All about the Easter service. How is the Easter service going?

If Catholics celebrate Christmas on a grand scale, then for our believing compatriots the main holiday of the year is Easter. On this day, good defeated evil, and life was able to prevail over death. Rituals performed on the night of Easter have enormous power, because... many call it almost magical.

Rituals on Easter night

Ancient customs associated with Easter night

Our ancestors loved and revered this holiday very much. On Easter night one could witness a real miracle. Let us remember the signs and rituals that were once common:

  1. Meeting the sun Many people know that on Easter the sun can play. In the old days, people did not sleep on Easter night, but greeted the sun at dawn. If it appeared in a clear sky and began to flutter, it was considered good sign. Then the year should have been fruitful, joyful, with a huge number of weddings. If the sun is covered by clouds or does not want to “play,” then many will be haunted by failures, and there is no need to expect a rich harvest.
  2. Washing and combing your hair at dawn Just like now, women used to want to be young and beautiful. Therefore, as soon as it ended Easter night, women washed themselves with special water. They said that these rituals help to become wealthy and young. While the old men combed their hair, repeating:

“As many hairs as there are in your head, there will be as many grandchildren.”

  3. Professional rituals On the Bright Night, fishermen could ensure a good catch. To do this, when the priest repeats the words “Christ is Risen!”, one had to quietly say:

    “And I have fish!”

  4. Meeting with the souls of the dead It was believed that in Christ's Sunday the heavens open, so anyone who dies on Easter immediately goes to heaven. Also on Easter night, the souls of the dead descend to earth. There was an interesting belief. When during procession everyone leaves the church, dead Christians gather in it. If at this time you take a passionate candle and hide behind the altar, you can see how they pray and begin to make Christ among themselves.
  5. Evil spirits Evil spirits lost their power on Easter night. The devils found themselves walled up in the walls and tried to escape from there. The peasants were sure that on Easter night they could easily be heard. And if you take with you the candle with which you celebrated the Easter service, you will see it.
  6. How to recognize a sorcerer Nowadays, hereditary witches and sorcerers are trying to tell everyone about their unusual abilities. Previously, they carefully hid their activities. However, it was on Easter night that rituals could be performed that would help bring sorcerers and witches to light. You can go to church wearing only new clothes. During Matins you need to turn back. Then all those who are interested in witchcraft will stand with their backs to the icons. If at Matins someone’s candles do not want to burn and go out all the time, this is a sign of the person’s involvement in magic. You need to take the egg that the young chicken laid for the first time. We need to cover it with red paint. Together with the others, it is worth going through the religious procession and, having heard “Christ is Risen” from the priest for the first time, you need to look through him at the people. Then it will immediately be clear who the sorcerer is by the horns that appear or by the way they stand (with their backs to the icons).

Rituals and conspiracies that can be performed on Easter night

Special rituals performed on Easter night can give health, wealth, bewitch a loved one, and make the boss at work more lenient. Not all rituals are carried out at night, but the necessary attributes for them are prepared at this time. Therefore, it is worth getting acquainted with the conspiracies in advance so that everything is at hand by the appointed day.

Rituals for health

There is nothing more important than health, which is why so often rituals are performed precisely to bring it back.

On Easter night you need to visit the church and bless the candles. On Sunday, as soon as the first bell rings, you need to raise the candle, already lit, and say the words of the conspiracy. If you want to help a sick person living in your house, you need to say his name instead of the word “I”.

“Christ has risen, so may I also become healthy, freed from all illnesses.”

Sometimes it seems to us that rituals can only help more or less healthy people who are suddenly knocked down by a severe illness. However, this conspiracy can help restore health to an elderly person; it can put him back on his feet.

For it you need thin, parchment-like birch bark. It needs to be dialed, precisely on Easter night, at three o’clock, brewed, chanting the miraculous words:

“Just as on Easter Sunday, on Easter, Jesus Christ rose from the dead, so the servant of God (name) is given deliverance and healing. Amen".

