How to make good cabinets for your hallway yourself. Convenient do-it-yourself wardrobe in the hallway. Secrets to choosing the right height and width

Often in small apartments there is not enough space to store things, so they are often in plain sight, creating clutter.

If you're tired of this, then you should think about it.

Let's look at how to install it in the hallway yourself.

Before starting work, you need to collect the necessary tool:

  • construction angle;
  • drill;
  • roulette;
  • level;
  • screwdriver;
  • pencil;
  • electric jigsaw.

Materials

The most popular material for the construction of wardrobe walls is laminated chipboard 16 mm thick.

This is not a mandatory material; if you want to save money, you can use gypsum plasterboard or fiberboard, only after assembly this material will need to be further refined.

But it is worth remembering that using leftover material, the result will be appropriate.

You can also use MDF to build a wardrobe, furniture boards sold in construction stores. It is worth noting that this material is slightly cheaper than laminated chipboard.

Solid wood– the most environmentally friendly, natural material, but quite expensive, especially if you buy already cut and planed boards with groove fasteners. Despite the high cost, many ordinary people prefer this particular material for making furniture with their own hands, for its advantages:

  • environmentally friendly;
  • “breathable” - things will not suffocate in such a design;
  • easy to process and assemble;
  • Possibility to decorate with wood carvings.

The material can be purchased everywhere, but when used, the cost of the structure will increase several times.

For doors, it is better to purchase non-staining materials. The most preferred is - patterned glass or mirror. Laminated chipboard with a thickness of 10 mm is also suitable for doors.

Filling

Once the issue with the manufacturing material is resolved, the next problem arises - accessories and content:

  • shelves– they can be made of either wood or laminated chipboard, but you should understand that if you do not install special edges on the second option, the shelves will not last long;
  • tubes for clothes hangers. If the closet in the hallway is less than 50 cm thick, it would be more relevant to use end guides for hangers. In this case, it is better not to save money, but to use ball elements;
  • drawers, you can buy ready-made ones or build them yourself from chipboard and plywood. It’s also better not to skimp on fittings for drawers, since a simple retractable mechanism will not work for long, and there is always a chance that the drawer may fall out;
  • shoe net– it is advisable to buy a multi-level one. This way, each household member will have their own place for shoes.

It’s worth noting right away that the more fittings are installed in a cabinet, the more expensive it becomes.

Drawings and diagrams of a wardrobe in a niche

When filling, the cabinet must be divided into zones using partitions. When installing a classic wardrobe, the main part of the wardrobe is occupied by space for hangers with clothes, a mesh for shoes and open or closed shelves for things. The remaining space is taken up by storage space for household items, for example, a vacuum cleaner, ironing board, buckets, broom, and so on.

You can design a wardrobe using a special program on the Internet or a ruler and pencil on plain paper.

Usually the wall serves as one of the side walls of the built-in closet, so you will need few parts:

  • one wall height from floor to ceiling;
  • depending on how many doors you plan to install, you will need 1 or 2 partitions, height from floor to ceiling;
  • a small piece 10-15 cm wide - in order to refine the opening after assembling the cabinet;
  • shelf under the mezzanine - things that are used very rarely will be stored there. Other shelves and drawers as needed.

Advice. If there is a niche in the hallway, then you can use it to install a built-in wardrobe with your own hands. This option will cost less, since the walls of the niche will serve as the side walls. It is enough to mount the filling with partitions and install the door.

The depth of the shelves is calculated based on door design who is planning to adopt. Some rails allow you to install shelves of maximum depth - just step back a centimeter from the edge. In others, for quality work door leaf it will take almost 10 cm.

Important. If after installing the wardrobe, you plan suspended ceiling, then it is worth providing a mortgage for fastening the profile. Step back a few centimeters from the ceiling, rather than making the door from ceiling to floor. This is very easy to do, just build a U-shaped box from profiles and laminated chipboard and attach it to the ceiling. In this case, the end of the box will serve as a support for the ceiling, and a rail will be installed on the lower part.

In the drawing you need to indicate the size of each individual part, and do not forget that an edge must be applied to each shelf and partition, the thickness of which must be taken into account.

