How to make a greenhouse for cabbage seedlings yourself. Do it yourself: Do-it-yourself greenhouse for seedlings. Optimal design location

If growing seedlings at home is impossible, but the climate of your region allows you to do it directly summer cottage, we propose to build a greenhouse for seedlings. With its help it will be possible to drive seedlings into as soon as possible.

The greenhouse is a simple design. Most often, this is an ordinary arc, wooden or even wire frame covered with film, but there are also more practical solutions.

Before deciding to grow seedlings in a greenhouse, make sure that the climate is suitable for this. For example, in middle lane It will not be possible to grow seedlings of blueberries and peppers in greenhouses, since the low night temperature will not allow this, but it is quite possible that you will be able to raise seedlings of cabbage, radishes, and tomatoes.

It is very important that the night temperature is kept at a level not lower than +7+8°C, and the daytime temperature, at the same time, reaches +12+15°C. Often this is mid-spring.

If it’s difficult to guess the timing, there won’t be any special problems, it’s just that the seeds will germinate a little later, say, not in 2-2.5 weeks, but in 3-4. But, as usual, the seedlings manage to get stronger by the end of April or beginning of May. Only one thing is important here - use a high-quality substrate, prepared seeds, and also follow the growing rules!

Choosing a place for a greenhouse in the country

It is advisable to determine a flat and quiet place at the dacha for a greenhouse. This could even be a site in the garden, since while the seedlings are being forced out, there are no leaves on the trees yet, and the shadow will not interfere with the development of the crops.

Try to ensure that the structure is located conveniently, optimize its location as much as possible, for example, not far from a barn, a water tap, and so on.

Design parameters

Before starting construction, you can draw up a work plan or just a diagram in which to describe optimal sizes in length and width, choose the height and select the material.

These are the most comfortable dimensions not only for working on the site, but also for construction. Calculated here minimum costs on the material, the load on the frame, the convenience of covering with polyethylene, and so on.

The simplest do-it-yourself polyethylene greenhouse

Right away we want to tell you how to build a simple and cheap greenhouse for growing seedlings. Today we need to take care of healthy planting material, and not the beauty of the site or structures, and therefore we do everything correctly and save as much as possible (after growing the seedlings, we will remove the structure from the site anyway).

So, in order not to waste money, we suggest building from scrap materials; you will only need to buy film.

Arcs for the frame

You can use the arcs from last year, take extra ones from your neighbor, or buy cheap and used ones. But if this is not possible, we make the arcs ourselves. It could be metal plastic pipes that remained after repairs, fittings, metallic profile, thin pipe, thick steel wire, medium-diameter tree branches of elastic species. At least it will be possible to use even wooden beam, but then we will get not arcs, but a rectangular frame.

Having determined the location and made markings according to the parameters that we proposed earlier (or according to your own), install arcs or other frame elements around the perimeter. The maximum step between the arcs is 1 m, so as not to disrupt the stability and bearing capacity after covering with film.

Greenhouse device

Once the arches are in place, you can place a low frame of wood or bricks underneath them, creating a raised bed, so to speak. This is necessary in order to lay a high-quality seedling substrate for planting, in which the seeds will not only give maximum germination, but will also quickly turn into strong seedlings.

You can also tie the frame (arches or wooden beam) with the lower part device to increase stability. By using a dozen clamps or a roll of binding wire, you will ensure that the arcs with the film certainly will not fly away in the wind.

Covering with film

We have already talked about film greenhouses, and therefore we advise you to choose film for a greenhouse structure with approximately the same parameters. In short, it should be a material of medium strength and light transmittance. Thus, the sun will warm the structure well, the film will last a long time, and the temperature inside will remain close to stable even at night.

It is advisable to buy the film from the roll whose parameters most closely match the size of the greenhouse. Stretching the film is very simple - the material is thrown from one side to the other, evenly stretched in arcs, and a load is tied to the edges of the film below, even old bricks or pieces of pipes, to hold the cover on the frame.

Now all we have to do is cook good soil, find out or remember the agricultural technology of plants, the rules for growing seedlings, and get down to business.

Options for greenhouses for seedlings

Greenhouses at the dacha can be very diverse, and it is not necessary to build an arc one if there are more interesting options, and for some, more convenient.

Polycarbonate structure

Most practical greenhouse, which you can buy and simply plant the necessary crops inside. With him there is the least amount of hassle and only positive emotions. But except for one thing, you have to pay for practicality, and a lot.

Arc greenhouse made of film

This is almost the same design that we decided to build today, but it comes in a ready-made kit. All you have to do is bring the kit to your dacha, place it on the site and assemble it. Convenient and fast, but again at a cost.

Greenhouse thermos

We have studied the thermos greenhouse inside and out, and the conclusions are clear - an excellent model, functional and practical. Now you can build a similar greenhouse by referring to our diagram or creating your own. The structure can be covered with old windows.

