Classic bedspreads for the bedroom. Stylish bed decoration - choosing a bedspread for the bedroom. Selection of curtains to create style in the decoration of the antechamber

To update your bedroom interior, you can sew a bedspread; there are so many ideas to choose from suitable option Just. With the help of textiles, a color accent is created or a large piece of furniture fits harmoniously into the overall design. The decision to decorate a bedroom should only take into account a competent combination of the overall style and individual furnishings. After all, a chic bedspread made of brocade or satin will look ridiculous in a small room with inexpensive furnishings.

To update your bedroom interior, you can sew a bedspread

The main item in a bedroom of any style is the bed. It is she who is the center of the composition when choosing the design of a room. In no large bedrooms In city apartments, the bed occupies a significant area of the room and has a dominant role.

Based on these considerations, the choice color range for a bedspread is dictated by the need to make the bed less or more noticeable. In large bedrooms, it makes sense to emphasize its importance, highlighting it as a bright spot in the interior. A blanket made of contrasting or light-reflecting smooth fabric such as satin can be used for this. Pillows, a runner or cape, and a bed valance that match the decor help to link the selected item with the palette of the surroundings and harmonize the design.

If the room is small, then you want to visually make a spacious, especially double, bed smaller, thereby expanding the space of the bedroom. In this case, it makes sense to select the bedspread itself so that it matches the color scheme of the interior. Small details can be made of contrasting fabrics, creating the effect of small areas of color and distracting attention from a large piece of furniture. Bright pillows or a runner, a throw on the head of the bed, an insert of contrasting fabric on a plain bedspread or a stripe with appliqué are techniques that can be used when decorating a small bedroom.

Using textiles you can create a color accent or harmoniously fit a large piece of furniture into the overall design

How to choose a suitable bedspread model?

The choice of model or style of bedspread should be dictated by the personal taste of the housewife herself. But you should not try to fit into the interior a thing that does not fit general style premises. Lush satin products with a border of frills and ruffles are unlikely to look harmonious in a modern, cold, high-tech interior or in a minimalist bedroom.

A bed cover should be appropriate in every specific bedroom. The furnishings are decorated in Provence style or in another rustic spirit patchwork product, but such an element may not be suitable for a Victorian bedroom. Fashionable solutions in bed design need to be combined in style with the bedroom design.

How to sew a bedspread yourself?

Sewing bedspreads with your own hands is not the most difficult thing. seen design project It can be brought to life with a little effort. The basis of a beautiful bedspread is a correctly selected pattern.

In the simplest case, it is a rectangle, to calculate the length and width of which you need to perform the following measurements:

  • the length of the bed (from head to foot) and an allowance of 3.5 cm for a loose fit around the corners;
  • width and allowance 3 cm;
  • bed height - from the surface of the mattress to the floor or the desired height of the overhang of the edge of the bedspread.

The choice of model or style of bedspread should be dictated by the personal taste of the housewife herself.

The height measurement should be multiplied by 2 and added to the width measurement with allowance. Additionally, you need to take into account the hem allowance (about 7 cm). If the bed has 2 backs, then you won’t have to add anything to the length, but if there is a free edge at the foot, you will need to make an overhang here too. In this case, the value of its height and the allowance for hem of the edge (3.5 cm) are added to the length of the bed. If the bed does not have a headboard, then you will have to add the height value multiplied by 2 to the length, doubling the hem allowance.

Bedspread with frill

To make a pattern for a frilly bedspread, the same measurements for the height, length and width of the bed will do. But the rectangle that will lie on top of the bed should be built separately, guided by the values for length and width, taking into account another 2 cm allowance for seams when connecting the panel with the frill.

Cut the strips for the sides as indicated in the diagram: their width is equal to the desired length of the frill or the height of the bed, and the length should be 1.5-2 times the length of the side of the panel where it will be sewn. The splendor of the folds on the side overhangs depends precisely on the length of the strip (Fig. 1). If you want the bedspread to drape beautifully at the corners, then you need to add inserts (the corner part of the frill is in the diagram).

Complex bedspread

A two-tier frilly bedspread design is not as complicated as it might seem. The panel of the top layer must be cut out according to the diagram (Fig. 2). The edge is modeled individually; it can be made either straight or curly. If desired, the panel is made with a lining and filling made of a thin layer of padding polyester. In this version, it will be additionally decorated with curly stitch. Cut all 3 parts using one pattern.

