Waterproofing is laid on the finished foundation, most often waterproofing or roofing felt, so that the brick does not absorb moisture from the soil and does not deteriorate longer. Land works

A fence made of brick and corrugated sheets is installed on a strip foundation.

To save on transport, upper layer soil can be poured and used as fertilizer on the site.

The volume of soil will be only about three cubic meters, so an expensive excavator will not be needed to carry out excavation work. Handmade are carried out with shovels and bayonet shovels; a crowbar is also useful.


If the soil is not rocky, a trench with a volume of about 4 cubic meters will be dug by two workers in 5 hours, taking into account smoke breaks.

Manufacturing of formwork

When the trench for a brick fence with corrugated sheets has already been dug, you can immediately begin formwork. It is assembled only for the base part and is installed 10-20 cm below ground level. A durable and inexpensive semi-edged board is suitable.

Assembly of the formwork begins before pouring the foundation with additional fastening of the boards with wooden lintels and brick supports. The shields are assembled directly in the trench, starting from the top board.

For further reinforcement of the foundation, 10 mm reinforcing rods are needed, which are installed in the trench every 1.5 meters.

The assembled frame, fastened with 1 mm thick wire, is lowered into the formwork.

To strengthen the brick pillars, a corner or pipes are installed into the formwork when the rod frame and formwork are completely ready. They are leveled and secured with boards.

Foundation preparation and installation

The thickness of the foundation may vary: under the pillars the width can be as planned, but under the corrugated sheet it can narrow. This way you can reduce the amount of excavation work and save concrete. True, then it is much more difficult to assemble the formwork.

The optimal foundation depth for fence posts is the depth of soil freezing, that is, about a meter.

Under corrugated sheets, where the fence will experience less load, the depth of the foundation is reduced to half a meter.

Depending on the terrain, the foundation for the fence is poured differently. It is considered the most difficult.

To build a fence you will need to use a concrete mixer:

After pouring, the concrete is covered with polyethylene so that the surface dries evenly with the base. In warm weather, complete stripping is carried out after 7 - 10 days.

The brick is laid with cement-sand mortar in a ratio of 1 to 3, and a little liquid soap is added to make it plastic.

Type of brickwork

Every day they lay no more than 0.5 meters in height, simultaneously filling the gap between the metal column and the brick.

For strength, each row is reinforced with a special mesh.

When erecting a fence made of brick and corrugated sheets with your own hands, you need to remember that the distance between the brick supports should not exceed 3 meters.

The height of the fence depends on the design of the site, wind load and the height of the profiled sheets.

When securing the fence, brick pillars and corrugated sheets, use embedded plates and corners in the center, top and bottom of each post.

Installing covers

Galvanized steel covers are installed on top of a fence made of corrugated sheets with brick pillars, which will give the pillars a finished look and protect them from water. They are attached from below with dowels to the brick.

When choosing concrete covers, pay attention to painted ones. mineral pigment.

This paint does not wash off, and the color does not fade over time. They are laid on columns with cement-sand mortar.

Frame assembly

After 2 days of settling the concrete in the formwork, a frame is assembled from a profile pipe, to which the corrugated sheet will be attached.

The pipe is cut into pieces of the required length, on which marks are placed at the places where the horizontal pipes are attached. Correct position pipes are checked using a level.

The frame is assembled by 2 workers. After welding, the frame is painted with alkyd enamel.

The final stage

  • The installation of a fence made of corrugated board and brick is completed with the installation of a profiled sheet.
  • The foundation is first covered with cardboard so as not to damage the bottom edge of the sheet.
  • Places for screwing in self-tapping screws are marked at a rate of 6 pieces per meter.
  • The corrugated sheet is attached with a drill at low speeds to the profile pipe in the lower part through each wave using rubber gaskets. The sheets are overlapped.

A 15-meter brick fence with corrugated sheeting can be erected in about 2 weeks. Beautiful fence It is quite possible to install bricks and corrugated sheets with your own hands, and hire a specialist only to install brick pillars and construct the frame.