After this, the infusion should be given to the patient. Before he drinks a few sips, you need to throw three pinches of salt, three pinches of wood salt and three pinches of eggshells(take crushed eggs from eggs boiled on Easter). Add all this every time you give a healing infusion to a patient.

Ritual against drunkenness and drug addiction

Many families have to deal with problems such as alcoholism or drug addiction. It is very difficult to cure these diseases, but rituals can be performed that will help get rid of addiction. Let's talk about one of them.

You need to take the Easter cake and bless it on Easter night. Then choose one of the days of the week and, cutting the Easter cake into 12 pieces, go with them to the cemetery. There you need to find 12 graves in which people with the same name as the person suffering from addiction are buried. You need to put a piece of Easter cake on each of the graves, saying the words of the spell:

“You don’t drink, and don’t let him (say the person’s name) either.”

It is impossible to talk about the fact that you performed such rituals.

Wealth plot

Wealth rituals have always been popular, because living in abundance is the dream of many. Similar rituals can be performed on Easter night. To do this, they cast a spell on water, which they then use to wash themselves for the entire week after Easter. These rituals will bring wealth and prosperity, there will be a lot of money until the next holiday.

Before Easter, you need to pour water into a container with a large neck. A salad bowl made of glass or crystal is suitable. We must take it to the icons and keep it there all night.

After this you can go to church. There you need to purchase the largest candle and attend the procession with it. It is not recommended to throw away the candle stub; you need to take it home.

When you come to your place, you can’t talk to anyone, and you can’t eat. You need to immediately go to the water and say (you can sing these words if you wish):

“Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death! And giving life to those in the tombs! Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death! And giving life to those in the tombs! Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death! And giving life to those in the tombs! O Most Sacred and Greatest Light Christ, Who shone forth more than the sun throughout the whole world in Your Resurrection! On this bright and glorious and saving day of Holy Pascha, all the angels in heaven rejoice and every creature rejoices and rejoices on earth and every breath glorifies Thee, its Creator. Today the gates of heaven have been opened, and the dead have been freed into hell by Your descent. Now everything is filled with light, the heavens are the earth and the underworld. May Your light come into our dark souls and hearts and may it enlighten our present night of sin, and may we also shine with the light of truth and purity in the bright days of Your Resurrection, like a new creation about You. And thus, enlightened by You, we will go forth in luminosity at the meeting of You, who comes to You from the tomb, like the Bridegroom. And as Thou didst rejoice on this bright day by Thy appearance of the holy virgins who came from the world to Thy grave in the morning, so now enlighten the deep night of our passions and dawn upon us the morning of passionlessness and purity, so that we may see Thee with our hearts, redder than the sun of our Bridegroom, and may we hear once again Your longed-for voice: Rejoice! And having thus tasted the Divine joys of the Holy Pascha while still here on earth, may we be partakers of Your eternal and great Pascha in heaven in the unevening days of Your Kingdom, where there will be unspeakable joy and those celebrating the unceasing voice and ineffable sweetness of those who behold Your ineffable kindness. For You are the True Light, enlightening and illuminating all things, Christ our God, and glory befits You forever and ever. Amen".

After this, the words of the conspiracy are read:

“On the bright Sunday of Christ, victory of death, triumph of life, I conjure you, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Most Pure Mother, and all saints. Amen. Mother Water, God's Helper, forgive us, help us. There is no number of your drops, waves, there are many of you in the sea and in the river, in the stream, in the ocean, in the well, in the spring. You flow without knowing rest, without interruption, without respite, without edge or end, outside of time and outside of the day. You flow day and night, and on Monday, and Tuesday, and Wednesday, and on Thursday, and on Friday, and on Saturday, and on the bright Sunday of Christ. On the bright Sunday of Christ I will bow down, I will pray to Christ’s Easter: On this bright and glorious and saving day of Holy Easter, all the angels in heaven rejoice and every creature rejoices and rejoices on earth and every breath glorifies Thee, its Creator. Like a river flows, so money would flow to me, without knowing a break, without a break, without respite, without edge or end, outside of time and outside of the day, it would flow to me day and night, and on Monday, and Tuesday, and on Wednesday, and on Thursday, and on Friday, and on Saturday, and on the bright Sunday of Christ. I close with an amen, I wrap with an amen, I secure with an amen. Amen. Amen. Amen".

