For starters, for the amateur self-made furniture, you should learn how to create a stool, since it is the easiest. And then it’s time to study the issue of creating a table.
Table designs vary, however, the simple version is very similar to the process of creating a stool.
A simple table for use in the country or during a picnic can be assembled in just a few hours. To do this you will need a hacksaw, hammer or drill.
However, a table based on a similar approach can be made for a living space. Since it is able to perfectly replace the current very great option, purchased at a retail outlet or furniture store.
The process of creating a table yourself is interesting on the other hand, because with its help the author has freedom of creative expression. It can be presented as a noticeable element of the interior of the room.
Creators of handmade amateur furniture are called carpenters for a reason. The usual definitions like: sofa holders or bedside tables, or maybe cabinets, do not apply to them.
Having gained experience in this area, over time it will be possible to create exclusive types of tables with advanced characteristics.
Now let's consider the issue of creating wood-based tables yourself.
Wood is clean and affordable, and is not as difficult to process as other materials. It conveys the maximum energy of the aesthetic filling of the style of the living room.
Due to its properties, it is lenient towards the mistakes of beginners in the field of independent furniture creation. However, thinner versions of the tables will require an advanced level of craftsmanship.
To begin with, having learned to work with wooden things, then it will be easier to use glass, plastic or even metal as a material.
To study independent creation tables or other wooden elements furniture, it is necessary to use only non-residential premises.
This is due to the specifics of working with wood. It leads to the formation large quantity dust, shavings and other waste.
And the process of tinting or creating protection for a material based on stain can create dangerous emissions into the air. Actually, nitro varnishes can also be dangerous.
Because of this, for a personal carpentry workshop you will have to take care of ventilation of the room. Experts advise creating artificial ventilation of the room.
Many people use a garage for this, however, production waste can pollute or damage the car, so this is not the best option.
For the most part, to begin with, you can limit yourself to a simple carpentry tool, however, later you may need modern versions in the form of:
And there is also a regular belt sander for grooves with recessed areas, which is distinguished by a protruding version of the working part.
Such instruments stand out due to their price and narrow specialization to complete the work, experienced craftsmen recommend renting them for a short period of time.
The most the best specialists, using various grinding machines can even create the effect artificial aging wood, however, is a very difficult job for beginners.
For creating wooden table Any wood that is moderately resistant to decay will work well, however, you should refrain from soft versions like poplar, willow, ailanthus wood, aspen and even alder.
Of the domestic types of wood, it is best to use:
I would like to decorate a table and probably all types of furniture created with my own hands with an artistic version of painting, and not with ordinary stripes.
However, over time, the design may deteriorate; to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to rub the paint into the depths of the wood before the varnishing process. This can be done using the technique of glazing. We are talking about layer-by-layer rubbing of the paints used.
Many things can be done with your own hands. This is difficult in most cases, only at first glance. The new review collected examples of unique and amazing coffee tables that craftsmen made with their own hands.
Old suitcases are real finds for designers and out-of-the-box thinkers. Through simple manipulations, suitcases are transformed into unique furniture and decorative items. For example, you can turn an unnecessary suitcase into an original one coffee table, simply screwing the legs to it. This table will add charm to both a bachelor’s apartment and a family living room decorated in a classic style.
Have you purchased new batteries? However, do not rush to throw away your old cast iron radiator. Buy a piece of glass and turn it old battery into an original coffee table, which you definitely won’t see either in the store or with your friends.
A stunning low table can be made from small logs. First you need to assemble the base of the table from plywood, glue it around the perimeter wooden beams, and cover the middle with a plywood lid. Next, you need to glue thin wooden cuts onto the plywood lid so that it seems as if the table is made entirely of logs, screw on the legs and carefully seal all the cracks.
Wooden pallets- an excellent material for creating your own different furniture: sofas, beds, chairs and of course tables. To begin with, you should get a pallet, clean it thoroughly and paint it in the desired color. All that’s left is to screw the legs and put the glass tabletop on top.

It seems like people lived without coffee tables and can continue to live. But if you look at the thing from a different angle, it turns out that the interior becomes more perfect and complete, and the thing turns out to be very comfortable. I talked on the phone and put my mobile phone on the table. I read a book - it’s convenient to leave it on the table so that I can return to reading soon. Do I need to go and buy the product?
