If a second child has appeared in the family, then in order to save space in the bedroom and money in your wallet, a do-it-yourself children's bunk bed is perfect.
The process itself requires the availability of the necessary tools:
Making a bunk bed with your own hands is not difficult if you have certain skills in such work.
It is also important to have a good idea of the end result, which is a significant incentive. Knowing where the bed will be located, you can make sure in advance that it fits perfectly into the interior of the children's room.
It is necessary to take into account the dimensions of the sleeping place and correlate them with the prepared materials. During the work you will need:
You need to carefully assemble a children's bunk bed with your own hands: it will serve good service children, will become for them, in a certain sense, another home.
Here it is better to cut once, but you need to measure seven times so that the product matches the interior and is reliable in all respects.
The process is simple, but requires precision and accuracy in everything.
This operation applies to both the lower and upper tier. We firmly fix them with screws to the bars at a distance of thirty centimeters from each other
Countersunk head screws are best suited for this trim.
You need firm confidence in what size the sleeping place will be and on which side to install the vertical ladder.
The size of the bed is larger than the sleeping place in length by about eight centimeters and in width by ten centimeters. The ladder increases the size of the product by approximately 4.5 centimeters.
To choose optimal height beds, you need to take into account the height of the ceiling in the children's room. Great importance has a distance between the second and first tiers. There should be enough space for the mother to sit next to the child if necessary.
For the racks and stairs you need solid wood blocks and boards.
The end panels are the same for the entire product, this simplifies their preparation. The width of the side panels is equal to the end panels, which gives the bed an aesthetic completeness. The dissimilarity of their connection with each other ensures the originality of the composition.
Based on the size of the mattresses that will need to be laid on the bed, then you need to increase the size on each side by two centimeters. This will make it easier to tuck in the bed linen. The convenience of the product is the most important guideline in this work.
As for the first tier, its lowest position as a new sleeping place can be established by taking as the basis for calculations the height that the baby overcomes almost without effort on his part.
Usually this is up to thirty-five centimeters for a child who has not yet turned three years old. Accordingly, the frame for laying the mattress will be lower by its thickness. But for the second tier, its maximum upper position is set taking into account the fact that an older child, whose bedroom is upstairs, can, if desired, sit down on the lower floor and at the same time not touch his head to the second flooring.
For the frame of a children's bunk bed, its reliability comes first, while the aesthetic side remains in the background.
The beams must be firmly connected using screws. As a result, two frames approximately identical in appearance come out. They complement each other perfectly aesthetically.
You need to screw the board to the end and one side, taking into account the importance of this fastening. It is better to screw the self-tapping screws with inside and make sure they don't go all the way through the board.
For short self-tapping screws, it is permissible to drill larger holes by using a depth stop on the drill.
The side is also placed on the second frame.
It is best to hide the mounting holes with putty and, after drying, sand it with sandpaper. The length of the leg should be in harmony with the height of the fence. The main thing is that the leg can withstand the expected load.
You need to make a hole in the leg where the second tier will be attached, and approximately the same hole in the frame with a side.
The leg still needs such recesses that would make it possible to easily hide both the hexagonal head of the screw and the washer. The hole should be of such depth that the screw, piercing the side and leg, is securely fastened in the beam.
A children's bunk bed has another discreet specificity. Under the ground floor you can make a small but quite cozy bed box and put many of the necessary things there, including sheets and pillowcases for the bed. A child can store his favorite toys in this box.
The front panel of the drawer is not as long as that of the bed. Height – fully consistent front panel first floor, which aesthetically looks very good, complementing the design of the children's room.
Whenever we deal with construction, even if it is miniature construction, the choice of manufacturing technology and material comes first.
It is best to use a wooden board as the basis for the structure. Of course, its high-quality preparation requires some effort. It is necessary to level it using a plane, sand it with sandpaper, and then apply varnish to extend the service life of the product.
It costs nothing to establish the location of the racks if the walls are made of plasterboard. It is important to accurately determine the location where the hole is needed. Here you will need an assistant to support the frame from below, pressing it firmly against the walls.
Guide holes must be made by drilling the rack profile, drywall, and frame timber.
It is necessary to prepare places for screwing in screws with hexagonal heads. There is no way to do this without a long drill.
The screws must be screwed in so that they connect necessary elements and locked into the racks. The lower tier, that is, the frame with a side, is installed in a similar manner.
The fence is of great importance in the overall design, since it creates certain safety guarantees for children.
