With the help of such an interesting and simple decor You can easily emphasize the thematic direction of the room. Most often, Damascus wallpaper is used in bedroom interiors to create or complement a classic style. Below is a sample of wallpaper from the Victoria Stenova brand:

In order to create a harmonious and holistic design, you can repeat the pattern on curtains, bedspreads or decorative pillows. It is not necessary that they be present on their entire surface. A few motives are enough. An interesting technique The use of monograms on pillows in the form of a damask pattern is considered. It can be embroidered. Designers warn against using a large abundance of prints. The same rule applies to the use of shades, which in maximum quantities will conflict with each other. Wallpaper from Andrea Rossi Burano in the interior:

Any of the niches will be a good area for covering with Damask wallpaper. In addition, opening a shelf or various protrusions are also perfect. When decorating the wall behind the shelves with such wallpaper, it is necessary to take into account the location of all decorative elements on it. Otherwise, these original accessories will block the beautiful patterns on the canvases. Experts recommend choosing canvases from any company from the list: Roberto Cavalli, Victoria Stenova, Estelle Marburg, Andrea Rossi Burano, Grandeco, Esedra, Zambaiti parati, Moods, Rasch Florentine. Among other things, good decision There will be a choice of Swedish, English, Belgian or Belarusian coatings. Pay attention to the delicate and sophisticated Hidden richness wallpaper in the interior:

Correct selection of canvases

Designers recommend using it as color palette for the bedroom wallpaper in pink, light brown, beige or blue shades (Andrea Rossi Burano, Estelle Marburg, Grandeco Hidden richness, Moods, Craquelure, London, Roberto Cavalli and others). Swedish, Belarusian, Belgian and English materials for wall decoration are popular. Such coverings will have a calming effect on family members and promote proper rest. Damask wallpaper from Rasch Florentine is shown in the photo below:

As for gluing damask wallpaper in the interior of a children's room, this is usually not done, since this pattern is more adult. It is permissible to design a separate zone in the room where the teenager lives. In this case, it is best to use zoning. Wallpapers from Zambaiti Parati collection:

Living room

The key role of damask patterns is to create an atmosphere of solidity and celebration. Therefore, such finishing materials are most often used for pasting the walls of the living room. Since each element of such decor should emphasize cheerfulness and richness, experts advise using more bright and contrasting shades. Wallpapers from the Esedra brand:

It is best to opt for wallpaper that will captivate attention due to the fact that it uses unusual tints or contrasting inserts. These can be gilded, bright brown patterns or red on a white background. If the choice fell in favor of the latter, then it is best not to cover all the walls with such Damascus wallpaper.

The fact is that the abundance of red can have a negative effect on the psyche. In small quantities it looks impressive and does not have any effect on a person. Therefore, designers recommend using such Damascus wallpaper as zoning. This will create an attractive appearance rooms.

You can use only one of the walls for pasting. It is best to choose the one that is the main one for this purpose. This means that there should not be any doors or windows on it. To decorate other surfaces you can use striped wallpaper not too noticeable shades. In addition, plain wall coverings are perfect for such decor.

Choosing the right design

A good option would be to choose traditional background colors. These include grey, beige and white. Designers advise using tones in the design of the living room that differ from damask motifs by one or more shades.

For the correct perception of patterns on such wall coverings, the size of the room will have a great influence. If the area of the hall or living room is not too large, it is best not to overload the interior with too much use. bright accents Damascus. It is best to purchase wallpaper for this purpose that has an unobtrusive, light pattern. Pictured is the As Creation wallpaper:

If the room is quite large, then decor in a bright Damascus style will not pose any problem. In addition, such patterns can be used in various functional areas. As a result, such a room will look very harmonious. For example, you can stylize the area where there is a TV or fireplace in an antique Damask style. Photo wallpaper from London Style:

The area of the room in which the sofa is located should be decorated with canvases that have a more restrained pattern, and niches and protrusions should be decorated with original accents. To do this, you can purchase wallpaper from the brands Grandeco, Victoria Stenova, Andrea Rossi Burano, Rasch Florentine, Esedra, Sirpi, Roberto Cavalli, Zambaiti Parati, Hidden richness, Moods, Estelle marburg, Craquelure. In addition, choosing Swedish, Belgian or Belarusian coatings would be an excellent solution.

As for the curtains for the living room, the walls of which are decorated with damask wallpaper, it is best to choose them in a single color. If this type of wallpaper is pasted on a wall that is located near a window, then curtains with a frequent pattern can create visual overload for the eyes. It is best to match them to the main decorative elements in the living room. Then such a room will look harmonious and cozy.

