What you need to stretch the ceiling. A necessary tool for suspended ceilings. How to care for a suspended ceiling

Installation of suspended ceilings is a process that requires a high-quality and responsible approach at all stages of the work. It will depend on this appearance future design, its compliance with expectations.

Types of suspended ceilings and methods of fastening canvases

The technology for installing suspended ceilings is determined by the types of coatings that are used in finishing. There are two main types of canvases: fabric and film.

Fabric sheets are made from polyester impregnated with polyurethane. The result is a fairly thin but durable coating. It is completely safe for health, not afraid sun rays and mechanical influences.

For this type of ceiling, the following fastening methods are distinguished:

  • glazing bead (wedge) - an economical and simple method, which consists in the fact that at the installation stage the edges of the canvas are inserted into special grooves with which the fastening molding is equipped, after which the material is compacted using glazing beads (or wedges).

The peculiarity of installing fabric suspended ceilings using the glazing bead technology is due to the fact that when cutting the fabric on each side, you need to leave a margin of at least 10 cm so that it stretches well. Excess material is cut off with a knife after completion of installation work. The gaps between the ceiling surface and the walls are masked with decorative tape;

  • Installation using the clip method is also very simple. For this purpose, a special fastening system is used. The edges of the canvases are tucked into latches-clips, which are located along the edges of the profile, and are securely fixed in them. This option involves measuring the exact dimensions of the canvases, but does not require masking the joints between the wall and ceiling surfaces.

Such canvases are installed more often because they cost less, but have more wide range textures and colors. The main disadvantage of the panels is that individual pieces of material have to be welded. As a result, the fabric is not solid, and there are seams on it. However modern production based on the use of high-tech processes, so the seams are practically invisible.

The peculiarity of the installation of such suspended ceiling structures is associated with the use of special equipment. During the installation process, the canvas and the air in the room are heated with a heat gun or a hair dryer. Thanks to this, the material acquires elasticity and is easily stretched.

Film coating options are installed in two ways:

  • glazing bead, when the canvas is mounted by analogy with a fabric stretch ceiling;
  • harpoon IN in this case A special fastening plate (harpoon) is welded around the perimeter of the canvases. With its help, the coating is connected to an aluminum profile. Harpoon stretch ceilings are installed very quickly. Their main advantage is the ability to dismantle the old canvas and install a new one.

But this method is characterized by sagging of the material in the center, which is formed during the operation of the ceiling. Another disadvantage is the high cost.

Types of profiles

Depending on the design features stretch ceiling and the surface to which the profile will be attached are distinguished the following types baguette:

  • wall - used most often. They are fixed to the walls around the perimeter of the room with a pitch between screws of 15-20 cm. The main advantage is that they take only 3-3.5 cm of height from the room;
  • ceiling profiles are also widespread. They are attached to the ceiling. This type a baguette is chosen in cases where there is no possibility of installation wall profiles. In this case, the room loses no more than 2 cm in height. The only inconvenience is the formation of gaps during installation between the walls and the ceiling, but they can be easily masked with decorative tape;
  • special purpose. Such profiles are chosen for complex connections, creating multi-level structures, curved systems;
  • separating – used during installation suspended ceilings indoors large sizes, the area of which exceeds 60 m². They practically eliminate sagging of the panels during operation and allow the installation of complex ceilings formed from several types of panels.

When installing a suspended ceiling, experts take into account the type of surface to which the profile will be attached. The panel weighs a lot, so the wall or ceiling must withstand increased loads. It is best to attach the baguette to metal, concrete or brick bases.

If you intend to mount the structure on a wooden base, then pre-install it around the perimeter additional elements to increase rigidity.

If the system is installed on fragile surfaces, for example, aerated concrete, a wooden beam is first secured to them, to which a baguette is screwed.

To fix the profile to a concrete or brick base, dowels are used, and screws are used to a wooden surface.

Installation of tensile structures always begins with the preparation of rough ceiling surface. Despite the fact that the coating will reliably mask the flaws of the base ceiling, falling plaster can cause the canvas to sag, so carry out a small redecorating have to. To do this you need:

  • clean off old finishes;
  • seal deep cracks and crevices with a mixture of sand and cement, cover small depressions with plaster;
  • cover the ceiling surface with a layer of antiseptic primer.

Now you need to lay the wiring to the locations of the lighting fixtures, leave a few centimeters of wire to connect to the light sources, protect the rest of the cable with corrugations, and fix it to the ceiling base.

For both fabric and film stretch ceilings, first of all, determine the distance from the rough surface to suspended structure. It is calculated taking into account the dimensions of lighting devices. Next, the perimeter is delineated by a straight horizontal line, which acts as a base for attaching the profile.

