Which pump is best for increasing water pressure. Recommendations for the selection and installation of pumps to increase water pressure. Implementation of boost stations

When you open the faucet in your home to simply drink water, and a sluggish trickle flows from it, the thought immediately comes to mind of installing it in the water supply line.

Adequate water pressure in the pipes is the key to the normal life of a person living in a private cottage, country house or high-rise apartment. This is very important for the trouble-free operation of household hydraulic machines and plumbing parts. This is one of the very important conditions your comfortable living and the durability of your home’s expensive water equipment.

For normal operation of the main models of household hydraulic machines and plumbing units, a water pressure in the pipelines of 2 to 4 bar is sufficient. If you periodically or constantly have a lack of these indicators at the outlet of the intake taps, then you should understand the reasons for this deficiency and, if necessary, install booster pumps for yourself individually or for collective use.

Below we will describe the basic requirements for checking the performance of your water supply system, the criteria for choosing the appropriate equipment, and consider Various types pumps for increasing water pressure in mains from different manufacturers.

Key issues covered in this article

  • Comparative scale technical characteristics water pressure in pumps of various types.
  • Possible reasons shortage of water pressure in the mains.
  • Types of pumps for increasing water pressure in pipelines.
  • Read the instructions and install the pump.

Comparative scale of technical characteristics of water pressure in pumps of various types

Global pump manufacturers use for the pressure characteristics of pumps different types the following units of water pressure:

For quick approximate household calculations, approximate ratios of these quantities are suitable:

In practice, for the normal operation of household hydraulic equipment with automation, the use of flow valves and the operation of bathrooms, work geysers and boilers, it is enough to maintain water pressure in the pipelines within 2-4 bar for all major models of household water devices.

Possible reasons for the lack of water pressure in the mains

The lack of water pressure in your pipelines for high-rise apartments may be due to several reasons:

  • Daily fluctuations in water pressure in the water supply due to the frequency of use of the resource by the residents of the house;
  • Lack of design capacity of general-use pumping equipment from the service organization;
  • Temporary deposits of rust and salts inside the pipeline that clog the body of the water riser:

  • Clogged water filters in the water supply connection system:

In such cases, neighbors on the floor and residents of the upper and lower floors should be interviewed apartment building to find out what water pressure is usually in their apartments. This way you can identify the local cause of low pressure in your particular case. It will be possible to accept correct solution to troubleshoot these problems or choose to purchase a pump high pressure water individually or common use, having agreed on this issue with other residents of the entrance (riser) of the high-rise building.

In a private home, these reasons are of a similar type. But there may be various additional reasons for low water pressure in your pipeline:

  • Large distance from the main water supply pump;
  • Excessive elevation of the structure and location of the flow valves above the pump installation level;
  • Inconsistency between the pressure data of the power plant and the specific layout of power and consumable units, etc.

Types of water pressure boosting pumps in pipelines

In practice, you can increase the pressure in the water artery using 2 well-known types of pumps:

  1. By inserting a circulation pump with a wet or dry rotor into the water supply line;
  2. By installing into the main line an additional self-priming power unit or an automatic pumping station based on this type of pump.

Diagrams of approximate connection of pressure booster pumps of various types:

Electric circulation pumps help in cases where it is necessary to increase the water pressure in the pipeline with a stable supply, but low pressure, reaching no more than 1 - 1.5 bar. In multi-storey buildings, using this type of pump it is unlikely that it will be possible to create a sufficiently stable pressure for all residents of the riser, even if you install 2 or more pumps. This option is more suitable for individually increasing water pressure in a separate apartment. This is, so to speak, a “home” option for stabilizing pressure.

For this reason, in apartment buildings with large number of floors, it is better to use a self-priming pump with higher capacity or a pumping station with appropriate automatic water pressure with its own hydraulic accumulator.

With this option, you will not bother yourself with the problems of turning the pump on and off; the automation will do it for you.

When installing any type of pump, it should be taken into account that if there is temporarily no water pressure at all in the taps of a high-rise building on the upper floors, then installing a booster pump will not correct this situation. The pump requires at least a minimum water pressure that meets technical limitations in order to increase it to the desired level.