Kitchen or dining room

Damask themes can look very contradictory in most cases. But in the dining room, such coverings, on the contrary, will look appropriate and create a certain charm. If the kitchen has a balcony, then you can decorate the space around it with Damask wallpaper. It will look very harmonious in the interior. The remaining walls can be decorated in a familiar theme. Decorating niches in the kitchen with black and white Damascus wallpaper in the interior can give such a room a little chic. It is best if the table, chairs and furniture are made in the same colors. The use of bright furniture is also allowed. Victoria Stenova is shown in the photo:

The most advantageous option would be to use Damascus wallpaper in antique-style kitchens or dining rooms in the interior. It is recommended to complement such a space with massive wooden furniture, textile accessories in large quantities, preferably in calm shades or also in antique style, etc. Good example with wallpaper from Roberto Cavalli:

Since the damask pattern is universal, you can choose only a shade for the kitchen that will match the color of the main decorative elements. These could be potholders, a tablecloth, curtains or other accessories. Some designers advise choosing Damascus wallpaper to match the color of the furniture in the interior. In this case, ornaments that are coated in the form of gilding are perfect, coffee color, brown or cream. Example - Marburg wallpaper:

These refined and original motifs are very popular as decoration for kitchens or dining rooms. big size. Such a pattern will look especially interesting on the walls in rooms with big windows. Some designers divide such rooms into zones: where they cook and where they eat. By decorating a room in a house or apartment in this way, you can special effort emphasize the sophistication, luxury and traditional restraint of the interior.

Hallway

Before you start decorating such a room with damask wallpaper, you should take into account that the perception of this pattern may not always be harmonious. For example, large elements of motives can make already narrow space even tighter. And, inserts of dark or bright shades, for example, in the form decorative panel, may disrupt the limited lighting of the corridor. Not everyone has the courage to use Damascus wallpaper in the interior of the hallway. They are afraid that the walls will visually “pressure” on them.

Therefore, it is best to use such materials to decorate the walls in the corridor. large sizes, for example, in country or private houses. This universal pattern can also be used in ordinary standard hallways. It is best to choose damask wallpaper in light shades for this purpose.

With their help you can make the necessary emphasis on the surface of the walls. This decor will look very original and interesting. Damask wallpaper from the Sirpi brand:

Offer from Emiliana Parati wallpaper Roberto Cavalli can be seen in the following video:

For interior designers, the concept of Damascus is associated not so much with the famous damask blades, but with a special arrangement of vertically alternating elements of a floral pattern, forming a symmetrical floral pattern, characterized by a complex interweaving of its components.

The pattern owes its name to the Syrian capital, which since ancient times was famous for the production of expensive fabrics self made. Even in the East, which values bliss, not everyone could afford to use such fabrics in home decoration. With the advent of wallpaper for walls, almost anyone can transform the walls of an apartment into the palace chambers of a sheikh or padishah, since the Damascus pattern is firmly associated in the mind with unbridled oriental luxury, or at least with solid wealth.

Wide selection of designs
The wallpapers we offer with damask patterns differ both in the design of the pattern itself and in its rhythm, which affects the perception of the size of the space, the size of the elements that form cyclically repeating patterns, and the degree of their brightness and contrast.
Wide range of wallpaper colors
Traditionally, wallpaper for walls in damask style is designed in the following shades: muted pink and rich blue, blue and brown, black and white, all shades of ocher. Modern interior trends often go beyond this, offering new colors and unusual shades, patina and gilding, which is why our catalogs are constantly updated.

The origins of the pattern are in early Middle Ages, or to be more precise, in the Syrian city of Damascus, where fabrics with beautiful dense patterns were made.

In the 21st century, a rich pattern consisting of intertwining smooth lines forming vertical, symmetrically arranged floral motifs is already used in the most different materials and surfaces. In modern interior design, the damask pattern has become a kind of decorative classic, and if in pursuit of new trends you have lost sight of it, our article will eloquently remind you of one of the most beautiful patterns.

Today we would like to talk about one very beautiful and stylish ornament - Damascus , which is very popular in Lately. From the name it becomes clear that the roots of this pattern are from Syria, the city of Damascus. This pattern has always been characteristic of expensive, rich oriental interiors.

Nowadays, the damask pattern is widely used in a wide variety of variations, color combinations and fits perfectly into any interior style. As a rule, damask consists of one or two, less often three colors. Where can you find Damascus? Since the times of Syria - on textiles and wallpaper, today - on furniture upholstery, tiles, dishes, patterns on glass, lampshades, picture frames. The photo below shows several varieties of this ornament.

3

In addition, in addition to its stylistic versatility, damask is suitable for all rooms. It can be found on the wallpaper in the bedroom or living room, on the tiles in the bathroom or kitchen, on the curtains of the office, or on the chandelier in the office. Let's take a closer look at the areas of application of this beautiful pattern.

Wallpaper

Wallpaper is the most common area of application of the damask pattern. They can be paper, textile, velor or vinyl - for bathrooms. Due to the richness and luxury of the ornament, it would be overkill to cover all the walls with such wallpaper. Therefore, as a rule, one so-called “accent” wall is covered with wallpaper with damask.

But there are exceptions: when the wallpaper is light colors and there is not much contrast between the background and the pattern, or it is only visible when the light falls directly on it, then you can wallpaper all the walls. We see such an example in the photo below. The first photo shows a beautiful, rich interior: the whole room seems to be in a silver glow due to the glossy coating of the wallpaper.