Advice. It is better to order edging immediately after cutting the material from the same company from which the material is purchased and sawed. In addition, it is worth knowing that visible parts are sealed PVC edge 2 mm, and the remaining parts - 0.4 mm. There is no need to cover the joining parts with an edge.

During the design process, you may encounter a problem such as curved wall surfaces.

Often this is not visible visually, but as soon as you start installing the cabinet element to the wall, the unevenness is immediately revealed.

Of course, you can, of course, disguise a gap of several centimeters PVC corner. But we advise you to check the evenness of the walls in advance using a level or rule and carry out the work of leveling the walls.

You should not file chipboard - firstly, without special tool you won’t be able to do it as evenly as possible; secondly, there will be no edge and the cut will open, into which moisture can get in and the material will begin to collapse. It will be difficult to install even a U-shaped plastic profile on a curved cut.

As for the inside, the walls can be painted or trimmed cleaning material, for example, non-woven wallpaper.

Assembly

Assembly should begin by installing the main walls and forming an opening around the entire perimeter using pre-prepared chipboard strips.

How to make a frame yourself?

There are two steps to complete:

  1. The frame is attached around the perimeter to the walls, floor and ceiling on dowel nails.
  2. The elements are fastened together with special corners. If you want to make it beautiful, you can use furniture or plastic corners.

    If reliability is taken as a basis, then simply buy steel corners.

Advice. Modern way fastening parts - furniture euroscrews, but for them you first need to drill holes, but this is very difficult to do by eye. In this case, you will have to buy a special drill.

As soon as the base of the cafe is assembled, they begin installing the partitions, and only then proceed to the shelves.

Shelves

Special shelf holders made of metal or plastic are used. We list the most common options for mounting shelves:

Once you have decided on the mounting option, you can begin installation. The shelves are installed according to a pre-planned plan.

Important. The shelves should be slightly smaller than the overall depth of the cabinet so that nothing interferes with the closing of the doors. As for closed drawers, it is worth leaving space for handles, that is, they should be 10 cm smaller.

Crossbar

Before starting installation, cut the rod to the required length from the workpiece.

  1. Mark its location.
  2. Install the holder on the main wall and the laminated chipboard wall.
  3. Install the crossbar into the holders.

The holders need to be installed not only with screws, but also with glue. To do this, before fastening, apply glue to the inside, apply it to the markings and screw it on.

Shoe net

If we compare the grids with shelves made of chipboard, they are much lighter and create less load on the entire structure.

In addition, mesh shelves for shoes make the design very convenient and ergonomic. The fastenings are very convenient, they several types:

  • support brackets;
  • clips;
  • pockets;
  • brackets.

When installing, shoe nets are cut in the middle, as plastic tips are installed on them. The pitch of the shoe rack should be a multiple of 25 mm. The clips are installed in increments of 245 mm.

Often, shoe nets are installed at an angle of 45 degrees for easy storage of shoes and boots.

Coupe doors

Assembling and installing doors is the most difficult stage in this design. Save in in this case You can’t do it on the fittings, otherwise the door may jam or fall out.

Manufacturing

Usually the wardrobe in the hallway consists of two doors, less often they have three doors. Each door is a canvas, which is framed on 4 sides, made of special aluminum profiles.

It is worth noting right away that the canvas may be heterogeneous, but the material must be compatible. For joining, a connecting profile is used. The door profile is designed for a material thickness of 10 mm.

It is very easy to insert a profile into such a profile, despite the fact that its thickness is only 4 mm; the missing 6 mm are simply supplemented with a silicone seal.

You need to buy a special mirror for doors, with a protective film, so that upon impact it does not shatter into small fragments.

Doors should not be wider than 1 meter because:

  • it's quite inconvenient;
  • It is very difficult to deliver material this wide without damaging it.

You can order doors from a furniture store, or you can assemble them yourself. This is not difficult to do - a frame is put on the canvas and screwed together.

The algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. It is better to start assembly with cross profiles. For this they prepare wooden spacer, onto which the profile is pressed using a rubber hammer.
  2. As soon as the horizontal profiles are ready, proceed to the vertical ones, they are secured with 6x35 or 5x30 mm self-tapping screws. Before you finally tighten the frame, don’t forget install rollers top and bottom.
  3. If you want to make the fasteners invisible, you should use drills of several diameters: the first hole is made with a diameter of 9 mm, under the screw head, the second 5 mm, under the leg.
  4. It is worth immediately warning that vertical and horizontal profiles are very different. Three holes are made in the vertical ones for attaching the profiles to each other and for the rollers.
  5. The rollers will move along the guides - they are installed in the same plane at the top and bottom. The upper guides provide fixation of the blade relative to the depth, and the lower rails ensure closing/opening. Often bottom rollers made of plastic with a shock-absorbing spring and a screw for height adjustment. Top rollers with rubberized surface.
  6. A door stopper is installed in the bottom rail, and closers can also be installed upward, which will smoothly close the door themselves.

Installation

To install the door, you must first install it in the far recess of the top track, and then install it in the lower corresponding channel.

The second canvas is installed using the same principle.

After the canvases are installed, you need adjust the rollers so that there is no gap between the canvas and the walls. Apply buffer tape to the handles.

We check the doors - if the movement is free and the rollers do not cling anywhere, then the work on installing the doors can be considered complete.

Conclusion

If you want to test your skills, start assembling a wardrobe in the hallway with your own hands. This furniture does not require special design skills and is quite simple to install. The main requirement will be to choose the right color of the structure so that it fits harmoniously into the general interior hallway, cut the material correctly and assemble it efficiently.

In contact with

A mandatory attribute of any hallway is a comfortable, functional closet.

If you have experience performing carpentry work, a piece of furniture can be made with your own hands.

This will help you save money and create a cabinet that will decorate your interior.

Plus, the hallway is the first room that your guests notice. And its main decoration can be your masterpiece!

Before developing a cabinet design, you need to clearly determine what items it is intended for and how many things will be stored. The dimensions of the room are also taken into account.

Kinds

The main purpose of a wardrobe in the hallway is to store shoes and clothes, hats and even household appliances. Distinguish the following types wardrobes:

  • free-standing. Roomy and massive, fully equipped: there are walls, ceilings, floors, doors. The design is easy to disassemble and transport;
  • corner. Suitable for small rectangular and square rooms. The back wall can be designed for various shelves;
  • built-in. Have internal partitions, side doors and walls, shelves. There are no back walls or ceilings.

For one person or a small family, a one-door wardrobe is enough. The number of sections is two. The internal filling should include shelves for shoes or shoe boxes, drawers for hats and small items wardrobe, hat and umbrella stands. You need hanger bars and hooks for everyday clothes, and a mirror is a must.

When creating a diagram need to be taken into account:

  • the width of the shelves is about 80-90 cm. If the room is very small, you can make narrow shelves from 40 cm;
  • the crossbar for hangers must be placed across the cabinet;
  • the height of the wardrobe for upper clothing is at least 140 cm;
  • There should be decorative shelves for small items.

In large hallways there are two-door or three-door wardrobes. They are convenient for storing not only seasonal shoes, hats and accessories, but also bed linen, towels, and magazines. The width of the shelves is variable - from 40 cm or more. The height between them is from 250 to 350 mm.

Important! The greater the depth of the shelves, the longer distance between them and vice versa.

Scheme and drawing

When drawing up a diagram, you need to take measurements of the parts and draw everything on paper.

Reference. There are no specific rules for drawing up diagrams. It is advisable to make a cabinet design using ready-made drawings that are easy to find on the Internet. Or you can draw a sketch of the future product yourself, carefully thinking through all the details.

The material will be cut according to the drawings.

Sequence of circuit development:

  1. Determine the dimensions of the cabinet, taking into account the location. The standard length of material for walls is usually 277 cm (based on the size of the apartment’s ceiling).
  2. Sketch general form products.
  3. Smash inner space into vertical and horizontal sections.
  4. Decide in which compartments to install drawers.
  5. Determine the dimensions of the doors of the sections that will be closed (if any), the location of the mezzanines.

It is necessary to mark the ends for gluing furniture edge tape, select accessories. Put all dimensions on the drawing. To make the task easier, you can use the free computer program for design - for example, SweetHome 3D.