If you install any booster pump only in your apartment, then keep in mind that it will create a discharge effect in the common pipeline before it. And air will be sucked into this rarefied space. It would be good if the pump was automatically protected from dry running and its motor would not burn out, but it would constantly turn off. In this case, you create an even greater pressure drop in the common water supply pipe. If other residents of your entrance or riser follow your example, this will lead to even more disastrous results with water and real “sanctions” from the water supply organization.

Self-priming pumps are limited by the amount of water rise along the installation height from the water surface to 7-8 meters (maximum 12). You also cannot install a large reservoir for a circular pump with a supply of water in a medium-sized apartment. You will have to negotiate and cooperate with neighbors to install such a container in the attic of the house.

The most competent and comprehensive solution to these problems can be the installation of a full-fledged automatic station with self-priming centrifugal pump. The power device must be of high performance. Contain your own hydraulic accumulator of the maximum possible volume and fully automate the water supply process. This station can be connected to the basement collector of the common riser of the general water supply or to an autonomous source. This is the only way to create the required water pressure at the outlet of all taps and not aggravate the situation for the neighbors.

Selecting a water pressure booster pump

Circular pumps are divided into 2 groups:

We are accustomed to considering circular pumps only as elements of heating systems. But they have wider applications.

  • Household pumps with wet rotor. They are more compact and quieter during operation. They do not require preventive maintenance to lubricate rubbing parts, since this occurs by washing the rotor shaft with water. They are easy and simple to install directly into the water supply pipe using a tie-in and do not require additional fastenings. But this group of pumps has low performance and low pressure indicators. In addition, these units are installed with a horizontal axis of the electric motor rotor.
  • Circular pumps with a dry rotor have an asymmetrical housing shape towards the electric motor. They are cooled by a stream of external air from a special impeller. Requires additional fastening to the wall. They have better technical capabilities in terms of pressure and performance. They require regular lubrication of rubbing parts. They create quite a loud noise when working.

Both groups are suitable for cold and hot water, but require constant manual control of the on/off mode.

To save yourself from this, you need to choose a circular pump equipped with a water flow sensor. Then the pump will start only when the supply tap is opened and there is water in the line.

The same effect can be achieved by installing a separate flow sensor on any group of circular pumps. And if the pressure in the system is unstable and there is insufficient water in the water supply, you will need to install an additional pressure switch.

Some popular models of circular pumps from global manufacturers: Grundfos (Grundfos):

  • Self-priming centrifugal pumps can operate when water pressure increases, both independently and as part of automatic pumping stations.

  • Specialized stations for increasing water pressure from main water pipelines of the Gilex VODOMET M brand are used for inserting into the underwater part of individual sources. They have an additional flow-through filter unit for supplying already purified drinking water:

Read the instructions and install the pump

To solve a problem with water supply, you should not chase any exorbitant indicators for pressure and pump performance. You just need to add some 1.0 – 1.5 atm to the existing pressure (10 – 15 meters above the flow tap).

So you should not have any questions about how to choose a pump, what characteristics it should have. It is enough to look at the instructions for this product or listen to the recommendations of the technical manager of the store where you decided to buy the installation. The descriptions of the pumps contain all the data on their connection to the water system (connection diagram), there are rules for installing a specific product and it is described what and how to connect in the required sequence.

As a last resort, we turn to qualified specialists for practical help in installing and configuring the pump at your dacha, cottage or high-rise building.

You can learn more about the operating principle of the listed pumps and how their automation works from the articles on our website in the section: or by calling our consultant.

If the house has running water, it is logical to assume that there is water in it. But, unfortunately, this does not always happen. Sometimes the pressure is so weak that household appliances, unable to withstand such a test, simply refuse to work; in high-rise buildings, water often does not reach the upper floors at all, stopping at lower levels. It is in such situations that pumps will come in handy to increase the water pressure in the system.

How to achieve ideal pressure in water pipes?

Several values are used as units for measuring water pressure in pipes: 1 bar = 1.0197 atmospheres = 10.19 m of water column. According to standards, the pressure in city water supply networks should be 4 atmospheres, but the reality is that the differences can be very significant. Pressure of more than 6-7 atmospheres has a detrimental effect on sensitive imported and domestic plumbing fixtures and destroys pipe connections, but low pressure also causes no less trouble. At a pressure of less than 2 atmospheres, neither a washing machine nor a dishwasher, not to mention a jacuzzi, will be able to operate normally.

