DIY garage made from scrap materials. How to make homemade machines and devices for your home workshop. Do-it-yourself garden furniture, successful homemade products: photos and drawings

The garage takes up a lot of space in the life of the stronger half of humanity, even if the family does not have a car. In addition to being used as a space for storing and servicing the car, the garage has enough wide range functions, despite its rather limited area.

How can you arrange a garage?

First, let's look at several options for ergonomic use and design of the interior space of the garage:

  • In its internal configuration, in 99% of cases, a garage box has rectangular shape. Accordingly, the distance from the car to the side walls is not very large and is not comfortable for carrying out any work. The most common arrangement option is to move the work area (workbench, shelving or cabinets with tools and spare parts) to the rear of the garage, to the wall opposite the gate. This area may even have enough space to install any necessary equipment other than a workbench.
  • If in the garage big size If there is an additional room (utility room, electrical room), then on the surface of its door you can organize tool storage using a hanging sheet or put holders in the form of loops on it different sizes made of plastic and ordinary ropes.

  • The simplest option: if you cannot install a shelving in the garage, you can place a metal grill at some distance from the wall. You can hang almost any objects, clothes and the like on it. You don't even have to install shelves.
  • Another way out is to attach hooks to any surface. There simply can’t be enough of them in the garage. You can make them yourself, or you can buy them at the supermarket. Significant savings in free space are guaranteed.

Little tricks for the garage

So, the garage has been purchased. On initial stage arrangement we will talk about buying pieces of furniture, most likely. Finding something that suits the owner and at the same time takes up a minimum of space is not so easy. The way out of this situation is to make the necessary pieces of furniture with your own hands.

Table with folding top– ideal for a small garage. Such a stand does not take up much space, but can be a table with a very decent usable area. In its manufacture, the materials from which the old cabinet was made are often used.

Materials:

  • furniture hinges;
  • wood fasteners;
  • accessories;
  • wooden blocks;
  • anchor.

First, markings are made using a building or household level.

Next steps:

  • the block is drilled through and attached to the wall with anchors;
  • holes are marked and drilled in the future plane of the table and the area where the corners are attached;

  • the block and the tabletop are connected by hinges;
  • the table in the folded position is held by a standard latch, lock or hook, which is fixed to the wall;
  • The table supports are simply leaned against the wall next to the table.

How to make a stand for a drill?

Making a mini-drilling machine with your own hands does not require high qualifications, but it greatly expands the scope of application of an ordinary electric drill. In addition, the machine will be much cheaper than a purchased one, and components can be borrowed from previously used devices.

Making a wooden stand will take very little time and will not require any special materials or tools:

  • wooden blocks or boards no thinner than 20 mm;
  • furniture guides;

  • metal rod with thread for caliper;
  • fasteners for wooden parts (screws, glue);
  • emery.

Tools:

  • hacksaw;
  • vice;
  • Screwdriver Set;
  • electric drill.

The dimensions of the mini-machine are chosen in accordance with the size of the workspace in the garage.

Making a stand from metal requires a little more time and materials, so it is necessary to cover it in a little more detail.

The proposed metal stand is more versatile than one made of wood and includes:

  • supporting frame;
  • guide posts of the drill, to which it is attached and moved vertically;
  • vertical tool feed handle;
  • additional components for ease of use.

How to make an overpass for car repairs?

It's no secret that a car needs regular maintenance and minor repairs, like any technically complex mechanism. For ease of access to components and assemblies located on the bottom of the car, a hand-made lightweight overpass is often used, which will significantly save money spent on service station technicians.

Overpasses come in full and small sizes. Strictly speaking, overpasses function in the same way as inspection pits.

The need to build such useful invention most often dictated by the high boundary of the aquifer in the place where the garage is built, which makes the arrangement of an inspection pit impossible.

It is quite possible to install the overpass yourself. For this case, you need drawings, an action plan and taking into account the dimensions of the car:

  • the total length of the overpass is usually taken from the calculation - length of the car + 1 m;
  • ladder width – more than 40 cm;
  • height of supports – 70-80 cm.

The ladders are made from a corner, the cabinets are welded from a corner with a shelf width of 50 mm. The surface of the ladder is made of corrugated steel with a cross-section of more than 14 mm.

How to assemble a compressor for a garage?

When servicing a car, and for other work in the home and garage, there is often a need for an air compressor. It will help with painting, inflating tires, blowing off dust, and in many other cases.

You can assemble the simplest compressor for painting a car yourself from an old car camera.

Here is a description of the necessary materials and tools to bring this idea to life:

  • the camera itself will serve as the receiver;
  • supercharger - a pump, preferably with a pressure gauge;
  • tire repair kit;
  • awl.

Procedure:

  • check the chamber for damage with the pump and repair it if found;
  • make a hole in the receiver to release a stream of compressed air;
  • glue in the additional fitting and connect it to the spray gun;
  • Unscrew the nipple in it to give air free passage;

  • leave the “original” chamber nipple - it will be used as a valve, holding excess pressure;
  • by testing, determine the required air pressure of the receiver, spraying paint and ensuring that it lies evenly;
  • The main rule is that there should be nothing foreign in the chamber: moisture, particles of dirt and dust.

If you have a minimum number of assembly skills, more than complex structures, we can suggest trying to assemble a compressor of greater complexity and versatility, which can be used to measure the number of atmospheres in car tires, paint, blow and blow off dust.

The method is inexpensive, even if you don’t have a lot of scrap materials in the garage.

Installation is carried out from:

  • old refrigeration unit;
  • air receiver with a volume of up to 10 l;
  • pressure gauge for the air receiver;
  • air pressure regulator;

  • high pressure hose (20 bar);
  • the most inexpensive filter-regulator;
  • several clamps;
  • adapters.

The compressor does not take up much space, so it can be installed in a niche on the wall or on a home-made wall shelf, wherever the need dictates.

This type of compressor receiver has three outputs:

  • the top one supplies compressed air;
  • the middle one is used by the pressure gauge in the receiver;
  • condensate and oil are drained through the bottom.

Operating principle: the compressor sucks in air through the lower part, where the filter regulator and switch switch are installed. The regulator pressure limits range from two to eight atmospheres.

To ensure against troubles, you can install a relief valve for safety.

How to make a crane-lift?

No one will deny that periodically any car needs to be serviced, and from time to time repaired. Serious repairs are not a cheap pleasure, so many car owners undertake to do it in the garage or at the dacha with their own hands. For example, when repairing an engine, significant physical effort will be required when removing it and installing it in place after repair.

