof and the bulk of other elements were assembled.

But first a strong welded frame was made with vertical posts and crossbars for the trailer roof. Iron posts run in the area where the hinges of the two side doors are attached. Also, reinforcing elements are located in the walls and end in the area where the rear hinged door is attached. And the strength structure is completed by the elements under the tabletop - sliding fasteners for the large rear door are screwed onto them.

A lightweight sheathing consisting entirely of plywood and wood was mounted on top of the rigid structure. Of course, later everything was sanded, covered with moisture-resistant impregnation, puttied, primed and painted.

The tree was taken specifically to homemade dacha trailer weighed as little as possible. And of course, the relative cheapness and ease of processing of this material was not unimportant in choosing wood for making the body of a homemade trailer.

Naturally, in a number of places subject to particularly heavy loads, aluminum and sometimes steel corners and strips were used to guarantee. But the main connections are made with screws and slats.

That's probably enough about the design. Let's move on to describing the advantages of this caravan trailer.

What's good homemade dacha trailer and this construction:

* Low price- there was no need to build a large mobile dacha, which would probably have cost much more money (take at least chassis). And since a used trailer was already available, the rest of the materials were relatively inexpensive.

* The concept of a small trailer in which everything is included (well, almost everything 😉

- This trailer contains sleeping area, which can easily accommodate two adults. The number of children was not counted, but more will fit.

— There is a kitchen - more precisely, a full-fledged table for cooking, which can easily accommodate a portable gas stove, dishes and cutlery.
— There is a small luggage compartment with drawers for things and products.

“Finally, the homemade trailer even has windows - two in the side doors and one hatch on the roof. (The side windows are plastic, and the top hatch is taken from an old foreign passenger car). Relaxing with them is much more interesting and you can admire nature and the stars.

Now about the operation of a homemade summer cottage trailer.

* Transportation to the vacation spot is of course carried out without people inside. Even at decent speeds, which we managed to develop with the trailer, there were no damages, cracks or flaws in the structure. Wood paneling holds up with dignity.

* At a resting place
The sleeping arrangement is quite convenient if two adults are driving with a trailer. Plus you can take small child who can sleep between you. There won't be room for more people in this trailer.

* There is enough kitchen space and storage space for supplies (if used as intended).

* And an important plus is the storage of the caravan trailer. In size, it does not exceed the dimensions of a regular trailer, so it easily fits into the garage. For the winter, you can even place it vertically, so it takes up even less usable space.

Now about the disadvantages and limitations imposed by the proposed design of a homemade summer cottage trailer (it would be dishonest not to talk about them)

* Most importantly, you always want more storage space for things and recreational items. For example, fishing rods, a barbecue or an additional tent if a larger company is traveling, etc. - they no longer fit into drawers. But here there is a way out: a caravan trailer is usually pulled by an SUV with a large trunk, so, in the end, everything you need is delivered to the place.

* And one more small drawback follows from the advantages of the trailer - sometimes the annoying attention of others gets annoying - everyone wants to see what it is homemade dacha trailer and what they eat it with, but this is only at times when you want privacy 😉

Is it difficult to build a motor home on the basis of a regular car trailer? What materials can this trailer-house-dacha be built from? What are its minimum dimensions? Which interior layout will allow you to use it most effectively inner space? Let's try to find answers to this list of questions.

Goals

Small country house- probably the most widespread hobby in the post-Soviet space over the past half century. The area of cities is growing every year, and areas are naturally moving away from the center settlements. Distances are sometimes measured in tens of kilometers; The most comfortable way to overcome them is to drive your own car.

At the same time, transform small area instead of permanent residence Not all summer residents are ready. The maximum that an average city family can decide to do is spend the night on their property once a week. Build for this overnight stay capital house- a dubious idea; sleeping in a car is very uncomfortable...

For summer residents who have basic skills in working with power tools, homemade summer cottage trailers are often the solution.

We have to study one of these structures, getting acquainted with the materials used and design solutions.

Acknowledgment: The photographs used in this article were kindly posted by one of the regulars of the League of Caravaners forum.
The author's work was reduced only to explaining some technical subtleties.