The more complex the design, the more difficulties await in the work
To create a table, they take into account their physical and financial capabilities, the availability of the necessary materials and tools, their handling skills and free time.
Even those people who did not study drawing at school are faced with the need to work from drawings. To make some models, a drawing may not be required, but for a do-it-yourself wooden coffee table you cannot do without it.
The tabletop determines not only appearance products, but also room decor. It is not at all necessary to make a standard rectangular or square tabletop; its shape can be unique. Also, the type of countertop serves as a determining factor for which style the product will suit. It’s more difficult to work with glass without skills; if you don’t have any, it’s better to turn to a professional. The legs must be strong and be able to easily support not only the weight of the tabletop, but also the objects placed on top. The type of legs matches the style of the tabletop.Tabletop

The more complex the drawing, the more attention is needed in the work.
A coffee table made of plywood is made in a short time. Advice for inexperienced craftsmen: cutting of all parts can be ordered at a building materials store. Based on the sheet thickness of 18 mm, we order 800×800 mm - tabletop, 460×100 mm - four slats, 700×500 mm - shelf, 700×500 mm - two bottoms, four plastic corners, eight confirmations and 3.5× self-tapping screws 16 mm (16 pieces should be enough). All elements must be covered with melamine edge.
Let's move on to the assembly:
Advice! If desired, this table can be mounted on wheeled supports.
For lovers of everything airy and spacious, a glass model is suitable. If you don’t have the skills to handle glass, it’s better to choose a table without unnecessary details.

Beloved by many creative people The topic is how to use available materials for practical use. Products made from tires are especially popular - they are convenient to install in dachas and verandas, and from suitcases that have served their time as travelers.
There are different ideas on how to use tires as a table. The good news is that such products are durable, original and take minimal time to manufacture.
Here small instructions on creating a garden furniture set with a small table at the head.
Illustration | Description of action |
---|---|
Prepare 11 tires of the same diameter. We take two tires on the chair and connect them using a screwdriver and self-tapping screws. For the table we take three tires. | |
We cut out 4 circles from plywood (pressed shavings) slightly larger than the inner diameter of the tire, and one large circle for the table top. | |
The result is a cute garden set. |
Do you happen to have an old suitcase? How wonderful!
So, what is needed for such a rapid transformation? Four stable legs of any type - the main thing is that they are combined with the final decor option and easily support the product. Legs can be bought on Avito or torn off from old unnecessary furniture and made on lathe. You can use white enamel for painting, as it is easy to decorate. But, in general, the color can be any, even gilding. If the exterior of the suitcase is perfectly preserved, then you don’t have to paint it. If desired, you also need PVA glue, decoupage napkins, brushes, sandpaper, gold or silver acrylic.
First, paint the base and let it dry. All irregularities are sanded and a second layer of enamel is applied. Now we paint the legs and, as soon as they are dry, glue them to the base with furniture glue. That's all the work! We turn the table over and admire the result of our labor.
If the housewife loves rearranging, or the table needs to be moved, wheel supports are attached to the legs as an additional element. It is very comfortable. If the table is small, then it can be served for tea in the kitchen and rolled into the living room. Other additional and functional element are drawers. It turns out that the table becomes doubly more comfortable.
To create a coffee table on wheels with your own hands, you need ready-made wheel supports. A small photo gallery of tables on wheels: they don’t have to be small, large metal or plastic wheels look even more interesting!
The wheels are attached to the legs when the supports themselves are already attached to the tabletop.
There can be from one to three or four drawers, it depends on the table model.
To assemble a simple box, you need 4 small chipboard panels, wood glue, guides, and self-tapping screws.
After securing all the guides, check the smoothness and accuracy of movement. Then we assemble the box and simply insert it into the guides.
DIY coffee table decor is limited by the imagination of the creator. Any fantasy can be realized with effort. The decor must be selected to match the style of the room, otherwise dissonance will make the item superfluous. But if you don’t want to make a new coffee table with your own hands? Then you need to find out how to restore the old one.
Decoupage - interesting technique using PVA glue and beautiful napkins. If you want to make decoupage look antique, then use crackle varnish.