How to get silent water

It is on the night before Easter that special “silent” water can be obtained for the family. To do this, you need to go to the nearest spring on Easter night and, having collected water, bring it home without uttering a single word. It was believed that it would bring prosperity to the house if it was sprinkled on a barn or house. Silent water also helped restore health. For this purpose they washed her face.

Conspiracy of Invulnerability

Sometimes a person's profession can be life-threatening. We know that firefighters, police officers, and electricians take risks every day. But there are rituals that can prevent danger, rituals of invulnerability. It is on the night before Easter that they have greatest strength. After reading it, you don’t have to worry for a year, because all troubles and problems will pass by, and you shouldn’t be afraid of injuries and wounds.

“Bless me, my guardian angel, my deeds, my words, my body. My Mother of God (name) blesses me, A Guardian angel Protects me from troubles and misfortunes, covers me with his wing. Mind you, wounds are not for the body, mind you, danger is not for my deeds, blood is not for the flesh, tears are not for my eyes. The belt of the Virgin Mary is on me (name), the Blessing of Jesus Christ is on me (name). Guardian angel behind me. My words be strong, my deeds be sculpted. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen. Amen. Amen".

Love spell

Not only money and health, but also love is needed for complete happiness. To rekindle the feelings of a loved one or to return passion to an existing relationship, on Easter night you need to pronounce the words of the conspiracy. Should be in your hands church candle. You need to light it and say, looking at the flame:

“Fire of the sacred candle, light and disintegrate the Heart, body, soul and blood of the Servant of God (name) into eternal love for me, God’s servant (name). Turn him around, drive him from his place to me, God’s servant (name), send him. So that he could have no peace either day or night. I repeated my name in my mind, I always kept my image in my head. I didn’t know any other joy in life. He drank without me and didn’t sing, He ate and didn’t get enough. He suffered without me, suffered, and called me his desired wife. I'm food for him. I give him water. I am the air. I am the sun. Key. Lock. Language. Amen. Amen. Amen".

A conspiracy to appease the authorities

When choosing a job, we care not only about salary, but also pay attention to the team and management. No amount of money is worth the stress that you will have to endure if the relationship does not work out. However, before looking for a new place, you can try to read the plot so that your bosses are not angry with you. The night before Easter you need to cook jellied meat. In the morning you need to put it on your plate and say the words of the conspiracy:

“How this jellied meat shakes, So that the servant of God (name) would shake and flutter, Would not eat at me, the servant of God (name), Would look affectionately, Care about my benefit Now and forever and endlessly. Key, lock, tongue. Amen. Amen. Amen".

Black magic conspiracy to kill a person

Using black magic is a great sin, but this does not stop everyone. If you want to destroy your enemy, you can perform this ritual. It is important to do this on Easter, that is, on the night from Saturday to Sunday or on the magical Sunday itself. But during the day it will be difficult to do this, because there will be many people who will watch you. At night it's a different matter. When everyone goes to the procession, the whole church is at your disposal. It is important to do this on Easter; the ritual cannot be performed at any other time.

Thanks to this ritual, the victim will not only die, but will suffer. It is necessary to take the thinnest candle in church and break it 13 times. When doing this, you need to say quietly, but not whisper:

“Wither, wither, die.”

After this, the candle needs to be lit on both sides and rolled into a ring. At this point the wicks will go out. You must say:

“I close the life of slave (name).”