The side overhangs of the lower tier are ordinary frills made of dark-colored fabric. The pattern for them is given in the previous section. Sew the frill strips to the underside of the panel when making the product.

How to make a path or cape?

A track is a narrow strip of contrasting color. It is placed along or across the bed; a diagonal arrangement is also possible. The bed path is cut out in the form of a rectangle of the desired width and length (Fig. 3). The dimensions of the product are chosen arbitrarily.

A cape is usually made for the headboard (Fig. 4). The raised element can be rigid, without finishing upholstery fabric. In this case, the cape serves not only as a design element, but also serves as a soft pad between the sleeper’s head and the bed frame.

If the headboard has soft upholstery, but the designer is not satisfied with its color; the cape helps hide this flaw. In this case, it is purely aesthetic in nature. A small removable part can also serve as protection for the headboard from dust and dirt.

You can cut out a cape for the headboard by measuring its length and width. Draw a rectangle so that the cape completely covers the front side of the headboard and can be folded onto the part facing the wall.

We bring the idea to life - we design the bedspread

To sew a bedspread of any model you need to prepare the following:

  • textile;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine;
  • measuring instruments, chalk or pencil.

Based on a simple rectangle, you can make amazingly beautiful bedspreads for any style bedroom. The only difference will be in the decor. One of the most simple options finishing - ruffles.

The photo on the left (Fig. 5) shows 2 color schemes of the same style. In the first case, the result was a bedspread with a bright rainbow spot in the foreground and complementary applique on the panel and pillows (above). This design is suitable for rustic styles, decorating a nursery, will be appropriate in a small bedroom if you choose a panel to match the decor and curtains.

The same bedspread, made in white (below), would fit perfectly into a Victorian bedroom, shabby chic style, or would look great in a Mediterranean or colonial setting. A spacious bedroom, where there is no need to hide the size of the bed, will only benefit from a snow-white structure in the center of the composition.

By placing the ruffles differently, you can get a product of a different style, as in the photo on the right. For all its simplicity and lack of elaborate details, a modest gray, beige or other plain bedspread is suitable for both a teenager’s room and a strict Victorian setting. If desired, you can change this design by making the sewn ruffles multi-colored or making them from dark and light stripes.

How to make a bedspread with ruffle trim?

Cut out a rectangle for the base and trim its edges into a hem. Prepare material for frills: cut multi-colored or plain scraps of fabric into strips. If the strips are short, they need to be sewn together until the strip reaches the required length.

Finish the edges of the tape with a zigzag stitch or overcast them. Install maximum length stitch, sew a straight stitch along the tape, along the center line or closer to one edge. Pull out one of the threads and gather the ribbon.

Mark the places where the ruffles will be sewn. If you choose the option of finishing one corner, then you will need to draw arcs on the panel, starting with the smallest one. The distance between the lines should be equal to the width of the ruffle ribbon or slightly less than it. Lay the gathered strip so that the stitching in the center runs along the intended line, pin together and sew on a machine.

For the option with stripes of folds, lines can be drawn across, along, or diagonally across the panel. In the future, proceed in the same way as in the first case. The distance between the marking lines must be chosen so that the free edge of the strip covers the sewing area of the previous tier.

How to sew a bedspread with a frill around the perimeter?

Prepare the central part: cut out a rectangle the size of the bed or a shaped part for a two-tier model. If required, mark decorative stitch lines and machine stitch the rectangle.

Cut out strips to create ruffles, hem the edges or use an overlock stitch. The stripes can be composite, as in the previous case. Depending on your personal desire, fold or gather folds along the upper edge of the frill strip.

Cut out the corner parts, bend them and, if necessary, trim them with ruffles, as indicated above. The corners of the bedspread for a double bed will look like in Fig. 6. Connect the frill stripes and corner elements. Fold the rectangular panel and the top edge of the tape right sides to each other, baste and stitch. The place where the frill is sewn can be additionally trimmed with decorative braid.

If you are planning a complex two-layer version, then the frill needs to be sewn from the inside out along the perimeter of the central part, leaving the overhangs free. The edges of the top layer can be tied together with bows, left loose, or attached to the bottom layer with decorative buttons. You can make the frill in the form of a valance, that is, do not sew it to the top layer, but secure it to the bed frame using Velcro or Velcro strips (Fig. 7).

Beautiful headboard cape

You can complement the stylish bedspread with capes. For the one shown in Fig. 8. The delicate floral detail required thick fabric for the base and thin transparent fabric for decoration.