The photo below is the answer to the question of how to update a coffee table with your own hands.
If the furniture needs updating due to its condition, then the first step is to turn the table over onto the tabletop and check the fastening of the support legs. If something needs to be corrected, there is no point in delaying it - the furniture will continue to deteriorate faster. You can simply repaint the table, sand it and try painting it.
PVA is applied to the tabletop and scraps are laid. At first the leaves may lie unevenly, but as they dry they will level out. Finally, the product is varnished.

A coffee table is an optional piece of furniture. Moreover, its presence makes any living room more comfortable. You can put a newspaper on the table, put a cup of tea or coffee. We will make this piece of furniture ourselves, making it truly original and comfortable.
The very first coffee table was created in the mid-19th century in England. Within a couple of decades, this furniture adorned the living rooms of all European houses. In the 20th century, fashion came to our country. True, in Russia the tables we are interested in are called coffee tables, not coffee tables. But this does not change the essence of the matter. This piece of furniture means small table ik no more than 40–50 cm high, which can have any ergonomics, appearance and design. It all depends on consumer preferences.
In furniture stores, low tables are sold in a wide range. You can find both an inexpensive design and a designer item that can make any interior chic and unusual. But many home craftsmen want to make an original table themselves, using a variety of available materials. We put a piece of our soul into homemade furniture. This means that it will turn out to be really comfortable and will be able to fill your home with comfort and warmth.
Coffee tables are made of wood and glass. Also unusual and beautiful designs can actually be assembled from:
There are a lot of options for making a table for tea parties. You just need to show your imagination and listen to advice experienced craftsmen who are engaged in independent decoration of their homes. Next, we will describe the most popular ways to construct coffee tables. And you will choose the most suitable option.
Chipboards are the most available material for creating . Chipboards can be processed without problems, are easily cut to the required sizes, and have affordable price. To assemble low tables, it is recommended to use laminated boards, as they are characterized by an attractive appearance, and the products made from them are durable. There are many sites on the Internet where it is not difficult to find various drawings with dimensions for making furniture from chipboard. We suggest making a table based on the sketches below.
Our planned design consists of the following elements:
We will fasten the indicated elements with cofirmats; you will need 8 of them, and 16 3.5x16 mm.
We make the table step by step. First (position 1 in the diagram) we make a shelf from chipboard (preferably, as mentioned, laminated) board. We do cutting electric jigsaw, using a file with small steps. Such a tool will eliminate the possibility of chipping. Then (position 2) we attach the planks to the tabletop (we place them on plastic corners). We mount a shelf in the center of the vertically installed slats (item 3). We make holes in it with a cross section of 4.5 mm (you will need a drill with an appropriate drill bit). We fix the shelf with confirmations. Without them, our tea table may not be very stable and reliable in use. Using confirmations, we screw the bottom of the structure (item 4).
After this, screw on the legs (item 5). They are attached not from the very edges of the table, but at a distance of about 15 mm from them. Instead of legs, it is allowed to install small wheels (fixed with self-tapping screws). Then we will have a mobile coffee table that can be moved throughout the home. All that remains is to bring home-made furniture to mind. We glue all the visible joints of our table with melamine edge. Visually, a structure made of laminated chipboard will look perfect! By the way, instead of wood chips, you can use MDF (wood fiber products). The result will be approximately the same.
The interiors, designed in a modern theme, are perfectly complemented by compact tables from glass. They are installed on wooden or chrome-plated legs. It is advisable to use frosted glass. It usually has special film, protecting the tabletop from mechanical damage. In addition, on frosted glass stains from carelessly spilled tea, coffee, other drinks and fingerprints will not be so noticeable.
The recommended tabletop width is up to 120 cm. There is no need to build a table with large parameters. It will be difficult to fit into the interior standard apartment or a small private house. Choose any design shape. But if you are making a glass coffee table with your own hands for the first time, it is better to choose a rectangular configuration. We can buy chrome legs at a furniture store. And it’s easy to make components from wood yourself. Table drawing with standard sizes presented below.