A simple greenhouse made from windows

A greenhouse made from windows is also a past stage, but now you can, based on previously acquired knowledge, create something similar for growing seedlings. The only difference is that the design will be several times smaller.

Wooden greenhouse with glass

The image below shows how to knock down the box and install it on the bricks. Good idea, especially if you then cover it with glass and fill it with seedling soil inside High Quality.

Cheap option for a summer residence

There is nothing easier and cheaper than assembling a place for growing seedlings from scrap materials. Today these are old refrigerators and old windows. As you can see, it doesn't look very good, but it functions great.

Do-it-yourself greenhouse for seedlings (video)

You can always build a greenhouse for growing seedlings in your country house with your own hands. Don’t be lazy and give an excellent start to the crops from which you expect to receive good harvest.

Greenhouse for seedlings at a summer cottage (20 photos)

Having even small area land, it is difficult to do without a greenhouse. Grow seedlings, get an early harvest, protect them from possible frost, from heat, make plants bloom earlier - all this can be done with the help of this device. Moreover, making a greenhouse with your own hands is not difficult. There are absolutely simple designs, there are more complex ones, but making any of them does not require special education.

The frame for a greenhouse can be made of wood (boards), metal (corner, profile pipe or fittings) or from PVC pipes (round or square). Cover the greenhouse with the same materials as : film, spunbond (also called agrofibre or non-woven covering material), polycarbonate and glass. Since the size of greenhouses is smaller (plants in greenhouses are served from outside), the requirements for them are not so stringent: even strong wind they are not afraid.

Greenhouse sizes

Since in a greenhouse the plants are served from the outside, its width is chosen so that it is comfortable for you to process plants planted closer to the middle. You determine this experimentally: sit down and try to reach some area with your hand. Measure the distance. You get the width of the greenhouse with a one-sided approach. This is if the greenhouse is located in such a way that it is impossible to get to it from the other side (near a wall, for example). If you can approach from both sides, you double this result.

The distance is different for each person: height and physical condition affect. You should not chase savings by making it wider than necessary. You will have to spend a lot of time weeding, loosening, fertilizing, and other work. A couple of hours in an uncomfortable position, and there is no strength left. Therefore, it is better to make the greenhouse a little narrower, but to make it convenient to work: while enjoying your work, you spend less effort.

And the length of the greenhouse is chosen based on the layout of the site. It's arbitrary.

A simple greenhouse made of arcs under film or spunbond

This greenhouse is made of several boards, knocked down to the required dimensions, arcs of PVC pipes, which are attached to wooden base. The tops of these arcs are connected at the top by a beam or the same pipe. If it is a timber, it needs to be well processed, rounding the edges so that the film does not tear.

How to secure the arches

How to attach arcs of PVC pipes to a greenhouse frame. They are most often secured using metal perforated tape. Take a small piece of it about 5-6 centimeters, screws and a screwdriver. And they are secured on both sides. To be on the safe side, you can do it twice.

In exactly the same way, you can fasten them from the inside to hold them tighter by adding bars.

Another option: drive in pieces of reinforcement near the frame, place pipes on them and only then secure them with clamps to the frame boards. This option is more reliable.

How to attach the film

You can attach the film to PVC pipes using double-sided tape. But only if inexpensive polyethylene film was used: it is impossible to tear it off without damaging it, and polyethylene lasts no more than a year. So for a seasonal greenhouse this is a “cheap and cheerful” option. The second method is special clips for fixing films and anything that can replace them - a piece of an old hose cut lengthwise, a clamp for pipes that are used for installing pipelines, office binders, etc.

It also makes sense to secure a block on both sides along the edges of the film. To do this, the film is cut to a length greater than necessary, a block is wrapped in the excess and the film is secured to it. Now you have a piece of film with bars attached to its short sides. Leave one on one side, throw the second on the other. Now you don’t need to press the film to the ground with stones: the block holds it well. It is also convenient to open the greenhouse for ventilation; wrap the film and place it on top.

You can use small nails to attach the film, but place washers under the caps. It is faster to work with a construction stapler with staples. To prevent the film from tearing at the attachment points, it is padded with something. You can use thick braid or just a strip of fabric, and hammer fasteners into it.

More powerful option

If there is a need to make a greenhouse with PVC arches more reliable, wooden posts are nailed to the board base in the center of the short side. A board is attached to them on the edge, in which holes are pre-drilled with a diameter larger than outside diameter pipes

During installation, the pipe is threaded through the hole. You can fasten it on the sides as suggested above, or you can do it another way: first install pins in the bars and put the pipe on them.

The simplest greenhouse

Why are they good? PVC pipes, so this is because they are easy to bend. Also because they weigh little. Perfect option for a lightweight, portable greenhouse, especially if combined with spunbond. This material can be sewn. Take a piece with a density of 30 kg/m2 and make drawstrings in it in increments of 50-60 cm. For the drawstring, stitch across a strip of the same material about 10 cm wide (it is stitched on both sides). Insert pipes cut into the required lengths inside.