Cut out a rectangle with a length equal to the width of the bed. Headboard height in in this case multiplied by 1.5 to be able to fold and secure the cape. You will need 2 of these parts - for the front part and the lining. You will need to cut 4 strips for ties, of arbitrary length and width. Sew along the perimeter of the base piece, while sewing in the ties: 2 in the corners on the back of the cape, 2 in the middle of the front (1/3 of the total width of the rectangle).

For finishing, mark out strips of flowers based on the location. Cut ribbons from organza equal in width to the distance between the decor. Gather both edges of each strip and sew onto the base, aligning the cuts with the marked lines.

Prepare braid or sew a narrow strip of organza. The decoration roses are made from a strip of the same fabric with an uneven edge, rolled into a roll. Sew each flower by hand to the prepared braid. Finished part sew along the edges so that it hides the place where the gathered organza strips are attached.

A beautiful designer item can appear in your bedroom interior if you spend a little time making it. The key to success will be accuracy and precision in performing all operations on cutting, assembling and finishing the bedspread.

Attention, TODAY only!

Only in a cozy and comfortable bedroom can you escape from the worries of the day, relax and fully restore your strength. Regardless of the chosen interior of the room, the sleeping bed is the main accent. A correctly selected bedspread for the bedroom will not only help protect the bed from dirt and dust, but will also emphasize the individual style of the room. Depending on the preferences of the owners, they choose products from synthetic or natural fabrics with intricate patterns or plain ones.

A bedspread in the bedroom can perform several functions:

  • On a made bed you can read, play, watch TV. Bed linen will remain clean and fresh;
  • Choosing bedspreads big size, you can disguise defects in the bed frame or its legs;
  • A product that harmonizes with curtains and carpet helps to create coziness and an atmosphere conducive to relaxation;

  • Beautiful products made using the patchwork technique, decorated with embroidery and appliqué, can become the main accent of the decor and emphasize the good taste of the owners.

According to their functional purpose, there are 2 types of products: for a children's room and an adult's bedroom. Children's bedspreads are made from natural fabrics or fabrics with a mixed composition that are pleasant to the touch: satin, cotton, fleece, microfiber. The products are made in bright colors with decorative elements.

Adult models are available in different styles and designs. Most expensive paintings, made of natural silk, brocade are intended for classic bedrooms, baroque, rococo, art deco interiors. Unusual fur blankets, artificial leather, microfibers with minimalist decor are used for modern bedrooms, loft and high-tech rooms.

Criterias of choice

When choosing suitable model bedspreads take into account not only it visual appeal and functionality, but also the combination of the product with the furnishings of the room and other textile accessories.

Based on the type of fabric texture, smooth and textured bedspreads are distinguished. Smooth satin or silk fabrics have a reflective effect that hides minor surface imperfections. Shiny fabrics are ideal for spacious rooms. Textured products are fashionable and create an atmosphere of elegant casualness.

Knitted wool or fur products are used in the cold season, light openwork bedspreads are popular in the summer. Knitted and fur bedspreads require careful care; a lot of dust accumulates inside them, which can cause allergic reactions.

  • The color of the bedspread for the bedroom is matched to the color of the curtains. This option is suitable for classic bedrooms, baroque, Scandinavian styles. The interior turns out to be harmonious, but somewhat boring. To diversify it, choose the same type of textile for curtains, pillows and bedspread frills. The main part that covers sleeping area, sewn from companion fabrics;
  • The product is chosen to match the color of the bedroom walls. This rule is most relevant for small rooms, in which monochrome decor allows you to visually increase the space. The bedspread does not have to be the same color as the walls; it is enough to use a single color scheme. For example, in beige bedroom A milky, light brown, light golden bedspread would be appropriate. It is recommended to decorate rooms with windows facing north warm colors. In a sunny room you can use cool tones;
  • An unusual bedspread is selected, which acts as the main color accent interior You can use a double-sided model, which has one side with a plain, calm color, the other bright or with an unusual texture. Products with complex patterns are more suitable for spacious spaces. bright rooms with plain walls.

The striped pattern is neutral and fits into almost any design. Some people prefer multi-layering, when a colored strip of runner is placed on top of a thin fabric with frills, several soft pillows. This option should be carefully thought out; choose the optimal cut to avoid overloading the decor.

