Preparing bait at home. Composition of homemade bait

Greetings, dear fishing enthusiasts. Today I want to tell you a recipe for winter bait for crucian carp, which you can prepare at home. Surely most of you know that catching this fish in winter brings a lot of difficulties, however, it is possible and necessary to catch it.

This article will be a kind of addition to what has already been written about , I hope that you will listen to my recommendations. So, if you want to make bait yourself, and what would be the result, then let’s get down to business.

What you need for cooking

Traditionally, I’ll start with the necessary utensils, although they are almost always the same. To prepare we will need:

  1. The frying pan is preferably deep
  2. A couple of bowls to distribute the ingredients
  3. Naturally a coffee grinder to grind cereals
  4. Well, the actual measuring cup (which will be called a part)

We will fry the ingredients in a frying pan to remove extraneous odors. This is especially true in winter. Bowls can be read as “containers” in which we will mix bait. The main thing is that there are enough containers for the volume of bait.

A coffee grinder is a must, and a meat grinder cannot replace it! A measuring cup, or a mug, or a thimble, anything into which you can pour the ingredient, in other words, a PART. Determine the size of the part based on the volume of bait required.

Ingredients

Everything here is not very simple, since all reservoirs are different, you will have to divide the components among different reservoirs, that is:

  • Reservoirs where only crucian carp are found (usually small quarry-type lakes)
  • Reservoirs with other types of fish (including rivers)
  • There is another type of reservoir, where is it better not to catch crucian carp in winter, these are ponds with a lot of silt. Such places can be identified by the abundant vegetation along the banks (trees, tall grass, bushes.) Such ponds work well for the last ice.

Be careful, well-heated components do not need flavorings; you can use different flavors only if other fishermen use them!

Now let’s start figuring out which body of water to cook what on.

Karas reservoirs

Here bait is not so important as attracting the attention of the fish. Therefore we take:

  1. Breadcrumbs (white) - 1 part
  2. Ground pearl barley – 1 part
  3. Salt – 1 teaspoon (if severe frost from 15 degrees)
  4. Ground hemp seed - 1 part
  5. Flour – 1 part
  6. Groundbait bloodworm (the more the better)

Rusks, pearl barley and hemp need to be ground and heated in a frying pan separately.

Mix the first 5 components and moisten with distilled water (you can take store-bought drinking water and boil it) just before going fishing. At the pond we crush the bloodworms into a “porridge” and add them to the bait.

Be careful, the bait should be loose and crumbly. In general, you need to achieve such an effect when complementary foods sink very slowly BUT DOES NOT FLOAT!

The bait works as follows:

  1. A column of turbidity with the aroma of bloodworms appears in the water
  2. The crucian carp, although in a sleepy state, sees this dregs
  3. Since there are no competitors, the flock boldly (although not quickly) approaches this place.

Bait for ponds with other fish species

On such reservoirs, the composition of the bait is not so important as the tactics. The composition may include the following components:

  1. Any crackers
  2. Bran
  3. Ground biscuits
  4. Ground cereals
  5. Animal ingredients (very carefully, so as not to attract a predator)
  6. Ground flax or hemp seeds

You can take any proven composition for or and feed it a little. You can also use store-bought winter bait. The purpose of baiting here is to attract other peaceful fish to the bait spot.

I repeat, feed with a small portion, one ball the size of an orange is enough, otherwise you will have to wait a long time until the fish finishes everything. The point is to show the crucian carp that there is something to eat there, and when he approaches, offer him a tasty bait.

When there is competition, the crucian carp is reluctant to approach the bait spot, it will stand to the side (this is clearly visible in the video at 1:36), since it does not like to actively move and fight for food. Only when the other fish eats and leaves will the crucian carp swim up.

In winter, it is not easy to catch crucian carp; in order not to be left without a catch, you must know that crucian carp are biting or were bitten last year in a given reservoir.