Minimum pressure required to operate most household appliances, ranges from 1.5 to 2.4 atmospheres, in fire extinguishing systems the requirements are more serious - at least 3 atmospheres. If the indicators in the system are much lower, for example because the apartment is located on top floor buildings, or due to large water consumption, there is a need to use special means(boost units) that would maintain the required level of pressure.

Before choosing a high pressure pump, it is necessary to specify the problem. The most common complaints are:

  • water flows from the tap, but the pressure is so weak that there is no talk of any comfort;
  • There is no water only on the upper floors of the building, on the lower floors everything is fine.

In the first case, a water pressure booster pump can be a solution to the problem. In the second, it will be powerless; you will have to fork out money to buy a self-priming unit.

A pumping station can solve pressure problems in most cases, but you need to know how to connect this equipment

The choice is very individual, depending on the need for water and several more important factors. Before doing this, you need to make sure that the problem is precisely insufficient pressure, and not clogged pipes, since, due to lime deposits or mechanical particles, the diameter of the pipes can become much smaller over time, the pump will not help here, the water supply will need to be replaced. If the problem really lies in weak pressure, then the equipment will be useful.

Model classification

So, when choosing, they take into account whether it is necessary to simply increase the weak pressure or to transfer water from the lower floors to the upper ones. In the first case, you will need a device that is small in power and size, of an “in-line” design, which is simply mounted in the pipeline, in the second - a high-pressure centrifugal water unit with a hydraulic accumulator. They operate in one of two modes:

  • Manual mode – ensures continuous operation of the equipment. You need to make sure that it does not overheat and fail, and turn it off in time.
  • Auto mode. With it, the work is regulated by a flow sensor. As soon as the tap turns on and water starts flowing, the pump turns on. This mode is preferable to the first one, in which the water pump for increasing pressure is protected from operating in dry mode (in the absence of water), which means it will last longer. The automatic option is more economical.

There is also a classification of pumping equipment according to the method of cooling the housing. It can be carried out using an engine impeller or using the pumped liquid:

  • Cooling using blades mounted on a shaft, the so-called dry rotor design. Such engines are characterized high efficiency and slight noise during operation.
  • Cooling using the pumped liquid, the so-called wet rotor. The unit with such a cooling system operates almost silently.

The size of the pump is also important for the user, because the equipment often has to be installed in small rooms.

The dry rotor pump boasts high efficiency

In contrast to the previous one, a pump with a wet rotor operates silently

Usually carried out at the entrance to an apartment or house. It is important to take into account that there are universal pumps that can be used for cold and hot water supply systems without further hesitation. And there are those that are used only for cold water, or for hot.

“Heavy artillery”: how to choose a household pumping station

If you are convinced that the pipes are not clogged, and the water simply does not reach your floor, then you will have to acquire a more powerful unit - a self-priming pumping station. The pump can be installed with or without a hydraulic accumulator. Many owners of small apartments choose last option, but experts strongly recommend choosing the first one, even with the smallest tank.

The pumping station will allow you to “lift” water from the lower floor or from the well

The station itself is a surface centrifugal unit for increasing water pressure, which is connected to a hydraulic accumulator and a pressure switch that controls the entire system. With its help, water is taken from the system and supplied to the tank. Even after the pressure switch turns off the pump, the consumer can use the stored water; this is very convenient if the water is turned off frequently. At the same time, the pressure will drop. As soon as it drops to a certain level, the relay will work again and the pump will turn on again. It’s easy to guess that the larger the tank, the longer the equipment lasts, since it turns on and off less often.

What to consider when choosing a specific unit for a house or apartment

So, choosing pump equipment, you need to take into account several important points:

  • the assigned task;
  • characteristics ( throughput and created pressure);
  • authority of the manufacturer;
  • the dimensions of the room in which the equipment is planned to be installed;
  • the amount you plan to spend on its purchase.

Without knowledge of the required productivity and pressure, right choice very difficult to do. It is better to entrust all necessary calculations to a specialist. Many companies that sell such equipment provide this service completely free of charge.

If you just need to slightly increase the pressure in the system, by about 1.5 atmospheres, then a compact pump that can be easily and simply inserted directly into the pipe is ideal. Diagram (to photo): 1 - Circulation unit; 2 – Filter; 3 - Shut-off valve; 4 – Thermoregulator; 5 - Safety valve.