Baguettes for installation in corners are pre-cut at an angle of 45°, the cut points are processed with a file so as not to damage the integrity of the canvas.

The profiles are installed around the perimeter, and the distance from the joints and corners to the fastening elements should not exceed 3 cm.

The procedure will be as follows:

  • the room is heated using a heat gun to a temperature of 40°C;
  • carefully unfold the canvas, stretch the covering along one diagonal, fix it with clamps, then also stretch it along the other diagonal;
  • heated with a gun PVC film up to 60°C;
  • Use a spatula to tuck the edges of the canvas into the baguette. The main thing is to use a tool with rounded edges so as not to damage the canvas. First, the material is fastened in increments of 8-10 cm, then completely adjusted into the profile;
  • After cooling, the coating will straighten and stretch. If folds appear, they need to be further heated;
  • mask the gaps with decorative plugs;
  • holes are cut for the lamps, protective thermal rings are installed in the slots, and lighting devices are mounted.

The fabric is hung on profiles using clamps. In this case, the material is first fixed in the center. The coating is inserted into the baguette every 60-70 cm, carefully pulling it up by the corners to distribute it evenly under the ceiling. In the corners, the material is attached at the very end. If creases form on the canvas, they are slightly heated with a hair dryer.

If installation was carried out using the clip method, excess fabric is trimmed after installation, and decorative plugs are installed at the joints.

Lighting elements are mounted in the same way as installing devices on a film ceiling.

Thus, installing a suspended ceiling with your own hands is not difficult. To do this you need to purchase necessary materials and tools, and act in accordance with step-by-step instructions. Then you will be able to make a design without defects.

Video of how to install a suspended ceiling

Or a fabric impregnated with polyurethane, which is stretched over a baguette fixed around the perimeter of the room. Thanks to their qualities and aesthetics, every year they become increasingly popular among the population. Therefore, when constructing new, as well as when renovating existing cottages, individual houses, apartments are installed exactly by them.

Types of suspended ceilings

Today there are two types of this coating.

  1. Seamless stretch ceilings are ready-made fabric sheets produced in widths from 2 to 5 m, which makes it possible to install without seams in various rooms up to 5 m in size.
  2. Polyvinyl chloride coatings are made to the exact dimensions of the specific room in which the installation will take place. Their installation technology allows you to solve any design projects, combine multi-colored canvases.

Features of installation of suspended ceilings

The canvas is secured with a special plastic or aluminum baguette around the perimeter of the room. This is a profiled rail that serves as a fastener and is installed on walls, but in some cases it can also be fixed on the ceiling. The texture, type of material, and installation location of the profile influence the choice of device technology and procedure.

The installation of PVC tension sheets differs from the installation of fabric ones. Vinyl surfaces need to be heated before starting work, but seamless ones do not need this. The material they are made of also has some features, which affects the installation process.

It seems that installing suspended coverings is easy and simple. But this is only at first glance. In reality, it will be difficult to correctly install suspended ceilings with your own hands. After all, for this you need to have knowledge and practical experience.

Tools required for installation

A gas gun is a tool for installing suspended ceilings, which requires the ability to work with it. Used for installing polyvinyl chloride sheets. PVC film is made smaller than the ceiling area of the room. In order to stretch it to a given size and secure it in baguettes, it must be heated to 65 ºС. After cooling, it takes the desired shape.

You will also need the following tools for installation:

  • A hammer drill is indispensable for creating holes for dowels, especially in concrete walls.
  • Screwdriver - used for screwing in self-tapping screws.
  • Laser level - it is used for marking, it has high quality and accuracy.

Additional tools

In addition to the above, to install a stretch ceiling you will also need some auxiliary devices:

  • Measuring devices - tape measure, ruler.
  • Clothespins that hold the tension covering suspended.
  • Stepladder of the required height.
  • Special spatulas are used to straighten sheets into baguettes.
  • Miter box - necessary when cutting baguettes at an angle of 45º.
  • Metal detector - needed to detect hidden wiring.
  • A detergent that may be needed when performing various tasks.

Consumables

Before starting work on installing a stretch ceiling, in addition to tools, you should also prepare the following: Consumables, How:

  • hammer drill;
  • screwdriver attachments;
  • profile or plywood;
  • glue, tape and sealing material;
  • stationery knife;
  • feathers on glass, ceramics.

Technology of fastening suspended ceilings

Methods of fastening the structure depend on the surface area, location and number of different decorative elements and lamps. The choice of method is also influenced by the material from which the suspended ceilings are made. The installation technology of their different types is also different.

Ceiling sheets are fixed using one of three existing methods:

  • harpoon;
  • glazing bead;
  • clip-on.