Let's get to work. First, we cut out the glass according to the given geometric parameters. This operation must be performed slowly. Place the glass on flat surface. We are planning with a simple pencil cutting lines. Wet the glass cutter sunflower oil(or other lubricant). Apply a metal ruler to the marked line. Carefully (without strong pressure) we go through the markings with a glass cutter. Then we move the glass from the surface, ensuring that the excess pieces of material are suspended. We tap our fingers along the marking line and press lightly. After these steps, unnecessary parts of the glass are broken strictly along the lines made.
The cut material must be processed. First, we clean the edges of the glass with a file, then with a grinder equipped with a diamond tool. Additionally, it is recommended to sand potentially unsafe parts of the glass with sandpaper (fine grain). Then we take thin felt, mount it on the edges of the tabletop and press it against it. This way we will protect our furniture from scratches. Turn the table face down. We make marks for mounting the legs. It is advisable to install them at a distance of at least 50 mm from the edges of the tabletop.
We drill holes at the top of the bases of all legs. They will be needed to attach the suction cup. Everything is simple here. We treat the suction cups with adhesive, install them in the prepared holes, and press the elements as tightly as possible. After the glue has set, turn it over homemade design to normal position and wait about two days. After 48 hours, the coffee table will be ready for use.
Wooden tea tables are suitable for any living space, no matter what type of decor is implemented in them. Wood products look great in both classic and modern interiors. Do wooden furniture DIY is really simple. Moreover, we can build a table of any design - the simplest one, with many additional drawers, stands, shelves. At the right approach To get to the point, we will end up with a piece of furniture that is no different from expensive store-bought tables.
We will not offer a drawing of a wooden structure. Any craftsman is able to draw up a simple sketch of such a structure with the required dimensions. But let’s say a few words about the materials and tools that will be needed to complete the work. Stocking up:
Let's start creating. We cut thick boards to the required sizes to make a tabletop. We connect them together with glue. We are waiting for the structure to stick together firmly. At this time, we make crossbars and legs from scraps of boards or bars. Give the tabletop the selected shape. It can be rectangular or square (it’s easier), but tables with various roundnesses and curves look better. Wood is easy to process. Using a hacksaw, we can easily create a tabletop of the configuration we need. After this, using a grinding machine, we carefully process the finished elements. Additionally, we rub their surface with sandpaper.
We apply stain to the tabletop, legs, and crossbars. This composition gives the wood a noble appearance, providing the effect of antiquity. These elements are completely treated with stain. We need to apply it not only to the surfaces, but also to the end parts of the coffee table parts. Nuance. The ends of wood products can be covered with decorative materials, for example, butterflies, often used for these purposes.
Next, we attach the crossbars to the tabletop, assembled from two boards. The operation is performed using glue and round spikes inserted into pre-made holes. The latter are drilled into in the right places electric drill. We fasten the legs in the same way: we make holes, lubricate the tenons with glue, and insert them into the grooves. The tea table is ready. Let's coat it with varnish to make the structure look perfect, and we'll enjoy the new piece of furniture in the house.
As we have already noted, it is possible to make an original coffee table from various available materials. If you have a lot of old magazines and newspapers, you don’t have to throw them away. Let's make an unusual table out of them according to the following scheme:
The created cabinet is usually secured with strong threads and left to dry. Then we cut our homemade table up and down. We get a neat bedside table. We glue regular or mirror glass on top of it using silicone, which is used for repairing aquariums. Advice. The glass should have a thickness of 1.2–1.5 cm. Thin countertops will be unreliable in use. One careless movement and they will crack.
In cases where the home is old window design changes to a new one (for example, a plastic one), the dismantled product can also be adapted for a coffee table. A minimum of difficulties awaits us. We remove the hinges, handles, and other fittings from the window and wash the canvas well. If necessary, remove the old layer of paint, polish the surface and paint with a fresh composition. We have a finished tabletop in front of us. It can be installed on any legs. Great option- make them from volumes that are collecting dust on bookshelves in the home for decades.
We fasten the books to each other, forming them into legs of the required height.
We carry out the procedure using superglue. Another option is to drill neat holes in the books and thread a steel rod through them. Installing the updated window frame on homemade legs and rejoice in our ingenuity. These coffee tables are good for interiors in retro, vintage, and Provence styles. Instead of a window, by the way, it is allowed to use old doors, a mirror, or simply a large board that did not have a place in the household.