Then this candle needs to be thrown away under the funeral table. When leaving, you can't look back. As a payoff, put vodka and coins at the intersection.

The festive Easter service may vary, just as services on ordinary days begin at their own time in each. But it differs from everyday worship in its special festivity. There are so many Christian holidays, but the most sublime and joyful is Easter.
The service begins around 11 pm. Its main part is preceded by the Midnight Office. Priests, Apostolic Acts and the Canon of Holy Saturday. At this time, the shroud, which was carried to the middle of the temple on the eve of the holiday, is carried away until the Ascension.

If you want to go to the temple for Easter service, it is better to come early. At night on Easter, a lot of people come to church: not only deeply believers, but also those who simply want to watch. If you are late, you may not get inside the temple at all.

Soon the most impressive part of the service begins - the procession. The parishioners slowly leave the temple and, following the priests carrying banners, walk around three times. The clergy read prayers and sing troparia. The main holiday troparion is sung three times: “Christ rose from the dead, trampling down death by death and giving life to those in the tombs.”
At night, you can bless the food you brought with you. It is customary for Christians to bless colored eggs and Easter cakes. Some people also bring food that will be on the Easter table. Just don't bring alcohol! The Church does not welcome this.

Continuation of the Easter service

After the Midnight Office, the holiday continues with Matins. The culmination of the Easter service is the celebration of Christ. All clergy and parishioners congratulate each other on the Resurrection of Christ with Easter greetings. People say "Christ!" and answer “Truly he is risen!” After this, they kiss three times and exchange consecrated eggs. After this part of the festive service, many leave the temple, especially since the celebration of Christ takes place around one in the morning. But the majority of parishioners still remain, as a festive liturgy is taking place with the communion of the Blood and Flesh of Christ. Receiving Communion on Easter is considered a special grace. Therefore, no one wants to miss such a chance. Depending on how many want to receive communion, the Easter service will last for so long. As a result, it can go until the morning.

The celebration of Easter for all Orthodox people is the brightest and most important event of the year. They always prepare for it in advance, bringing cleanliness and order not only to their homes, but also to their souls. In addition, people believe in the signs of Easter night and observe the customs associated with this great church holiday. On the eve of Easter night, any work is prohibited, except for preparing Easter cakes and painting eggs. People on this day usually pray in anticipation of Christ's Resurrection.

Signs and customs on the night before Easter

On the night before Easter, there are signs and customs that will bring peace and tranquility to your home. So, for example, you cannot perform any work: washing and ironing clothes, cleaning, and handicrafts are also prohibited. Celebrating an event is also considered bad omen on the eve of Easter.

Another unfavorable omen is to swear or quarrel on the eve of the Easter holiday. Another belief says that if the Saturday before Easter is sunny, then the summer will be warm. And if the weather is cloudy, summer will be cold and rainy.

On Holy Saturday you can eat only vegetables, fruits and... A strict diet on this day is replaced by an abundant breaking of the fast on Easter night. As a rule, on Saturday, Easter products are illuminated: Easter cakes, eggs, sweets.

What should you not do on Easter night?

The question of what not to do on the night before Easter worries many believers. This partly happens because over time, people tend to forget their original traditions. But on Easter night I want to do everything according to the rules or something, so that You can become closer to Jesus on this holy holiday.

So, you cannot throw the shell of a peeled, colored egg out the window onto the street. It is believed that Christ and the apostles walk the streets and you can accidentally get into him. You cannot visit or speak with the departed on the night of Easter. For this purpose, there is a day called Krasnaya Gorka, a week after Easter.

There are signs for girls: if you get your period on Easter night, then it is not recommended to enter the temple. You can ask someone to come in and light a candle for you, or just stand outside the temple itself. As a rule, the lighting of Easter products does not take place in the church itself, but on the street. You can also stay here on critical days.