Now all this can be installed on the bed: stick pegs in two rows on one side and the other of the bed, and place a pipe on them. You immediately get a ready-made greenhouse. And what’s more convenient: you open and close the plants simply by collecting or straightening the spunbond on the arc. This is a very convenient temporary greenhouse: as soon as it is not needed, it can be removed and folded in a couple of minutes.

Greenhouse - it couldn't be simpler

This greenhouse is good for seedlings, but you can make it for peppers and eggplants. A stand is nailed in the middle of the base. There are two inclined boards attached to it. The cross section results in a triangle. If you need a long greenhouse, the same structure is installed approximately every meter. All tops are connected with a long bar or pipe. This greenhouse has a simple and convenient design.

Cucumbers are grown with it only until they begin to curl. Under the cucumbers, the covering material is removed, posts are nailed (screwed) to the sides, and twine is pulled between them.

Greenhouse “Breadbox” and “Butterfly” - photo

This design is called a “breadbox” because it looks exactly like plastic containers for bread. Its lid also rises upward, hiding behind the second half. If you look at the photo, you will understand everything.

There are two types of such products: opening on one or both sides. If it is shallow, you can work with a lid that opens on one side. If the width is more than a meter, it will be easier to work if there is access from both sides. This design with two opening sides has its own name: “Snail”.

A film or spunbond is stretched over the manufactured frame, but polycarbonate is more popular for this design.

The second design differs in the type of door opening. Its vault is also made on arches, but opens on hinges upward (see picture).

They can be installed directly on the ground or on a prepared foundation made of bricks or timber. In some cases, the lids do not open immediately from the ground, but there is a small side of 15-20 cm.

From scrap materials

Turn unnecessary things into useful products- our people have no equal in this. They make greenhouses from things you would never even think of.

For example, you can easily make a greenhouse with your own hands from old window frames. When replacing windows, do not rush to throw them away. They can be used to make an excellent greenhouse. Moreover, the designs may be different. The simplest is a body made of boards, to which a window frame (with glass, of course) is attached on top as a lid.

To ensure that the plants receive maximum light, one side of the frame is made higher (which faces south or east). There are different frames, any of them can be used for these purposes. As proof, here is a photo gallery of greenhouses made from frames that were made with their own hands by zealous owners.

They make greenhouses out of barrels. Cover with an old umbrella made of transparent film or cut-off plastic water cans.

A homemade greenhouse can be made from a plastic or foam box. Although “do” is a strong word. All you need to do is stretch the film.

Mini-greenhouses for seedlings

For those who grow seedlings for their own vegetable garden or flower garden, large volumes are useless. We need small greenhouses. Moreover, many grow seedlings on balconies. All of the above designs can be used for a balcony in reduced sizes. For very small plantings, you can even take plastic egg trays. On one side there will be a container for soil and a lid instead of a shelter. Look at the photos for other ideas.

Usage plastic bottles already familiar, only the form is non-standard. The bottle is only cut and a glass with seedlings is inserted inside, or you can plant it directly in the lower part... And this is a portable mini-greenhouse for plants

You can assemble a greenhouse with your own hands in a few hours. None complex structures no need to build. Everything is very simple, economical and practical.

Growing seedlings is a complex of complex agrotechnical activities, each of which is equally important. In this article we will consider only one factor - creating an optimal microclimate. To grow seedlings outdoors, it is advisable to use mini-greenhouses.

What are their advantages?

  1. Versatility of use. In such structures it is possible to maintain humidity and temperature parameters for all types of plants.
  2. Mobility. Mini-greenhouses can be moved annually to other places, taking into account the characteristics of the seedlings and the availability free space Location on.
  3. Low cost. For construction, both purchased and any available materials, remnants of pipes and metal are used, field of installation of complex engineering systems, used structures, etc.
  4. Minimal loss of time. The simplest structure can be made in an hour; more complex, reusable structures will require no more than one day.

In this article we will look at several options for making greenhouses using various materials and technology. This information will allow summer residents to choose the best option for themselves, realistically assess their capabilities and reconcile them with their needs.

The most affordable option for manufacturing, there are always several boards at your dacha. How to do it?

Step 1. Consider the dimensions and specific location. For a mini-greenhouse, a length of 2 m and a width of 1 m is sufficient. The height is selected taking into account the width of the boards.

Practical advice. There are options for making inclined mini-greenhouses, in this way the water flow is ensured. We do not recommend doing this for several reasons. Firstly, rainwater will never harm the seedlings, let them fall into the greenhouse and carry out natural watering. Secondly, one high side shades the plants, and this does not benefit them. Plants in the shade grow weakened, the stems are too elongated and thin. Thirdly, such a design is more difficult to manufacture. Why worsen the conditions for growing seedlings with your own hands?