Harpoon method

The harpoon fastening method is used only for those made of PVC. A fastening plate made of polyvinyl chloride film is welded around the perimeter of the canvas, allowing it to be connected to an aluminum baguette. Using this method, it is convenient and not very labor-intensive to install suspended ceilings. The photo will show how the work is done.

Installation is carried out in stages.

  1. Before installing the tensioner, it is necessary to level, putty, paint or wallpaper the walls.
  2. An aluminum baguette is mounted along the entire perimeter of the room on the wall or ceiling, into which the canvas is tucked with a special spatula or spatula.
  3. To stretch suspended ceilings, the installation technology of which allows this to be done, you should heat the material to 65 ºС, using the tool - gas gun. Heating gives elasticity to the coating, which makes it easy to adjust it into the profile rail. After complete cooling, the film stretches and acquires a smooth surface.
  4. Then technological holes are made for various pipes and cables.
  5. After this, lamps and chandeliers are hung.
  6. The final stage of work is the installation

The harpoon method does not require large amounts of time and money to install a stretch ceiling; the price per 1 m2 is acceptable (from 350 rubles). This fastening system is easy to install and dismantle without consequences, if necessary.

Bead (wedge) method

Stretch ceilings manufactured in our country, the installation technology of which does not involve soldering a harpoon, require bead fastening. This method is used for polyvinyl chloride coatings, as well as those made of fine structure fabric. This method does not withstand heavy structures. Therefore, the price for installing a suspended ceiling in this case is much lower than the previous option. The shape of the fastening profile and the technology for fixing the blade differ from the previous version and have the same design.

  1. A plastic wedge - beading - fixes the canvas inside the baguette.
  2. U-shaped aluminum profile(no more than 1.5 cm high) is installed on the wall. It takes on the entire load of the structure.
  3. The tension covering is the visible ceiling surface.
  4. The decorative plinth is inserted into the profile, completely covering it.

The bead fastening system has both pros and cons. Its main advantage is its low cost. The quality of web tension depends only on the professionalism of the worker. Disadvantages - the possibility of weakening the fastening of the coating and the lack of re-installation.

Clip method

Made from fabric, they are secured with a clip method. To fix the tension fabric, an elastic, durable plastic baguette, in which there are no technological grooves. Therefore, there is no need to use decorative elements. The fastening of the canvas is carried out not along the entire perimeter of the room, but in areas without heating. The installation technology of which is very simple and does not require much time to install.

Advantages of this method:

  • there are no technological holes;
  • reliability in fastening;
  • aesthetic appearance;
  • no need to install decorative plinth.

The premises will look simply gorgeous if suspended ceilings are installed in them (photos are presented in the article).

Coverings of this type bring comfort and coziness to the house and pleasantly delight the owners. High-quality work carried out in compliance with the technology for installing suspended ceilings provides them with a long service life.

Installing suspended ceilings is a good solution for city apartments (especially with low ceilings). They will help create a feeling of airiness, volume of space, while hiding flaws and defects of the previous ceiling, protecting it from leaks and noise from the upper floors. And all this - without debris and dust. In addition, these designs look very impressive. You can choose from more than 300 color shades - with effects of mirror, fabric, wood, marble, velvet, Venetian plaster, with a simple, smooth matte surface.

If we talk about the material of the canvas, then we distinguish:

  • made of polyester fabric, which is specially impregnated with polyurethane. All CLIPSO ceilings belong to this type;
  • ceilings made of polyvinyl chloride, which does not contain cadmium and is quite soft (all other ceilings).

Variety of PVC films for suspended ceilings

Depending on how the frame is attached, there are:

1. Harpoon stretch ceilings

A fairly rigid PVC edging is stretched and welded on all sides of the ceiling. If you look at it in cross section, it resembles the shape of a harpoon hook. Hence the name of this method of fastening. Ceilings have long been of this type famous brands eg EXTENZO, BARRISOL, NEWMAT, CARRE NOIR, NOVELUM. Recently, this list has been supplemented by several brands that have appeared on the market in Russia, such as DPS, DECKENFEST, DECOMAT.

Scheme of installation and fastening of suspended ceilings

2. Harpoonless stretch ceilings

They are divided into several categories-subclasses. For example, MONDEA ceilings from the Netherlands are fastened using a wedge method. In this case, the edges of the canvas are heated and straightened, then clamped using a special spacer profile. This method is somewhat similar to the process of embroidering on a hoop. When PVC film is attached to two surfaces shaped like a semicircle. These mounting "cams" are included in fastening profile, That's why this method is called the cam method. When the film is pushed with a spatula, these “cams” diverge, and when they try to pull it back, they automatically compress. This method is used to install ceilings of the SKOL and PRESTIGE DESIGN brands.