According to the selected sizes you need to prepare 6 important details housings:

  • top and bottom bars;
  • back walls (2 pieces);
  • side walls (not required if we are talking about a built-in wardrobe).

As side panels, back wall, cabinet bottom and lid apartment walls and floor can be used. This will help save on materials.

Important! If the walls are made of plasterboard, this solution is not acceptable.

What to make it out of so that it is cheap and beautiful?

The construction market offers a wide range of materials with which it is possible to implement any design solution. It is not necessary to make a cabinet from solid wood. It is expensive and difficult to process. It's better to buy practical ones inexpensive materials, which are easy to work with.

Laminated particle boardsbest option for making a piece of furniture with your own hands.

Advantages of chipboard:

  • affordable price;
  • strength and reliability;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • ease of processing.

Wood boards lightweight, so they do not require fittings or reinforced fasteners. A wide selection of textures will allow you to realize any design ideas.

Plywood sheets durable, lightweight and dimensional stable. The material is several times cheaper than wood.

MDF panels They are an analogue of chipboard, and are inferior to them in fiber pattern and quality. Such furniture is less expensive. MDF with imitation of valuable wood species is available for sale.

Advantages:

  • easy processing;
  • fire resistance;
  • moisture resistance (the material does not swell);
  • ample opportunities for creating furniture.

Fiberboards have excellent performance characteristics. For the manufacture of load-bearing cabinet structures, medium or high density fiberboard is suitable.

The facade of the sliding wardrobe can be made of wood, glass or sheets of chipboard, MDF. Suitable laminated panels with mirror or normal surface, with tinted car film.

When choosing a material, take into account financial capabilities. If your budget allows, you can make a cabinet from natural wood. Mahogany is the most durable. Alternative options– beech, Karelian birch.

You need to purchase the necessary accessories:

  • end hangers;
  • euroscrews with plugs;
  • handles for doors and drawers;
  • guides for drawers.

The quantity and type will depend on the number of sections, drawers in the closet.

Important. The fittings must be High Quality so that the doors do not jam.

Tools

Before starting work, it is advisable to prepare everything in advance necessary tools and inventory. Namely:

  • tape measure or ruler;
  • pencil or marker;
  • glue;
  • edge tape;
  • ratchet wrench;
  • screwdriver or drill;
  • pliers.

If you plan to cut cabinet blanks at home, you will need an electric jigsaw.

Step-by-step instruction

Blanks

Parts are cut according to ready-made drawings. If you have experience, you can handle this yourself. But after sawing the material with a jigsaw, chips may form.

It is advisable turn to professionals for cutting workpieces. The sheets will be cut beautifully and accurately, and there will be no jagged edges.

After cutting the parts, edging is carried out with furniture PVC tape. The edge is glued using an iron heated to a certain temperature.

Assembly Description

Preliminary markings for fasteners are carried out with maximum accuracy.

Important! The holes for the fastening elements must be located strictly in the middle of the thickness of the end of the workpiece, since the confirmations are screwed into the end.

Install the bottom and walls of the cabinet according to the diagram:

  1. Check the accuracy of the dimensions, put the walls and bottom in place.
  2. Make holes to fix the base and partition in the center.
  3. The base and central partition are secured. Confirmats are screwed into the bottom of the side walls. To protect them from exposure to moisture from the part that rests on the floor, use a waterproof profile.
  4. The upper shelves are mounted to give rigidity to the frame. A rear wall is installed for reinforcement.

Important! A screwdriver will not work to secure the lid. The fasteners are attached manually using pliers. Additionally tighten with a ratchet or hex wrench.

Proceed to installing the side shelves. They are secured with four confirmations (2 on each side).

If the side shelf is flush with the inner shelf or bottom, confirmations cannot be used.

They are fastened with dowels - wooden cylinders. They are inserted into pre-prepared recesses in the wall and pushed into the same holes in the shelf.

Door assembly begins with installation back door. Use a level to check whether the cabinet is aligned accurately. Secure the upper level by placing 2 supports and a running lower profile on it. To assemble the rear door you will need a set of fittings:

  • rear door running roller with and without trunnions;
  • 2 rear door corners;
  • 8 screws 4x25;
  • 10 screws 4x16;
  • 6 screws;
  • seal.