Step 2. Box assembly. Cut two boards 2 m long and two 1 m long, align the ends with a square. There are two ways to assemble the box: end-to-end or using bars. The second method is preferable; when assembled end-to-end, thin boards may crack. To avoid such consequences, we recommend pre-drilling holes; the diameter of the hole is 0.5–1.0 mm less than the diameter of the hardware. True, in this case it is advisable to use self-tapping screws; the pressing force with ordinary nails may be insufficient. If the greenhouse is stationary, there is no problem, but if it is planned to be moved to a new location, then the structure may collapse.

Practical advice. We recommend strengthening the box, this will significantly increase the time you use the minigreenhouse. Reinforcement should be performed in isosceles right triangles, the length of the side at the top is approximately 10 cm. Prepare 4 such elements and fix them in all corners. It is better to install the angles from above, so they will not succumb to rotting processes.

Step 3. Now you need to choose an option for covering the mini-greenhouse: using glazed window frames or ordinary plastic film. For mini-greenhouses for a long period of use, we recommend making glazed frames; they are stronger and more reliable, and it is more convenient to use such devices.

How to make them?

  1. For a length of 2 meters, three frames with perimeter dimensions of 100x66 cm are sufficient. Frames can be made from a bar of approximately 50x50 mm.
  2. Cut the bars to size; you will need 6 pieces for three frames. 1 m long and 6 pcs. 66 cm long. Make a glass chamfer on one side. Chamfer dimensions up to 5 mm in depth and width.
  3. It is better to assemble the frame using metal furniture corners, it's simple, easy and fast. The corners are fixed with self-tapping screws or nails 20–25 mm long.
  4. Take dimensions for the glass, cut it out and install it in place. To increase the reliability of fastening, you can use glazing beads.
  5. WITH inside nail small slats around the perimeter of the box; the frames will rest on them. There is a second option - increase the size a few centimeters more than the width of the box, then window frames will rest against the sides.

At this point, you can finish making the mini-greenhouse, install it in place, prepare the soil and plant seeds for seedlings. But we will look at several more options for greenhouses made of lumber.

First option. Hang window frames on hinges. This will make opening/closing them somewhat easier. IN open position the structures rest on special stops. The disadvantage is that some of the seedlings will not receive enough full spectrum sunlight. Glass does not transmit ultraviolet rays, which have a negative effect on pathogens.

Practical advice. Do not install cheap furniture piano hinges, they are not removable. When moving a mini-greenhouse, the windows cannot be removed, which significantly complicates the process of transporting the structure.

Second option. There are options for covering a mini-greenhouse with plastic film. To do this, you need to make a supporting frame from slats, stretch the film on both sides, and press it along the perimeter with any heavy objects. For convenience, it is better to sprinkle one side with earth and press the other.

The simplest mini-greenhouses made of lumber

You will need slats or narrow boards, the quantity depends on the size of the greenhouse. The slats are connected at an angle at the top with two nails or self-tapping screws. After making the first element, you need to check its dimensions in the garden bed, if everything is fine, then you can do the rest. The first element should be used as a template, this way you can achieve the same dimensions for all parts. The lower ends should be pointed to make it easier to drive into the ground. To increase the stability of the mini-greenhouse, it is recommended to tie all the elements on both sides wooden blocks. The structure is covered with plastic film and pressed against the perimeter with heavy objects.

Not a bad option, it’s quick to do and creates normal conditions for the development of seedlings. The rods should have a diameter of 6–8 mm, the length is chosen depending on the width of the structure. Height within 50 cm. Such devices are covered only with film. The problem is to prevent the film from sagging. This can be done using several methods.

  1. The distance between the arcs is no more than 50 cm.
  2. After all the arcs are stuck into the ground, several lines of rope or wire are stretched between them, on which the film will lie.

Metal arcs can be bent using a specially prepared template or using any round object of suitable diameter. When bending, remember that after removing the load, the rods will straighten slightly.

The bending template is made using flat surface suitable sizes. On it you need to draw a semicircle with a diameter slightly smaller than the desired width of the mini-greenhouse. After removing the load, the rods will straighten a little, and the width of the mini-greenhouse will increase.

Nails are driven in along the drawn arc at a distance of 4–5 centimeters. In the center and along the edges you need to drive another nail, the distance between them and the arc is slightly larger than the diameter of the metal rod. The workpiece will rest against them during bending. To make arcs you will need a certain practical experience, it is advisable to first practice on unnecessary segments.

Mini-greenhouses made of plastic pipes

Plastic pipes up to three-quarters of an inch in diameter are suitable for production. Estimating the length and number of arcs is not a problem; difficulties may arise during bending. How to bend them?

Plastic is a very elastic material, it is quite difficult to bend it, it always returns to its original state. If you try to bend it too sharply, the pipe will definitely crack. During the manufacture of arcs, the main task is to remove residual forces; they return the pipe to its original straight state. To eliminate stress, the plastic must be heated to a temperature of +100–120°C.

