jockey pump
The jockey pump is designed to maintain water pressure in sprinkler fire extinguishing systems. From design experience, it is recommended to take the parameters of the jockey pump according to the following dependencies:
Q jockey \u003d 2-3 m 3 / hour, if Q fire. pump<= 100 м 3 /ч
Q jockey \u003d 3-4 m 3 / hour, if Q fire. pump >= 100 m 3 / h.
The pressure of the jockey pump must exceed the pressure of the fire pump at the operating point by 10%, but not less than 5 m.w.s. However, depending on specific project requirements, it may be necessary to install a jockey pump that provides other parameters.
The choice of jockey pump parameters should be made by the person designing the fire suppression system.
It can be used as a jockey pump with Hydro MX units.
CR pumps as a jockey pump
CR pumps are ideal for use as jockey pumps with the following benefits:
- develop high pressure at relatively low feeds; - allow frequent switching on and off (100-200 times per hour, depending on engine power); - take up little space vertical design; - have easily replaceable cartridge face seals.
The jockey pump is powered by. Signals from the pressure switch are also sent to the control cabinet.
The jockey pump is on signal is sent to the remote control panel.
The Control MX cabinet as standard allows you to connect a jockey pump with a motor up to 5.5 kW (inclusive), 3x380-415V, 50Hz.
Drainage pump
As standard, Hydro MX units allow you to control a drain pump.
The drain pump is usually installed in the pumping station room and is designed to remove water collected in the pit after the fire extinguishing system has been emptied.
Can be used as a drain pump Grundfos pumps series , , , , , with three-phase and single-phase electric motors up to 4 kW inclusive. On request, you can install a starter, designed for a more powerful pump.
It is allowed to use a drainage pump with a built-in level switch (floater) or with an external level switch. In the second case, the level switch is connected to the corresponding terminal in the Control MX PPU.
Gate valves with electric drive
Optionally, Hydro MX units allow you to control one electric valve in the basic version and up to 4 electric valves using the Control VLV module.
The Hydro MX 2/1 CR 15-10 installation is most often used to solve the problems of water or foam fire extinguishing. Each of the two pumps is included in the "star-delta" scheme. The installation meets all modern requirements and is capable of operating both in the "sprinkler" mode (the fire pipeline in standby mode is always under a given pressure created by the jockey pump), and in the "drencher" mode (the fire pipeline in standby mode is not filled). The role of a jockey pump can be taken over by a pump or a small pressure booster with membrane tank. By default, for each installation, a drain pump is allowed, which must be purchased separately.
The only liquids to be pumped are clean water(not containing in its composition any substances that can have a chemical or mechanical effect on the flow part of the pump).
The type designation for Grundfos MX 1/1 CR X-Y equipment is deciphered, as MX - fire extinguishing installation, 1/1 - one working pump, one in reserve, CR X-Y - brand of pumps used.
This equipment came to replace the installation - Hydro MX 2/1 CR 15-10 with indexes S001 and D001.
Connection: 2 inputs of 3x380-410V / 50 Hz;
Degree of protection of a case of automatic equipment: IP54.
The Hydro MX 1/1 CR 10-3 installation is most often used to solve the problems of water or foam fire extinguishing. Each of the two pumps is connected to the relay network. The unit meets all modern requirements and is capable of operating both in the "sprinkler" mode (the fire pipeline in standby mode is always under a certain pressure created by the jockey pump), and in the "drencher" mode (the fire pipeline in standby mode is not filled). The jockey pump can be a CR 1-6 (CR 3-7) or a small pressure booster with a diaphragm tank. In the basic delivery set, for each installation it is allowed to connect a drainage pump, which must be purchased separately.
Only pure water (which does not contain any substances that can have a chemical or mechanical effect on the flow part of the pump) can be attributed to the pumped liquids.

Description of Hydro MX pumping units
The wide application that the fire pump has found Grundfos station Hydro MX d001 convinces: it is a reliable and functional device. In a situation where every minute counts, the fire station must start up instantly and work powerfully. These properties fully characterize this Grundfos jockey pump.
The Hydro MX fire extinguishing system is certified in Russian Federation. So this station fire alarm will become an indisputable plus in assessing the fire safety of premises and entire buildings.
Compact fire extinguishing systems
Automatic fire extinguishing installations must have a universal set of characteristics: easy commissioning, efficiency in fighting flames, and the possibility of long-term non-stop operation. To effectively eliminate the source of fire, the installation of a fire extinguishing system must be thought out to the smallest detail.
To date, installations of powder, foam and water fire extinguishing are known. What distinguishes them is the composition of the substance acting on the flame. Each such unit is effective in its own way, having individual advantages.
So, water fire extinguishing installations in extreme conditions become a real lifeline. Made of special water-storing materials, they are ready to deliver powerful pressure at any time. chemical reactions from contact with the liquid are completely excluded even when high temperatures. Standalone installations water fire extinguishers do not require expensive maintenance - water is a cheap filler.
Selection principle a large number steam use water mist fire extinguishing installations - no less powerful, capable of adsorbing soot and carbon monoxide. The principle of spraying water over a wide area is also used by sprinkler fire extinguishing installations. They are a network of branched pipelines integrated into the ceiling and triggered by a danger signal. By the same principle, deluge fire extinguishing installations operate.
Foam, powder and aerosol fire fighting
In industrial buildings, foam fire extinguishing installations are most effective. Foam, spraying, "takes" oxygen from burning objects and thus reduces the combustion process to nothing. In addition, by distributing the foam composition, an automatic foam fire extinguishing installation stops the release of fumes that are dangerous in terms of ignition. So modular fire extinguishing installations with water mist eliminate the source of fire and prevent the formation of a new one.
Stationary fire extinguishers are adapted to extinguish electrical equipment. automatic settings powder fire extinguishing. Served under high pressure, the powder extinguishes the flame without affecting the burning equipment and household items. Autonomous fire extinguishing installations operating with powder filler are widely used in administrative buildings and production shops.
Fire pumping units can also use the principle of aerosol spraying - a fire extinguishing composition that is harmless to people and environment. Aerosol fire extinguishing pumping units have also shown themselves with better side when processing burning electrical equipment, including those under high voltage.
Fire installation selection options
The fire pump control station is a device on which, no less, the safety of people, the safety of property, equipment, and products of production depend. Centrifugal fire pumps must be certified equipment. Fire pumps should be controlled in a simple and efficient way. To do this, the kit includes a cabinet (board) for controlling fire pumps, shut-off and control valves, and control devices.
The installation of increasing the pressure for fire extinguishing is also important - it is she who will maintain the water pressure at the optimum level. The Grundfos fire booster pumps, which have been tested and certified in the Russian Federation, have proven themselves well.
When choosing automatic fixed fire extinguishing installations or modular fire extinguishing installations, it is necessary to take into account: the units must not only effectively extinguish the flame. The device must be adapted to a long "idle", but immediately start working in a situation of need.