Compact pressure booster pump can be mounted directly into the pipe

Some experts consider installing an expensive and powerful pump unnecessary. In their opinion, a more rational option is several devices of lower power, which are connected directly in front of the analysis points and household appliances, the operation of which needs to be optimized.

Purchasing pumping equipment to ensure good water pressure in an apartment or house is not a problem; it is widely available in stores household appliances, in online stores, on construction markets. But it’s better to go to a branded salon, where there is a wider choice, there is an opportunity to get specialist advice, and there is warranty service, which is especially important for those who purchase an expensive model.

Life modern man without running water is unthinkable. But often the owners of both apartments and summer cottages various reasons are faced with the problem of insufficient pressure in the system. This can bring a lot of inconvenience, because household appliances - washing machines, dishwashers, boilers, geysers - stop working when the water pressure is low. It happens that water may not flow to the upper floors of high-rise buildings at all. In private houses this problem may occur if the system is based on storage tank and the water flows by gravity.

To solve the problem low pressure There are two ways. You can install a pumping station, but this method is not at all cheap. It will be easier and cheaper to install a booster pump.

1 Characteristics and operating principle

Plumbing in multi-storey and private buildings includes several basic structures and elements. The main one is the pipeline.

One of important parameters water supply is the pressure in the system. European water pressure standards are 4-5 atmospheres. This minimum is based on the necessary requirements of plumbing fixtures. For example, at a pressure below 2 atmospheres, the washing machine will not even start. For various showers and Jacuzzis, a pressure of 4 atmospheres is required. And for hydromassage devices, even higher parameters are required.

However, pressure above 7 atmospheres can seriously damage the water supply network. Therefore, the water pressure in the system should be within necessary boundaries and be stable.

2 Types of pumps

Devices for increasing pressure in a pipeline are various designs and may differ significantly from each other. According to their purpose and type of design, booster pumps are divided into two groups.

2.1 Circulating

Circulation pumps. This is a standard boost device. It promotes the circulation of water in the pipes, which is why it is called circulation. The mechanism is small and compact. It cuts into a specific part of the water supply to increase the pressure and speed of water circulation.

Initially, the booster pump was intended for heating and systems with hot water. In long-drawn heating circuits, normal circulation of the medium in the system is difficult. Therefore, a mechanism is used to increase pressure.

The situation is similar in ordinary plumbing. Only here the device already works, increasing the overall water pressure.

Circulation pumps consist of a motor that rotates a rotor with an impeller. This small device forces fluid into the chamber and improves the parameters of the pipeline.

2.2 Self-priming

Self-priming booster pumping stations. This unit consists of surface pump and hydraulic accumulator. The principle of a self-priming pump is that it is self-priming, meaning it can lift water in the pipes even if it is not accessible. Then the pump pumps a certain level of liquid into the accumulator, at which the system closes. The battery regulates the pressure level in the system and maintains it at the required level thanks to the presence check valves and air membrane.

The device is configured using a pressure switch. It is also responsible for automating all processes.

2.3 What are the pros and cons of booster pumps?

The circulation pump has low power. At the same time, the pressure increases by 2-3 atmospheres. Devices with more powerful motors work more efficiently. Pump up to 2-3 cubic meters of water per hour.

Boost stations are more powerful. Consumes at least 2 kW, but lifts water up to 12 meters.

Thus, circulation pump eliminates the problem in a separate area, and suction equipment is used to regulate the entire water supply in an apartment or private house. Self-priming devices lift liquid to a height of up to 12 m.

Circulation pumps are also divided according to the type of media.

  1. For cold water. These are the simplest models, usually made of cheap plastic. They pump water at temperatures up to 40 degrees.
  2. For hot water. This variety is used in heating and hot water supply systems. Made from of stainless steel and high quality tires.

There are also universal devices that work with liquids of different temperatures.

Based on the type of control, pumps that increase the water pressure in the system are divided into:

  1. Manually operated devices. The device is constantly either on or off. You just need to make sure that there is liquid in the system. Working “dry” can cause the pump to burn out. Therefore, it is turned on to perform one-time actions and turned off after the work is completed.
  2. Automatically controlled devices. They are equipped with a special sensor that turns on the device when necessary. When there is no water in the system, the sensor turns off the device.

The cooling system protects the mechanism from overheating. It can be of two types.

