For example: a bathroom cabinet made from an old suitcase, a chic shelving unit made from a guitar case and similar ideas - give room for creative imagination, pushing for the creation of unusual household items from ordinary junk.

New life for an unnecessary door

Today we invite you to create one of these trendy things: a table from... a door that has served its purpose. Moreover, the options for manufacturing tables can be different, as well as the types of doors. The main thing we need is inspiration, a minimum of tools and some auxiliary materials.

Dining table made from a blank interior door

How to make a comfortable one out of an old door dinner table, if its surface is usually uneven? There is nothing simpler: such a drawback can easily be turned into a stylish highlight. For this we need:

  • 4 table legs (can be taken from an old one) and wood screws for fastening them;
  • 2 glasses according to the size of the panels (recesses in the surface of the door);
  • Clear sealant or adhesive for glass and wood;
  • Sanding machine (or medium to fine grain sandpaper);
  • Acrylic paint suitable color, varnish, wax paste.

The glass can be left removable - the niches under them can be decorated, each time slightly changing the appearance of the tabletop; You can glue the glass using sealant or glue, smoothing the joints using tile grout.

All that remains is to rub the tabletop with wax to improve its performance properties. Stylish and comfortable table ready for your kitchen.

"Vintage" table

Another option for making a dining table from an old door is similar to that described above, however, there are some differences in preparing the tabletop:

Stylish table made of double doors with glass

An original coffee table can be made from an old door if the door consists of two narrow glazed doors (photo 7).

However, the design of such a table is universal for any door, and its manufacture will take very little time - and even less money.

Approximate dimensions coffee table from the old one double door: 700x1000 mm, height 600mm - however these dimensions may vary.

To make it we need furniture corners(4 pcs.), 4-8 confirmats, acrylic putty and opaque acrylic paint.

The finished table can take its place in the living room - becoming a real stylish decoration room design.

Nowadays it is fashionable to give old wooden objects a second life. Apparently, people feel like guests, brought into this life by a random wind, and they want to cling to something that matters. For example, for someone else's story. That's why people are so keen on antiques. That’s why they try to make new things seem old and worn out, and for this they use various techniques aging.

And if you really get your hands on it old thing, then they immediately try to place it in a prominent place. In this regard, many interior styles have emerged, in which an old wooden door is not only appropriate, but can even be the highlight of the decor. This is Provence, rustic, shabby chic, eclectic.

Here, for example, is what to do with old doors.

1. Bench in the hallway

A vertically placed door is taken as the basis of the rack; a bench is attached to it, which can also be a storage place. You can attach a mirror, or a hanger, or a decorative object to the top of the door itself.

2. Workplace

The place will be small but comfortable. Its basis is the door on which the table is attached, and they are both painted the same color. A chair completes the design of the workplace. This is where the general part ends, and complete diversity begins.

You put a laptop on the table, attach shelves to the door, you get a traditional office workplace.

With the same success, such a workplace can be in the kitchen, then all sorts of kitchen tools will hang on the vertical part of the door, and on the table you can cut, stuff, butcher and do other things. In this case, you can equip the table with drawers for knives, forks and spoons.

If you attach a mirror to the door and put cosmetics and jewelry boxes on the table, you will get a cute dressing table.

We can attribute to such a table the execution various functions, from a gardener’s auxiliary place somewhere on the veranda, to a bedside table in the bedroom, with a lamp, alarm clock and other little things. Family photographs will then be placed on the door itself.

3. Rack

The door leans against the wall and is securely fastened, and shelves are attached to it. You can install a door with a slope, then there will be shelves on both sides, some of them will be located between the door and the wall.

4. Corner shelving

In this case, the door is sawn almost in half lengthwise, so that by connecting them, an angle with equal sides. That is, one half must be longer than the other by exactly the thickness of the door leaf. Wooden triangular shelves are built into this corner. If corner rack placed in the hallway, keys, glasses, handbags, etc. are placed on the shelves. Yes, and in another place you can arrange such a rack, anyway, many corners are walking.

5. Mirror frame

This role directly suggests itself for the door. After all, as a rule, it is divided into sections, so one section can be replaced with mirror glass and the door can be placed so that the mirror is at the top.

6. Coffee table

This is not a very natural position for a door to lie flat, resting on its legs. However, in the second term of life this does not happen. Depending on the color of the door, you can make it simple garden table, strong and reliable; or a deliberately primitive piece of kitchen furniture; or low coffee table on fancy legs, refined and decorative.

Many options are possible here. They have only one thing in common: the door is securely attached to the wall and should not fall on your head. It can be attached entirely, lengthwise or crosswise. You can leave only the outer frame of it, and transform the inside into either an organizer, or a display case, or a stand for family photos. At the same time it can be loaded additional functions, for example, let it serve as a hanger at the same time.

8. Stand for kitchen tools

In this capacity, it is better to use the door that served in the dressing room, because it consists entirely of slits. They are convenient for holding all sorts of kitchen tools. By the way, such a stand is suitable not only for the kitchen. If you place it in the workshop, you can store many useful items in plain sight, at hand.

9. Headboard by the bed

What kind of objects do inventive people put in their headboards? Well, how can we ignore it? wooden doors? They are played the most different ways, the main thing is that the door does not conflict with the rest of the bedroom decor.

10. Screen

Usually, for a screen, they take several narrow doors of the same height and somehow arrange them. Such a screen can also be in the bedroom and even serve as a headboard. With the help of such a mobile decorative item, you can disguise a hole in the wallpaper or hastily thrown items. On one of the doors of the screen you can build a place for notes by placing slate board. Such a design can have any number of functions, but the main one is decorative.