A crane with a winch can be of great help in such operations. It can be equipped in the garage either by purchasing it in a supermarket or with your own hands, according to a simple diagram.

Most practical way placement of such a crane beam - above the front of the car parked in the garage. If the boom extension is 1 meter, then the working area will be around 5 m².

The base in the considered option will be sheet steel 400x400x25 mm. A rod with a diameter of 80 mm is welded into it, attached to the ceiling with M16 bolts.

It is necessary to ensure compliance with horizontal levels, since often gender is either ceiling garages may have a slope in one direction or another.

The boom is made of a meter strut, 50x50 angles and a glass with two pressed bronze bearing bushings. The entire structure is secured with a cotter shaped nut M42x2.

Pit and cellar

Usable space is not limited to the garage box itself: you rarely see a garage without a cellar, where racks for pickles and marinades, and departments for fruits and vegetables collected on the native “six hundred square meters” are so excellently located.

The situation is as follows: a garage has been built/bought/rented, the car requires repairs or simply maintenance, and there is no inspection hole in the garage. There is a way out - build it with your own hands.

In general, the inspection pit should be of such a size that the owner can sit and work in it comfortably.

To do this, measure the dimensions of the hole:

  • length pits are selected in accordance with the length of the car base + 1 meter;
  • width determined by measuring the distance between the front wheels minus 20 cm to ensure that the car does not fall through when entering;
  • depth selected according to the height of the car owner + 20 cm.

Life hack: you need to add 30 cm to all the obtained dimensions. This is done for the intended installation of hydro- and thermal insulation.

Let's take a step-by-step look at the construction process itself:

  • The dimensions of the pit are marked.

Lifehack. If you already have a floor screed, you will have to organize the work order as follows: apply markings and then cut through them with a grinder or some other tool.

  • We keep the floor parallel with the help of a level and carefully compact it. Usually the first layer on the floor of the pit is a cushion of crushed stone, then in order: 5 cm of sand, 30 cm of clay, reinforced mesh, which is filled with concrete in a layer of 7 cm. Then it is necessarily poured with bitumen-based mastic, roofing material is laid on top, then the seams are coated and a layer of foam plastic is laid and the next layer of concrete is 15 cm.

  • The walls of the pit are coated with clay, polyethylene is laid, and roofing felt is placed on it and all joints, as on the floor, are coated with mastic.

  • Creating formwork is the most labor-intensive operation: it is made up of plywood sheets or boards, leaving a gap of 7 cm from the wall.

  • The wall is reinforced and filled with concrete.

Life hack: the height is filled at a speed of 20 cm per day, not faster.

  • Niches can be made in the walls; ceramic tiles must be used as cladding.

When arranging a cellar in a garage, the most reliable solution is to use a caisson. If you are wondering what a caisson is, it is best to turn to several life hacks that will explain its purpose.

Simply put, a caisson is a can. An ordinary large waterproof canister, tank or anything that resembles them. It is used as a basement impermeable to soil moisture.

It consists of:

  • over-caisson structure (this is the entrance to the cellar hatch);
  • a cylindrical chamber with dimensions of 2 m in height and 1 m in diameter, this is the best option in terms of the proportion “volume/materials consumed”;
  • The caisson is additionally waterproofed from moisture with various bitumen mastics, an asphalt layer or various solutions, again based on bitumen.

Let's look at a few useful tips and recommendations on this matter:

  • The walls of the caisson must withstand significant external pressure; you should not skimp on their thickness.
  • Welds must be welded twice, and the use of anti-corrosion agents is highly recommended.

  • When using a caisson, it is necessary to install a reliable ventilation system.
  • The list of basic storage units is almost the same: canned food and pickles, other homemade supplies rolled into jars and other containers, unprocessed vegetables and fruits. Therefore, it is necessary to take into account their storage conditions.

  • Ventilation required special attention: the option of natural ventilation is not always suitable due to the lack of the possibility of its artificial regulation. Better fit forced ventilation.
  • If there is no caisson, for waterproofing, a so-called sand cushion 25-30 cm thick is laid on the floor, covered with roofing felt or other material on top, and the seams are glued with bitumen or mastic.

  • Raw vegetables are stored on the floor in boxes. Carrots and beets are additionally sprinkled with sand.
  • Wood shelving tends to become covered in fungus over time. To avoid this, they are coated with protective mixtures.

  • Steel racks do not have this drawback, but they tend to corrode, so they are treated with water-repellent materials.
  • Plastic shelving is resistant to moisture and corrosion, but is quite fragile and cannot bear a large weight load.

  • The depth of the cellar is directly proportional to the depth of the aquifer in this particular area, unless a caisson is used.
  • When using a caisson, measures must be taken to prevent it from being squeezed out to the surface by groundwater.
  • The cellar floor should be located at least 1 meter from the upper boundary of the aquifer.

How to make a workbench?

Who has ever seen a garage that doesn’t have a workbench with a vice attached to it? Or a garage without shelves, mezzanines, or wall cabinets? Without a stand for checking or maintaining the car?

By looking at the interior of the garage, you can immediately tell who its owner is and how functional this or that option for using the internal space is, how much it optimizes it for operation.

A large and convenient workbench in the garage is his undeniable advantage. If you organize boxes for tools and parts in it, it will turn into a universal place of work. Typically, such a workbench is made across the entire width of the garage with drawers of various sizes.

To install it with dimensions 660x100x60 cm you need:

  • saw;
  • plywood of various thicknesses;
  • polyurethane;
  • paints;
  • sander;
  • fastener

Operating procedure:

  • for a workbench measuring 660x100x60 cm, you will need to cut 4 sheets 20 mm thick;
  • for the working surface it is better to use sanded plywood;

  • boxes are made from strips 0.6x4.8 m, 13 mm thick;
  • sections of the rack are assembled from 20 fragments measuring 61x61 cm;

  • every vertical row boxes are calculated as follows: 3 small and 1 deep;
  • the depth of the guide grooves is 1.27 cm;

  • additionally cut a 254 mm groove at the bottom of the cabinet and three grooves 127 mm apart and 146 mm from the top of the cabinet;
  • the required structural rigidity is created by strengthening back wall strips of plywood;

  • we assemble all the structures for five boxes and fasten them together, then fix them to the wall with fastening screws so that there is free place for oversized items;
  • assemble boxes from 13 mm thick plywood;

  • handles are cut out in the front wall of the drawer or purchased ready-made and fixed with self-tapping screws;
  • the dimensions of the lower drawers are 120x25x5 cm and 60x25x5 cm;

  • a 60x120 cm frame is attached to the working surface of the workbench;
  • finishing the workbench involves sanding and painting in several layers.
  • Finishing with varnish is allowed.