  1. With a “wet rotor” the devices are cooled by water flowing through the pump. Their operation is almost silent, but they can overheat when working without water.
  2. Devices with a “dry rotor” are cooled thanks to rotating blades that are fixed to the shaft. Have more high level performance, but also quite noisy during operation.

Pumps are also divided according to installation method into:

  • horizontal;
  • vertical;
  • universal.

They differ in the availability of speeds:

  • single-stage – one pumping speed;
  • multi-stage - work of varying intensity, depending on water consumption.

Construction type:

  • in-line are compact models with low productivity. Built into the pipeline;
  • vortex - high performance, but noisy in operation and require special piping.

2.4 Operating principle

Pressure boosting pumps operate as follows. When the liquid flow reaches 1.5 cubic meters, the position of the motion sensor petal changes. In this case, the pump turns on automatically. When the fluid flow stops, the pump turns off.

Sometimes it is necessary to install two or more boosting devices. This need arises in cases with improperly designed plumbing system. The cost of additional equipment and pipeline modifications should be calculated. And choose a more economical option.

3 Device selection

When choosing a pressure-increasing apparatus, the characteristics of the equipment, calculations, required tasks, the manufacturer’s company, as well as the amount for its purchase are taken into account.

If there is liquid in the pipeline, but its pressure is weak, you can choose a circulation model.

If there is no water in the tap at all, but there is a lower level, then you should choose a booster station with a self-priming pump.

For water supply in a private house, built-in pumps with a wet rotor are usually chosen. This option is easy to install and silent in operation.

Devices with multi-stage adjustment and a stainless steel body are more preferable, but they are also more expensive.

3.1 What parameters do you pay attention to when choosing?

When choosing a pump responsible for increasing the pressure in the water supply, its parameters are also taken into account.

  1. Power. Must meet the needs of the system. The number of taps and characteristics of household appliances are taken into account. Too much power can be harmful.
  2. Lifting height. A self-priming device designed for smaller loads will not raise the water to a sufficient height.
  3. Pipe section size. If the device and the pipe have a different cross-section, the pump will work with overloads and the pressure will be less than expected.
  4. Noise level.
  5. Device size.

4 For water filtration

There are methods for water purification:

  • mechanical;
  • reagent;
  • chemical.

But now the scheme is becoming increasingly popular reverse osmosis water purification. It is based on the membrane method, in which water is purified from impurities.

4.1 In what cases is a pump needed?

Pumps for reverse osmosis systems are used if the pressure in the pipeline is below 2.8 atmospheres, which is necessary for the operation of the installation. When the pressure is below the required one, the installation is switched off.

The reverse osmosis scheme with a pump differs from the usual one only in the presence of a pump. The reverse osmosis pump is equipped with high and low pressure sensors that turn off the device when necessary. The device also has protection against dry running. If the liquid storage tank is full, the sensor turns off the pump, and when water begins to be consumed, it turns the pump on again. The operating voltage of the pump is 24 V and 36 V. The voltage transformer converts the mains voltage into the operating voltage of the pump. Transformer models differ in different types pump A reverse osmosis circuit with a pump allows you to obtain clean water around the clock.

5 Equipment installation

Installation of the water pressure increase device is carried out as follows.

  1. Mark the pipe on which the pump will be installed, taking into account the length of the device and adapters.
  2. The water in the room is turned off.
  3. The pipe is cut in the marked places.
  4. Threads are made on the cut ends of the pipe.
  5. Adapters with internal threads are screwed onto the pipes.
  6. The adapters are screwed into the fittings that are included in the kit. When installing the device, follow the instructions of the arrow on the device body, which indicates the direction of water flow.
  7. A three-core cable is pulled from the electrical panel to the device. It is advisable to equip a socket near the device and connect the device through a separate RCD.
  8. Turn on the pump and check its operation. Check to see if there are any leaks from the fittings. Tighten fastenings if necessary. For effective sealing, use FUM tape, which is wound around the thread.

5.1 HOW TO INSTALL STEP UP PUMP GPD 15-9A? (VIDEO)

A pump to increase water pressure in the water supply system is purchased to stabilize the pressure in the system. Indeed, for the simultaneous operation of several points of consumption, for example, two taps, the pressure in the system must reach 1.5 atmospheres. A washing machine or dishwasher will only operate at a pressure of 2 atmospheres (and no less). And Jacuzzis and showers with a hydromassage function “start” at a pressure of at least 4 atmospheres.