If the insertion of glass or mirror is planned, install sections of the seal along the length of the dividing profile. When installing parts made of chipboard, no seal is needed.

When assembling the door, the inserts are placed on foam plastic front side so as not to damage. Glass or mirror is installed in a horizontal dividing profile. When installing two glasses, the seal is placed on both sides.

The combined door is assembled using dividing profiles. A sealant is needed at the joints with the glass. Basic door profile fastened on both sides of the door. If it is made of chipboard, use 4x25 screws. TO connection profile secure with screws using a screwdriver.

Important! One profile is fixed in a horizontal position. The second one is vertical arrangement doors.

The profile handle is installed on both sides, directing the bend to the front side, controlling the tightness of the joints. If necessary, beat with a mallet and the joints are aligned along the entire length. The restrictive sealing corner of the rear door and the running roller without a trunnion are mounted on the handle-profile side.

The rear door is hung on the running profile and moved to the front door. The same set of fittings is prepared as for the back door. The front cabinet door is assembled in the sequence described above.

At the final stage, hangers and baskets are installed on the side walls. Check the functionality of the doors. They should open and close without extraneous sounds and easily.

Anyone can set their teeth on edge when there is a mess in the house, as scattered things have an extremely annoying effect on household members. There is not always space to store property, so many owners solve this problem by installing a wardrobe. Convenient place its placement is in the hallway and bedroom. We suggest you learn how to make a hallway cabinet with your own hands, and to make the process of creating this piece of furniture more understandable, explanatory photos are attached to it.

A sliding wardrobe located in the wall is widely used in homes, as it has an excellent ability to accommodate a sufficient number of things. He takes a small amount of square meters and allows residents to move freely around the house. This cabinet plays a useful role in indoors, and it won’t be difficult to do it.

The most common types of sliding wardrobes can be viewed in the photo. For convenience, many owners place this structure, built into a niche, in the hallway. The main advantage of this building is the minimum cost, since the walls and bottom with a lid are already there and do not need to be built. With the help of a compartment, empty space that has not been used until now is filled.

A great way to install a closet in a hallway is to place it across the entire width of a blank wall. This is the optimal solution, since a cabinet built into the wall in this way will increase the visual volume of the hallway if its doors are decorated. If the house has small dimensions, then this place can be used as a dressing room, while the size of the living space will not decrease.

Sliding wardrobes are often used in zoning one-room apartments. Similar buildings are common in penthouses, since there is no interior doors. This option is the most expensive of the others.

The most common type of cabinet is a separate structure, which can be made into a corner or placed closer to the wall. Such cabinets are created with doors that open on both sides so that access to the contents is as accessible as possible. On the Internet you can find many photos of cabinets and their location in the interior.

Materials

To make a cabinet, you must first choose suitable material, on which the progress of construction as a whole depends. To choose the right material, you need to consider its characteristics. Materials used in the assembly of the sliding wardrobe:

  • wood is traditional material, from which furniture is made. It is great for regular wardrobes, but it is not profitable to use for a compartment. This material will warp because the cabinet built into the wall absorbs more moisture than that in the room;
  • Drywall is a good finishing material that has many possibilities. Since he is finishing material, it cannot be used in the manufacture of a sliding wardrobe. This is impossible due to the fact that drywall is a structure that must be firmly attached to something, and cannot be part of a load-bearing structure;
  • Fiberboard, chipboard - this is what you need to make a cabinet. The process of making it from these materials is extremely inexpensive and simple, and does not require large expenses. These materials have the characteristics of wood, but unlike it, they are resistant to moisture penetration. Experts recommend using chipboard, medium- and high-density fiberboard.

Many companies publish catalogs with photos of all materials. Having made your choice, you can proceed directly to designing the cabinet.

Cabinet design

When drawing up a project, the division of the cabinet into zones is carried out using partitions, which are measured by the width of the doors. It is generally accepted that the main place for filling a compartment is the wardrobe area, which includes rods with hangers and shelves for clothes and shoes. The rest of the space belongs to the utility block.