How to make shelving?

Rack is one of the most common rational decisions organizing free space when placing things in a limited volume of a house or garage. The surfaces of the box walls invite you to lean a rack against them or strengthen a dozen or two shelves and put a wide variety of items on them: from fishing equipment and clothes to outboard motor and a spare engine cylinder block.

A garage rack can be purchased at retail chains - this is an option that requires almost no energy consumption. Installation/disassembly of such structures is elementary and does not require highly qualified assembler.

Perfect for all categories of garage owners, but quite expensive and will require a certain investment of capital.

You can try to make a rack yourself from scrap or purchased materials: from scraps of pipes, profiles or corners, from pieces of plywood, chipboard, plastic.

Instead of drawers, it is quite possible to use the usual plastic canisters. The canister is positioned horizontally, and using the handle that is in front, it is pulled out and returned to its place.

The only thing that should not be forgotten is that it is prohibited to use canisters and other containers containing chemically aggressive, radioactive or flammable substances that can be harmful to health. The best option is a drinking water canister.

To make a rack from aluminum or other metal yourself, you need to carry out preparations, take dimensions, calculate the load and select the material for the product. You should also take into account what communications are located in the place where the rack is planned to be installed.

  • First, determine the external dimensions of the product.
  • Then calculate the number of shelves and their height. It makes sense to make them of unequal heights, since the sizes of storage items vary.

  • It is irrational to make sections that are too wide - the load-carrying capacity of the shelves will sharply decrease and the possibility of collapse will increase.
  • The drawing should begin with a sketch of the rack, its schematic representation with preliminary dimensions, giving a general idea of what should turn out in the end.

  • The next step will be cutting the vertical parts.
  • All parts are cut to the same length from a solid profile or angle. Compose them from individual parts Not recommended.

  • Sometimes metal or metal-plastic pipes are used as risers.
  • The material for the shelves is chosen taking into account its strength. For example, shelves made of chipboard and fiberboard will not support significant weight due to their relative fragility.

  • Design shelves no wider than 60 cm.
  • The presence of a edging (side) on the shelf will serve in two directions at once - it will create an additional stiffening rib and prevent small parts from falling.

  • First, install the vertical posts. The method of fastening (to the floor, ceiling, walls) should be considered at the stage of drawing up the drawing.
  • When installing, be sure to use a level to avoid distortions.
  • The shelves are secured using corners.

Let's look at some useful life hacks:

  • Sometimes, to save space, shelves are attached directly to the ceiling without using vertical supports on the floor. Hanging shelves can free up space in the lower tier of a garage box, but they cannot have a special load capacity. You can stack oversized but lightweight long slats on them, plastic corners, cardboard pipes, etc. They can also be made mesh - then you can additionally hang something from them with hooks.
  • Another popular way to use a wall is to arrange a metal or plastic panel with fastenings (hooks, brackets, etc.), this will greatly save free space.
  • To create a small gap between the wall and the panel, it is recommended to use wine corks sawn in half.

Hanging structures

The problem of storing small parts, screws, washers, bolts and other fasteners in the garage is quite acute. On the one hand, they should always be at hand, on the other hand, they are quite easy to lose or drop on the floor. There are several options for solving the problem. Here is one of the interesting, simple and inexpensive options - just ingenuity and a new look at using ordinary things.

First you need to decide on the required number of cells of the required size.

To work you will need:

  • 4 metal slats, each 2.2 m long;
  • electric drill;
  • fastener

In our case (see photo) there are 24 identical cells in a row. There are four rows in total, the size of each cell is 14x10x7.5 cm. metal rail(in our case, its length is 2 m) along the entire length of the row, you need to drill holes for fastening to the wall with a drill. Saving is not recommended, since the rail will hold cells filled with metal parts. Next, the slats are attached to the wall. We attach the cells to the slats. Ready!

Original options

We have to do a lot of things in the garage with our own hands, because among all the variety of goods that are offered to us modern industry, there is not always something that fully satisfies the demand of a picky and skilled owner.

In this case, we are talking not only about furniture (cabinets, racks, shelves, tables, workbenches), but also about all kinds of homemade devices that make life so much easier when a sudden need arises to perform a non-standard operation.

The garage performs a wide variety of functions: from a storage room and a workshop to a repair box and a resting place. In any case, there are a lot original ideas, embodied in useful, necessary and functional devices and homemade products for the garage, which are quite accessible for making from improvised means with your own hands.

  • To protect against drafts, it is often recommended to lay a kind of felt “sausage” under the garage door. It is very helpful when working inside the garage during the winter season.
  • A spare set of tires is stored hanging or on its side. If there are no disks, tires are stored vertically with the obligatory change of their position once a month.

  • To place them in a standing position, it is recommended to design a storage location on the wall with your own hands. In fact, it is a wall-mounted triangular frame into which tires are inserted in a standing position. The farther the frame is installed from heating devices, the better the tires will be preserved.
  • It’s good if there are used tires in the garage that have not yet been scrapped. If you put a piece of plywood or chipboard on top of such a tire and decorate it with decor, it will turn into such an elegant thing as a designer stool.

  • If you lack driving experience, you can mount a used tire on the wall opposite the gate as a bump stop. This craft will significantly reduce the risk of scratching the bumper when parking the car.
  • From old tire It turns out to be a homemade little thing for storing small items. Attaching the tire to the wall is quite simple, and this option will look impressive. For gardeners, the shelf can easily turn into a flower bed if the tire is placed outside the garage.

  • Storing various wrenches (socket wrenches, combination wrenches, adjustable wrenches) on hooks is beneficial and preferable from several points of view. Several keys on one hook, they are clearly visible, take up little space, and are all accessible at once.
  • It is very convenient to store rags using a wall holder, which uses ordinary clothespins. The rags will always be at hand, no need to waste time looking for them.

  • To make notes “for memory”, you need a board and chalk. But this is completely optional: cover a cabinet door, part of a gate, some kind of shield, or just a free, flat section of the wall with graphite paint and make a schedule of tasks on it, leave notes or write down the dimensions of the future shelving.
  • Using a grinder, you can turn an old 200-liter barrel into a wonderful chair if you cover it with foam rubber or rubber. The same thing can become the basis of a table for something needed.