Preparation method

Exclusive models of bedspreads are made by hand, such products have high cost. The design is selected according to individual sketches, the fabrics and yarns are natural and mixed. The following methods can be used for production:

  • Patchwork - a technique that allows you to create canvases sewn from multi-colored patches. Only new high-strength fabrics are suitable for use. Pieces of fabric are selected according to the pattern, forming an exclusive pattern. Such custom-made products are expensive. When using colorful bedspreads, the rest of the decor is made monochromatic so as not to overload the interior. Patchwork is popular in country, Provence, and shabby chic styles;
  • Sewn bedspreads are most often used for bedroom decor. They can be made from fabrics various types, colors, textures. Embroidered bedspreads are decorated with lace, ruffles, appliques, leather and fur inserts. You can choose the most suitable option for any interior;
  • Knitted items can decorate a child's or adult's bedroom. For knitting, knitting needles or a hook are used. Using combined techniques, you can create unique products. They will be easy to well preserved heat. You can knit from wool or acrylic threads to obtain a dense fabric. When choosing thin threads and openwork knitting, the bedspread will be delicate and airy;
  • Felted bedspreads are often used as a single blanket. They are very warm and light. Creating such products requires a lot of time and felting skills. Multi-colored wool fibers are used to create intricate designs that imitate watercolor painting. Price finished products high.

Sewn bedspreads are most in demand. Products are available in a variety of materials and wide range prices, therefore available to all consumers.

Material

In the manufacture of bedspreads, various fabrics are used, each with its own characteristics.

  • Faux or natural fur. Fur bedspreads for a bedroom bed look very unusual; photos of new products can be seen in catalogs famous manufacturers. Caring for the products is problematic - they can only be dry cleaned;
  • Wool fabrics and yarns are characterized by good hygroscopicity. Wool products are easy to wash and comfortable to use at any temperature;
  • Natural and artificial silk have a beautiful shine. The materials are pleasant to the touch and comfortable on the skin. hot weather. Moderate shine creates an atmosphere of luxury;
  • Jacquard is most popular in plain interiors. A jacquard product gives the room visual depth and volume. The composition of the fabric is mixed, viscose fibers are combined with natural cotton. The fabrics have a high density, but allow air to pass through well. Thanks to the unusual weaving of threads, a jacquard bedspread lasts a long time, holds its shape well, and does not fade;
  • Bamboo fabrics are low cost, easy to care for and highly durable. Bamboo fibers are soft and delicate and have an antibacterial effect. The canvas allows air and moisture to pass through well and weighs little. Such products can be used instead of blankets in the summer. Bamboo fabrics are suitable for allergy sufferers, children, and people with respiratory diseases. Bamboo products should be washed in warm water;
  • Tapestry fabrics differ in density. A variety of patterns are obtained by cross-weaving threads from cotton, acrylic, and polyester. The canvases are heavy and hold their shape well. Products with exclusive designer patterns have a high cost;
  • Velvet, velor is suitable for Baroque, Rococo, Art Nouveau interiors. Heavy velvet bedspreads look elegant and noble. Soft fabrics with small fluffy pile are undemanding in care, have high strength and wear resistance. The fabric does not require ironing.

Size

Before choosing a bedspread, you need to measure the dimensions of the mattress and bed base. Traditionally, the bedspread was chosen to be about 60-70 cm larger than the width of the mattress. When unfolded, it covered the legs almost entirely. Modern design interior design suggests using thin bedspreads that cover only the mattress and are tucked under it. The canvas should have a width of 40-50 cm greater than the width of the mattress. The standard bedspread size for a double bed is 240x280 cm; with a mattress width of 160 cm, there will be an allowance of 40 cm on each side.

For double beds, thick, heavy bedspreads are preferable; single beds are covered with small, light bedspreads.

The table shows the most popular bedspread sizes.

Owners of beds of non-standard sizes often find it difficult to choose a suitable option. This applies to round and corner beds, models with large complex catwalks. In this case, the bedspread is sewn to order from the most suitable material.

Finishing and decor

There are many options for finishing bedspreads. The most popular is to add decorative pillows to the bedspread and to add ruffles along the edges of the mattress. These kits are suitable for classic interior, Provence, Rococo. Beautiful ruffles are made from soft flowing materials: silk, velvet, satin. Moderate shine will highlight the beauty of the set. Small pillows can be made from the same fabric or from a companion fabric that matches the curtains. For romantic interiors, bedspreads made of light fabrics, decorated with lace inserts, frills of satin ribbons, and bows are optimal.