Step 1. Prepare a template. Drive several nails into the wide board along the desired arc; to prevent the pipe from straightening after removing the force, you need to drive additional stop nails along the edges.

Step 2. Insert a piece of pipe of the required length into the template and bend it into the template.

Step 3. Heat the plastic. This can be done using a construction industrial hair dryer or boiling water. You need to work with a hairdryer carefully, not to let the plastic begin to melt. The job, of course, requires experience. It's easier with boiling water, but it doesn't allow you to heat the pipe to required temperatures, it will straighten out quite a lot after being removed from the template.

Step 4. After heating, the arc must cool completely in the template. Take it out and check the effect. If necessary, you can repeat the heating of the material and again keep it in the template until it cools completely.

To make plastic pipes fit into the ground easier, the ends should be cut at an angle. You can use a hacksaw or a cylindrical grinder with a metal cutting disc.

To increase the stability of mini-greenhouses made of plastic or metal arches, you need to install inclined supports on both sides. For these purposes, any pieces of metal or lumber are used.

Use of modern materials

In implementation in Lately Very practical covering nonwoven materials have appeared. With their help, you can grow seedlings directly in the beds without the need to manufacture special structures. Non-woven materials are very light and do not interfere with the growth of seedlings. Plus they miss sunlight and water - there is no need for additional care. At the same time, non-woven materials are able to protect plants from night frosts down to -5°C, which is quite sufficient for most climatic zones of our country.

Making mini-greenhouses from polycarbonate is not economically feasible. This is too expensive a material to use for only a few weeks a year. If you do not pay attention to the final cost of self-grown seedlings, then it is much more profitable to buy them in markets or in specialized stores. Of course, except in cases where the work is on personal plot conducted solely for moral pleasure.

On suburban areas Various crops are grown, each of them has its own requirements for growing seedlings. In this regard, it is much more practical to make several mini-greenhouses for plants, rather than increasing the size of one and trying to grow seedlings of various crops in it.

The industry produces polyethylene film of many types: reinforced, resistant to hard ultraviolet radiation, with increased physical strength. In addition, there is a wide choice of thickness and width. When purchasing covering material, you need to take these characteristics into account and compare them with your requirements. There is no point in buying expensive film for seasonal mini-greenhouses; the cheapest one is quite suitable for such purposes.

To speed up the growth of seedlings in a mini-greenhouse, two methods can be used: use organic waste and manure as a heat source or warm the soil in advance. We recommend using the second option, it is much simpler, and the results are in no way inferior to the first. To speed up soil warming in early spring You need to sprinkle the snow in the mini-greenhouse with ash or peat. Black color absorbs the maximum amount sun rays, heats up quickly and significantly increases the ground temperature. At the same time, ash and peat serve as fertilizer for seedlings.

Video - Assembling a mini-greenhouse for seedlings

A greenhouse, as lovers of growing all kinds of plants affectionately call a device that can be placed on a windowsill. They are often said to be a mini-greenhouse for seedlings to be placed in an apartment. But no matter what they are called, there is more and more information about this method of growing it positive feedback. There are many reasons for this. To confirm, let's look at them in more detail.

You can buy mini-greenhouses in our online store website.

What kind of greenhouse for seedlings can be?

If beginners have a desire to start growing seedlings and more in an apartment, then without familiarizing themselves with the classification of greenhouses and greenhouses for these purposes, it will not be easy to understand this issue.

It must be said that the home mini greenhouse on the windowsill has many variations, each of which sufficiently fulfills its purpose.

After all, a mini greenhouse for seedlings is smart, with step by step action sprout production technology, that is initial stage development of a future crop or ornamental plant.

Types of mini greenhouses make it possible to select for growing seedlings at home, according to different characteristics, most best option for a specific situation.

And so, what they can be, because essentially this is a set for seedlings with several parts included. A home mini greenhouse for an apartment can be equipped as follows:

  • with tablets that come from coconut fiber or peat. They are ideal for seeds soil mixture. In such cases, cassettes of the appropriate size have already been selected for peat tablets;
  • inserts or cassettes for placing tablets and a separate place for each individual sprout. Thanks to this place, that is, the cell, the plant can be easily removed during transplantation, the roots are not injured and quickly take root in the new place;

  • plastic pallet. It is necessary not only as a connecting element with the lid. But also as an addition to drainage system. It does not give, when watering, excess water spill on the windowsill;
  • transparent plastic cover. Indoor greenhouses are usually placed on windows. In this place for the last time winter month You can still feel the dry air from the warm radiators, which is unacceptable at any stage of seedling development. Therefore, to create greenhouse effect mini greenhouse for seedlings with peat tablets is always complete with a lid. It is needed not only when the heating is on, but also in any case, to create a greenhouse effect;
  • phytolamp. A mini greenhouse with phytolamps, that is, an ideal package with lighting. A mini greenhouse on a windowsill with lighting is necessary because in this case it will be exposed to temperature regime, air humidity and lighting. Which, as fans of growing seedlings at home know, is always not enough for the proper development of sprouts at an early stage. A small, convenient mini-greenhouse with peat tablets and lighting installed on the windowsill will create favorable conditions for growing seedlings.