Design can be done using photo samples, or you can prepare it yourself.

Designing a sliding wardrobe using a special program
Approximate layout of a wardrobe

To make a cabinet, you need a number of parts:

  • one wall for the side (since the wall and floor will replace the rest);
  • internal partitions, the number of which is adjusted to the number of doors;
  • in order for the cabinet to look complete, it is necessary to make narrow strips of wood, which will give a noble look to the structure;
  • other details should arrange the shelves. The mezzanine is made for those things that are not often used. The remaining space is filled with shelves at the owner’s discretion;
  • if the tenant wants to install a suspended ceiling in the hallway after assembling the cabinet, then it is necessary to develop a plan so that it does not interfere with this. Prevent occurrence similar situations A homemade U-shaped box will help. It will serve as the basis for the upper door rails. The box will need to be screwed to the ceiling;
  • During the design and drawing, you will need to measure the size of all cabinet parts to order, determining in advance where the edges will be applied to them. Places that are visible are covered with a PVC edge with a layer of 2 mm, and others with a thickness of 0.4 mm. Parts that will come into contact with others do not need to be covered with PVC edges;
  • The most annoying problem that can arise is indirect walls. In this situation, you should not make hasty decisions and file cutting laminated chipboard jigsaw, as chips may form on the surface. At home, it is almost impossible to do this without damage, because this requires a circular saw;
  • If, after sawing the sheet, the cut area opens, then it should be closed. You can glue an overlay U-profile, as well as a melanin edge;
  • the part located on the inside can simply be painted on the walls.

You can find many photos with examples of arranging a wardrobe.

Materials for the inner drawer
Shelf material

For sliding systems, it is necessary to retreat 9-10 cm from the inside of the door so as not to damage the structure of the cabinet. The exception is the Versailles system, which allows for its installation close to the top rail. But in order to protect the cabinet from undesirable consequences, it is advisable to retreat 1 cm.

Cabinet assembly

You should begin assembling the cabinet by installing load-bearing walls around the perimeter, edging the opening with strips of laminated chipboards. Then you should attach the frame to the ceiling, floor and walls using dowels. The angle helps connect the parts to each other.

Installation of a wardrobe frame
Installing the wardrobe base

The optimal method for fastening parts is the use of Euroscrews, which are used in furniture assembly. But before using them, you first need to make a hole for them, which should be made smoothly without any special devices impossible. For this purpose, there is a specially created drill for confirmation, which can be adjusted to the drilling depth.

If you are fastening to furniture bolts, then for added rigidity and greater retention it is recommended to use furniture dowels. They are screwed in with a hexagon.

Fastening the shelves

Fastening can be done in several ways. Using corners to attach shelves is quite common and not aesthetically pleasing, so it is used in exceptional cases when other methods are completely unsuitable.

By means of confirmations, the shelves are securely attached to the cabinet walls, which guarantees the transfer of various heavy loads. But Euroscrews are used exclusively in places where no one will see them, since their appearance is spoiled due to the caps.

The eccentric allows the shelves to be securely attached to the wall. But in order to attach them, you will have to work hard. In addition, the screw cap becomes noticeable from below. In the photo you can clearly see what these or other mounting options look like.

The most suitable option For fastening shelves there are shelf holders, which are accessories that provide stability to the part. When using this type of fastening, they are completely invisible on both sides.

Door assembly

The main procedure for assembling sliding wardrobes is sliding doors. When performing the installation, it is not advisable to skimp on auxiliary material, since if it is of poor quality or there is not enough of it, then problems with doors sticking and falling out cannot be avoided. Laguna, Versailles and Aristo have established themselves as the most reliable and high-quality companies manufacturing sliding systems. Their cost is very reasonable.

A sliding wardrobe is often equipped with two, rarely three doors, consisting of a panel framed with aluminum profiles on all sides. For a tight connection in any position, a special profile is used, which allows the frame not to be uniform (an example can be seen in the photo). By standard standards, the thickness of a chipboard sheet is 10 mm.

Using a silicone seal, a mirror or designer glass 4 mm thick can be inserted into such a profile. It is important to know that when using glass or mirrors for a door, you must purchase them with a special protective film, which, due to its elastic properties, does not allow fragments to fly apart during a strong impact. You can assemble the doors yourself or order them ready-made.