Fastening profile, which is used when this method, there is a real opportunity to reduce the loss of ceiling height by 8 mm. French CLIPSO ceilings made of polyester are attached using a flexible cord.

What else you should know about PVC

A fairly large number of requirements are imposed on a suspended ceiling. Which include:

  • its strength, odorlessness, environmental safety and lightness;
  • It is also very important that the material used can be painted in any color without any problems. Polyvinyl chloride film and polyester fabric meet all these requirements perfectly.

You also need to know (about PVC) that

  • polyvinyl chloride film weighs from 180 to 320 g/sq.m., and the thickness usually does not exceed 0.35 mm;
  • weighted average sound absorption coefficient - no more than 0.4;
  • the pressure that the film can withstand reaches 1000 Pa;
  • tensile strength reaches a limit of 30 N equally in the longitudinal and transverse directions;
  • relative elongation to break reaches 220%;
  • The light absorption coefficient depends on the type of ceiling. If the ceilings are “varnish”, then the coefficient is 30%, and if “velvet”, then 95%;
  • this film is waterproof and fire-resistant;
  • depending on the temperature it can change its physical properties. For example, if you drop the temperature below 0 degrees Celsius, it becomes brittle and hard. However, if you increase the temperature again, it will still be flexible and elastic. If the film is kept at temperatures less than 40 degrees Celsius, it begins to deteriorate;
  • PVC film is quite resistant to heat and can withstand temperatures, while maintaining its properties, up to 90 degrees Celsius;
  • this material can be dyed wonderfully, and the color range includes up to 100 shades;
  • The surface of the film can also be almost any: from matte with or without shallow embossing, with a leather effect, marble, wood, metal, with holes, with a satin fabric effect or a glossy surface. In general, the presence of various color solutions depends on trademark canvases;
  • the film can be from 1.3 meters to 2.2 meters wide, depending on the nature and characteristics of the production;
  • due to the fact that it can be easily welded, it is very easy to make canvases even up to 6 or 8 m wide. In this case, the seams are practically invisible. It is not recommended to make more than 8 m of canvas. Otherwise, it is not possible to avoid sagging of the canvas in the middle part.

The advantage of polyester fabric ceilings is stability, lack of deformation and sagging

What you need to know about polyester fabric is that it:

  • thinner and lighter than PVC. Its weight does not exceed 200g/sq.m, and its thickness is no more than 0.25 mm;
  • advantage of this material is that it is impregnated with a special composition, thanks to which the dimensions of the fabric are more stable than those of the film;
  • the elasticity of the fabric is maintained even at a temperature of minus 30 degrees Celsius;
  • Usually the canvas is made 4 m wide, but upon special order it is possible to produce a five-meter cloth. And even in this case there will be no seam on the ceiling;
  • polyurethane does not undergo a welding process, so if there is a need to make the fabric wider than standard, it is usually stitched or pieces of material are connected using a special profile;
  • The main disadvantage of polyester fabric is that it cannot be dyed until installation. Typically, such a ceiling is left matte white or painted after all installation work is completed, for example, a drawing is applied or the entire surface is simply tinted;
  • It is also not possible to select the texture of the ceiling surface.

Technology for installing suspended ceilings

Stretch ceiling various types have their own characteristics and subtleties of installation technology.

1. First of all, the specialists of the company installing the ceiling take measurements.
2. Then the canvas is brought to the site (this usually happens within 1 to 30 days).
3. At the same time, at the facility itself by this time it is necessary:

  • in those places where ceilings will be fastened, the walls must be strong, in the same plane, straight and undamaged;
  • All Decoration Materials such as drywall, ceramic tile etc., must be very securely fastened;
  • if you intend to install ceiling molding, then the ceiling itself must be in the same plane.
  • finish everything construction works, all garbage must be removed, summed up cable lines to the installation sites of lamps that provide voltage switching on and off;
  • the room must be heated during the operation of the ceiling and maintain a certain temperature regime at the time of its installation;
    If all these conditions are met, the installation of the ceiling begins.

Main stages of work

  1. First, using a hydraulic level and a paint cord, mark the mounting points on the base ceiling and walls.
  2. Next, the fabric in the package is heated using a heat gun and gradually straightened.
  3. Then, using special clips, the canvas is attached to the baguette.
  4. Using a special spatula, the first - the so-called “red” corner of this canvas is harpooned into the baguette.
  5. Then the canvas is heated diagonally to 70 degrees Celsius and the already soft film is stretched.
  6. Next, insert the harpoon into the groove ceiling profile in the opposite corner.
  7. This whole procedure is done with each diagonal and on all sides of the edging.
  8. After the film has cooled, it is already securely connected to the fasteners around the entire perimeter.