  1. Drill several holes and feed everything
  2. Feed in small portions, otherwise you will have to wait a long time.
  3. The ball of bait is not larger size orange is better than 3 balls with a walnut
  4. When feeding this portion, you need to wait about 2 hours
  5. Do not catch other fish while waiting, as this may scare away the crucian carp. If you want to fish, drill a separate hole away from the crucian carp and fish.
  6. In winter, crucian carp do not like games, so catch them with a stationary bait
  7. The best tackle for crucian carp is considered to be a nodding rod
  8. At the slightest flinch of the nod, immediately make a hook, although here you need to look at the circumstances, if the hooks are idle, wait until two or three bites

Most fish feed no less actively in winter than in spring, summer or autumn. And if you feed the fish and keep it under the hole, you can get a good catch. Store-bought baits do not always have the necessary components for baits, so making them yourself is a less expensive and very effective way.

Winter bait options

In reservoirs without a current, bait is poured into the hole and mixed there. After some time, it swells and falls down. For long-term fishing, it is recommended to add the mixture in small quantities. Anglers who have to fish in reservoirs with strong currents need to dilute the bait with sand and water, and when the ball is formed, it must be lowered into the hole. The use of feeders is undesirable because fish are shy in winter, and feeding them can ruin their appetite.

For bream

This fish is very popular among fishermen in winter. After all, even a small bream looks compared to roach and perch big fish. And since bream is considered a schooling fish, you can get a good catch if you accurately hit the hole with bait in the hole where this fish is found. If you manage to find a habitat for bream, then you can carry fish throughout the winter season.

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of millet;
  • 250 grams of bloodworms;
  • 250 grams of corn flour;
  • 250 grams of cake;
  • 250 grams of crustaceans.

To prepare bait balls you need to do this:

  1. boil the millet;
  2. mix flour and cake;
  3. at the fishing site, add bloodworms and crustaceans to the mixture;
  4. drop the ball into the hole.

For roaches

As a rule, roach and bream come to bite together. And at the time when the fisherman expects to catch a bream, he comes across small roach. Therefore, making universal bait will serve as a good reason to catch this or that fish. In any case, the catch will be maximum.

The ingredients for creating bait for roaches are as follows:

  • 300 grams of corn flour;
  • 250 grams of crackers;
  • 250 grams of peas;
  • 150 grams of fried buckwheat;
  • 100 grams of pearl barley;
  • 100 grams of anise or hemp, lightly roasted.

It is important that pearl barley and buckwheat do not burn. Grinding of products can be done through a meat grinder. The resulting mixture is packaged in bags.

When the angler puts bait into the hole, it should be mixed with water and sand and allowed to sit for 10 minutes.

Recipe for roach No. 2:

  • 200 grams of roasted seeds;
  • 250 grams of orange zest;
  • 1500 grams of breaded breadcrumbs;
  • 200 grams of millet;
  • 50 grams of daphnia or bloodworms;
  • some chopped shrimp.

All components are mixed into one mass and packaged in plastic bags.

Before fishing, all you have to do is moisten the mixture a little with water and wait 10 minutes. For initial feeding you will need about 10 frozen balls.

For perch

This fish is picky about food, especially in winter, and making a simple mixture to catch it will require the following ingredients:

  1. find a mold from under chicken eggs;
  2. pour a spoonful of yellow sand into each cell;
  3. then add a little bloodworm;
  4. pour water into the cells;
  5. place the mixture in the freezer.

Just a bloodworm is also an option, but only if there is no current, otherwise it will be carried away

Under the weight of the sand, this bait will sink perfectly to the bottom, where it will attract fish. There the ice will melt and release the bloodworms. The fish will circle around the prey until it grabs it. After this, the perch can be fished out.

Winter bait for this fish differs from spring bait in that its quantity must be kept minimal so as not to saturate the fish, but only to stimulate its appetite.

For dace

The dace only needs to be lured, not fed, in order to be caught. He immediately rushes to the food if the fisherman guessed the place where this fish was caught.