Is it possible to build a strong and powerful fence from corrugated sheets, while maintaining low cost and speed of production?

Our answer is that it is possible if you make a fence with brick posts, combining the advantages of an expensive brick fence with budget option on a steel frame. Using the example below, you will learn how to make a base for a fence from facing bricks and fill its openings with inexpensive, high-quality corrugated sheeting. Such a fence will be strong, but light, cheap, but quite solid and beautiful.

Choosing a fence design

The first step in building a fence is drawing up its design and choosing a design. You need to decide where the corrugated fence will go, decide on its thickness and choose the level of the foundation. To begin drawing up the project, you need to install pegs at the points where the corners of the fence are located and stretch a nylon thread along them. Now you need to take measurements of the sides using a construction tape and draw up a design plan for the fence.

In the example under consideration, the corrugated fence will be narrow enough to save some space next to the driveway. To do this, select the appropriate design of brick pillars (see figure). They have a front side width of one and a half bricks, and a side width of one brick, or 25 cm. To strengthen the load-bearing pillars (a), a profiled pipe 40x40x2 mm is laid in them. The construction of such columns is carried out with reinforcement and ligation of even rows of masonry with galvanized mesh with a section of 25x25x1 mm. The posts intended for fastening gates and wickets (b) are additionally reinforced with steel pipes 88x2.8 mm. In this example, bricks with one and two beveled corners are used.

We draw up a foundation project

A reinforced concrete foundation will be the best foundation for brick pillars. Fence made of corrugated sheets with monolithic strip foundation will look solid, and the foundation itself will reliably protect the site from street animals and rainwater flows. The width of the foundation in our example is equal to the width of the brick pillars.

If there is a large difference in heights on the site, it is better to break the foundation with steps

In our example, the site had large differences in height (more than 0.5 m per 10 m of length). When constructing a single-level foundation strip, we would be faced with a serious overuse of concrete. In addition, when installing the gate, the foundation level may be quite high, i.e. There will be a gap between the ground and the gate. To avoid these difficulties, the foundation is divided into several sections with different levels. The height of the foundation above ground level does not fall below 10 cm, so that during rain, dirt does not accumulate on the upper plane of the foundation.

You can make a foundation strip with the same thickness (in the picture on the left) or with different thickness - full under the posts and narrow under the corrugated sheet (in the picture on the right). Foundations with different thicknesses make it possible to reduce excavation work and reduce concrete consumption, but in this case it is more difficult to assemble the formwork. Since in our case the thickness of the tape is small (25 cm), we chose the option with a foundation of the same thickness.

In the example given, the foundation under brick pillars was laid to a depth of soil freezing - 1 m. This made it possible to guarantee the stability and immobility of the foundation, therefore, the reliable functioning of the gates attached to the steel pipes in the pillars. In less critical places (under the steel posts to which the corrugated sheeting is attached), the depth of the foundation was 0.5 m. This made it possible to save on work and concrete.

Since the depth of the foundation sections for the corrugated fence was different, they were not combined into a single structure.

First of all, this is due to the fact that the buoyant forces of the soil will affect the foundation located at different depths differently. If such sections are connected into a single structure, the less buried sections of the foundation will take a greater load and simply deform the remaining sections, destroying the structure. Such deformations are especially dangerous for the part of the tape on which the gate posts are located, as this will lead to disruption of their functioning.

To effectively counteract soil heaving, the force of which tends to push the foundation out of the ground, it is made to expand towards the bottom.

We carry out earthworks

During excavation work, a problem may arise with the removal of open soil, because when excavated it turns out to be more than the expected volume, since loosened soil takes up about 1.5 times more space than compacted soil. It is not always possible to place land near or inside the site, and it has to be removed. For export, 40-50 kg of it are poured into polypropylene bags, while per 1 cubic meter. m. about 30 bags are required.

In order to save on soil removal, its top layer was poured separately. Later it will be useful on the farm or neighbors may take it.