Wooden pallets are products used for transporting and storing a variety of goods and cargo. Pallets perform the same function. But they are considered more modern designs. Both the first and second are ready-made countertops. They make great low tables. Moreover, the entire process of making homemade furniture from such products requires a minimum of time and labor from the home craftsman.
We just need to thoroughly clean and wash the tray, treat it with a grinder and sandpaper, and paint it in the chosen color. It is not necessary to apply a single color paint. Color the table to your taste. Apply any ornaments and symbols to the pallet. And if you wish, you can not paint the workpiece at all, leaving the wood in its in kind. Small chips, scratches, cracks will highlight the natural texture of the structure.
We install the prepared tabletop on low wooden blocks or on wheels. Here you need to understand that the weight of the pallets is quite serious - up to 15–25 kg. Therefore, wheels and legs for a pallet table should be selected wisely. They must withstand a given load. However, a pallet of sufficient height may not be equipped with legs. The design will be comfortable and reliable without them.
If there are no pallets at hand, you can actually make a table from any empty wooden boxes. Containers for wine, vegetables, and fruits are suitable. From two drawers you can build a small coffee table, and from four drawers you can make a spacious structure for gatherings with friends. We assemble the boxes into a square or rectangular furniture. We fasten them together with nails, and putty the places where the hardware is installed with a mixture of glue and sawdust. We decorate the structure and cover it with varnish. We get a chic table.
Place a vase or flower pot in the free space between the drawers. You can also cover it with a suitable sheet product. Nuance. Design experts advise covering the tabletop with plastic if the interior of the home is made in the style of minimalism and modernism. For high-tech and art deco decors, it is better to use a sheet of polished steel. Country style interiors are perfectly complemented wooden coverings. And glass placed on a table made of drawers will harmoniously fit into any room decor.
You can actually build a massive coffee table from an old one. cast iron battery heating. It is enough to tint it a little, install it on strong wheels, and cover it with glass on top (if possible, with rounded edges). The functionality of such a design is, of course, in question. She, however, weighs 60–80 kilograms. But she is not lacking in originality. Not a single guest of your home can ignore such an unusual piece of furniture.
And car lovers have the opportunity to make a comfortable table from old tire from his iron horse. Very often, tires are used for garden decoration. But even in the house they are proper preparation will look appropriate. To create a table from a tire in the now popular eco-style, you need to stock up on:
Table made from an old tire
We attach plywood circles to the tire on both sides. Products can be attached to superglue or (which is more reliable) to self-tapping screws. If you want the homemade plywood lid to open, one of the circles should be installed on small hinges. Then you can store a variety of household items in the tire niche.
After that, we proceed to decorating the coffee table. We make a small circle out of a rope (bundle). Coat the middle of the plywood table top with glue. Carefully secure the rope element to it. In the same way, going from the center to the edges, we decorate the rest of the surface. Then we turn the tire over and continue braiding it on the sides. The bottom of the structure does not need to be decorated. TO bottom sheet Let's attach the legs (as an option - wheels). The table is ready. All that remains is to cover it with varnish or a special wax composition.
Fantasize boldly! Original tables for tea parties can be made from other available materials. The more creative the craft looks, the more positive emotions you will experience looking at it. Decorate your home with something unusual homemade furniture, forming unique interiors. Good luck.
Coffee tables were very popular in the 90s of the twentieth century; they were placed in living rooms and served to store newspapers. In the age of high technology, many people read last news online, and therefore rarely buy magazines. But such tables have not yet lost popularity and are still installed in apartments, because they are comfortable and functional. And instead of spending money on buying new furniture, you can make a coffee table with your own hands. All you need is a little imagination and effort.
This piece of furniture has a very big story, despite the fact that it became most popular in Russia only in the twentieth century. A coffee table is a small table, often elongated or with a round top., which was usually placed in the living room in front of or between the chairs and served for storing magazines, books and other printed materials. It could also be used to decorate the interior or as a coffee table to place cups of drinks on. According to GOST, this is a small low table intended for decorating premises and using in a recreation area.
Such tables first appeared in Europe - a part of the world where people love comfort and beauty. The first table was made around the 18th-19th centuries - according to historians, it was made by a certain W. Goodwin. After this, this type of furniture began to be actively produced by a couple of furniture companies.