The fence can be made of durable boards that are fixed to vertical racks. Here too, you should try to screw in the screws from the inside. Moreover, you need to keep in mind that there should be an opening in the fence for the stairs leading to the second tier.
A vertical ladder is easier to make and takes up less space compared to an inclined staircase.
First of all, it is necessary to properly secure two beams that will guide the child’s movement when ascending and descending. The steps for it are securely fixed with 6 mm bolts. Bolts that are longer should be used when attaching the top step with synchronous fixation of the ladder to the bed.
Of course, the tree needs significant pre-treatment.
If instead of wood, when making a children's bunk bed, you use laminated chipboard, then in this case some of the technological operations will remain on the sidelines of the process. Instead, you will only need to process and glue the edge onto the chipboard cuts. In practice, there will be a gain in time, appearance– will also gain a little.
Laminated chipboard has good characterization in terms of wear resistance and strength.
It is necessary to saw laminated chipboard outside, but the final work, with minimal dust and odor, can be comfortably carried out in the apartment.
It is necessary to take into account the difference in quality and specificity of the material and make certain clarifications in the manufacturing technology. Essentially, they are not very significant. A children's bed made from a laminated board will be several times heavier than one made from a board, but the product will gain additional stability.
When using chipboard, you will need completely different tools than in the case of wood:
To make a children's bunk bed with good quality, you will need not only laminated chipboard as a material, but also edges, glue, sandpaper, the tree will only be needed for the ladder leading to the second tier.
A big advantage in this case is the limited number of technological operations during operation.
They should only include
Bed fastening and finishing
Connecting the parts of a children's bunk bed is critical. It is best to properly connect the posts and side panels at the beginning of the process, then firmly fix the end panels to the side panels.
The result is a strong and reliable supporting structure. The frame intended for the mattress rests on bars attached from the inside to the side panels.
The upper tier ultimately has two boxes: with narrow panels and wide end ones. Meanwhile, at the lower tier, the narrow panels at the end will already be outside the box. This is not in vain, because they have a special role.
They are fixed with spikes and bolts in the lower part to the bed posts, covering the junction of the two levels, acting as a spacer, which completely eliminates the displacement of the posts of the lower tier in relation to the upper one. As for displacement in the direction of the longitudinal axis, inserted tenons are protected from it in the joint area.
In addition, all panels have additional fasteners; they are fixed to each other with insert pins and glue.
They can be fixed to the racks using special furniture bolts with decorative heads. Similarly, you need to consider the fastening of the stairs leading up.
The stability of the entire product also depends on it.
The finishing of a children's bunk bed has both aesthetic and practical significance. Meticulous polishing of the blanks before they begin to be assembled into a kind of two-story complex helps the new furniture fit into the existing design and increases its service life.
The same can be said about painting with enamel using several layers. It’s beautiful, but it’s also good for the wood, which makes the product look even more attractive.
A bunk bed is not just a resting and sleeping area for a child, it is a place where children will play, grow and develop. Because of this, children will often have disputes about who should sleep on the lower and who on the upper tier of the bed.
It's the same for parents sleeping area also very profitable. It takes up little space in the room compared to two beds facing each other.
DIY children's bunk bed
There are a lot of different models of beds.
You can always choose an option that both you and your baby will like. But such a purchase has one significant drawback - it will punch a serious hole in family budget. Therefore, it is worth thinking about the possibility of making such a bed yourself at home. This method also has a lot of advantages: the furniture will be made according to custom sizes and sketch, and you can also save significantly on components and work of a craftsman. And who doesn’t dream of earning fame? folk craftsman and masters?
Children's bunk bed
So, before you start making a children's bunk bed with your own hands, you will need to determine the place in the room where it will be installed, as well as purchase a ready-made mattress and measure everything required dimensions future piece of furniture.
But it is worth remembering that the bed is not made for one year, and therefore it is worth buying a mattress and making the bed itself to grow.
After the mattress has been purchased, you can begin drawing out a plan for the future bed, indicating all the parameters. And don’t think that you can do without a drawing and do everything by eye. It is difficult to make such a complex thing as a children's bunk bed with your own hands without drawings.
You should start preparing lumber for the bed based on the following dimensions:
To begin, prepare all necessary tool and materials:
For a children's bunk bed, you should choose material from pine or spruce.