The volume of selected soil was about 3 cubic meters. m., therefore, given the small space for maneuvers, digging trenches with an excavator was impractical. Approximate prices earthworks we show in Table 1

For dense soils, shovels with an angular bayonet are not used

To perform earthwork manually you needed:

  • rock shovel (subspecies shovel);
  • bayonet shovel.

It should be remembered that you should use a straight bayonet shovel, since if the bayonet is at an angle, it is much more difficult to dig with it. Two workers coped with digging a trench of 4 km. m. in five hours with several breaks. The ground was without stones.

We construct the formwork

Once the trenches have been dug, you can begin arranging the formwork. It is assembled to the height of the foundation base and 20 cm below the ground surface. For formwork installation, a regular semi-edged board is usually used.

The formwork is assembled using wood screws, having previously drilled holes with an electric drill. Since the concrete will exert significant pressure, the boards should be additionally secured with brick supports and wooden lintels. It should be borne in mind that it will no longer be possible to straighten the boards after pouring the foundation with concrete. In addition, the panels should be assembled in a trench, and they are assembled from the top board installed along the thread marking the upper level of the foundation.

In order for the fence made of corrugated sheets to be strong, the foundation under it is strengthened with reinforcement rods (10 mm). Vertical rods are installed at a distance of 1.5 m from each other, and for horizontal reinforcement, four rods are installed: two 10 cm from the base of the foundation and two 5 cm from the top surface of the fill. To protect the reinforcement from corrosion, it must be located in concrete at a depth of at least 3 cm.

It is convenient to assemble the reinforcement cage on the ground, and already in assembled form place it in the formwork. The reinforcement is assembled using tying wire with a diameter of 1 mm. The connections of the longitudinal reinforcement bars are made with an overlap (about 20 cm).

Before concreting the foundation, the pillars should be reinforced with corners

After assembling the reinforcement frame and formwork, pipes or corners are inserted into the latter to strengthen the brick pillars (see figure). They are leveled and secured with boards. This is a simple operation and can be easily done by one person.

To save money, you don’t have to build a foundation in those areas where the corrugated sheeting will be attached to steel pipes, i.e. no brick pillars. In this case, the pipes are concreted into holes about 60 cm deep and 50x50 cm in size. Before pouring concrete, the pipes are leveled and secured with wire to spacers so that distortions do not occur during concreting.

We carry out concrete work

It is better to mix concrete with a concrete mixer. To avoid carrying it to the pouring site, the concrete mixer should be placed in front of the formwork. Here is an approximate sequence of work when mixing concrete:

  • set the concrete mixer at an angle of 35-45 degrees, pour crushed stone into it. It will help remove the remains of concrete from the previous batch and will not allow sand and cement to stick to the walls of the concrete mixer;
  • pour concrete additive and half of the water into the concrete mixer;
  • after mixing the crushed stone and water, add half the sand;
  • mix the mixture for half a minute, then set the concrete mixer at an angle of 60 degrees (this will prevent sand and cement from sticking to the wet walls), pour in the cement and the remaining half of the sand;
  • lower the concrete mixer to 35-45 degrees and add the remaining water. If, after two minutes of operation of the concrete mixer, no unmixed sand is visible, unload the concrete mixer.

It is advisable to load the concrete mixer at half the volume, since a large load lengthens the time quality training concrete.

The concrete mixer must be placed next to the formwork, the productivity of concrete work increases

Composition of the concrete we used for the foundation (in volume fractions):

  • 1 — cement (PTs-400);
  • 6 - crushed stone;
  • 3 - sand;
  • 0.7 - water
  • 0.1 percent of the cement mass is a plasticizing additive.

To produce more frost-resistant concrete, as well as for more convenient installation, we used a plasticizing additive - liquid household soap (10 ml for each bucket of cement).

If you don't have a concrete mixer, you can prepare the concrete by hand. This is done like this:

  • take a container of about 100 liters (if not available, use a steel sheet of at least 1.5 x 1.5 m);
  • 1 container (bucket) of cement and 3 containers of sand are poured into the container, which are mixed with a garden rake;
  • 10 ml of liquid soap and water are poured into the bucket almost to the top. It is important that the soap forms a rich foam. The more it is, the better the concrete is plasticized, the easier it will be to mix and lay;
  • water is mixed with cement and sand;
  • 6 containers of crushed stone are poured onto the resulting solution, after which the mixture is mixed.