Selection of materials

In most cases, the base on which a compact trailer-dacha-motorhome is built is a single-axle trailer with maximum load no more than a ton. Taking into account the weight of household items and a couple of people, our choice is a caravan trailer weighing up to 750 kg.

The weight limitation leaves its mark on the choice of material.

  • We will make the frame of the building from pine beams with a cross-section of 50 mm.
  • The walls are made of 10 mm plywood (moisture-resistant or impregnated to reduce the hygroscopicity of the material and prevent it from rotting); the floor is made of 12 mm. It is also used for construction inside.
  • External cladding is galvanized steel. The sheets are hemmed to the frame bar with self-tapping screws; overlaps are additionally sealed silicone sealant. The outer corners are reinforced with aluminum corners - again sealed with silicone.

  • What to choose as insulation laid between the inner and outer layers of plywood - we will leave it to the reader to decide. Here is a comparative thermal conductivity of popular insulation materials:

A caveat: glass wool will inevitably cake over time.
It is better to use rigid insulation.

Dimensions

A reasonable minimum size of trailer required for our purposes is 2300x1600 mm. Such dimensions will allow you to build a fairly comfortable sleeping place for two people inside and leave some space for a table for a washbasin and/or gas stove.

A two-axle trailer-dacha will provide much more comfort; however, the price of such a trailer will be double or triple. Its dimensions (up to 4.5 meters in length) allow you to build a full-fledged toilet room.

A reasonable minimum height of a structure is generally 2 meters. The height can be adjusted depending on the size of the owners: it is clear that a very tall person will not want to constantly cling to the ceiling with the top of their head.

Construction

So let's get started. How to build a cottage from a trailer with your own hands?

Floor, bottom trim

  1. The sides are completely dismantled. All that remains of the trailer is a flat area. If the horizontal base is sufficiently rigid, floor joists and trim can be attached directly to it; It is better to weld a thin flexible sheet with a frame made of corrugated pipe with a cross-section of 50x25 mm.
  2. Then the lower frame made of timber, laid around the perimeter, is bolted to the base; the side bars are connected by lags in increments of 20 cm (for 12 mm plywood).

As an option, the entire structure can be assembled on a stand and only then pulled to the base of the trailer.

  1. The logs are attached to the frame with a galvanized angle; The block must be soaked twice with hot drying oil.

Tip: instead of drying oil heated in a water bath, you can use cold drying oil.
In this case, after applying each layer, the block is heated with a construction hairdryer.

  1. Insulation is laid between the joists; then the floor is covered with plywood, which is attached with self-tapping screws.

Frame

The instructions for assembling the frame are no different from the construction of the lower frame: the block is connected with corners using self-tapping screws. Before or after assembly, the wood is impregnated with drying oil. Do not be afraid that the frame will not be rigid enough: the sheathing will give the structure strength.

Sheathing, insulation

The finished frame begins to be sheathed from the inside. The plywood is attached with self-tapping screws 32 millimeters long in increments of approximately 25 cm. Self-tapping screws are only galvanized: in damp weather, black steel will inevitably decorate the walls with untidy rusty streaks.

Three nuances:

  1. The holes for the screws are pre-drilled and countersunk so that the caps do not catch on clothing. An alternative is to use self-tapping screws with semi-countersunk heads.

  1. Plywood with inside It must be sanded before varnishing and after applying the first layer. Any moisture will increase top layer veneer pile, which will make the surface rough.
The amount of work will be quite large, so it is better to use a grinder - even the simplest, vibrating one. If there is no electricity where you are building, there is always a way out: renting a diesel generator for a summer house costs from 1,000 rubles per day.
  2. The outer side and ends of plywood also need protective impregnation. And in this case the cheapest and practical option- two layers of hot drying oil.
The insulation is fixed in the grooves formed by the frame and the inner lining, after which it is sheathed on the outside with plywood coated on both sides.

The door is assembled similarly to the walls and hung on galvanized hinges; regular constipation is used door lock or a pair of latches - inside and outside.

Final stage - exterior decoration galvanized. It is fixed with self-tapping screws 25 mm long in 10 cm increments along all frame bars; then the corners are closed with a corner. Don't forget about the sealant: it will protect the corners and joints from water leakage.