Installing doors into a structure

It is necessary to hammer the horizontal profiles using a hammer made of rubber. Then you should fill the vertical handles, fastened with self-tapping screws, the dimensions of which are 5 * 30 or 6 * 35 mm. The top and bottom rollers must be installed before the final tie is made. To ensure that the fasteners are not noticeable, the holes for the screws should be made of two different diameters. The first is 9 mm (inside the profile), the second is 5 mm (under the screw leg).

Profiles located vertically and horizontally have differences. The ones that are vertical should have 3 holes, which need to be drilled one at a time in the top and bottom of the assembly, as well as in the place where the lower rollers are attached. Then the profiles need to be sawed off according required sizes and fasten with self-tapping screws. A door stopper is installed in the bottom rail.

Before installing the door, it must be inserted into the far channel of the upper door guide, and then inserted into the lower channel. The second doors need to be installed in the same way. To ensure that there are no gaps between the doors, you need to stick a buffer tape.

Making a wardrobe in the hallway with your own hands is not difficult. All it takes is desire, perseverance and ready materials. After completing the assembly, you can take a photo and show this creation to your friends.

Tools

To assemble a wardrobe with your own hands, desire alone is not enough. To do this, you will need the skills of a carpenter and the appropriate power tools:

  • screwdriver;

Every owner has the rest of the tool:

  • hammer;
  • screwdriver;
  • sandpaper;
  • pliers;
  • roulette.

Create a sketch

Sketch with wardrobe dimensions

To produce correct measurements, you first need to decide where the wardrobe will be located. For example, in the hallway wardrobes have rectangular shape. Drawings for such a cabinet are made simply: the width and height of the wall are measured. Next, the parameters of the wardrobe are adjusted to these dimensions.

The figure shows that the master sketched out the dimensions not only of the width and height of the cabinet, but also the depth and even the dimensions of the doors. It is worth noting that depth measurements require a small offset of 0.03 mm, which is exactly how much the cabinet doors occupy. In other cases, measurements are entered as shown by the tape measure.

Purchasing materials

Accessories for wardrobes

With the finished sketch, we head to the building materials store, where the sellers will help you calculate the quantity necessary materials. Order the service of sawing chipboard sheets required sizes so as not to waste a lot of time and effort on manual work.

In this way, blanks for doors, walls and the ceiling of a wardrobe are made. In the same store you can also choose accessories - rollers, rivets, fasteners and corners.

Steel materials are also purchased:

  • doors with self-tapping screws;
  • special corners for mounting shelves;
  • magnetic latches;
  • awnings;
  • sandpaper;

In the process of making a wardrobe, you will also need sandpaper and varnish.

Preparation of the workplace

The first step is to level the floor and walls. Special attention This process is given only if you are planning to make a corner wardrobe. The floor can be leveled cement mortar(screed), and the walls in two ways, depending on their unevenness.

If the walls have large differences - from 2 cm or more, then plaster will be needed to level them; in other cases, putty is sufficient.

After complete drying building materials, the working surface is treated with antiseptic compounds. The plastered surface is additionally coated with a primer, and the putty surface is covered with water-based paint.

Helpful advice: The evenness of the walls and corner can be checked using a regular corner or a rule.

Frame assembly sequence

Assembling the frame for the wardrobe

The frame is assembled in strict sequence:

  1. The bottom of the structure is placed first directly on a flat floor. Lock it in this position.
  2. The side sheets are placed on the bottom.
  3. The assembly of the frame ends with the installation of the top sheet of chipboard. Before installing it, you need to check the verticals of the side sheets again. If the level shows “0”, we fasten the roof of the wardrobe using corners and self-tapping screws.

Take note: Never try to install the side panels yourself; it is better to do this with an assistant. One person holds the side panels, and the other hooks the corners from the bottom and top of the chipboard sheets. The evenness of the structure is checked by level.