It is environmentally friendly and easy to process. Of course, you can use a chipboard slab as a base, but it will weigh many times more, and it will have to be sawed in a special workshop. In order to make a bed you will need:
The thickness of the timber is 4 by 6 cm.
Now all the blanks should be cut strictly according to the drawing.
After this, they need to be sanded and treated with an antiseptic. Several holes should be drilled into the plywood. ventilation holes so that moisture does not accumulate under the mattress.
So, all the parts of the bed are ready, you can safely start assembling.
It will consist of several very important stages:
As you can see, there is nothing complicated.
All you need to make a bunk children's bed with your own hands is a great desire and a little imagination.
You can clearly see the manufacturing process in the video below.
Bed for two children - do it yourself
If the children's room is narrow, but elongated in length, then you can also install a two-level structure in it.
But it can be significantly improved and given additional properties. For example, you can attach a table to the side that will rise and unfold.
This table will be a great place for a child to work. And under it you can install a bedside table or drawers for clothes. Do you agree, a good option?
How do you like the old version? sea ship? The table here extends out wardrobe, in which both children can perfectly store their things, and also, by pulling out the table, do their homework.
An excellent option would be a model in which the table is hidden in the steps of the stairs.
You can make several of these tables - they will become a great place not only for work, but also for games, especially in girls’ rooms.
Original bunk beds
The two-level structure can be equipped with a rope on which children can swing and climb, and on the side of it you can hang a hammock, in which it will be convenient to swing and read books about adventures and travel.
It is worth remembering that a children's room is the only place in the house where a child can retire and be alone, play and meet with friends.
Therefore, it should be as functional as possible so that your child can feel comfortable and comfortable in it. So it’s worth making sure that the child’s sleeping place is decorated the way he wants. After all, little people have the same tastes as big people. But they are rarely listened to.
Give your child a gift - make a sleeping place for him with your own hands and with his help. Believe me, no one will be happier than him.
In our time quality furniture has quite high price, and cheap models do not inspire confidence at all. This article will tell you how, without special effort make a bunk bed with your own hands.
Strength and durability are the main characteristics of such a bed, which can withstand the weight of not only a child, but also an adult.
Materials and tools required for work:
4 pieces of beams 3 – 3.5 meters long;
4 pieces of beams 2.4 meters long;
wooden boards 3 – 3.5 meters long;
2 pieces of wooden plywood (if there is no plywood, chipboard will do);
mattress;
screws, screws, self-tapping screws;
polyurethane;
putty;
sandpaper;
drill;
saw;
tape measure and level;
machine (if not, you can use sandpaper).
First of all, you need to measure the mattress for your future bed.
To obtain a blank for the future frame, the bed must be added to the mattress by 2 cm on each side. When purchasing plywood and boards, ask sellers to cut the materials to your dimensions.
The next step is to carefully attach wooden board to the end of the frame.
This moment should be of the highest quality, as it affects the strength of the structure. Next, self-tapping screws are screwed in from the inside so that they do not pass through the board on the side. The process is very important, and the slightest flaw will force you to do everything all over again.
To cope with the installation, it is better to invite a specialist or assistant.
If you are making a bed for a child, make it safe in advance, which can be achieved by using guardrails to prevent accidents.
We tighten the screws from the inside. If the bed includes a barrier, then do not forget to leave room for a future staircase.
Stairs can be inclined or vertical, which depends only on your imagination, however, the second option is easier to do. To create such a staircase, two bars are installed.
To fasten the steps we use six-millimeter bolts. Longer bolts are used to secure the top step and the ladder itself to the bed.
We connect the plywood to the frame, and lay out the mattress on the resulting structure.
At this stage, the construction of the bunk bed ends. This bed can accommodate a child, teenager, and even an adult. Since the bed was assembled using bolts, this means that it can be easily disassembled and moved, which is very convenient when moving.
Plywood is practically ideal material for furniture production, although not in

Many parents, as their children grow, are faced with the problem of equipping a comfortable children's room.
This mainly applies to cases where a small and which element plays an important role internal space which can save space.
An extraordinary result of this position are bunk beds. They can be made in different versions, but each of them allows you to comfortably accommodate children at night, and during the day makes the room spacious and pleasant.
The functional type of such structures is bunk beds with a sofa for children.
They too often differ from the classics. This is a great place to relax that acts as a sofa in an elongated shape - one seat on the second "floor" and a double on the first.
There are many models from different manufacturers on sale.