Recipe No. 1

  1. soak the white bread crumb in water;
  2. mix it with oatmeal porridge;
  3. add 200 grams of fried seeds and mince everything;
  4. mix the resulting mixture with water and soil from the reservoir where fishing will take place.

Recipe No. 2

  1. Take two plastic bags.
  2. In one bag we crumble the loaf and pour boiling water, and in the other – crushed peas and millet.
  3. When the preparation is made and mixed, we go fishing. You will need small pebbles from the pond. They need to be covered with the mixture from the first bag and placed in the second bag. The resulting bait in the form of balls is thrown into the holes, and while it slowly sinks and swells, the fish swims to feed.

Recipe No. 3

  • crackers;
  • vanillin;
  • seeds;
  • cocoa.

In water, the bait will attract the attention of the fish, and the pronounced aroma will become a drug for the dace.

To keep the fish in one place, you need to add bloodworms or a worm (finely chopped) to the bait balls.

The proportions for preparing bait for dace will be as follows:

  • 40% complementary feeding;
  • 60% of the soil is from a pond or clay.

For crucian carp

The bait is suitable for catching crucian carp and small carp.

Important components:

  • fragrant tubes that are put on a fishing line or hook;
  • crushed bloodworms;
  • breadcrumbs;
  • Mix the soil from the pond with the prepared mixture.

Flavored components:

  • ground pepper;
  • vanilla;
  • Melissa;
  • anise;
  • tangerine zest and so on.

If there are no crucian carp or very few in the reservoir, then bait will attract other fish. The components are universal.

For the bream

In some reservoirs, bait can also work on carp.

The bait must contain:

  • 150 grams of bloodworms;
  • 250 grams of breaded breadcrumbs;
  • 250 grams of bran;
  • a pack of roasted seeds.

It is not advisable to mix bloodworms with plant bait.

Bream and other carp love sweets - add anise, berries, vanillin. This will increase the bite, especially in cold weather.

Any bait can be sifted through a sieve. For fishing, lumps in the bait will not work, and to get high-quality food for the fish, you need to work a little. It is best to make the mixture at home rather than in the cold.

How to increase your fish catch?

Over 7 years of active fishing, I have found dozens of ways to improve the bite. Here are the most effective ones:

  1. Bite activator. This pheromone additive attracts fish most strongly in cold and warm water. .
  2. Promotion gear sensitivity. Read the appropriate manuals for your specific type of gear.
  3. Lures based pheromones.

How to prevent bait from being washed away by the current

Many anglers encounter currents while fishing, especially when using bait to attract fish. It turns out that the bait material leaves a trail of food that floats with the flow. If you use a feeder, you can hold the bait.

After moistening the bait with water, mix it with soil from the pond in a 1:1 ratio.

The bait should be heavy so that it washes out within 5 minutes. This can be done in the following ways:

  • weight the mixture with soil;
  • add soil to the bait;
  • add gravel chips or pebbles, which will help sink the bait faster.

There is a lot of advice in this article, and every angler, whether a beginner or a professional, will be able to learn a lot of new things. Therefore, we wish you successful fishing!

Making bait for roach in winter with your own hands at home is a working option for the amateur fisherman. Fishing stores are overflowing with ready-made mixtures. The authors of YouTube videos encourage the use of factory bait, forgetting to mention that they receive an affiliate commission for advertising this mixture. This does not mean that store-bought baits are bad. There are times when their use is advisable.

Winter bait for roaches is a whole ritual. In different bodies of water and under different fishing conditions, a certain recipe or mixture will work better than others. To detect this, several kilograms of feeding mass are consumed over several fishing trips. And for an amateur fisherman, constantly using store-bought options is simply too expensive. What will you choose for lunch - good natural food or a plastic doshirak with a sausage made from a protein substitute? Fish is also a living organism, and properly prepared bait from natural ingredients will leave the store-bought mixture with dyes and food additives out of competition.