  • Boxes with various things on the garage floor will become much more mobile if you attach wheels from old office chairs to them.
  • If, in addition to the hooks, you attach a figuratively cut strip with holes and staples to the wall above the workbench, it will be very helpful for storing and using pencils, drills, spools of thread or twine.

  • The same applies to various types loops and straps attached to the garage wall.
  • If to the bottom surface wall cabinet attach lids; they are very convenient for screwing on jars in which various small items are stored.
  • Another possibility of using them: through the hole in the lid is pulled electrical cable, and a socket with a lamp is placed in the jar - the lampshade is ready!

Garage doors are a very significant and important part of the garage. They carry a fairly significant load, serve as the main obstacle to burglars, and require thermal insulation. To all of the above, we can add that the gate should be as convenient to use as possible for the garage owner.

The version of the gate equipped with extension springs or torsion springs is not yet very popular in Russia compared to the “classic” version, but they also deserve attention precisely because of their ease of use.

Tension springs are usually used with gates smaller than 8 m². They do not require a large lintel height due to the use of extension springs installed on the sides. They are easier to install, and their price is lower than gates that use torsion springs. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to install a built-in wicket gate in such gates.

Torsion springs are used when installing gates larger than 8 m². 3 types of installation are allowed: standard, low, high. A big plus when using gates of this type is the protection against falling of the door leaf when the springs fail and low-noise operation, just like the version with a built-in wicket door.

A garage is a second home for car enthusiasts. This building serves not only to shelter the car in bad weather, but also as a place to store all kinds of tools; it is often a “mini-workshop” for the owner, where almost any repair can be done. Each owner arranges his garage to suit himself. Some people do not take the equipment of the premises very seriously, and it begins to cause more problems than benefits. But still, most car enthusiasts try to adhere to certain requirements that are important to fulfill for more convenient maintenance of their car. So, arranging a garage with your own hands requires meeting certain requirements.

Primary requirements

Arranging a space for a garage means that it will be warm and dry enough.

Your car should not freeze even in very very coldy. If possible, you can provide a system for quickly warming up the garage.

It is very important to reliably protect the premises from unauthorized entry. When setting up your garage, remember that access to tools or equipment that will be located in the garage should be as convenient and simple as possible. Therefore, it is better to think in advance about the location of storage areas.

In general, these are only the very minimum requirements that it is advisable to take into account for your own comfort. You can also, if you wish, supplement and equip your garage with additional means for repairing and servicing your car. A workbench with tools and an inspection pit can be an excellent addition to the equipment of the room.

How to install racks and shelves

For the most comfortable arrangement of a garage, quite a lot of space is required, and this is often a problem. Storing work tools and equipment also takes quite a bit large space. Therefore, when arranging your garage yourself, try to accommodate as much space as possible for shelves or cabinets, but so that they do not interfere with free movement around the room. Shelves can be hung anywhere where you won’t catch or hit them, above tables, windows, shelving, and so on.

The distance to the car when hanging shelves on each side should be at least 1 meter.

Quite often it is convenient to equip the wall that is furthest from the gate for a variety of shelves and equipment. This is where the main working tools, compressor, workbench, etc. are located. Everything is at hand and does not interfere with moving around the room.

Plenty of shelving in the garage is a big plus, but it's also worth considering a small closet to hang work clothes and put away some rags.

How to properly arrange a viewing hole

The question of the presence or absence of an inspection hole is quite individual. First, you need to decide how high the need for arranging such a pit is. There is no point in equipping it if you often use the overpass on the street.

If you decide that you need such a pit, then you must take into account that the walls and bottom must be concrete. The edges of the pit must be reinforced with iron corners. It is also worth considering what and how you will cover the inspection hole when not in use.

A drainage hole is needed in the corner of the pit; all the water that accidentally falls down will be collected in it. The hole must be made of such a size that it is convenient to scoop out the accumulated water. To avoid accidentally stepping into a hole while repairing a car, it must be covered with a grill.

In the pit you can place small equipment that may be useful for repairs; you can prudently make niches in the walls so that it is convenient to put the tools you are using. Also take care of lighting the inspection hole, install a lamp or arrange a place for a portable lamp.

Necessary equipment

For routine wheel changes or disc replacement, carrying out the most ordinary work Under the hood of the car, a standard set of tools and a jack are enough. But to perform more complex work, special equipment is needed.

Crafting table

To make a workbench, it is best to use wood and metal. It is best to cover the working area with a piece of metal, protecting the wood from rapid wear. It is better to make a workbench in two or three levels in order to arrange as many necessary things as possible.

For normal repairs For the body, you will only need a welding machine with either tungsten electrodes that are in a protective gas environment, or a carbon dioxide machine that welds metal with wire.

Such a device is used to purify the air from vapors, drops of oil, water and other small particles that may be present in it. This is very convenient device, used when painting cars, and promotes uniform distribution of paint over the metal.

Washing

Certainly, we're talking about not about professional washing. And just about one that everyone can equip in their garage. To do this, you will simply need to connect a hose or pipe to supply water to the garage and drain it into the sewer. However, remember that electrical wiring and lighting will need more careful protection.

High-quality ventilation and lighting

It is very important to create high-quality ventilation in the garage; it will not only rid the room of unpleasant and harmful odors, but also protect it from the formation of dampness and excessive dust.

Ventilation holes are usually made on both sides of the gate at a low height and covered with grilles. The same holes are made on the opposite wall, but already under the ceiling.

Of course, the best lighting is natural, so if possible, you should consider having a window. If this is not possible, then make several lighting zones: above the work area, general and portable, which can be used to illuminate the most necessary things.

You can see an example of the interior arrangement of a garage below:

Also, to equip your garage, you will need to buy metal cabinets for tools, shelving, workbenches and other garage equipment that will fit into the interior of the garage.

A garage is more than just a place to park a car. It is also a workshop, a place of relaxation, and a club of interests. Therefore, the arrangement of the garage should be convenient and thoughtful. You need to place a lot of things in a small area, and they should be convenient to use. Homemade products for the garage will help with this. What people don’t do with their own hands. From a simple shelf to a complex device. You can make all this yourself. But you need to know how. Several ideas for modernizing a garage and a plan for their implementation are in the article.

Homemade garage: ideas for arrangement

Setting up a garage is a long process. You won’t be able to do everything right away. You have to constantly modernize, change, and create something new. In this case, they mainly use homemade products for the garage. It requires less money and it’s also a pleasure to make things out of garbage the right thing-it costs a lot.