And if you want to have a universal bed transformer, then it is better to buy a pre-fabricated model. In the end, all its mechanisms ensuring transformation must be good quality and function properly to ensure reliability and ease of use.
If you're happy with the traditional two-tier version, you can do it yourself.
For those who have some technical skills and know carpentry work, it won't be difficult.
Before you begin, you must determine the appearance of the structure itself and the dimensions of its main elements - sleeping rooms and stairs.
The size of a standard mattress is usually 800 x 1800 mm. From this we need to continue to plan residential areas. Their dimensions should be longer than 80 mm and 100 mm wider. In the place where the ladder is installed, another 50 mm must be added.
Now choose the height of each place and the entire structure as a whole. The base is the height of the room. And if you think that children love to jump on upper layer, and if it is higher, it is harder to breathe, so the layout above the first level is not necessarily very high.
Prepare a set of tools:
As for the material from which the bed linen is planned, solid wood is the most suitable.
Prepare plates of 40 x 140 mm, 18 x 140 mm, 40 x 80 mm and 30 x 30 mm. To determine their quantity, note what components the bed will consist of, the size of the disks and the number of them, so you can later use them to create these panels from the matrix.
Let this be the base under the mattress. To produce it you will need plywood - 2 sheets with dimensions 1000x1900x10 mm, and frame elements - 3 steel pipes with polymer coating.
In addition, the necessary hardware is supplied, including screws, decorative caps (washers), and adhesive.
It should be noted that in order to avoid bending of the boards from the massage, it should be stored for at least a week in a room so that they have the same temperature and humidity.
After this, all structural elements must be processed: sanded, leveled and painted.
This wood has a pleasant natural texture that cannot be painted, but only with linseed oil, which allows you to preserve the appearance of the tree.
Solid wood shelving and cabinet body should have longitudinal grooves for insertion of side and back panels. Cut them in two steps with a circular saw.
They are glued at the bottom and additionally screwed.
Place the ladder on a slope and secure it to the ground with steel corners.
Separately cut the front panels used for the plywood glued to the plastic. On the sides of the box, the poles are made of curved steel strip (1 mm).
In that quick guide you will get an idea of how to create a bunk yourself so that those who want to do so can choose the basic scope of work and the materials they need.
Saving living space is an urgent issue in small apartments. Good decision is a bunk bed made of wood.
It saves the necessary space and gives the room comfort. If you add drawers to it, the functionality will increase many times over. A well-made bed will last children until they grow up. After this, you can save it for your grandchildren or sell it at a profit. There is always a demand for such furniture.
Most choose the classic version of a wooden bed, when the beds are located one above the other and connected by a ladder.
A bunk bed allows you to accommodate two children in one room. Thanks to it, there is enough space for games and activities.
Practical model options:
Whatever wooden furniture you choose, it is important to take care of safety. It is better that the bunk bed is placed against the wall, and all sides of the top have a secure fence. If a child under 3 years old sleeps on the lower floor, a fence will also not hurt. Children often turn over in their sleep, so partitions will protect them from falls. When the baby grows up, the fence from the bottom can be removed.
Difference adult model from the nursery only in size. For children, a length of 160–170 cm is suitable; for older people, it is better to make a bed 190–200 cm. The width depends on the preferences of the individual and free space. In order not to spend money on additional ordering a mattress according to individual sizes, it is better to choose standard option– 70–90 cm.
Usually a do-it-yourself bunk bed is made from chipboard for country house with limited living space. It allows you to accommodate overnight guests. IN one-room apartments such furniture will be ideal solution if the family has added a child. He will be able to sleep on the top tier, and his parents on the bottom. In this case, the first floor should be designed for two.
It will also save space attic option from timber. Downstairs you can arrange a full workplace and sleep under the ceiling. If the housewife does not like people to sit on her bed, and the area of the apartment allows for either a sofa or a bed, you can install a two-tier model. The upper part will be a bed, and the lower part will be made in the form of a regular sofa.
The stores have a fairly wide selection of classic models, but they are not always suitable for a specific apartment. If you make a wooden bed yourself, you can solve several problems at once.
To create a bunk bed, you need to select the material. It is not necessary to look for a solid array. Yes, it makes excellent models that last a very long time, but they require special skills. The solid wood must be very good, only durable types of wood are suitable, they are usually expensive.
The following materials are used as a basis:
The process of creating a bed requires tools that are used when working with wood and metal. You will also need measuring instruments, pencil.