Bait is not just porridge poured into a hole to attract fish. This approach is unlikely to lead to roach biting; small crucian carp will most likely gather on the lumps of stuck together bait. Roaches are active in winter and their tastes are very specific. There are a million recipes for baits and flavors for fishing. To be successful in this matter, especially on an unfamiliar body of water, when the preferences of the roach are unknown, the fisherman develops his own algorithm for the use and composition of bait. Despite the variety of options, there are some mandatory points specifically for roach. They are determined by the peculiarities of winter behavior, which must be taken into account - the entire concept of proper winter bait for roach is based on this. Let's figure out what kind of bait roaches like in winter, as well as how to properly feed this fish in winter time under different fishing conditions.

Current feeder

When fishing in strong currents

Bait in winter when there is a current will only be effective if placed correctly. At shallow depths and medium currents, it can be delivered to the bottom using the standard method - a dump truck. The mixture needs to be dense and sticky enough so that the force of the jet does not immediately wash away the lump and carry it out of the fishing zone.

Feeding roach in the current

In a strong flow, it is better to use a special feeder for the current, lowered into the water through a separate hole above the traps. In this case, a trail of fine particles in the water and heavy pieces rolling along the bottom. It is important that the bait of the fishing rod is located in it. On bottom gear in winter, ordinary feeders are used instead of sinkers. On such equipment, it would be logical to use a retractable leash.

Using a feeder feeder

For fishing in still water

If in the current you can get confused with the consistency (the current will wash it away anyway), then in calm water the bait for winter fishing for roach must meet all the requirements:

  1. The mass is loose and quickly disintegrates at the bottom into small particles.
  2. Despite the first point, it must mold, that is, disintegrate not instantly, but gradually.
  3. Already when lowering into the hole, particles of the mixture should begin to separate from the main lump and float in the water column.
  4. It should not contain a lot of large and rich food particles that will quickly feed the fish.
  5. The mixture generates dust in water, that is, it releases microparticles that cannot be eaten. Clouds of turbidity are created in the fishing zone.
  6. It is desirable to have animal elements - bloodworms, daphnia, jigs, etc. there is a lump in the mass.

For winter roach fishing, bait is used carefully, in small quantities. The purpose of this event is to collect fish and keep them in the fishing zone, as well as to activate them in case of low activity. Feeding into a hole at depths of up to 3 meters is done with balls directly into it. In deep places, it is advisable to use a dump truck feeder, otherwise the bait will scatter under the hole into large area, forming too wide a feeding spot.

Important! In severe frost, make balls immediately or keep the wet bait warm so that it does not freeze.

Tactics for catching roach in winter involve drilling and feeding several holes, followed by checking. If there are no bites, then we move on until the roach’s parking place is found. For the first and last ice, you don’t have to wait long and don’t need to feed a lot. A little feeding, 5 minutes to check the hole. In the middle of nowhere, we wait longer, sometimes even a couple of hours (especially if the angler is sure that the fish are here). In the middle of winter, roaches gather for quite a long time, as they move slowly and reluctantly.

The mistake that novice fishermen make when feeding roach is to feed them one time or over an area. Feed correctly - a little bit at a time throughout the entire fishing trip. Therefore, when searching, do not make holes closer than 10 meters (so as not to feed over the area, as a result of which the fish will scatter throughout this area). If there are bites, do not forget to throw a pinch of food into the hole every 10-15 minutes, otherwise the roach will leave.

You can't pour too much. For starting feeding, one ball (dump truck) per hole is enough. And if the process has started, then periodically it is necessary to supplement the food in small portions - one ball the size of a walnut or less. The same algorithm is used for night fishing from ice. When the roach is actively biting in the water column, dry bait is poured directly into the hole to form a feeding column that holds the fish. When actively fishing with a reelless bait, you can also feed it. To do this, several holes are drilled, a small ball of fertilizer is thrown into each, and then a check is made.