Tire and wheel storage

Every car owner is faced with the problem of storing out-of-season “shoes” for the car. Where to put the tires is a sore point. In general, the way tires are stored depends on whether they are mounted on rims or not.

So tires with rims can be hung or stored lying down - in the form of a stack, stacking them one on top of the other. To hang tires, you can use luggage straps, chains, or a metal cable with a diameter of 4 mm or more in a polyethylene sheath. Fasten the belts to the ceiling, wall, or beam located above.

Another available method is to drive pins or hooks with a small bending radius into the wall. The distance between the hooks is slightly larger than the diameter of the tires. The length of the pins should be such that they do not protrude beyond the tire. You can fill them almost to the ceiling so that the wheels fit.

Tires without rims can only be stored standing up. Special shelves are made for them. They are usually welded from profiled pipes. 20*20 mm, maximum 30*30 mm. You can also use a corner. Round pipe It’s inconvenient to cook, but cross members can be made from it - the tires fit and hold up better in this case.

The width of the shelf is 4 times the width of the tire, plus a margin of 10-15 cm for some freedom. The height of the rear wall is slightly higher than the outer diameter of the wheel. The design is simple = from the side it resembles a right triangle. Having it, welding such a shelf will not be difficult.

A shelf for storing tires is an excellent homemade product for the garage. This is a factory option with a completely inhumane price tag. But you can borrow an idea - the crossbars can be rearranged depending on the size of the tires... you never know. A shelf for tires in the garage with limited space. No tires - you can fold the shelf

Such shelves are usually hung on the wall. But the place must be chosen so that light does not fall on the rubber - this will deteriorate it. Not the most complicated DIY projects for the garage, but very useful.

Probably the most a large number of DIY projects for the garage are related to the equipment of the workplace and tool storage systems. Moreover, this is not the only way to solve this problem. First of all, you need to decide where it will be located workplace. There are three options:

  • The entire width of the far wall. If the garage is of sufficient length and it is possible to “steal” about 1.5 meters. The advantage is that everything is located compactly, at hand, and does not interfere with walking along the car. The disadvantage of this solution is that you have to carry tools far away if work is carried out outdoors.

    Tabletop and many drawers. The main thing is to remember where everything is

  • Along one of the long walls. This arrangement is chosen if the garage is wide but not long enough. It makes sense to place the table and workbench to the left of the entrance - on the driver’s side. But this is not critical. The disadvantage of this arrangement of the workplace in the garage is that you have to move with some caution, but it is more convenient to bring/take out tools outside.

    The main thing is to place the tools correctly

  • Occupying one of the corners. This is an intermediate option. Moreover, one of the sides can be made longer, the other shorter.

    Placing a desktop in the corner of the garage and placing a sofa next to it is not a solution to the problem. Occupying two adjacent sides is a great idea.

A table or workbench for a garage is made of boards and covered with plywood. Inexpensive, quite reliable. If you have a welding machine and verification skills, you can weld a frame from a corner or profiled pipe. Again, it is better to sheathe it with moisture-resistant plywood. The result is a smooth, abrasion-resistant surface. You can, of course, use it, but the laminating layer is quickly damaged.

To prevent the space from wandering around, you can install shelves or make drawers under the countertop. Boxes are more convenient, but making them is still a hassle. It is quite possible to make shelves and put boxes made of plywood on them. Plastic boxes and baskets are also suitable. But the walls must be thick.

By the way, there is a useful idea - to make a rack for storing tools from used canisters. Find ones that have the handle on top. Then everything is simple - one of the sides is cut out and in the future this canister is used as a box.

It is not necessary to make a whole rack - it’s still difficult to remember where and what is located. But you can use the same principle to make drawers for shelves. By the way, you can stick inscriptions or pictures on the ends (with pictures, identification is faster). Such homemade projects for the garage bring satisfaction - create useful thing out of the trash - a pleasant feeling.

Tool storage

The most difficult task— organize tool storage in the garage. We need to make sure that everything is in order, but at the same time, is at hand and in sight. Moreover, closed boxes are suitable only for very organized people who always put the taken item back in its place. Otherwise, you will constantly rummage through drawers, forgetting where everything is. There are several ideas for convenient storage small items and tools. These are very simple DIY projects for the garage.

An ordinary metal mesh will help to quickly solve the problem. A reinforcing mesh made of 2 mm wire, a 10 cm cage, is suitable. Attach it to the wall, bite off some rods, bend them, make hooks, crossbars, etc. out of them. You can buy special hooks that are attached to the mesh (available in stores that sell commercial equipment); ordinary double-sided hooks, which you can buy or make from wire, are also suitable.

A grid on the wall is a way to quickly organize tool storage

It is convenient to store screwdrivers on a special shelf. Take a board or plywood, 10-15 mm thick. The board must be sanded well so that there are no splinters. Then drill holes of different diameters in one or two rows in the plane. If the board is wide enough, you can make larger holes for chisels or even hammer handles. Clean all the chips again. Now we need to come up with a wall mount. You can use a regular bracket. Screwdrivers, chisels, and other similar materials are inserted into the holes. Convenient, fast, everything is in sight.

There is also useful homemade products for the garage, which allow you to organize storage hand tools. Pliers, pliers, wire cutters, etc. placing it conveniently is problematic. Can be hung on a net. It’s convenient to remove, but not to hang. But there is a simple solution - attach a narrow board and put the tool on it. To make it sit comfortably, grind down the board on one side. When cut, it should look like an isosceles triangle.

Another simple idea for storing cordless tools, chargers and spare batteries for them. Make a shelf as in the photo above. In the lower part, cuts of different formats are made, and the upper parts are used as regular shelves. The idea is that everything is in one place, quickly taken out/installed in place. These garage DIY projects will make your workspace comfortable. It will be easy to maintain order.

Homemade carriers for the garage

Even with very good lighting in the garage itself or on the street during the day, visibility under the bottom of the car is very low. To illuminate the front of the work, portable lamps are used. These are the simplest DIY projects for the garage. With them you can begin the epic of arranging and equipping your garage space.

In the very simple version This is a socket attached to a wire and can have a small shield with a hook attached to it. This is such a simple thing. The light bulbs used are ordinary ones - incandescent or economy ones with a standard socket. Everything is not bad, except that these light bulbs break very often, you need to figure out how to hang them so that they shine in a specific place. In general, the design needs improvement. There are several modification options.