Making a two-level bed also involves a ladder. IN classic version The usual three-stage design is sufficient, but this is not necessary. It all depends on the chosen model. There are those where the ladder is replaced by ropes. The option with a slide looks very interesting, but you should not do it if the free space of the apartment does not allow it.
Ladders can be mounted vertically. They fit tightly to the frame and do not take up space. There are also inclined options, which are easier to climb. Ladder fastenings must be closed.
The classic staircase consists of steps and railings. It is these that the child will be able to hold on to while climbing to the top tier.
In order to know how much material, fasteners, and accessories will be used, you need to decide on the model of the bed. If a person can create a drawing of a children's bunk bed made of wood with his own hands, then it is enough to sketch it on a piece of paper. It can also be done in a special program for PC.
There are a few things to consider. Between the tiers you need to leave such a distance so that an adult can climb onto the lower bed without touching his head on the upper bunk, of course, if the height of the room allows it.
There should be enough distance between the second floor and the ceiling for the child to feel calm. Warm air accumulates at the top, so lack of space can negatively affect healthy, restful sleep.
The sleeping area must be designed taking into account standard mattresses. Then you can order them in any store.
Without having the skills to create drawings, you can choose a ready-made diagram.
To make a bunk bed that will become a favorite place for children to play and relax, you need to properly prepare the materials and process the details. Furniture makers in factories have access to a variety of equipment that makes the task much easier, but a good owner will also have the right tools.
Preparatory operations:
After the bed is assembled, it is disassembled to be finally connected using glue and screws. If flaws are identified, they are corrected. There is no need to rush into assembly, since the bed must be securely fastened and stable.
It is better for an inexperienced craftsman to start by creating a classic bunk bed. First, the base is made, and you need to act strictly according to the scheme. A rectangular box is created. To do this, boards are attached to the drawers; the angle should be 90 degrees. Supports in the form of bars are attached to the end parts with self-tapping screws. The crossbars on which the mattress will rest are placed in the created box.
To create the back you will need three boards. They need to be assembled with the racks of the structure using dowels and grooves. It is better that the connection elements are round, since the holes for them can be made with a drill of the appropriate diameter.
Note! Wood glue should be used only after preliminary fitting, when the dowels fit all the holes in the posts and boards.
The footboard is made in the same way as the backrest, the only difference is in the number of crossbars. The base of the second floor will rest on the top of the backrest and headboard, so it is important that they are level.
The upper tier is created according to the model of the lower one. It is secured with dowels. The structure should be reinforced with end boards. You can proceed to installing the stairs. The simplest option is when crossbars are attached to two posts. It is easier to use plywood for drawers. You need to screw special wheels to them that will guide their movement. Drawers are ideal for storing bedding, toys and other things.
If the material has not been pre-treated, ready bed coated with paint and varnish. It is better to use aqueous solutions, which are safer for health.
For a children's room, a pull-out bed is considered the safest; you can't fall too far from it. Partitions on two-story structures were not invented in vain, but sometimes children get up in their sleep and this can result in serious injury.
Plus pull-out bed is that in daytime The lower part retracts, thereby freeing up space for games. Children will not fight for space as the beds are not connected to each other. They are used separately.
You can make such a bed yourself from chipboard. The base is made of a solid board 18 mm thick. The shield is attached to the sides. The lower tier will slide out using four wheels.
A pull-out bed is a great space saver and is easy to make, but it does not allow you to store bedding in drawers.
Many parents are faced with the problem when the child does not want to sleep on his own. They just haven't yet created a decent shelter for him in the form of an attic bed. The design is so attractive that the child will happily exchange his parents' bed for the opportunity to sleep under the ceiling.
The main value of such a two-tier design is to save space. The bed is made on high posts, so the place to sleep is near the ceiling. Placed under the sun lounger work zone with table, chair. The only thing you should care about is good artificial lighting, since the bed will provide shade.
It is better to make a side staircase in the form of steps. IN simple design these can be ordinary wooden crossbars. With some effort, you can make steps in the form of drawers that are comfortable to walk on, sit on, and store a lot of things you need for studying in them.
The height from the floor to the second tier should be at least 120 cm. Although this depends on the person for whom the workplace is being created.
The loft bed can stand not only on stands, but also be attached to the wall or ceiling. The design depends on the selected drawing. If it was made from good wood, it is enough to open it with transparent varnish. A tree pattern always looks great in any room.