Installation of suspended ceilings: standard sequence technological stages

Wedge installation

  1. If the ceiling is installed using a wedge method, then the exact dimensions and calculations are not so important. It is necessary to know the width and length of the room, because the canvas itself should be wider than the distance between the walls by about 10 - 15 cm.
  2. They always make a rectangular canvas, and the fitting is carried out directly in the room itself.
  3. In a special profile, which can be mounted on both walls and ceilings, the pre-hung canvas is secured using special plastic wedges.
  4. Excess fabric that may protrude from under the fastening profile is cut off, and the jammed areas are covered with a special decorative strip, reminiscent of an elegant plinth. It has a flexible sealed part that snaps into the profile, so that the canvas fits tightly to the wall.

If you strictly follow the entire sequence during the installation of the ceiling, you will ensure the absence of folds and straightness of the seams.

This method of installing the ceiling is much more complicated than the harpoon method, and dismantling it is also more difficult. But it also has a number undeniable advantages.

  1. For example, if you need to make a ceiling as a single canvas, and the area exceeds 100 square meters, then this is the only option, since it is possible to adjust the degree of tension.
  2. Also, if there are difficulties in accurately determining the size of the room, or changes in the size of the ceiling are expected, which also makes it difficult to specify certain parameters, this method is perfect.
  3. When fastening occurs using the cam method or using a flexible cord, the whole process is quite similar to the wedge method. The only difference is in the fasteners themselves. And the canvases are also made with a reserve, and during the installation process they are adjusted to size.

Classification of suspended ceiling structures according to fastening methods and fabric materials

  1. Depending on the material and installation technology of the ceiling, sagging is possible, which forces you to limit the size of the ceiling, and the amount of permissible sagging itself does not exceed 1% of the length of the diagonal of the canvas. In other words, if the canvas measures 5 * 6 m, then the edges can be only 4 cm above the center. But if an additional support is installed at the place where the chandelier is attached, then the center sags even less.
  2. Several canvases are made if the ceiling is supposed to be multi-level, the area of the cams and harpoon ceilings more than 50 m2, and for wedge ones more than 120 m2. An intermediate support is made, to which individual sheets are attached using a special profile.
  3. But the most difficult in terms of labor intensity is the three-dimensional or 3D ceiling. First, the frame is designed. It is then ordered from individual parts aluminum profile. Then such a frame is installed at the bottom of the walls and ceilings. Initially, this design is somewhat reminiscent of an openwork bridge. The process and technology for manufacturing individual panels in this case is much more complicated and takes longer than when installing a flat ceiling.
  4. To prevent the accumulation of moisture and condensation between the old ceiling and the canvas, holes are made in the profile for ventilation. Ideally, you need to install it in the canvas ventilation grates. This way it will always happen forced exhaust. And if the room area is more than 35 sq. m., then such a measure is simply necessary.
  5. When installing a stretch ceiling, you can use halogen lamps, fluorescent lamps or conventional incandescent lamps. When installing lamps in the ceiling, it is necessary to limit their power. For example, for a regular and fluorescent lamp the power should not be higher than 60 W, for halogen lamps it should not be higher than 20 - 35 W.
  6. You also need to comply with certain requirements when installing 12 W lamps. There is a need to use special transformers, otherwise the ceiling may sag due to the increased softness of the PVC film.
  7. Eat different variants for mounting high-power lamps that are used during work. To limit heat transfer, it is necessary to ensure a distance between the lamp and the ceiling of at least 1 mm. If transformers are used, they are mounted in the lower plane of the structure, and then the mounting profile needs to be lowered by 5 - 7 cm.
  8. The company that installs the ceiling usually guarantees its work for up to 10 years, subject to maintenance temperature regime within 0 - 50 degrees Celsius. The guarantee covers color preservation, absence of cracks, wrinkles and sagging of the canvas. Even if the ceiling was flooded from above with water or was accidentally pierced.

Fastening the stretch ceiling begins from the corner of the room

If you follow all the technologies according to the instructions, then you have every chance of installing the suspended ceiling correctly, without defects. Special attention Pay attention to the selection of high-quality certified material.

– an excellent finishing option for any kitchen, because this cladding is practical, durable and aesthetically pleasing. And it is natural that everyone who makes a choice in its favor is interested in the question - how to install the ceiling with your own hands? And is this even real? The answer is clear - yes, the tension fabric can be installed without the help of professionals. The main thing is to know the technology and understand all stages of work. Next, we invite you to learn about these rules, as well as watch the accompanying photos and videos of the installation, which will greatly facilitate your task of transforming the kitchen.