At the same time, in household water supply there is often no minimum pressure (1.5 atmospheres), not to mention standard indicators (4-4.5 atmospheres). As a result, installing a water pressure booster pump is the only way to ensure any acceptable living conditions in the house. After all, without this pump, neither a shower stall nor a washing machine will function.

And in this article we will discuss the choice of devices used to stabilize the pressure in household water supply systems at an acceptable level.

Firstly, if there is water only on the lower floors of the house. Secondly, if you open one tap, it is no longer possible to use the second source of consumption. And thirdly, if the system has a frankly weak pressure, which is not enough to service household or plumbing appliances

In short, both a conventional pump and a powerful self-priming pumping station are used if there is no stable pressure in your water supply. Moreover, problems with the water supply will certainly affect general level comfort, reducing the “quality of life” itself.

Therefore, you will have to buy a pressure pump or pumping station:

  • Firstly, it is quite powerful, but without frills: after all, increasing the pressure to 6-7 atmospheres can destroy internal elements(seals, valves, etc.) shut-off and control valves.
  • Secondly, it is relatively cheap: after all, money needs to be spent “wisely”.
  • And, thirdly, it is compact and low-noise: after all, the immodest dimensions of the unit will spoil the entire interior of the home, and noise pollution will disrupt the comfort of living.

But both a conventional pump and a pumping station fit these criteria. What's better? Let's figure it out.

Household water pressure booster pumps

Such devices are installed in indoor plumbing houses or apartments. Therefore, pumps should not be large and noisy.

Moreover, there are two schemes for operating such equipment:

  • A permanent option that requires almost 24/7 operation of the device.
  • Automatic option, turning on the unit “on demand”.

In the first case, we only need a pump, and in the second, we will also have to add a flow sensor to it, which, of course, will affect the price of the equipment.

But the more expensive automatic option is still more profitable than the cheaper permanent one. Let us explain why: during operation, the pump heats up and fails due to overheating. Therefore, continuous use of such equipment is strictly contraindicated.

And the automatic pump, which works from time to time, turns on only when the flow is caused by water consumption (an open tap, a washing machine on, and so on). Therefore, it will never burn out. And such a pump consumes much less electricity.

In the end, any prudent homeowner will choose the automatic option, despite the slightly inflated cost. And permanent pumps are good only in one case - if they are used in one-time operations. For example, if necessary, stabilize the pressure after activating the irrigation system. In this case, the pump is simply “plugged in” and turned off after the procedure is completed.

Pumping stations

Essentially, this is the same high-pressure vibration or centrifugal water pump with a hydraulic accumulator or hydraulic tank. However, unlike pumps, stations are installed between the water source and the water supply. As a result, it is the pumping station that generates the pressure in the water supply.

Moreover, almost all systems are equipped with similar installations autonomous water supply. And to stabilize the pressure in the system, you need to either replace the existing station with a more powerful one, or replace only the pump or storage tank of the station with a more productive analogue.

In addition, to increase the pressure in the pipeline, you don’t even have to change anything! It is enough to simply adjust the operation of the pressure switch. The essence of this solution is that a special device is “responsible” for the pressure of the station - a pressure switch that monitors the operation of the pump and storage tank.

Let us explain in more detail: the pump pumps water into the storage tank, which releases it into the water supply system. In this case, the pump does not operate constantly, but only when the pressure in the storage tank is less than the minimum. Then it turns on, pumping water until the pressure in the accumulator rises to the maximum possible.

The maximum and minimum pressure in the storage tank is determined by a special relay. Increase the time of the lower pressure limit in the accumulator, and it will increase throughout the water supply.

How to choose a pump?

The selection of a high pressure pump is based on the following rules:

  • Firstly, the pump must work as long as needed, without pauses or long breaks, without overheating or shutting down. Therefore, you need a unit from a trusted company with a good reputation, and not a Chinese-made clone.
  • Secondly, the pump must increase the pressure in the system to an acceptable level of 4-5 atmospheres, and no more. Therefore, the purchase of a heavy-duty station for deep wells is not always justified. And if you cannot calculate the required unit performance yourself, contact a specialist. In specialized stores, this service is offered to all pump buyers absolutely free.
  • Thirdly, the pump must fit the purchase budget. Good equipment It's not cheap. But it pays for itself due to trouble-free operation. Cheap pumps require frequent maintenance and practically do-it-yourself repair. After all service centers there are simply no no-name manufacturers. Therefore, if you do not have plumbing and plumbing skills or do not have time for such work, buy a reliable unit from a trusted brand, for example, a wilo water pressure booster pump. This technique will pay for itself 100 percent.