On a note! The height of the old and modern tables was very different. The ancestors of the modern variation were much taller. The height of the product was particularly influenced by the East, where it is customary to make small tables.
Nowadays, a coffee table can be seen not only in living rooms, but also in offices and other rooms of the house. Its main difference from a regular table is the small size of the tabletop and relatively low height. Some tables, in addition to the table itself, also have crossbar shelves on which it is convenient to place directly the press or any other small items. In some variations of tables, such shelves are replaced with drawers. You can put souvenirs, vases on the tabletop itself, use it as a stand for mugs and glasses during tea drinking, etc. Thanks to this table, you can arrange a cozy area rest or decorate a small corner.
Typically, the height of a coffee table is no more than 50 cm, but in general there are tables that are both smaller and larger. The owner's wishes play a big role here.
So, we figured out the history of the tables. This is truly the furniture without which any room seems not as cozy as it could be. So it’s worth purchasing it, especially the most simple options are inexpensive. If we are talking about expensive designer options, but there is no money for them, or you just want something of your own, individual, then an alternative to buying can be making the table yourself. Advantages of a homemade product:
A hand-made table can be placed in any room of the house or office. It will not only fit harmoniously into the interior, but also warm the soul because it was made independently, and no one else has exactly the same product.
Now that interesting and unusual design solutions, magazine tables can look anything you want. They can be quite large or compact, simple and carved, with different shapes of legs and table tops. Here it’s up to the creator’s imagination. Even in a store, sometimes you can find very interesting variations that will definitely decorate the interior and will serve faithfully for many years.
A variety of materials are used for making coffee tables:
In general, you can use anything and you can combine materials with each other. Even natural material in the form of driftwood can be used in skillful hands. Of course, the simplest option is to make a table out of wood. It is easiest to work with at home.
Table. Basic materials.
Material | Characteristics |
---|---|
This is the simplest, but at the same time durable material. A table made from solid wood is distinguished by its beauty, environmental friendliness, strength and durability. Working with wood at home is easy and pleasant, no need to buy additional equipment. This category of materials also includes wood derivatives - plywood, MDF, chipboard. They can also be used to make coffee tables, and no additional equipment is required either. But, for example, MDF and chipboard are more difficult to saw, the materials have high strength and density. They are very afraid of water. Plywood is easy to work with, but is less durable than solid wood. True, find plywood good quality it doesn't always work out. | |
Typically, metal is used only to make a frame or support for a table; tabletops are not made from this material. It is quite difficult to work with it at home; it may require special equipment such as welding machine. But if you wish, you can also use metal to create homemade table. It will be strong and durable. It is only important that the metal is covered with paint or a special protective layer, otherwise it will quickly rust. | |
Typically, glass can be used to create table tops and shelves for coffee tables, while legs are made from metal or wood. Glass is not easy to work with due to its physical properties(fragility), however, thanks to this material, interesting design solutions can be realized. The disadvantage of glass tables is that stains and stains will constantly appear on their surface, which are not easy to get rid of. These are also quite heavy products due to the fact that thick glass is used - a thin sheet will make a table that is too fragile. |
On a note! If desired, you can turn it into a coffee table and a regular table, and also use stumps, driftwood, remnants of old furniture or household appliances, remnants of repair materials. Here you just need to turn on your imagination.
So, the simplest version of the table that you can make at home is a wooden one. And to work with wood or its derivatives, the following tools and materials may be required.
Do not forget that before the main work you need to draw a clear diagram of the future table and estimate its dimensions. The drawing will help you avoid making mistakes in the future, and will also provide the ability to calculate the required amount of materials to manufacture the product. So it won’t hurt to arm yourself with a sheet of paper and a pencil, as well as a square, a ruler, and a tape measure.
On a note! Those who own a computer can be advised to use design programs where you can draw the selected model of the table, calculate its dimensions and even estimate its final appearance.
From ordinary wooden thin slats you can very quickly and easily build universal table, which, if sufficiently strong, can even serve as a bench.
Step 1. To create a small table from slats, you will need boards from which slats will be cut (2.5x7.5 cm - 3 pieces, 2.5x10 cm - 1 piece, 2.5x5 cm - 8 pieces). You also need to take fastenings for the legs (4 pieces), the legs themselves (conical ones about 40 cm long are possible), screws and self-tapping screws, wood putty and paint, as well as decorative nails. You will also need sandpaper. From the tools you need to get a drill with drills, a hacksaw or jigsaw, and clamps.