Installation tools

To install a stretch ceiling in the kitchen you will need the following tools:

  • heat gun;
  • building level;
  • perforator;
  • gas cylinder for a gun;
  • ladder;
  • screws and dowels;
  • Screwdriver Set;
  • hammer
  • locking locks;
  • a knife with a set of blades of different formats;
  • spatula

After preparing the necessary tools, proceed to selecting materials. First calculate the area and perimeter kitchen ceiling, and then go buy baguettes, ceiling sheets and soundproofing materials.

Baguettes are plastic or aluminum strips that together form a fixing profile. If you want the ceiling in your kitchen to delight you with its functionality for as long as possible, do not skimp and choose an aluminum profile - it is stronger and more reliable than a plastic one.

The ceiling canvas is fabric or vinyl material, which will be stretched onto the profile. For kitchen would be better suited vinyl, as it is more practical.

Soundproofing materials are mineral wool or slabs that will protect you from noise from the neighboring upper apartment. It should be noted that sound insulation is only a matter of comfort, since even without it the ceilings will successfully cope with their immediate functions.

Preparatory work

The second stage of arranging a suspended ceiling in the kitchen is the roughing procedure. First you need to clear the room of furniture and equipment that will not withstand the effects of a heat gun. Then you need to clean the ceiling of old coating and various types of dirt.

If there are tile joints, they should be filled polyurethane foam. The entire surface of the ceiling must be treated with a primer - it will protect the surface from fungus and mold. If the ceiling is too deformed, it is better to cover it with plasterboard - this way you will get a perfect level base For tension fabric.

On at this stage Sound and heat insulation is also installed, if necessary, and air ducts for ventilation and other communications are installed.

Advice. Decide in advance where and how they will be attached ceiling lamps– it is important to install the mortgages for them precisely at the stage of roughing procedures, so that in the future there will be no problems with the installation of the lighting devices themselves.

Setting up a profile

The third stage is installation of baguettes. They can be installed in two ways: to the wall or to the ceiling. We recommend choosing a wall mount, since with a ceiling mount it is impossible to hide the necessary kitchen communications and wiring under the tension structure.

The installation procedure for baguettes includes the following work:

  • decide on the height of the future ceiling and, using a building level, make markings on the walls around the entire perimeter of the room;
  • According to the finished markings, attach the first baguette to the surface of the wall and drill holes in it for self-tapping screws;
  • install the dowels into the prepared holes and secure the strip with self-tapping screws;
  • install the second baguette end-to-end to the first and also secure with self-tapping screws;
  • install all subsequent strips in the same way.

Advice. To ensure that the ends of the planks fit together as tightly as possible, file them in advance at a slight angle - approximately 30 degrees. And the ends of the corner baguettes need to be sawn at 45 degrees.

Ceiling panel installation

The fourth stage of work is direct tensioning of the canvas. Before starting the procedure, be sure to warm the room with a heat gun to 40°C. Further work is performed in this order:

  • Unpack and straighten the material. Warm up the panel with a gun.

Attention! If you are using fabric rather than traditional PVC canvas, you cannot heat it!

  • Secure the first base corner using “crocodiles” - special clips covered with soft material that prevents the canvas from deforming. Which ceiling angle is the base one is indicated in the instructions for the suspended ceiling. The kit should also come with clamps.
  • Fix the second angle - opposite to the base one.
  • Secure the third and fourth corners.

  • Gently heat the canvas again. Remove the clamp from the base corner. Insert the spatula into the blade shell through the special groove. Begin to slowly insert the canvas into the baguette and secure it with locking locks. Insert the canvas into the profile at all other corners in the same way.
  • Secure the canvas in the profile along straight sections, using the same locks and spatula.
  • Unfold the canvas and check all fastenings.
  • Install the lamps: in in the right places where the embedded parts are prepared, carefully cut the holes and install the devices.

As you can see, installing suspended ceilings in the kitchen with your own hands is not an easy task, but absolutely doable. Stick to proven technology and do not neglect installation rules - this is the only way you can get a high-quality result that compensates for the effort, money and time spent.

Tension fabrics can become excellent option finishing of the ceiling space. By using tension structure you can hide defects in the base ceiling, disguise elements of various communications, including ventilation and electrical wiring. In addition to this, there are many other advantages. Stretch ceilings have different textures and colors, so they suit any interior design style.

Ordering the installation of a stretch ceiling from specialized organizations can be very expensive. Therefore, to save family budget You can install a suspended ceiling structure with your own hands.

Material selection rules

A special fabric or polyvinyl chloride film can be used as the main fabric of the tension structure, so the ceiling can be fabric or film. Each material has its own characteristics and characteristics, depending on which the method of installing the ceiling and its operating conditions are determined. It is also important to understand how to install suspended ceilings made of fabric or film.