Unbreakable lamp socket

This lampshade is from plastic bottle perfectly protects the fragile bulb of an energy-saving lamp. Can also be used LED lamp, but incandescent will not work - it heats up too much. The design is simple - a cord with a plug and a cartridge at the end.

The main task is to find a plastic vessel with walls made of translucent milky plastic of medium thickness. Transparent will not work - it will not scatter light, too thin walls will not save the lamp from impacts. After you have found a suitable vessel, some small change remains:

Everything is simple, but such a lamp allows you to brightly illuminate exactly the desired area, the rest of the space is filled with even light that does not hurt the eyes.

Carrying LED Recessed Light

The simplest and most common homemade products for the garage are portable lamps. Without them, it is inconvenient to work not only in, but even just on a workbench. Need a flat built-in LED lamp, which can be switched on at 220 V. These models are called “tablets” because of their shape. You also need a cord with a plug and a piece of plastic window sill to install the lamp. The window sill piece should be larger in size than the lamp. You choose the specific sizes yourself. The next steps are:

That's it, the homemade carrier is ready. This option is for floor installation. The movable leg allows you to change the angle of inclination. To make it turn over less, you can attach a couple of weights inside the body (in its lower part).

Attach the carrying cord to the ceiling

Convenience comes from little things, and very simple homemade products for the garage help with this. For example, you can remove the cable from a portable lamp that always gets tangled under your feet. Carrying is usually done with a cheap cable. It is not the most flexible, does not fold well, and its coils on the floor get under your feet. In general, it is inconvenient to use. You can protect yourself and carry it by hanging the cable from the ceiling. The solution is simple but very effective.

You can make this “suspension” to the ceiling for carrying with your own hands in an hour

  • Two anchors with a ring at the end.
  • Cable tie.
  • Clamp clamp.
  • Metal cable. The length depends on the size of the garage - it needs to be from one wall to the other.
  • Steel/plastic rings or steel wire and a piece of pipe to make these rings.
  • Carrying with a long cable - its length is approximately double the length of the garage.

The cable is stretched along the long side of the garage. It’s more convenient - not far from the “working” wall, where the workbench or other equipment is located. A little work:

Well, that's all. You can use it. With such a device, the carrier can be carried to any end of the garage without the cable getting tangled or caught. Convenient, takes little time.

DIY garage compressor

A compressor is needed in any garage. And, by the way, this is not the most difficult homemade product for the garage. A low-power compressor for the garage for inflating tires and other small jobs can be made with your own hands from auxiliary materials. For example, from a compressor from a refrigerator. For this you will need:

  • refrigerator compressor;
  • a sealed cylinder with thick walls (you can use a fire extinguisher flask or a small gas cylinder);
  • safety valve 8 atm;
  • pressure gauge;
  • fitting;
  • oxygen hoses with couplings (select the length based on the size of your spare parts);
  • base for the compressor - a thick board or piece of plywood will do.

In order not to pump any nasty stuff into the tires, it is advisable to also install a filter to separate oils, dust and other contaminants. The diagram of a homemade compressor is shown in the photo.

The compressor must have a starting device. We plug it into the network, see which tube the air is sucked into, and mark it. You can put a car filter on it - clean air will be pumped in.

We assemble an oil separator receiver from a cylinder and a safety valve. To do this, we cut two fittings into the cylinder - for air inlet and outlet. We place a safety valve on the inlet hole and connect the compressor outlet to it using an oxygen hose.

We install another automobile oil filter at the outlet of the oil separator receiver to completely remove the oil. We connect the filter to the pressure gauge, and from it comes a hose, which is connected to the tire through the appropriate adapter.

Assembly is complete. But in order to carry this device comfortably, everything needs to be secured in some way. You can weld the frame to size, attach wheels and a handle for easy transportation. One of the compressor options for inflating wheels is described in the video. There is no receiver, but its functions are performed by an oil filter. You can do it this way, but with a receiver the design is more reliable.

Since the compressor in the refrigerator is low-power, it may take a long time to inflate the tires. You can make it more powerful by installing two compressors that will start simultaneously. Accordingly, the pressure will build up twice as fast. But such an installation requires a more robust security group. Such homemade products require a little more equipment, since the circuit is still more complicated.

A garage is not only a place for a car, but also a source of invaluable additional space, which can be used truly rationally if you design useful devices with your own hands.

DIY garage accessories

Since the garage, by its intended purpose, is a home for cars, you should be careful to ensure that the space for tools is well organized. Also in the room there will probably be several square meters in order to remove some of the items from the apartment so as not to clutter the living space.

During installation various devices indoors, it is important to consider that all available equipment is at hand. To do this, you can use the following recommendations:

Rational organization of space in the garage creates many tangible benefits:

  • it becomes possible to independently carry out short-term repairs of car parts and other mechanisms, due to which you can significantly save money;
  • Convenient placement of tools significantly speeds up work and saves time;
  • creating additional places for storing tools, old things, clothes makes it possible to relieve the apartment of things that are rarely used in the household;
  • finally, the well-thought-out internal logistics of the premises allow it to maintain its attractive appearance and avoid clutter.

NOTE. At the project development stage, it is important to take into account the area of the room, and also take into account several mandatory utility compartments - for storing summer and winter tires, cans, jacks, etc.

Garage rack: step-by-step manufacturing instructions

Since the garage always contains quite a lot of items, organizing their arrangement is a fundamental requirement for proper storage. The simplest and at the same time convenient option is to create a rack with shelves.

Preparatory stage

Before you begin installing the structure, you should consider several important requirements:

  • The total weight of the rack should not be more than 4-5 centners - otherwise the structure will be very difficult to move if necessary. It will also put significant pressure on the floor, which can deteriorate the quality of the coating.
  • When choosing materials, it is important to proceed from considerations of strength and durability of the structure. Metal is optimal, as well as wooden crafts from beech or oak. Plastic shelves are not suitable - they are not durable and, moreover, may not withstand temperature changes.
  • Choosing between metal and wooden structure, you should proceed from your specific needs. Metal is more durable and stronger, but wood is more affordable. If you need to place a few tools, it is enough to make a small wooden rack.
  • Since all the tools are very heavy, you should immediately calculate the strength of the structure so that it can withstand at least 100-150 kg on one shelf.

Installation of a wooden structure

To make such a device for a garage with your own hands, you will need ordinary working tools:

  • hacksaw for wood and metal;
  • hammer, nails;
  • screwdriver, self-tapping screws;
  • construction tape;
  • construction level;
  • electric drill.