When your family is expecting an addition and this is not the first child, the question arises of an extra bed, which sometimes there is simply nowhere to put it. Buying such a bed, especially for young families, is quite expensive, so you may be faced with the question of how to make a bunk bed yourself and save money on it.

Classmates
Of course, for this you need not only the desire, but also familiarize yourself with the theory, watch the video course, purchase the required tools and materials, after which you can get to work.Simple bunk bed
First of all, in order to start making a bunk bed you need to purchase a certain set of materials.
Bunk bed with drawers
In order for a do-it-yourself children's bunk bed to become a reality, you need to acquire the necessary hand-held power tools:
Before you start assembling, you need to make a drawing of the bunk bed. It should look something like this:
Then you need to measure the size of the mattresses on which the children will sleep, and add another two centimeters to them, for more convenient tucking of the sheets. Then we take bars with a cross-section of 10*5 cm and make two frames, fastening them with screws. They will have dimensions of 300*240 cm.
After this, we attach a board with a cross-section of 15*2 cm to one of the frames. It is important to ensure that the screws and bolts do not come out. Since the bed is intended for children, exposed ends may cause injury. We fix another board with a section of 20*2 cm to the second frame structure. Then we make the legs of the bed from two bars (10*5 cm), and their height will be equal to the upper tier.
An assistant is needed for further operations. We make holes in the legs for hex head screws, at the level of the two tiers of the bed. In addition, you need to drill holes in frames with sides 15 and 20 cm wide.
To hide the heads, we drill holes, and after finishing the work we cover them with putty. We screw the screws into the holes. The legs to the frames must be fixed very securely. Then we level the wall if it is uneven and attach a frame with legs to it.
Using a water level, we check the evenness of the wall and the structure attached to it, and begin fixing it. By the way, the attic bunk bed, which we will talk about below, is installed in a similar way. In order to properly secure the bunk bed, we mark the locations of the holes for the dowels for screws with hexagonal heads and drill them.
Note!
If the walls are made of, then the hole must go through the frame, a sheet of drywall and definitely through metallic profile, for more secure fastening.
After securely fixing our bed, we need to install a fence made of boards with a section of 2*10 cm.
Children's bunk bed
So that the child can safely climb to the second tier, you need to make a ladder. It should be installed according to your tastes and the size of the room. You can make it look like a staircase in a train compartment, then it will not take up any space. In this case, it can even be used as a wall bars.
Or you can make a more complex structure, the so-called diagonal staircase. It looks nicer, but can also take up significant space. We complete our work by laying sheets of plywood or chipboard in the place where the mattresses will lie.
Note!
When determining the height of a bunk bed, you need to take into account that the child will sometimes want to jump on it, so it should not be installed too close to the ceiling.
If you have one child or two children who definitely want to sleep on the top shelves, then there is a way out of this situation - a do-it-yourself attic children's bed. It differs from a regular bunk bed in the absence of a lower tier and, accordingly, is characterized by a significant freeing up of space that can be used at your discretion. It is made in the same way as a standard bunk bed, but with less material and effort.
Usually the top tier is placed at a height of 80-180 cm. It all depends on your wishes. If the upper tier is located on maximum height, then you have more options to use the bottom free space. Otherwise, your options are somewhat narrowed, but parents have fewer signs to worry about their child falling from a great height.
In general, if an attic bunk bed excites your imagination, and you definitely decide to install it, then the main thing you need to do is decide on the distance between the upper tier and the ceiling. Firstly, you need to understand that the child is growing and he needs, if not standing, then at least sitting normally in bed. Secondly, it’s not very comfortable to sleep when you have the ceiling in front of your face. Third, flow warm air rises upward, so at a short distance to the ceiling, especially when high temperature surrounding air, the child will simply not have enough of it.
Bunk bed for children
As we have already understood from the above, the space under the upper tier can be used for the benefit of the child. For example, install a cabinet there. Such beds even got their own name - a loft bed with a wardrobe. They look like a monolithic structure, in which the wardrobe is located at the bottom, and the bed stands directly on it and is additionally fixed to the wall. This design looks as reliable as possible. Agree that in this case, space is used very efficiently. In addition to the closet, a study table with bedside tables, a computer table, or even a sports corner can be built into the design.

How to make a bunk bed with your own hands?
We measure the mattresses that you are going to use and leave a small margin of 1-2 cm. We get the size of our frame. We measure out pieces of the required size from the beams, saw them and fasten them with long self-tapping screws.