Miter saw
Step 2. Next, you need to take boards 2.5x7.5 cm and cut their ends at an angle of 45 degrees, and from those that have parameters of 2.5x5 cm, you need to make slats that have the same length as the very first boards cut at an angle, only inside, up to 45 degree cuts.
Step 3. Then you need to take the blanks made second and place them between boards cut at an angle. All slats must be level. Next, you need to measure the distance between the outer boards and make two jumper blanks from a 2.5x10 cm board. They will play the role of two supports for narrower slats. These jumpers must be secured with self-tapping screws to the slats. Also, using a special jig, you need to drill two holes at the ends of the supports. They will allow you to connect the structure with the outer bars. However, you can simply connect them with self-tapping screws.
Step 4. The blanks for the box (2.5x7.5 cm) must be pressed with clamps to the edges of the structure. The main thing is that everything is assembled and installed smoothly. To prevent any traces left from the clamps, it is recommended to place small pieces of wood under them. Now you can screw the sides to the jumpers through the holes made in step 3, or simply with self-tapping screws.
Clamps
Step 5. You need to measure the width of the table and make the ends of the box. The end edges of the slats in the middle, as well as the edges of the outer boards sawn at an angle of 45 degrees, need to be lubricated special glue on wood.
Step 6. Next, you need to install the end boards in this place and tighten them with a belt. The table blank should be left in this position until the glue dries. You can additionally secure the boards to the slats using decorative nails.
Step 7 Now all that remains is to sand the surface of the table, then cover it with primer and paint, and also attach the legs to it. It is important to remember that after applying the primer you need to wait for it to dry and only then apply the paint. Other work should be done only after the paint layer has completely dried. In addition, the table can be varnished.
Original and stylish table can be made from ordinary driftwood found in the forest and a piece of glass. Here you don’t even need special skills to turn natural material into a beautiful coffee table.
Step 1. First of all, in the forest you need to find a snag of suitable shape and size. Usually, just the root part of a fairly mature tree is used.
Step 2. It is necessary to remove all the bark from the surface of the driftwood, clean it of debris and soil.
Step 3. It is necessary to saw off the excess wood from below and above the driftwood, forming the most even cuts. One of them will serve as a lower support, the second - a support for the glass.
Step 5. The next step is to coat the surface of the driftwood with wood varnish and let the varnish dry well. You need to cover the entire surface of the former tree.
Step 6. Now it's time to work on the tabletop, which will be made of glass. Need to cut required sizes piece, and then sand its edges. It is important to remember that the glass must be thick enough and the edges must be sanded using water.
Step 8 You need to drill holes in the glass for the bolts that secure the glass to the driftwood.
Step 10 All that remains is to close the bolts with decorative plugs and that’s it, the table can be used.
A very interesting and original table can be made from ordinary logs.
Step 1. First you need to make a frame-box, for which you use ordinary plywood about 2 cm thick. You need to cut a base blank measuring approximately 60x80 cm from a sheet, and attach plywood walls to it on top.
Step 3. Some of the logs need to be secured to the base around the outside of the box. At the bottom of the base you need to attach legs or wheels for the future table. It is necessary to glue the logs to the base using glue, but they additionally need to be fixed from below with self-tapping screws.
Step 4. Next, all the logs are installed inside the box, and the spaces between them are covered in layers with wood putty. The main thing is to dry each layer well. Once the putty has dried, it is important to sand the surface of the table well.
Step 5. Now the table can be used. It is also recommended to cover its surface with transparent varnish.
Using the same principle, you can make tables from larger logs, or you can immediately take a large stump, peel it from the bark and varnish it. All that remains is to screw the legs to it - and the table is ready!
As can be judged based on everything said above, it is not difficult to make a wooden table for the living room, which will serve as both a coffee table and a tea table. Of course, there are also critically complex variations, and to make them you cannot do without skills and abilities. However, if you wish, you can choose something light, and as a result it turns out that a simple homemade coffee table from ordinary wood is not so difficult to make.