Let's watch and listen to the champion. This happens in the summer, but the “golden rules” for roach have been announced and work in winter:

Tactics for forming feeding tables

Winter fishing for roach with bait can be done using feeding tables.

This approach will be relevant under the following conditions:

  • No flow;
  • Large body of water (reservoir);
  • The time is deep winter;
  • Knowing that there are a lot of large roaches here;
  • The ability to frequently visit a reservoir and accurately locate the feeding site (for example, using GPS);
  • Other fishermen did not “burn” all these manipulations.

A feeding table is being formed in a promising area. To do this, drop 1-2 buckets of porridge into the hole. From experience, plain millet works better. You cannot add any additives to the porridge - just boiled cereal is used. The hole is remembered and left for two days.

After two days, the fisherman arrives at the place, drills the same hole and feeds it without big amount groundbait. And after that it catches with animal baits. The peculiarity is that the fish on the table will be already full, so it is important to use attractive bait when fishing. In addition to roach, bream or large crucian carp are gathered on such a table, which will stand in the remains of the porridge and rummage through them. In this case, the roach will scurry higher, trying to win food competition through speed and activity.

The table must be made in places where fish are known to be present. Otherwise, this porridge will simply lie at the bottom and rot. If everything works out, the important place is used for a long time, updating the feed at the end of fishing trips. Periodic feeding of roaches in winter can keep the flock in one place for a long time. Over time, the largest fish from the surrounding waters gather at this place (if they are generally poorly fed). The fish will literally stand on the feeding spot, driving away the small things as competitors. This tactic works in reservoirs with weak fishing pressure, but in the Moscow region there is a high probability that other subglaciers will quickly find such a secret point.

Store-bought baits

It is rational to use bait from the store in the following cases:

  • For fishermen of one day, who rarely go fishing, are not particularly sick of it, and sometimes go out to the pond to get some air.
  • For sport fishing competitions.
  • On casual fishing trips, when there was simply no time to prepare.
  • As an aromatic additive in homemade fertilizer (and this is exactly our case).

Ready mass

Now there are a huge number of offers on the market, it is difficult to identify manufacturers of the best winter bait for roaches. When choosing, consider the factor that a special mixture is used in winter. It says on the bag: “For cold water.” Or something like that. This is important because in cold water In winter, odors spread slowly. Therefore, winter bait should have a weak but very persistent aroma that does not disappear over time. There is no absolute and most catchy option - in different bodies of water, roach may prefer completely different compositions. Only direct experience will help determine the truth.

Positive reviews about the good performance of store-bought winter baits for roach on fishing forums are often found on the following products:

  • Dry Blooder (dry blood).
  • Dragon Elite bait, black, roach.
  • Sensas 3000.
  • Dunaev.
  • Traper.
  • FishDreamElite.
  • Chip.

When buying a store-bought mixture, pay attention to the expiration date! Rancid and old moldy fertilizer will ruin your entire fishing trip.

Do-it-yourself bait for roach

If you often travel to bodies of water, train yourself to make winter bait for roach with your own hands. One principle works for this fish: the simpler the better. It implies that there is no need to mix all possible components and smells into one bait. To prepare winter complementary foods with your own hands, it is important to adhere to a certain algorithm, which is discussed below.

Making bait for roach

Bait for winter roach should consist of the following components, each of which will be discussed separately:

  1. Base (cereal).
  2. Components (binders or loosening agents, drying agents).
  3. Dusting components.
  4. Flavors.
  5. Live bloodworms or other animal supplements.
  6. Sweeteners and dyes.

An impressive list? In fact, it's simple. This division is necessary for the understanding of the process of bait operation. In addition to the composition, the method of application is important. This has already been said in the first part of the article. Feeding roach on the first ice is minimal. In the dead of winter we feed more. If you don’t know what to feed your sorog in winter during a one-time short fishing trip, just buy a bag of store-bought mixture. You won’t find the best bait for catching roach in winter in the store, but you can prepare it yourself.