5

In this photo, we got the opposite effect - a calm range of wallpaper creates a cozy, bright room in classic style. This clear example the versatility of damask - it fits perfectly into both art deco and classics.

1

The classic use of damask is an “accent” wall and companion items: a mirror, pillows, cushions on a couch. The colors of all materials are matched to match each other. It always looks stylish, and in our case it also looks expensive and luxurious.

5

Damask fits perfectly into a classic dining room on an “accent” wall with a mirror. Thus, it sets the overall tone of the interior and will always be the center of attention.

1

This delicate interior- the embodiment of girlish dreams. A pink marshmallow on a golden platter, not a child's one! The main item in the children's room is the crib, as in all other rooms, it stands against the main wall, covered with wallpaper with damask patterns. The pink pattern on the golden background of the wallpaper looks very gentle and at the same time luxurious.

1

Damask looks very beautiful when the background is matte and the pattern itself is glossy or metallic.

1

1

An original solution for a study is an “accent” wall in a dark color scheme, and the walls and floor in a light color scheme, creating the feeling that the whole room is suspended in the air. Very “tasty” both in concept and in colors. The large ornament on the wallpaper does not stand out from the overall style of the room.
2

Black and white damask seems to have stepped out of the pages of ancient books. The complex rhythmic pattern does not burden the overall background and goes well with all the other objects in the room.

Textile

As we mentioned earlier, textiles were the first material on which damask appeared. In those distant times, materials with damask were exclusively natural - silk, cotton, linen. Nowadays, a huge number of artificial and synthetic materials have appeared that wonderfully recreate this ornament and at the same time are very durable, pleasant to the touch, easy to wash and clean.

The upholstery of the luxurious sofas in this photo confirms that just 1 or 2 pieces with damask are enough to immediately transform the interior. Using the example of this room, you can see that all the furniture and decoration is very simple and calm, but thanks to the sofas and the damask-shaped mirror, a special charm, comfort and luxury style the entire room.

2

Damask patterns can be very intense or contrasting, thereby helping to create color accents and spots. This can be used skillfully, for example, take a completely neutral background (light walls, floor, curtains) and enter upholstered furniture with bright printed damask patterns. Or the same light background, but together with light sofas, and with bright damask curtains and pillows. Thus, objects with damask become the center of the entire composition.

In the photo below, this technique is used in the interior of a snow-white kitchen, where completely unexpected wooden chairs with black and white damask upholstery. But as we can see, it looks absolutely appropriate, stylish and beautiful.

Thanks to textiles with damask, you can add pretentiousness, or emphasize the already luxurious interior. Damasks in gold or bronze tones best add pomp. They go well with furniture made of dark wood or decorative elements in gold and bronze.

1

Bed linen or bedspreads with Domasque patterns are reminiscent of the fairy tales of Scheherazade. A bed with such a cape and pillows will become a real royal bed on which you will sleep sweetly.

Tile

We have repeated the words more than once - expensive, luxurious, chic. And again we will say the same about tiles with Damascus. There's nothing to be done, that's just the pattern.

As with wallpaper, the combination of matte and metallic textures looks very impressive on tiles. Black and gold is truly luxurious.

No less interesting than solid damask tiles is the mosaic laid out with this pattern. This mosaic looks just as beautiful, but in a new, more original way. With this approach, 2-3 or more colors can be used, the size of the mosaic tiles can also be different.

1

Decorative elements

In addition to wallpaper and textiles, the technique of stenciled wall decoration is very interesting. Now it is available, and incredibly simple. Just buy a stencil with a damask monogram, choose paint, and paint. It will come out very original, simple, and most importantly - individual, because you definitely won’t find a second ornament like this. You can paint several small motifs on one wall, or one large one. Or apply a cyclic pattern along all the walls in the room.

It is very interesting to use damask patterns to decorate some interior items. You can paint it picture frame, apply a pattern to the lampshade of a lamp, or to a mirror.

In the photo below, the damask pattern appears in a very creative interpretation. An ordinary gray house, and the entrance is decorated with soft pink doors with white damask. Just a pink door would look ridiculous and out of place, but with large drawing in damask style is a completely different matter.

Damascus will appeal to those who want to surround themselves elegant luxury and even some pomp. A mirror in the hallway with a damask-shaped frame declares the status of the home from the very threshold, and this is echoed by a couch with a velvet floral pattern.

Since damask is a rhythmic ornament, it is also used in the creation of stone carvings. Endless patterns will look good as a report under the ceiling or as a separate insert on the wall, framed.

To summarize, I would like to note the features of the use of Damascus:

  • this pattern fits into any style and room, moreover, it is reproduced on almost all possible materials, therefore the possibilities of its application are very wide
  • with the help of damask you can easily add a touch of luxury and decorate any, even the most ordinary and unremarkable room
  • use this ornament in doses, since the pattern is very rich, you can easily overdo it
  • The most successful application is when the room has 1 or 2 groups of items with damask: sofa + curtains, curtains + pillows, sofa + wallpaper, bed + curtains and other variations of combinations.