We install shelves and other horizontal elements

Assembling shelves for a wardrobe

Installation internal elements- this is the most labor-intensive process. It can be roughly divided into two stages:

  1. Installation of clamps.
  2. Installation of shelves and fittings.

It is better to choose places for fasteners according to the scheme: 1 element for every 30 centimeters. Thus, even in a small meter-long wardrobe there will be three shelves. The holes for the clamps are made using a drill and a large drill.

It is important to know: In order not to damage a thin sheet of chipboard, stick electrical tape on the drill, measuring exactly 0.3 mm from its beginning, and begin to carefully drill holes to the mark.

Do not forget to measure the distance between the clamps, especially in height, they should be located at the same level. This way the shelves will stand straight and on the same level. All fasteners are attached to glue.

Installation of fittings and shelves

Installation of doors in wardrobes

At the second stage interior work fittings need to be installed. It is installed in two ways: without level checking and with checking. We think there is no need to say which method is better. So, first the fittings are mounted on bottom sheet Chipboard, then onto the side panels. The rollers are secured with special self-tapping screws included in the kit.

Expert advice: To make the screws easier to tighten, drill a small hole in the sheet with a drill. The exposed fittings are not screwed until the entire structure is checked with a level.

After installing the fittings, the doors are mounted as shown in the picture:

After installing the doors, you can begin to assemble the shelves. They are attached to pre-installed clamps. The screw caps can be covered with rubber plugs; they are sold at any hardware store.

The final stage is installation of hangers and painting of the wardrobe

Pull-out hanger for wardrobe

On finished design All that remains is to attach the hangers and the wardrobe can be used. It is recommended to install hangers at eye level.

Using a tape measure, the same distance is measured, the place is marked with a pencil directly on the chipboard sheet. Small holes are drilled in the marked places, where hangers are mounted using self-tapping screws.

The cabinet must be polished before painting. sandpaper. To paint the cabinet, it is better to use regular varnish and a brush. The cabinet is painted several times. Recommendation: paint the old coat of varnish only after it has completely dried (after 2-3 days). It is also recommended to open doors and windows after painting to ventilate the room.

Assembly

We do the preliminary assembly of the corner elements. We combine sheets with a width of 350 and 366 mm, as indicated in the figure, and first tighten them with confirmations. It is convenient to do this on an editing table, but in the absence of one, you can also use stools. Here we attach the sectors with 2 confirmata on each side. To ensure an even placement of the confirmations, it is recommended to make preliminary markings. For a wide sheet, one confirmation per sector is sufficient for now. We repeat the procedure on a symmetrical element.

WITH assembled structure remove the wide (side) sheet of chipboard (it will get in the way) and place the half-assembled structures against the wall. This should be done carefully so as not to scratch the ceiling or tear off the sector elements.

Again, more specifically, we assemble the side elements. At this stage, you can attach the entire structure to the floor and ceiling, if you are confident in the accuracy of the markings. Assembling a wardrobe with your own hands does not tolerate mistakes. When fastening, be sure to check the vertical installation

We install a vertical sheet 30 cm wide in the center of the structure. We install rectangular shelves, securing them furniture corners To vertical risers, given that these shelves are installed on the same level with the sector elements, confirmations from the sectors will be hidden.

Now you can finally attach the structure to the walls and ceiling. The structure itself is quite massive and a pair of fasteners for each vertical element is enough - a total of 6 pieces.

We install the guide under the clothes and screw the hooks for clothes. The quantity is optional, but in practice a couple of hooks are enough in the corner, and 3-4 inside half the cabinet.
Cut the guides to the required length. You will need to saw off half of the top one - in connection with one door it is not needed, and it will not physically fit. The top can be secured, the bottom can be simply placed for now, its fastening will come later. Don't forget to put door stoppers in the bottom guide

We install the door in its place. We check that the door fits well into the upper guide and does not fall out of it. To lift the door, you can place a laminated chipboard strip under the bottom guide - sheets 100 mm wide are sold in Leroy. It can be raised to a small height by adjusting the rollers. We control the vertical installation of the door and finally secure the lower guide.

Now you can attach a schlegel and a mirror to the door if desired, install the door in place and use the screws on the lower rollers to adjust its position relative to the cabinet body.

Amazing! So we assembled the wardrobe with our own hands. Over the course of a year of operation, it performed just fine.