Correct consistency and particle size

As already mentioned, the final mass needs to be loose, but at the same time it should allow the formation of balls that will easily disintegrate at the bottom over time into small particles. Sorog bait should not lie on the bottom in a layer or in one piece. For winter roach, the particles should not be large, the size should not exceed 1.5 millimeters. A good bait for roach in winter has a finely dispersed structure.

Mixture base

The classic and excellent basis for feeding sorog in winter is millet. The second most popular is medium-ground corn grits. A mixture based on boiled peas in puree also works very well. Some anglers use egg and wheat, but these grains work worse. Don't rely on just one recipe homemade bait for roach in winter. In one case, millet will work better. In another case, bait for winter fishing for roach made from corn will show good results.

So, let's start cooking the porridge. Take millet (or corn grits), add it to boiling water and cook in plenty of water for 10 minutes. The cereal does not need to be cooked completely; as soon as it swells, drain the water and rinse thoroughly under a cold tap through a mesh colander, stirring with a spoon. The goal is to remove gluten from the cereal. As a result, the base turns out crumbly and does not stick together.

Binding and loosening components

Roughly speaking, this is the next level in particle size. We add smaller particles to our bait for chebak (Siberian subspecies of roach). This role may include:

  • Breadcrumbs.
  • Ground peas into flour.
  • Bran.
  • Semolina.

These components (except for crackers) can unnecessarily glue the bait together. You can add them a little. In any case, by adding crackers, we bring the consistency to the desired level - the balls are molded, but when pressed they crumble.

Dusting components

Add a little dry milk to our mixture. If you don't have it, rolled oats ground into flour will do. These components will create a whitish cloud in the water. Better is natural milk powder. The roach likes the smell of milk, so it feeds well on the udder in winter.

Corn grits - an alternative base

Flavorings for bait

Now add some scent to the mixture. There are many known flavors for ice fishing for roach. You don't have to buy these expensive bubbles at a fishing store. For our purposes, improvised means are suitable. In the fishing community, there is debate about the saturation of bait with flavorings. Most people are sure that for winter fishing you need to add odorous elements very carefully, just a little. But there are also reviews about the successful use of strong-smelling baits.

Roasted sunflower seeds

The simplest and most effective option is to add ground roasted sunflower seeds and vanilla. It should be understood that you cannot mix many scents - you need to use only one (maximum two) at a time. And then, during fishing, find out the most effective one.

Flavors for ice fishing for roach:

  • ground roasted sunflower seeds (makukha, cake);
  • vanilla;
  • anise;
  • ground dried tangerine peel;
  • ground hemp seeds;
  • ground dill seeds;
  • ground coriander seeds;
  • vanilla cookies;
  • mint gingerbread;

To our basic bait we will add ground sunflower seeds and a couple of mashed vanilla cookies (or mint gingerbread).

Grinding cookies and crackers

Animal components

It is advisable to add these elements if they are available, but it is not always possible to get them:

  • feed bloodworm;
  • mormysh;
  • aquarium food (dried daphnia);
  • ground zebra mussels;
  • chopped shrimp (not missing! 2-3 pieces).

Addition of food bloodworms

Sweeteners

It’s no secret that roaches love sweets, so you can sweeten the bait a little with sugar or honey. The addition of halva shows good results.

Mint gingerbread

Color

For the ideal composition, you can also take into account the color of the roach bait. But this is, again, a question of the preferences of the fish in a particular body of water. The generally accepted opinion is that the color of the mass should not differ much from the general background of the bottom. Too light bait on a dark bottom can negatively affect the bite. I usually don’t bother like this - millet with fried seeds already has a fairly dark color.

The best bait recipes for roach in winter

That's what it is best recipe DIY winter bait for roach.