For more than thirty years - from March 1953 almost until his death in December 1983 - my father appeared weekly on Radio Liberty. His conversations were devoted to the most important, central Christian faith- the relationship between God and man, the world and the Church, faith and culture, freedom and responsibility.

On Easter night, when the procession of the cross, having gone around the church, stops at its locked doors and the last minute comes before the explosion of Easter joy, in the depths of our hearts we ask ourselves the same question that was in the hearts of the women who came early in the morning, as soon as the sun rose () , to the tomb of Christ. This question is: Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us? (). Will this miracle happen, will the night once again become brighter than the day, will this inexplicable joy, independent of anything in the world, fill us once again, which all this night and so many more days will sound like an Easter greeting: “Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!”

This minute always comes. The doors open. We enter the church flooded with light, we enter the jubilant Easter Matins, but somewhere in our souls the question remains. What does all of this mean? What does it mean to celebrate Easter in a world filled with suffering, enmity, hatred, wars? What does it mean to sing “trampling death upon death” and to hear that “not one dead man is in the grave,” when death still remains the only earthly certainty? Is it really Easter, all this bright night, all the rejoicing - just a momentary escape from reality, only for short time the possibility of spiritual oblivion granted to us, followed by the same everyday life, the same gray reality, the same count of inexorably passing days, months, years, the same race towards death and oblivion?

After all, we have long been told that religion is a fiction, self-deception, opium that reconciles a person with his difficult fate, a mirage that is constantly dissipating. And isn’t it more worthy for a person to abandon this mirage and soberly face reality?

What can I say to this? Perhaps something like this: “This can’t all be just fiction! It is incredible that so much faith, so much joy, so much light for two thousand years was just opium, an escape from reality, a mirage! Can a mirage last for centuries?

This answer, of course, is weighty, but still not final. And it must be said frankly that there is no such final and comprehensive answer as could be printed in the form “ scientific explanation"Easter faith - there is no such answer. Here everyone can only testify to own experience, speak only for yourself. But, peering into this experience, when you suddenly find in it something on which everything else is based - something that illuminates everything with a dazzling light, in which, indeed, like wax from the face of fire (), all doubts, all questions melt away .

What kind of experience is this? I cannot describe it otherwise, or define it otherwise, as the experience of the living Christ. It’s not because I believe in Christ that since childhood I was given the opportunity to participate in the Easter celebration once a year, no! But that’s why Easter is possible, that’s why this single night is filled with light and joy, that’s why this greeting “Christ is Risen!” sounds with such victorious power. Truly He is Risen!” that my faith itself was born and is eternally born from the experience of the living Christ. How and when was she born? I don't know, I don't remember. I only know that every time I open the Gospel and read the words of Christ, I mentally, but with all my heart, with all my being, repeat what the servants of the Pharisees said, who were sent to arrest Him and did not do so: Never has a man spoken like this Human ().

So, the first thing I know is that the teachings of Christ are alive and there is nothing in the world comparable to it. But this teaching is about Him, about eternal life, about victory over death, about love that conquers and overcomes death. And I also know that in life, where everything seems so difficult, one thing will never change, will never fail - the inner conviction that Christ is with me. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you (), - He says and comes, and the heart knows this coming. In prayer - in this trembling of the soul, in its undoubted joy about the mysterious presence of Christ both in the temple and in my life - this experience, this knowledge, this evidence grows all the time: Christ is here. In joy and sorrow, in crowds and loneliness, this certainty of His presence, this power of His word, this joy of faith in Him is the only proof. “Why are you looking for Zhivago and the dead? Why are you crying into the aphids?” And therefore all of Christianity is nothing more than a new experience of this faith, its embodiment in words, sounds, colors.