Before assembly, it is important to prime and varnish all wooden parts. In the garage it can be observed high humidity or temperature changes - therefore, without treatment, the tree will not last long.

Installation of a metal structure

Metal structures are exceptionally durable and strong. In addition, they do not need to be treated with special materials to prevent rotting.

You can make both a rack and separate structures, for example, for storing rubber, from metal.

In this case, you should take into account the rules for storing tires, which are shown schematically in the figure.

At the design stage of a metal rack, you should take into account that all the necessary items can be freely placed in it. You can take this drawing as a basis.

Or this option.

The easiest option is to purchase a modular design and assemble it yourself. But you can make this device for the garage with your own hands. The sequence of actions is as follows:

It is better to place the heaviest equipment on the lower shelves for optimal load distribution throughout the rack. At the same time, the most the best option– when the lower floors are made of corrugated metal, and for the upper floors it is quite acceptable to use durable chipboard.

Hanging shelves: fast and practical

Not in all cases there is a need to create a rack, since it will take up a lot of space. On the other hand, in a garage of any size there is always unused upper space, which can easily be used for hanging shelves.

Structurally, it is quite possible to make any version of such a device for the garage with your own hands:

The tools you will need are the standard set described above. The sequence of actions is as follows:

If the shelf is mounted to the ceiling, you can strengthen its connection to the wall using metal corners– then the product will not wobble and will last much longer.

The entire technology is shown schematically in the figure.

Making a shield shelf

The DIY technology for making such a device for a garage has its own differences compared to installing conventional shelves:

  • The shield itself is made of durable plywood, the parameters of which are selected according to the situation. Visually, the shield should completely cover the surface of the desktop.
  • Space is allocated on the board for all shelves and appropriate notes are made.
  • Next, all the holes into which the dowels fit are made in the surface of the structure. It is on them that the hooks will be attached, on which all the tools will be placed.
  • The shield is secured to the wall using brackets. The corresponding holes are made using a hammer drill.

All steps are shown schematically in the figure.

Workbench for a garage: step-by-step instructions

Another structure that will probably be needed for repair, plumbing and other types of work is a workbench. It can be purchased in a store, but if you have a certain skill, then it is quite possible to make such a device with your own hands and put it in the garage.

Before carrying out the actual installation work, it is important to clarify several important details:

  • Where will the table be located?
  • What kind of work will mainly be carried out on it.
  • What work surface material is suitable - metal or wood?

All these questions are closely related to the purpose of the product. If work is expected to be done frequently, then it is better to choose durable metal. And for standard household tasks, durable wood will do.

It is important to understand that a workbench is not just a work surface. Often it combines the function of a wardrobe, a small chest of drawers and even a metal safe - this set of parameters depends on the specific configuration of the product.

Types of workbenches

The key classification of workbenches is based on the types of work that are supposed to be carried out on it:

At the same time, these functions can be combined, so such a classification is largely arbitrary. The best option for such a garage device is a design on metal frame With wooden surface table and drawers. It is more reliable than its wooden counterpart, and allows you to save on manufacturing due to the fact that some parts will be made of wood. The surface of the table can be reinforced with a metal sheet - then the workbench will last for a very long time.

Technology for making a workbench from a metal frame

To install the structure you will need a standard set of tools and materials:

  • welding machine;
  • grinder for metal;
  • building level;
  • jigsaw for wood;
  • screwdriver, drill;
  • self-tapping screws, anchor bolts;
  • hammer and nails;
  • metal corners with parameters 5*5 cm;
  • square pipes 6*4 cm, total length about 24-25 m;
  • steel strip 4 cm thick, up to 8-9 m long;
  • paint for wood and metal processing.

These parameters are intended for the manufacture finished product with table parameters 220*75 cm, as shown in the figure.

The sequence of actions is as follows:

Even at the stage of designing a workbench, it is important to decide whether the device will be collapsible or whether it will be permanently installed in the garage. In the case of a collapsible version, all parts are attached using self-tapping screws, and the principles of the technology will be different.

Wooden workbench manufacturing technology

A wooden workbench is less durable than a metal one. It is well suited for cases where the work is supposed to be done less often - several times a year.

To make this device for the garage with your own hands, you can use the same drawing given above, or take the diagram shown in the figure as a sample.

The algorithm will be something like this:

Do-it-yourself garage tipper: step-by-step video instructions

Along with creating the considered devices for the garage, you can also take care of making your own working tools that will be needed directly for car maintenance.

One of the most useful installations is a tipper for inspecting the bottom of the car. The need for such a product is most relevant for Russian realities, since not in every case there is a real possibility of constructing an inspection pit.

Detailed video instructions with step by step diagram manufacturing

Before making such an installation, it is extremely important to consider the issue of safety. Even a light car can cause an accident if it falls and, at a minimum, will receive serious damage. Therefore, you can only undertake the creation of such a design if you have sufficient skill.

Making your own garage fixtures allows you to rationally organize inner space and essentially get your own workshop in which you can carry out any ongoing repair work.

Original ideas for organizing space in the garage

And finally - a photo selection visual ideas on creating spacious structures from a variety of items that are likely to be found in any garage.

A garage press is assembled from scrap materials. No complex parts are needed; it is made practically from scrap metal scraps. We will need:

  • Two sections of channel, 80 cm long each, with shelf dimensions of 50x30 cm.
  • Piece profile pipe diameter 40 or 60 mm, length 2.5 meters.
  • Iron plate 8 mm thick, dimensions 250x250 cm.
  • Two corners, one of which is 300 mm long, with a cross-section of 50x50 mm, the second is 250 mm long, with a cross-section of 25x25 mm.
  • The hydraulic jack is the main mechanism of the press.
  • Two springs and bolts of different diameters for fastening. They are selected locally.

The base on which the press is located can be any plane, as long as it is strong and solid. Usually the press is installed on a workbench.

Homemade press on a workbench

First we make the side racks on which the entire mechanism rests. To do this, we take two sections of channel. From the bottom, for emphasis on each, corners are attached with the letter T. You can immediately make fastening points in them for subsequent installation on the base by drilling holes in four places on each edge. Then, using the same principle, a corner is attached to the upper part of the channel, and the pressing part of the press - a metal plate - is attached to it.

Now on the bottom of the support channels you need to make fastenings for the springs that return the press mechanism back. To do this, two holes are drilled and a bolt is screwed in from the inside. Then, using the same principle, the two upper fasteners are prepared on the underside of the pressure sheet.