A simple and always working option:

  1. Boiled millet, washed with water.
  2. Breadcrumbs.
  3. Roasted seeds.
  4. Pea flour.

You can improve it by adding, for example, ground biscuits and bloodworms. You need to experiment with this composition of winter bait for roaches without changing the essence of the preparation algorithm. The only exception is bait based on pea puree.

Boiled pea porridge is very viscous, and to bring the mixture to a crumbly state you need to add a sufficient amount of dry ingredients - ground seeds and breadcrumbs. The rest of the approach is similar.

Preparing effective winter baits for fishing is possible right in your kitchen, without any special frills or complex technological processes. And such products are often much more effective and cheaper than store-bought bait.

Do-it-yourself feeding for roaches in winter (video of proper cooking of millet):

Do you love fishing and dream of catching a trophy specimen from the underwater kingdom? A good bite will significantly increase your chances of success in this difficult task, and properly selected fish bait will help ensure it. The secret composition can be bought in a specialized store, but it would be much more correct to select and combine the components yourself, taking into account all the features of future fishing.

Advantages and disadvantages of homemade bait

How to prepare bait for fish with your own hands, and most importantly, why do it when there are many ready-made products on store shelves? There are many reasons for such fishing creativity. Agree, there are times when bait is necessary, but there is no way to purchase it. Moreover, it often happens that ready-made options The inhabitants of reservoirs do not like them. However, the main advantage that homemade fish bait has is confidence in the presence of certain components, as well as in their quality.

It should be remembered that homemade preparations also have certain disadvantages. Thus, the cost of homemade products is no less, and sometimes even higher (compared to ready-made analogues). In addition, you will need to spend considerable time and effort preparing it. Among other things, sometimes fishermen need universal formulations, which are easier to buy than to make.

Bait for fish at home should be made from fresh, high-quality ingredients. This rule is mandatory and should not be neglected, otherwise you risk being completely left without a catch. Homemade preparations are stored for a relatively short time, usually no more than two weeks, but professional formulations with preservatives have a significant shelf life.

How to choose the optimal bait?

What are they, the best baits for fish? Unfortunately, there is no clear answer to this question. Preparing or selecting the ideal composition depends on many factors, such as the type of fish, time of year, weather conditions, features of the reservoir and water temperature. It is almost impossible to provide for all of them, and besides, the presence of fertilizing is still half the success. You will have to develop a strategy for using it, but even then, no one can guarantee you 100% success.

Features of the use of bait

What nuances need to be taken into account if used? The following tips will increase your chances of success, even if you are a novice amateur fisherman:

  • Before adding the bait to the water, moisten it a little and form it into a small ball.
  • Add liquid to the composition in small portions, carefully monitoring its quantity; if there is an excess of moisture, the resulting mixture can be used exclusively for surface fishing.
  • When fishing in a body of water with a strong current, do not forget to add a little earth or clay to the bait.
  • Regardless of what components you choose to include in your product, be sure to add the ingredient that you will subsequently fish with.
  • Many beginners go overboard by adding too many artificial flavors to their miracle bait, which often leads to the opposite effect than expected.
  • If you buy ready-made mixtures, do not be afraid to mix several varieties at once; perhaps such experiments will help you find the optimal combination.
  • Fish bait, including live additives (for example, maggots), must be prepared according to a special algorithm. Thus, the larvae are introduced into the mixture immediately before they are placed in the pond.

Fishing with a fishing rod will be much more successful if you feed the fish in advance. You should not throw the ready-made or homemade mixture too far; it should be located exactly where you plan to fish later. The scatter range should not exceed one meter, try to be as accurate as possible. In the future, of course, there will be no need to concentrate only at one point, in reservoirs with running water It will be necessary to try fishing further downstream.