If used in the interior Decoration Materials without drawings, then on the bed you can put a bedspread made using the patchwork technique, decorated with appliqué, painting or a bright product made of tapestry fabric. A minimalist bedroom is decorated with a canvas that is black, dark gray or steel in color. The preferred fabrics are satin, thick silk, faux fur or a combination of cotton and leather. Such products are decorated with metal rivets, graphic stitching or stitching.

Fashionable prints for different styles

Different bedroom designs require appropriate textile accessories:

  • For classic bedrooms, sets of bedspreads and curtains in plain colors are relevant. Most often, beige-brown products are chosen, which are suitable for any wall color and create a cozy atmosphere;
  • The Rococo interior allows the use of luxurious satin or silk bedspreads with canopies. The production uses plain fabrics with glitter, decorated floral patterns or with large drawing on the topic of mythology;
  • The bed in an Art Deco or Baroque bedroom is decorated with a tapestry, velvet or satin bedspread. The products are generously decorated with lace, fringe, and decorative lacing. The color of the canvases can be rich blue, burgundy, gold, brown, plain or with a small pattern in the form of monograms and floral motifs;
  • For minimalist interiors, the most suitable are textured products with simple graphic prints and color combinations;
  • A Provence or shabby chic bedroom is decorated in light colors. The most suitable bedspread would be a canvas with floral patterns made in cream, light pink tones;
  • In ethnic and country interiors, bright patchwork fabrics are used. A bedspread imitating animal skin can become the main accent of the decor. A modern product can use a combination of natural and artificial fur, leather, and textiles.

A universal bedspread is considered to be a white product, beige colour, made of smooth or low-texture cotton fabric. It fits into any interior, easily combined with colored pillows, curtains, and other bright accessories.

A properly selected bedspread helps to decorate the bed in the bedroom and also protect the bed linen from dirt. Its size must exceed the dimensions of the mattress. Availability of products made from natural and artificial materials, made in different styles, allows you to choose best option for every interior.

The most important thing in bed is comfort. But also appearance is of considerable importance, because it is the bed that sets the tone for the bedroom and shapes its image. Size, height and even material do not play a leading role. The appearance of the bed depends, first of all, on the design of the headboard and the decoration of the bed.

With the help of textiles and decor, you can make even the most modest bed luxurious. This transformation will transform the entire interior as a whole.

Most often, the bed is covered with a light, elegant blanket or blanket. The bedspread performs several functions. Firstly, it decorates the bed. Secondly, it gives it a neater look. Thirdly, it protects the bed from contamination. In addition, the bedspread can play a fourth role - connecting the bed with other components of the interior, making it holistic.

In order for the bedspread to successfully cope with its functions, it is necessary to choose it correctly. In this article we will not talk about materials, sizes and design, but will pay attention to color. What should you choose a bedspread for? What should it rhyme with?

What type of bedspread is chosen?

Of course, there are no rules in this regard. There are no strict canons that require choosing a bedspread strictly for one or another element of the interior. For a long time it was believed that the decoration of the bed must necessarily rhyme with the design of the window. But this, firstly, is the wrong approach (no one owes anyone anything in the interior). Secondly, today this combination is used quite rarely.

There are several common schemes. You can choose any of them - the one you like, or the one that suits a particular interior more than others. So what are these schemes?

1. Match the color of the walls

Usually the bedspread matches the color of the wall at the headboard. However, other walls of the room can also be supported with a blanket.

Design: Marina Grigoryan

Design: studio "Odnushechka"

If the bedspread is matched to the color of the wall behind the bed, it is advisable that the headboard contrasts with them.

If multi-color wallpaper was used for decoration, you can choose a bedspread in one of the colors present on the walls. This is called “pulling color” from a pattern, design, or ornament. This solution is subtle and elegant.

Design: Lyudmila Krishtaleva

2. In the color of the bed/headboard

Textiles can be used to support the color of the bed frame and headboard. This will turn it into a single spot of color without additional nuances.

Design: Yulia Likhova design studio

It must be borne in mind that a bed with such a design will seem somewhat wider and bulkier than it actually is. If the bedroom is small and the bed is large, perhaps you should choose a bedspread of a different color.

Design: Veronika Sudnikova

3. Match the color of the curtains

We have already mentioned that combinations of this kind are not very popular today. Single-color and uniform textiles can make a room look formal and boring. Such bedrooms often resemble a hotel room, which deprives them of a significant share of comfort. In home interiors, designers try to create variety by mixing colors, shades, textures and patterns.