Now all that remains is to make a stand for the improvised press. To do this, two profile pipes are cut, the length of which is slightly longer than the side supports from the channel. Connect them in such a way that they tightly grip the vertical posts of the press, but do not clamp them. A jack is installed under them, and holes are drilled in place for its fastening.

Improvised press on a stand

The homemade press is ready. For smooth movement, the side channel is lubricated with grease or oil. When the need arises to use it, the mechanism is installed on prepared mounts and the frame is tightened with bolts.

It’s easy to build an alarm system in the garage with your own hands; you don’t need any fancy “devices” for this. All that is needed is an old push-button telephone, a sealed contact, a spring switch, or better yet, a breaker and wires.

Do-it-yourself telephone alarm for the garage

The alarm is assembled as follows:

  1. On your phone, you need to set up a one-click call and enter your number.
  2. Then carefully disassemble it to connect the alarm wires.
  3. If the “hang up” and “call” functions on the device are controlled by one key, then the first wire is soldered to it, and the second to the speed dial digit.
  4. If these functions operate separately, then the third wire from the alarm breaker goes to the key.
  5. If the button is used with two contacts, then they are soldered onto the call and dial function button.

Assembling a homemade garage alarm from a telephone

When making such homemade products, keep in mind that the breaker button will play a major role. It must be installed on the edge garage doors between their opening and closing parts. At the same time, it should be positioned so that rain and snow do not fall on it. And the phone needs to be hidden in an inaccessible place, for example, in the far corner of the rack you built. To do this, you need to solder long wires to the contacts in advance. When closing the garage, the breaker button is pressed by the garage door leaf, and at this time the alarm is in standby mode. When the gate is broken or opened, the contact opens and the circuit signal is sent to the telephone, which will dial the entered number.

Remember that DIY projects like garage alarms require a certain amount of secrecy. You don’t need to tell everyone what a craftsman you are.

It is simply impossible without such structures as racks with shelves. You can put all the little things, spare parts, tools on them and attach them homemade press in disassembled form. To ensure that such homemade products fit into the garage space, first determine the location for their installation. They are usually constructed on one side of a wall or at the end of a room. The width must be calculated so that there is free access to the car and the open doors do not touch the pillars.

To install shelving you will need:

  • block with a cross section of 50x50 mm,
  • sheets of chipboard or OSB for the construction of shelves,
  • iron corners and nails.

The base of the rack must be strong, because the considerable weight of the laid out tools presses on the shelves. Carry out all the calculations in advance and only then start working.

The basis of a homemade tool rack

The block is attached to the ceiling first. To do this you will need self-tapping screws plastic stoppers. Using a hammer drill, holes are drilled along a pre-marked line in increments of 20–30 cm. Plugs are installed in them and the block is attached to them with self-tapping screws. Then the plumb line determines the installation location of the lower bar. Both the top and bottom bars should be on the same horizontal line to keep the shelving level and strong.

Now you need to install the vertical posts. For better stability of a rack with shelves, they need to be fastened every 40–50 cm. They are fixed with nails, which are driven in using the “oblique hammering” method or using iron corners. We measure the distance from the top bar to the bottom and according to the size we prepare the vertical elements of the shelving frame.

Now you need to install horizontal jumpers to support the shelves, but first you need to mark the places for their attachment. For this you will need a tape measure. From the floor, mark the distance to install the first row of shelves on the rack on each vertically installed block. Then measure the distance between each stand. We cut the bars to these sizes. Now they need to be secured. We insert one between the posts and secure it with screws from the end, two on each side. This way we install all the frame elements. Then, from the installed bars, the second row of shelves on the rack is marked with a tape measure. They are installed in the same way.

Installation of frame elements of a homemade rack

Before installation, it would be better to calculate in advance the number of shelves on the racks and assemble the frame according to the drawn-up drawing or diagram.

Having assembled the outer frame, all that remains is to secure the bars to the wall to install the shelves. A line is marked on the wall, at the level of each row of cross beams on the frame. Then building level The horizontal position is checked and the timber is attached along the entire length of the structure according to the markings.

All that remains is to make the shelves for the rack and install them. We measure the distance from the wall to the edge of the frame and from one vertical post to another. According to the obtained dimensions, we cut the chipboard sheet, install it in place and, for reliability, fix it on top with self-tapping screws. We do all the shelves in the same way.

Shelves usually don’t have doors; you can hang a dark fabric curtain along the entire length. That's all, the place to store the necessary things is ready. All that remains is to simulate homemade workbench and the garage will be stocked.

It is impossible to make homemade items in the garage without having a workbench at your disposal. First, its support is assembled from corners or a profile pipe. It is better to connect these parts by welding. But if this is not possible, then bolted fastening is allowed. But for this you will have to additionally mark the joints and drill holes. The convenient height of the finished workbench is 90 cm from the floor. This will make it more convenient to carry out work at the workbench. But for some it is better to repair while sitting, in which case the height of the workbench will be different. The dimensions and dimensions for each garage are different. And it’s better to decide on them before assembly.

Having assembled the base, we move on to making the tabletop for the workbench. Recommended thickness is 7–7.5 cm. Can be made from a single sheet of multilayer plywood 100 mm thick. If this is not possible, we will do it differently. Let's glue together a table top from several sheets of regular plywood. Standard thickness– 1 cm and in this case 7 pieces will be enough. Having decided in advance on the size of the workbench (its upper part, where the table top will be attached), we saw off the plywood along it. You can use PVA glue for connection, but better moment or BF. It must be applied to each sheet separately and after waiting for 3-5 minutes, connect all the sheets.

Making a workbench top from plywood

After this, the glued sheets must be laid on a flat place and pressed down on top with a heavy load; everything should remain in this state for 24 hours. In order not to cut each sheet of plywood to size, you can first glue them together, and then cut out the tabletop for the workbench from the prepared material.

Now you need to cut off an iron sheet for the top covering of the working surface of the workbench, on which all work will be carried out (metal 4–6 mm thick is required). For accuracy, it is better to place it on plywood and trace the outline with an awl or nail. Then cut the sheet with a jigsaw equipped with a metal file. The tabletop must be secured with bolts, having previously drilled holes in it and on the workbench. After assembling the workbench, you can make small shelves and cabinets with doors in its lower part. Any plywood or pieces of chipboard left over after making the racks will be suitable for this.

Iron sheet for workbench top cover

A variety of homemade products make the life and work process of a car enthusiast much easier. There is no need to look in the corners to see where everything is, all the details are in their place. A simple-to-assemble alarm system will reliably protect the garage from burglary or car theft.