We saw off wide boards to fit the length and width of the frame and fasten them along the perimeter of the sides with drywall screws. For the upper berth you can use wider ones.
For this children's bunk bed, we use one leg, since it will be mounted in the corner on two adjacent walls.
Measure the required height distance from 10 cm of bars and fasten them with screws to each other, as shown in the image.
Pre-drill a hole in the top assembled frame to attach to the leg. Then drill a hole in the leg at bed height.
Drill holes in the assembled frames for wall mounting.
Screw the leg to the top frame and have someone hold the frame against the wall. Level the frame and mark the holes in the wall.

Video: how to make a children's bunk bed.
A children's room with a bunk bed is convenient. There are several advantages. Firstly, it saves space. And it’s not always a matter of small area, although this is a common problem. After all, even in a spacious room, it is advisable to leave as much free space as possible for outdoor games and toys. Secondly, you can organize the space in a more orderly manner: make drawers at the bottom, attach or add a cabinet to the side. Thirdly, the kids like this environment. And for both girls and boys. Moreover, you can build a children’s bed with your own hands in a couple of days.
There are many varieties of children's bunk beds. And it's not about the size, but about the designs. Let's start with the principles of construction:
The design is based on four vertical beams, to which all other parts are already attached.
A two-story loft bed is a great solution for a small space or competitive children
The choice of designs is great, but that's not all. Stairs add further variety. They can be as ordinary as wall bars or in the form of steps or boxes stacked on top of each other. Most economical option- ordinary: they require little material and take up little space. But you can put things in a ladder of drawers, like in a chest of drawers, which is also practical. And such steps are even more reliable: you can attach high railings to them to make them even safer.
Stairs made of rungs or steps can be located in front - along the long side of the beds. At the same time, they are sometimes made in the center, sometimes on the right or left. Another option is stairs from the end. They are also made vertical, and then they take up almost no space, and sometimes at an angle. It’s easier to climb on these, but it’s not always possible to place them: the space doesn’t allow it, and it’s easy to get caught on the protruding legs.
For the frame, they mainly use wooden beads or make it from boards. Here are the options below. All other elements can be made from boards. This material is natural, but working with it is not easy and takes a long time: every detail requires careful processing, and there are many of them, since the boards are usually not wide, otherwise such a bed will look rough. If you have any skills, it's worth a try. If not, better use other materials.
A do-it-yourself bunk bed can be built faster if the parts are cut out of sheet material: Chipboard, or . It is better to take chipboard; the same can be found in plywood. It can also be painted: if you take birch furniture plywood. She looks good. It is only important to saw off evenly so that there are no chips along the edge.
Chipboard edges can be treated with special tapes. They are self-adhesive; they are glued through a rag using regular iron. Only these materials have an unpleasant feature: their production uses a binder that releases formaldehyde into the air. Since the substance is harmful, its quantity is monitored and regulated. For the manufacture of children's furniture, fiberboard and plywood with emission class E1 are allowed. In terms of the amount of substance released, it is no more harmful than wood.
Regarding how big or small to make the bed when children are still small. In principle, you can immediately install a full-size bed. It just seems like it will take a long time for them to grow up. In fact, before you know it, “children’s” sizes will become small. And then the problem arises: where to put the old bed. Naturally, it’s a shame to throw it away, but used furniture doesn’t sell very well. Therefore, recommendations: make a standard size bed right away: 1*2 m or so.
Drawing of a double-decker bed frame and necessary materials
To save space in small room It was decided to make a bed on the second floor, and equip a workstation for a computer on the first floor. If necessary, by adding a jumper in front and making a shield under the mattress, you can also make a sleeping place on the first tier.
A drawing was developed and materials were calculated. It was decided to make the frame from spliced boards. This is both cheaper and more reliable: a guarantee that the pillars will not twist when drying. Therefore, boards were purchased, as well as small-section timber for strapping. The width of the bed is made to match the size of the existing mattress
The following materials were needed:
The board was purchased already planed and sanded: the farm does not yet have equipment for processing it. Let's start right away with making the pillars:
The option is simple. To implement it, you only needed a screwdriver, a wood saw and fasteners. This assembly option is for those who are unfamiliar with carpentry and find it difficult to make cuts and grooves. If you really don’t like the protruding fasteners, you can cover them with decorative overlays: thin planks can be placed on glue. They will hide all the imperfections of the assembly.