As you can see: the selection rules are very simple. But if you have doubts about your decisions, contact a specialist.

Majority specialized companies offer a solution to the problem of insufficient pressure in a turnkey format. That is, with calling a specialist for diagnostics, calculating and selecting equipment and subsequent installation of all units in the water supply system.

The water supply system is a rather complex system of pipes, valves and taps, which must uninterruptedly supply water to consumers. The quality of operation of these systems is assessed by such technical parameters as " water pressure".

According to the current standard The water pressure in the water supply network must be within 3…6 atmospheres. It is known that when the water pressure in the pipes less than 2 atmospheres operation of household appliances (dishwashers and washing machines, water heaters...) n not possible. If the water pressure in the pipes is 7 atmospheres or more, That plumbing fails and pipe joints are destroyed.

That's why constant availability the required water pressure within specified limits is one of the most important tasks in the development and further use of water supply systems. Solving this problem is especially important at the design stage of water supply systems. . Indeed, during their design, it is necessary to take into account a huge number of factors, ranging from the number of consumers to the average hourly water consumption of each facility, be it apartment house, enterprise or any other consumer.

In practice, it is extremely difficult to balance the influence of all existing factors, so in reality we have unbalanced water supply networks. Hence the constant problems with the supply of water to the population.

Why do you need a pump to increase water pressure?

The minimum water pressure that must be present in the pipes is 2-3 atmospheres. This level of water pressure provides normal operation of household appliances, fire hydrants, etc. If the water pressure does not meet this requirement, it is necessary to use special devices that provide the specified level of pressure. These devices are:

  • Water pressure booster pump .
  • .

Boost pump water pressure in the house is used when there is water in the system, but the pressure is so low that its use is impossible. If on the first floors of the house the pressure is normal, but on the last floors there is no water at all, then the problem can be solved by using a self-priming pumping station.

When choosing a device that will help solve an existing problem, first you need to determine the cause of the low pressure . Low blood pressure often occurs when corrosion water pipes or if they clogged with organic deposits. In this case, in use additional equipment not necessary - pipes need to be changed urgently. If the problem is still low pressure, then a water pressure pump in the house will help get rid of it.

Self-priming pump station It is assembled on the basis of the same pump to increase water pressure, which is connected to a hydraulic accumulator and uses a water pressure switch for the pump to control the entire system. In this case, water is pumped into the storage tank.

Classification of water pressure pump models

There are several options for classifying water pressure pumps:

  • by appointment;
  • by cooling method;
  • according to operating mode.

According to their purpose, pumps are divided into:

  • used only for one type of water (cold or hot);
  • universal , used for any type of water.

Depending on the cooling method, pumps are:

  • air cooling (dry rotor). The pump motor does not come into contact with water, and cooling is carried out by fan blades mounted on the shaft;
  • water cooling (wet rotor). The rotor with impeller is placed in water and isolated from the stator with a special glass. Cooling of the motor is provided by the pumped water.

Operating modes of water pressure pumps:

  • auto . The pump operation is controlled by a flow sensor. The pump is activated when any tap is opened and turns off when it is closed;
  • manual . The pump runs continuously. The pump is turned on and off manually, but it is important to avoid overheating the motor.

Advantages and disadvantages of conventional types of pumps and pumping stations

In general, equipment for increasing water pressure has advantages and disadvantages characteristic of this type of equipment:

  1. High pressure pumps for water.

Advantages:

  • small sizes;
  • light weight;
  • quiet operation;
  • installation directly on a water pipe;
  • low cost.

The disadvantage is the inability to increase water pressure by more than 1 atmosphere.

  1. Pumping stations.

The main advantage is to ensure the required level of water pressure. Provides the opportunity to fully meet the water supply needs of an apartment building, private country cottage or cottages in automatic mode (if there is a water pressure switch for the pump).

Flaws:

  • technically complex installation;
  • large dimensions;
  • relatively loud noise;
  • availability of a separate room for installation;
  • high price.