The photo shows the trim ready for painting.

Window

If you want your tiny home to have skylights, no problem.

  1. The opening is provided at the stage of frame construction. It is surrounded by a bar with a cross-section of the same 50x50 mm.
  2. An alloy corner is used as an external glazing bead, screwed flush with the outer cladding with self-tapping screws. Seat under the corner is pre-coated with sealant.
  3. A piece of plexiglass cut to the size of the opening is placed on the sealant and fixed from the inside with a bead made from the same duralumin corner.

Internal layout

Our choice is a transformable bed-seat and folding table. The transformation mechanism will be made clear by pictures.

Useful little things

  • An alternative to galvanized plywood - external cladding from corrugated sheet. According to a similar scheme, they are often built country houses from block containers.
  • Do-it-yourself repair of a summer house trailer usually comes down to periodic painting of galvanized steel. Old paint removed with washes. In those few cases when the wheels, fenders or suspension of the trailer are damaged, spare parts for the trailer camper are purchased at the nearest auto store.

  • The simplest way to organize ventilation is to provide a pair of closed doors in mosquito net hatches (bottom and top).

Conclusion

Hello, dear friends! Well, who among us doesn’t like to sit by the fire on the river bank on a warm summer evening with a barbecue and cognac? My mouth is already watering) And then how to spend the night in a tent... But humanity is more and more striving for a civilized vacation. Even alone with nature, we no longer part with the benefits of city life. Today we will talk about a motor home. Meet the dacha trailer!

What kind of beast

This is a fully equipped campervan with maximum interior equipment that clings to a car. As a rule, inside it there is a kitchen, a bedroom, a living room, a bathroom, and a shower room. All this can be placed with the help of multifunctional transformable furniture, as well as a competent layout.

On modern market There are not many offers for the sale of trailers. The lion's share is represented by foreign representatives. There are only a few residential trailers produced on the Russian market, but they are not even close in comparison to Western models.

In the West, campers have been made for a long time, hence this experience. Our culture of caravanning is just developing. This is why in Russia you can more often see homemade motorhomes converted from car trailer.

crazy hands

Huge assortment building materials allows any craftsman owner of a car trailer to create his own cottage on wheels. And indeed, there is nothing tricky here, you just need to use your wits.

We will take as a basis an ordinary passenger trailer with a slightly enlarged body. The body size is 240 x 120 cm. To begin with, a frame is made from 50x50 mm timber. Then the frame is sheathed with a galvanized sheet of metal, from which corrugated sheeting is made.

It is advisable to insulate the distance between the joists with at least polystyrene foam, then the inside of the motorhome will remain warm, like in a thermos. Internal lining can be made to your taste: wood, plastic, lining, plywood and other materials.

It would be nice to separate the bedroom from the kitchen. To do this, you need to put a partition in the back of the booth, leaving about 190 cm for the bedroom. It all depends on the height of the vacationer. In the sleeping area, the entire area will be occupied by a mattress. On the partition above the position of the legs you can hang convenient storage lockers and even hang a TV, since we're talking about civilization)))

On the kitchen side you can place a small built-in refrigerator, a gas stove and a small sink with a washstand. And also hang food boxes above them. The space under the tabletop can be used to store a gas cylinder, water

Yes, I almost forgot about doors and windows. There are also options here and they are also from human life. Sometimes they are made like plastic ones at home, but only small. There is an option to find windows from a company that specializes in overhead garage doors. Have you seen such windows as portholes? And you can insert roller shutters or shutters into doorways. You can also order them from window makers.

You can place a roof rack on the roof, which can also be multifunctional. You can transport various loads on it, put an aerodynamic autobox on it, bike racks with bicycles, or whatever. You can also attach a device to it and use it as a canopy from the sun and rain.

And if you also attach some kind of awning to this canopy and secure it with a peg into the ground, you will get an additional wall. And if you make three of them, you get an additional room.

In general, here who has enough imagination and possibilities. But the idea is clear, I hope. The advantages of such campers are that there is no need for additional categories; we base them on the basis of a regular passenger trailer with a total weight of up to 750 kg; they are relatively inexpensive. Look at photos of examples of such motorhomes.