From the above we can conclude that a greenhouse on a window sill for an apartment consists of the following parts:

  • pallet,
  • inserts in the form of cassettes,
  • coconut or peat tablets,
  • transparent cover,
  • lighting in the form of a phytolamp.

It should be noted that the mini greenhouse for seedlings on the windowsill is designed in such a way that, in any case, those parts that are not included in the package can always be purchased if the need arises. The minigreenhouse kit may not include tablets, cassettes or a phytolamp, so the price of the kit in this case will be lower.

Mini greenhouse for seedlings - advantages

Very convenient to have little greenhouse for seedlings on the windowsill. Located on the window, it does not take up much space and does not bother anyone. But it brings a lot of benefits:

  • to germinate seeds at home, and not to travel anywhere, not to waste time and not to grow it at the dacha. This is, in the full sense of the word, a home mini greenhouse for seedlings with plastic cover will not only give good germination planting material, but will also save time and money;
  • mini greenhouses for seedlings with peat tablets are designed in such a way that a special microclimate is created inside it. Not only with a certain humidity, but also with an air movement system, that is, ventilation;
  • A home mini greenhouse for an apartment for growing flower seedlings is especially relevant. As well as germinating small seeds exotic plants. Which require greenhouse conditions in order for them to sprout;
  • window mini-greenhouses are great for growing herbs from seeds, such as dill and parsley. Such vitamins can grow in an apartment all winter;
  • the greenhouse nursery in the apartment will last for more than one year, that is, it is intended for reusable use, but the tablets are disposable. And to germinate new seeds, they will need to be purchased again;
  • Buying a greenhouse for seedlings at home means not only effect, but also convenience. That is, a clean window sill and hands. After all, there is no need to wipe the windowsill from spilled water every time after watering and get your hands dirty in spilled soil.

Why do you need a mini greenhouse for seed germination?

A home mini greenhouse for an apartment will help the development of not only seeds, but also cuttings. After all, in order for both of them to take root, certain conditions are necessary. Which can be created by a greenhouse on the window while it is still cold outside.

Mini greenhouses for seedlings in an apartment will help you grow a properly developing plant. Because they are intended:

  • for cuttings. Mini greenhouses for seedlings are suitable for growing from cuttings indoor plants. Including for myrtle;
  • for indoor flowers of all varieties. For anthurium in such conditions, a simple method of propagation by seeds is not suitable. And also for vegetative method. For cacti, minigreenhouses are suitable for growing this plant from seeds;
  • for ornamental plants, including for growing dwarf spruce from seeds;
  • for flowers for an outdoor flower bed. Suitable for almost all types flower plants, including those that germinate very poorly in ordinary street conditions;
  • for vegetables in garden beds. Mini greenhouses for seedlings with peat tablets are suitable for growing many vegetable crops. It will be most comfortable for peppers to develop in a mini on a window, but with a lamp.

In such greenhouses, as can be seen from the above, you can grow almost all types of domestic plants.

Vegetable seedlings:

  • tomatoes,
  • cucumbers,
  • pepper,
  • cabbage,
  • eggplant,
  • others.

An ordinary simple mini greenhouse for home with peat tablets can be used to germinate roots of cuttings:

  • violets,
  • other ornamental plants.

You can buy a greenhouse or a greenhouse for your windowsill every day in the online store whose page you are on. You can also get advice from our specialists. They will answer all the questions that you had when selecting this product.

For a serious gardener, having a greenhouse pavilion on the property is a must. But not everyone has the space or resources to build a permanent structure, so the ideal solution would be a mini-greenhouse - a simple and effective shelter for plants that can be easily assembled from available materials.

Despite their simplicity, these structures provide an optimal microclimate for the plants planted in them and allow not only to grow seedlings, but also to obtain an early harvest.

If you ask an ordinary person who is not privy to the secrets of constructing closed ground structures, how greenhouse shelters differ from greenhouses, you will most likely hear the answer - small size. But this is not entirely true. Among them there are indeed mini-greenhouses suitable only for growing seedlings, but this is only one small group.

You can build a small shelter in your country house yourself

The main difference between these two types is the way the microclimate is formed under the shelter.

If in a greenhouse the microclimate and plant biorhythms are close to natural, then a humid, warm climate is formed in the greenhouse, saturated with oxygen during the day and carbon dioxide at night. The soil serves as the main source of nutrition, so it is quickly depleted and needs regular fertilization. Plants in greenhouse conditions grow intensively due to the rapid accumulation of plastic reserves.

A polycarbonate greenhouse can be compared to a small greenhouse.