Of course, this does not mean that you cannot match a bedspread to curtains (or curtains to match a bedspread). Of course you can. There are no “don’ts” in interior design. Anything is possible, but with caution.

This scheme has not only disadvantages, but also advantages. 1. If the window is located far from the bed, a single color of textiles unites different parts of the room, preventing it from being visually fragmented. 2. Matching curtains and bedspreads give a more traditional look. Therefore this color plan can be recommended for interiors in rustic, vintage,...

When choosing a bedspread to match the color of the curtains, do not try to exactly repeat the shade, texture, or pattern. In general, it is not very desirable for the curtains and bedspread to be made from the same fabric - it looks too vintage. And sometimes it’s ridiculous: it’s as if they covered the bed with a curtain or covered the windows with a blanket.

Design: Line Design studio

Design: Alexander Poberezhny studio

Textile elements made from different but similar fabrics create a much more interesting and elegant ensemble. Materials can be the same color, but with different shades, surfaces, patterns, etc.

Another opportunity to connect the window and the bed is to lay a bedspread or hang curtains with a colored edging (or with a colored insert). For example, the base of the bedspread is neutral, and the edging is colored to match the curtains.

4. Under other colored decorative items and decorations

The bedspread can rhyme in color with a lamp, rug, pouf, armchair, etc. Moreover, the color can be either neutral or accent (the bedspread in this case becomes the dominant accent, since it occupies a large area).

5. No matter what

Yes, this is also possible. There are two ways here.

  • Buy a universal blanket in a neutral color (white, cream, beige). This bed design will suit almost any interior, regardless of its style and palette.

Design: ChDecoration

Design: Alena Chmeleva

  • Decorate the bed with a bright bedspread, turning the bed into a dominant color. This technique is used when arranging discreet, colorless interiors. If the accent element is large enough, it does not require a “support group” - there is no need to supplement the bedspread with decorative trifles of the same color.

Stylish bedspread for the bedroom

By what criteria are bedspreads selected?

To choose the right stylish bedspread for your own bedroom, take into account the following criteria:

Of course, only knowledge of these criteria will not help you in your choice. The main aspects should be considered in more detail.

How to choose the right color and what should it go with?

There are several basic concepts for choosing the color scheme of a bedspread for a bedroom:

Style matching rules

The bedroom can be romantic or classically restrained, minimalistic or pretentiously luxurious. Each of these styles has its own bedspread models:

  • For classical In the bedroom, a laconic set of curtains, bedspreads and sometimes - is selected, in this case the room is guaranteed elegant beauty. Such sets are made from plain fabrics or fabrics that are similar in texture and with the same pattern;
  • for a room in style baroque or Art Deco where excess and luxury dominate, appropriate materials and methods of decoration should be selected: fabrics with a rich, heavy texture (a classic example is velvet or fur), rich precious shades, luxurious lace, rich draperies, cords and fringe;
  • minimalism in the bedroom it requires appropriate textile design - the bedspread here should have a pronounced texture, but without complex color combinations, or be decorated with a simple geometric pattern;
  • quilted and patchwork bedspreads fit perfectly into village styles;
  • subject matter Provence And shabby chic can be delightfully accentuated with floral motifs on bedspreads. The most delicate cream colors would also be appropriate here;
  • Romanticism and Art Nouveau welcome satin, frills and ruffles;
  • ethnic styles are imitations of the colors of animal skins (jaguar, giraffe, zebra).
  • Oriental style bedspread

    If you are decorating a modern bedroom without a clearly defined style, then choose a bedspread of a universal neutral color - beige, cream, white tones. But you can go the other way, highlighting the bedspread, using it to create a bright accent - this could be bright red textiles in a monochrome beige room.

    Choosing the right size

    The size of the bedspread is no less important than the color. There is a simple rule here: it is better if the bedspread hangs over the bed, covering not only the bed linen, but also the mattress and bed frame. The thickness of the blanket, mattress, height of furniture legs - all this is taken into account. To correctly calculate the dimensions of the textile drapery, the 2 heights of the bed are added to its width and length.

    All parameters are measured very carefully - after all, it is important that the bedspread looks on your cozy bed, like a luxurious tablecloth on festive table, and not like an awkward napkin. But the bedspread should not hang on the floor - this will also look ridiculous. Fortunately, there are standard sizes - for single, one-and-a-half and double beds.

    Calculation example. The standard size of a double bed is 160 by 200 cm. The optimal allowance will be 40 cm on each side. The size of the bedspread is 240 by 280 cm.