It will take about 30 minutes to mix 100 liters of concrete. Concrete mixed in this way is approximately 20% less strong than that obtained in a concrete mixer due to more water (if you pour less water, it will be very difficult to knead manually). However, for concreting our foundation for a fence made of corrugated sheets, this quality of concrete is sufficient.

After pouring, exposed concrete should be covered with plastic film to prevent the surface from drying out too quickly. At warm weather(about 25 degrees) stripping should be done after a week.

Assembling a steel fence frame

Before welding the fence frame, the profile pipes are installed according to the level

If the concrete has stood in the formwork for two days, you can begin assembling the frame. Assembly is done using arc welding from profile pipes 20x40x2 mm.

The frame for a fence made of corrugated sheets can be assembled as follows:

  • cut profile pipes into sections of the required length;
  • place pipe attachment marks on the vertical posts (30 cm from the edge of the fence);
  • attach the pipes one at a time to the supports and secure them by welding on one side in the area of ​​the marks;
  • check the position of the pipe using a level;
  • make welding.

The frame on which the corrugated fence is mounted is easier to assemble with two people. For welding, a welding inverter with a maximum power of 6.2 kW is used. If a circuit breaker trips during welding (usually switches larger than 15 A are not installed in a private house), you should install a switch designed for higher power during welding work.

On a section of the fence about 15 m long, welding work lasted about two hours.

After welding, the steel frame must be painted, for example, with alkyd enamel. If the metal is not yet covered with a thick layer of rust, you do not need to use rust converters before painting.

We build brick pillars

In the construction of columns it is used facing brick. You can hire an experienced bricklayer for the work.

Here is an approximate order of work for further construction work:

  • purchase and delivery of bricks;
  • ordering corrugated sheets (custom sheets are made to order within a week);
  • bricklaying (for the fence in question this is four days);
  • delivery and installation of corrugated sheets.

Brick laying is done using a cement-sand mortar (1 to 3) with the addition of liquid soap. During the working day, the master erects columns to a height of 0.5 (one at a time). During the laying process, the gap between the bricks and the steel column is filled with mortar. Additional reinforcement is given to the masonry by reinforcement with steel mesh 50x50x4 mm.

The last stage of decoration is installing covers on fence posts. After this, the columns will acquire additional expressiveness, and their ends will be reliably protected from moisture.

The most popular types of covers for decorative design of columns

After installing the covers, the corrugated fence looks much more solid. The materials for the manufacture of decorative covers are painted or galvanized steel, as well as concrete. Metal covers last as long as corrugated sheets, and the durability of concrete ones greatly depends on the quality source material. High-quality concrete covers can last more than 15 years.

Of the colored lids, the best ones are those painted with mineral pigment. Over time, it will not wash off and the paint colors will not fade.

Concrete covers are installed using cement-sand mortar, and steel covers are installed using dowels.

We install corrugated sheets on the frame

After the construction of the columns, corrugated sheeting can be installed. Installation requires two workers. To avoid scratching the lower end of the corrugated sheeting, cardboard is laid on the concrete of the foundation. Before installation, mark the screws using a black marker on the corrugated sheet.

The corrugated sheeting is attached to a profile pipe 20x40x23 mm using an electric drill and galvanized roofing screws 4.8x30 mm with the obligatory rubber gaskets. Sheets of corrugated sheets are attached with an overlap.

Fastening is done through one wave on the lower section of the corrugation. Thus, to install 1 m of corrugated sheeting you need six self-tapping screws. When tightening, it is better to set the drill at low speeds, since at high speeds the cutting edge of the screw will get very hot and grind down.

The construction of such a fence by two builders takes about two weeks (without downtime). The cost of a 9-meter fence with six brick pillars was 36 thousand rubles, that is, 4 thousand rubles per linear meter.