  • for thawing and warming up beds in early spring;
  • growing seedlings;
  • forcing early greens and radishes;
  • early planting of crops with a long growing season;
  • protecting plants in the garden from late frosts;
  • accelerating fruiting;
  • obtaining several harvests per season;
  • creating an optimal microclimate for heat-loving crops.

Types of greenhouses for beds

Mini-greenhouses for garden beds are very easy to build yourself. To do this, it is enough to select a covering material - film, agrofibre, polycarbonate or glass, prepare supports and correctly orient the entire structure.

Ground shelters for insulation

Beds under agrofibre warm up faster

One of the annoying problems of a gardener is the discrepancy between the timing of soil heating and the timing of sowing crops. This can be easily corrected with the help of ground shelters. This is done like this: after the snow has melted on the site, the beds are covered with greenhouse film or agrofibre.

The soil under the shelter warms up 10-14 days earlier, and the temperature under the film is 10°C higher than the surrounding temperature, which allows you to plant seedlings earlier, sow greens or vegetable seeds when the weather has not yet settled.

The simplest tunnel shelter on arches

Tunnel shelter on arches

This small greenhouse“Snowdrop” type can be easily constructed from available materials - agrofibre, PVC film or polyisopropylene. Suitable for growing seedlings, forcing greenery and for early planting of plants in the ground. Arches are used as supports, which can be made from thick steel wire, galvanized profile, metal-plastic pipe or from long rods.

How to make a home mini-greenhouse with your own hands:

  1. Prepare a site for construction. If necessary, place compost or manure under the bed, pour 30-40 cm on top fertile soil. It is better to make the width of the bed 0.6-1 m, length - 2.5-3 m, orientation - from north to south. You can fence the garden bed around the perimeter with boards to prevent the earth from sliding.
  2. Depending on the length of the ridge, prepare 6 or 7 sections of pipes about 2 m long and 12-14 pegs (50 cm) for driving into the ground and securing the arches. If there are no pegs, then it is better to take the pipes half a meter longer in order to securely fix them in the ground.
  3. Bend the pipes into arcs up to a meter high. You can make a special template on the board or use a large one iron barrel suitable diameter.
  4. Drive pegs every 50 cm along the long sides of the future greenhouse. Secure arches to them (or stick arches into the ground 25-30 cm below soil level).
  5. Install a connecting strip on the arches or simply tie the arches together with cord or wire.
  6. Secure film or agrofibre. You can use clips or just tie them.
  7. On the north side, collect the hanging end of the covering material, tighten and secure it, on the south side you can leave it free.
  8. Fix the film on the soil around the perimeter. It is better to take stones for this rather than cover them with soil, since periodically you will need to lift the film to access the plants.

Box with transparent lid

The cassette mini-greenhouse is ideal for growing seedlings and early radishes. A box 40-50 cm high is made from boards; the width and height of the frame are chosen according to the size of the upper shelter. For early sowing of seeds into the soil, it is recommended to select soil in a box to a depth of 40 cm and fill the hole with biofuel. Fertile layer– 20 cm of ordinary soil. For pallets with peat tablets, it is better to make the frame small - 0.5 m * 1 m.

For the lid, you can take old window frames or cover the top with film (or better yet, agrofibre). You can also use thick glass or triplex, but in this case you need to ensure that the edge is sealed or carefully sanded. After seedlings, you can grow young greens under cover - onions, spices, watercress.

It is better to orient such a structure from south to north.

A modification of the cassette greenhouse is a box with a transparent lid. Its difference is that the upper frame is installed at an angle relative to the soil surface. The length is arranged from east to west, the south side of the frame is usually half as low as the north. The dimensions of the box are arbitrary, and for better lighting of the plants it can be made of polycarbonate roof.

Butterfly house - a convenient portable shelter

A mini-greenhouse of the “house” or “butterfly” type is suitable not only for growing seedlings. Depending on the height, you can plant tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cabbage, cucumbers and other vegetables in it to obtain early harvests. Such shelters can be assembled from available materials - boards, slats, film, agrofibre, polycarbonate.

Butterfly greenhouse diagram

The easiest way to make such a structure is to mount a frame from slats and cover it with film or sheath it with polycarbonate. Under polycarbonate, the frame can be assembled from a galvanized profile.

A distinctive feature of this type of greenhouse is that the gable “roof” is made movable on both sides. This makes it easier to ventilate and care for plants.

Cucumbers in a greenhouse “house” under film

To grow cucumbers you need a mini-greenhouse of a slightly different design:

  1. At the chosen location, prepare a bed for two rows of plants and make a wooden frame. Such a “house” can be arranged on the south side of the house, but the seeds in it must be sown in one row.
  2. Attach the racks for the side walls to the harness. The height of the central pillar is 1.5 meters.
  3. Connect the central posts with a longitudinal strip. Twine for gartering cucumbers will also be attached to it, so it needs to be made strong.
  4. Sew up the sides with film, glass or polycarbonate.
  5. A removable roof can be made in the form of a frame with sheathing, or a film, which, if necessary, is simply rolled up and tied up.