At the core fabric ceilings The material is made of polyester with a special polyurethane impregnation, which makes the material strong, durable and wear-resistant. Front surface the canvas can be plain, with various patterns and designs, and even in the form of a painting. The features of fabric ceilings impose restrictions on their area of use, so several optimal places. This could be a living room, bedroom, office or children's room.

In most cases, polyvinyl chloride sheets have glossy surface, which makes the room more solemn and beautiful. PVC film is not afraid of moisture, so incoming splashes of water cannot spoil its characteristics; the appearance of the ceiling in this case also remains unchanged. Thanks to this property, a suspended ceiling made of PVC film can be safely installed in the bathroom, kitchen and other rooms with critical humidity levels. When choosing a polyvinyl chloride fabric, you should remember that cheaper options are characterized by the release of an unpleasant chemical odor, which can be harmful to human health. Therefore, installing ceilings made of such material is highly undesirable in bedrooms and children's rooms.

The process of deciding how to install a suspended ceiling largely depends on the characteristics and features of the material that was used to make the main fabric. There are several differences in the installation of fabric and film ceilings, which you need to learn about in more detail before performing the installation process yourself.

Methods for installing suspended ceilings

Before you begin installing a suspended ceiling structure in a room, you need to study how suspended ceilings are installed. Harpoon technology can be called more complex, but in this case it turns out more reliable design. The installation difficulties lie in attaching the harpoons to the film, which is done using special equipment. This procedure can only be performed by professional craftsmen who have experience working with high-tech equipment, so the cost of installing the canvas in this way is quite high.

Self-installation of polyvinyl chloride film is carried out using the wedge method, in this case special wedges or glazing beads are used. Before installing a suspended ceiling, it is necessary to install a special rigid frame around the perimeter of the room, which is made in the form of a specially shaped profile. The canvas is inserted into a baguette and fixed in it using special wedges or glazing beads.

There is a mounting option using clip clamps. With this method, the film is inserted inside the profile and closed, thanks to this the film is firmly fixed inside the profile. You can secure the canvas in a baguette in different ways.

Canvases made of fabric with special treatment can be installed with your own hands without much difficulty; you just need to know how to install a suspended ceiling. Installation involves the use of a rigid frame in which the canvas is fixed.

The main difference in the installation of fabric and film sheets is the method of stretching the material.

Preparing to install a tensile structure

To ensure high-quality performance of work on installing a suspended ceiling structure, you must strictly follow the instructions, according to which the first stage requires preparatory activities, including studying the question of how suspended ceilings are installed in an apartment.

It is recommended to remove as much furniture as possible from the room. The walls must be puttied and finishing. The ceiling surface also requires preparation. Old whitewash or the paint should be removed to avoid an unpleasant moment during the operation of the stretch ceiling. The fact is that over time the old coating can peel off from the base ceiling and spoil the appearance of the stretched canvas.

If ceiling made of reinforced concrete slabs, then it is necessary to seal the seams between them with putty. You should also pay attention to the walls where the frame is installed; they should be as smooth as possible so that installing the profile does not cause difficulties.

In addition, preliminary preparation for solving the issue of how to install a suspended ceiling involves carrying out communications along the ceiling and connecting wires for lighting devices, the installation of which requires compliance with certain instructions. For the chandelier, it is necessary to prepare a solid base that should not touch the surface of the tension fabric. A hook for the chandelier is attached to the base. If the distance between the main and suspended ceiling is too large, the installed hook is extended using an additional metal chain.

Tools and materials for work

The installation of a suspended ceiling structure can be carried out efficiently and quickly using a certain set of tools and equipment. In particular we're talking about about the following:

  • Hammer.
  • Screwdriver,
  • Roulette, building level.
  • A set of special blades, with the help of which the canvas is tucked into the profile. The blade should be of two types: straight and angular.

Depending on the operating conditions of the stretch ceiling, it is necessary to select the type of main fabric.

You also need to choose the right profiles, which can be plastic or aluminum. Don't forget about additional components. These can be multi-colored inserts, clips and various accessories.

To stretch the polyvinyl chloride film you will need a heat gun or construction hair dryer, with the help of these devices you can correctly install a suspended ceiling.

Installation of baguettes

The first step in the stretch ceiling installation scheme is marking the walls; this stage requires maximum care and accuracy. Measure the height of the walls in each corner and determine the most minimum distance from floor to main ceiling. This must be done for one reason: in some apartments the difference in height can be more than 5 cm. The space required for communications and installation of lighting devices is taken away from the smallest distance. The result obtained is marked on the wall and using laser level beat off a line that will determine the location of the main profile.

Using dowels and screws, the baguette is fixed to the wall in accordance with the intended level. The distance between fasteners should not be left more than 7 cm. For more comfortable work Many craftsmen first glue the profile to the wall to achieve its realism.