To an unbeliever, all this may indeed seem like a mirage. He hears only words, sees only “incomprehensible ceremonies” and tries to explain them from the outside. But for believers they shine from within - not as proof, but as the fruit of their faith and its life in the soul, in the world, in history. Easter is not a memory of an event from the distant past, but a real meeting in happiness and joy with the One in Whom our heart has recognized and always recognizes, has met and always meets the Life of all life, the Light of all light. The entire Easter night is evidence that Christ is alive and abiding with us, that we are alive and abiding with Him. All of it is a call to see, experience, accept the “dawn of the mysterious day,” the Kingdom of love and light. “Today spring is fragrant and the new creation rejoices...” sings the Church, rejoicing in faith, hope and love.

Christ is Risen!

The most difficult thing on the day before Easter is to keep your soul trembling and calm. The bustle at the blessing of Easter cakes and colored eggs, cleaning the apartment and preparing a festive meal. In the evening you just want to sit down at the table and celebrate. Therefore, the Charter suggests spending this day in church and listening to the reading of the book of the Acts of the Holy Apostles. Most churches actually read the Acts. The day turns into very late evening, and believers gathering for festive services are greeted by the bright red festive decoration of the church.

Easter. Artist Y. Kuzenkova.

At midnight the Easter religious procession takes place. But first they read the canon that they have already heard, the same one popularly called “The Wave of the Sea...”. Then the priest (or priests and deacons) go to the altar. There is some joyful bustle (who is not at an Easter service for the first time, knows, it is connected with the fact that the people distribute roles during the religious procession: who will go with a lantern, who with banners. But the temple falls silent. From the altar you can hear singing: “Resurrection Yours Christ“Savior Angels sing in heaven,” the priest and those with him appear in white vestments and go out into the street. In front of the priest they carry a lantern, banners, icons and a cross from the altar, followed by the choir, and all the praying people with candles (according to tradition, candles for Easter are red). Everyone must leave the temple and its doors are closed. The procession goes around the temple and stops in front of it. closed doors, as if in front of the burial cave of Christ.

And then the moment happens that they have been waiting for all year (and they fast, perhaps, for the sake of this moment of spiritual happiness). The priest sings the Easter troparion three times: “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death and giving life to those in the tombs!” Following him, the choir sings three times, the singing is picked up by everyone who came to pray that night. Then the priest sings verses (the first of them begins with the words “May God rise again...) to which everyone sings along the Easter troparion. Then three times in one breath the people respond to the priest’s exclamation: “Christ is risen”! - “Truly he is risen”! The doors open, and in a joyful crowd, people enter the temple to the sound of bells, continuing to sing the troparion of Easter.

When everyone is already inside, the choir sings the Easter canon - the most joyful poetic work of church hymnography. There are words in it about how the king and prophet David “galloped before the ark of hay,” this means that he danced in front of the Ark of the Covenant, anticipating our today's fun. In general, on this night all liturgical texts are sung and just like that - “jumping while playing.”

After each song of the canon, the priest comes out of the altar, proclaims prayer requests and addresses the temple three times: “Christ is Risen!” and those praying do not tire of answering him, “Truly he is risen!” There is a tradition that is observed in many temples. After each song, the priest puts on a vestment of a different color.
The canon is finished and the stichera of Easter are sung, the backgammon is Christed, that is, everyone who is in the church greets each other: “Christ is Risen” - “Truly He is Risen” and kisses three times.

On this night, many unusual and joyful things await the worshiper. Royal Doors both open and remain open until next Sunday. You can see everything the priest does during the Liturgy. The service of the hours, usually quite long, is replaced by the singing of the Easter hours, fast and joyful. At the Liturgy you can hear how the Gospel sounds in different languages(at this service it is supposed to be read in ancient Greek, Latin, Church Slavonic and in general in all possible dialects).

The Easter service ends with the Liturgy. At the end, a special Easter bread - artos - is blessed, pieces of which will be distributed on the Saturday following Easter.

The service ends and people go home (it happens that parishes host communal meals) to break their fast. And breaking the fast lasts all seven days following Easter...