Original solutions for garden beds

Home greenhouses are not only a significant help for a gardener, but also a way to realize your creative ambitions. These designs once again prove that a thrifty owner will find a use for even a scrap of straw or leftover film.

Crops protected by straw

Greenhouse made of straw and window frames

In gardening, straw is often used for mulching beds and as a material for insulation. perennial plants in winter. In this design, straw bales act as building material for the box. Due to the properties of straw, it is good to retain heat and moisture.

The air under the glass quickly warms up, and the plants get a head start of two to three weeks. Window frames or polycarbonate are used as a cover.

Protective umbrellas made of film

Late frosts are a serious threat to the crop. Sometimes you have to literally save the beds from death - hill up all the plants or urgently cover especially valuable specimens with straw. But the problem can be solved in another way.

Individual “umbrellas” made of two arcs and a piece of film or agrofibre can protect against frost. The arches are secured with construction tape, the film is secured with clips.

The same devices can be used for glasses with seedlings during the hardening period - during the day the plants are hardened, and at night they are securely hidden from hypothermia.

Two arcs and agrofibre will save you from frost

Use an old plastic barrel

If the farm has an old plastic barrel 200 liters, then in half an hour you can build a spacious mini-greenhouse. You can grow seedlings, herbs, even mushrooms in it. The design retains heat and moisture well. In addition to the barrel, you will need construction scissors, film and construction tape. Detailed instructions look at the video.

Grids and pallets are an excellent frame

The frame for a simple tunnel shelter can be assembled in an hour from waste materials. Grids, pallets, regular slats or thin boards will come in handy. The finished sections are secured with tape and covered with agrofibre. The soil in the beds quickly warms up, and the seeds can be sown.

Using wood helps to avoid any negativity - it does not rust, does not emit chemical substances, does not react with fertilizers and herbicides.

Second life for old refrigerators

Good mini-greenhouses are made from old refrigerators, which are easy to get from landfills or from neighbors.

The engine, cooling system and door are removed from the body. The lid is made of glass or polycarbonate. Refrigerators maintain temperature and humidity well, so an ideal microclimate is created inside. The only thing you need to worry about additionally is the drainage holes under the ground, since without them, excess moisture will lead to rotting of the roots and death of the crops.

Polycarbonate for mini structures

Small polycarbonate greenhouses are lightweight, durable and convenient. It is easy to build almost any mini-shelter model from this material. The only drawback is that such construction can be expensive. But it is not necessary to buy whole sheets specially. You can use the pieces left over after the large-scale construction of a gazebo or greenhouse.

In addition to polycarbonate, you will need material for the frame (slats or galvanized profile), screws and a suitable diagram.

Small greenhouses for an apartment

For a keen summer resident, the gardening season begins in February. And it doesn’t matter that the entire area is covered with snow - seedlings can be grown on the windowsill. And small home greenhouses made from scrap materials will help with this.

Pallets for peat tablets

Popular peat pellet trays can be purchased, but it is cheaper to make your own from an egg tray and plastic containers(bottles or cake boxes). Water the seedlings in tablets through a tray.

Operating procedure:

  1. Drill a hole for drainage in each recess of the tray.
  2. Select suitable plastic packaging (tray and cap). If there is no large container, then the egg tray can be cut. Several holes need to be drilled in the hood for air exchange.
  3. Put in each cell peat tablet and water.
  4. After 10 minutes, the tablets will swell and seeds can be sown in them.
  5. Place trays with seeds in trays and close.

The egg tray will replace the tray for peat tablets

If there is no suitable container, then a cap for a mini-greenhouse can be made from plastic plastic bottles:

  • Carefully cut transparent bottles.
  • Cut 5 rectangles from the panels for the box (do not forget the allowances for gluing). Choose the size so that the tray with tablets fits freely inside.
  • Glue the box-cap with tape.
  • Use a tray as a tray.

Plastic box

Cake or cookie containers can also be used to grow seedlings. Holes are drilled in the walls for drainage and ventilation, soil is filled in - and the mini-greenhouse is ready for sowing.

Plastic bottles as greenhouses

Waste material - plastic bottles, in the skillful hands of a gardener often turn into useful devices. In addition to irrigation devices, mini-format greenhouses are often made from plastic containers.

Method 1. Greenhouse glass for seedlings:

  1. Cut two bottles in half
  2. Place the upper part into the lower glass of the first bottle and fill it with soil.
  3. Sow the seeds and close the bottle with the second top.
  4. Don't forget about drainage holes.

Method 2. Seedlings in bottles:

  1. Cut a 6-10 liter bottle lengthwise, leaving the thread intact.
  2. Drill holes in both halves
  3. Fill the bottom with soil and sow seeds.
  4. Close and seal the cut with tape.