The process of stretching the main fabric

At first glance, solving the problem of how to install a suspended ceiling is not particularly difficult, and therefore does not take much time. In fact, the duration of the process is determined by several factors, including the experience and knowledge of the master. It is worth noting that professional workers can install a suspended ceiling structure in one day, simply home handyman this will take several days.

Before starting installation work, it is necessary to remove the film from its packaging and heat the air in the room to approximately 40 0 C. It is necessary to remove from the room all objects with sharp edges that could cause damage to the polyvinyl chloride film.

First, special clamps are installed, securing them in the corners of the room. Work should begin in one of the corners where the first edge of the film is fixed. Then the edge of the film is secured in the opposite corner, and similar actions are performed in the remaining corners.

To make the film more elastic, it should be heated. For this purpose, use a hair dryer or heat gun, directing the heat flow from these devices towards the web. Next, the film is tucked into the profile, gradually moving from one corner to another. Finally, remove the clothespins and tuck the remaining edges of the film into the baguette.

The final step will be to install decorative skirting boards around the perimeter of the ceiling. Buy decorative elements You can get it at any hardware store.

Installation of lighting devices

Chandeliers are installed in several ways. Moreover, the base for it or a regular lamp is mounted immediately before the installation of the tension fabric begins.

The chandelier hook must have a length that takes into account the distance from base surface to the tension fabric. Therefore, if the size is insufficient, the hook is lengthened, and a steel chain is used to strengthen the structure.

If there is no hook for the chandelier, the installation of a special platform is required, which is selected depending on the dimensions and weight of the lighting device. For a small lamp, you can use two glazing beads to secure the platform to. The selected lighting device is fixed on it. Chandelier big size will have significant weight, so the platform should have not two, but four supports. In any case, the base should not touch the stretched polyvinyl chloride sheet.

To directly install the chandelier, all steps must be performed in a certain order. So that the film does not tear or deform under weight lighting fixture, a number of preparatory measures are required. Firstly, they purchase special plastic rings that secure the edges of the hole for a lamp or chandelier. The ring is glued in the place where the base for the chandelier or hook is installed, and wait for the glue to dry. After that stationery knife cut out the fabric inside the ring and pull out the power supply wire.

Then the lighting fixture is connected to electricity and secured to the platform or hung on a hook. The mounting point is covered with a decorative overlay or a special cap, which most often comes complete with a chandelier or lamp.

When installing several spotlights, it is also necessary to use protective plastic rings.

Security measures

Installing a film stretch ceiling requires the use of special equipment, so it is very important to follow safety precautions and understand how to properly install a stretch ceiling.

Heating with a heat gun occurs using gas from a cylinder. Such equipment is classified as explosive, so it is important to use only serviceable cylinders. After the expiration date, the use of the gun is strictly prohibited. To refill the cylinder, it is recommended to use the services of a specialized organization.

Before you start heating the air with a heat gun, you should check the hoses for any malfunctions. If a gas leak is detected, the equipment must be sent to a repair shop.

In the process of heating the air in the room, it is prohibited to direct the heat flow to the cylinder in order to avoid disastrous consequences. Subject to all operating rules gas equipment the master can count on complete safety. Otherwise, you can not only damage the equipment, but also cause harm to human health.

Stretch ceilings with fabric fabric

Stretch ceiling structures based on fabric fabric are installed less frequently due to the characteristics of the material. However, every home craftsman should know how to properly install suspended ceilings.

Fabric sheets are a seamless material; their width can be about 5 meters. Thanks to this, installation of ceilings is possible in almost any room.

The installation of fabric suspended ceilings is carried out without special equipment, so the process can be carried out independently. Since ceiling installation does not require heating, the room temperature can be normal.

In general, the work is carried out by analogy with structures based on polyvinyl chloride. First, measurements are taken of the walls, then the level of the stretch ceiling is measured. Installation of a fabric ceiling continues with the fastening of profiles, and the most durable products should be purchased. The profile is fastened using dowels or self-tapping screws, which allows the product to be more tightly fixed to the wall.

The tension of the fabric begins in the middle of one of the walls, then moves to the opposite wall and then fastens the fabric to the remaining walls. The result should be a kind of cross made of fabric. After this, they begin to stretch the material in the corners, while simultaneously tucking the fabric into the profile using a special spatula. If excess pieces of fabric are formed, they can be trimmed using a sharp knife. During installation, it is necessary to avoid the formation of folds on the canvas.

With a responsible approach to studying the technology for installing tension ceiling structures You can do everything yourself in the future installation processes. By following the recommendations of professional craftsmen on how to install suspended ceilings, you can achieve high-quality results. Compliance with safety regulations will allow you to keep your property safe and not cause harm to your health.