Main Components

The secrets of fishing lie not only in good bait, but in some cases it is precisely this that can provide an excellent catch. In order to make a high-quality and effective bait, you need to take a closer look at the components included in its composition:

  • Crackers. Made from white bread or biscuit crumbs, they provide the necessary stickiness.
  • Bran. Another component based on white bread. Its task is to make the bait balls dissolve in the water.
  • Sunflower cake. It has a large amount of proteins and also helps to loosen the composition.
  • Various porridges (the most popular is millet). A fairly common solution for Russian fishermen. To prepare this kind of bait, you need to boil the cereals in water (1/1.8) until it completely boils away. Then the porridge is left to steam until the end.
  • Flavors. They are a specific way to attract fish. They should be added to the homemade mixture by eye, in small quantities. Your task is that the aroma should be present, but be very weak, almost imperceptible.

Ingredient classification

Answering in detail the question of how to make bait for fish, it is necessary to disassemble it into its main components. These include:

  • Fillers. Sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, millet, sand, clay, vegetable cake, etc. can be used.
  • Rippers. Auxiliary components necessary to give the mixture a porous structure. You can use baking soda or citric acid.
  • Live supplements. Improves the quality of bait. They are larvae, crushed worms, bloodworms, maggots.
  • Flavors. They are purchased in specialized stores and added to home mixtures to improve their qualities.

Components can also be classified based on the functions they perform. So, it is customary to highlight the ingredients:

  • Increasing stickiness (semolina, flour, starch, oatmeal).
  • Gives a light shade (milk powder).
  • Gives a dark shade (cocoa, earth).
  • Increasing nutritional value ( different kinds flour, sugar).
  • Weighting mixture (earth, clay).
  • Natural flavors (cinnamon, anise, dill).

When should bait be used?

So, what are the main secrets of fishing? Where should you start? Arriving at the reservoir and finding appropriate place for fishing, try to sit comfortably and start preparing bait (the second, unofficial name for bait).

To begin, select a special container where you will dilute the dry mixture. It is desirable that it be spacious enough. Place the dry mixture in a bucket or container, and in a separate container dilute the liquid flavoring, which is subsequently added to the main composition. After this, the almost finished bait is added small portions water, do not rush to pour too much liquid so as not to spoil the consistency. If necessary, water can be added, but the excess cannot be removed.

Complementary feeding should be started with a single trial. Roll the ball and throw it into the water, it should dissolve within a few minutes (10 to 25). Observe how he behaves and draw appropriate conclusions. Bait for fishing should not stand out too much against the background of the bottom, or dissolve too quickly or, conversely, slowly. If necessary, you can correct all the shortcomings and organize the process properly.

Strategies for using bait

Paid fishing or regular fishing in a public reservoir requires the development of a strategy for baiting fish. There are several basic methods for organizing such a process, namely:

  • One-time preliminary feeding. All bait is poured into the reservoir before active fishing begins. This method is suitable for rivers and lakes with clean, calm water. Please note that, most likely, the fish will not bite immediately and very warily, try not to scare it away.
  • Abundant preliminary feeding and subsequent portion feeding. The method is good for reservoirs that are already rich in natural food for fish. It is necessary to develop an individual strategy and provide supplementary feeding at regular intervals.
  • Regular complementary feeding in small portions. A good solution if you want to catch a roach or tench. Groundbait using this technology can be added not only in the form of classic balls, but also in regular bulk, alternating the above methods.

Taste preferences of fish

Bait for fish should be different. This is the basic rule that a novice fisherman needs to remember. So, bream gravitates towards plant products. It can be fed with millet, rolled oats or corn; a positive result is also possible when making formulations based on egg powder.

The preferences of the roach are more original, but they also boil down exclusively to the gifts of the flora. Combinations of fennel, thyme or anise are quite successful. Carp like peanuts and corn, and crucian carp also have similar taste preferences.

Throughout life, a fish's preferences may change. For small sizes - egg powder, as well as mixtures based on milk powder; for larger representatives, compositions based on cereals or potatoes are well suited.

A couple of useful recipes

If you do not want to purchase ready-made compounds, not trusting their quality, but are not yet confident in your own knowledge, use the advice of experienced fishermen and take their fish bait recipe as a basis. So, the most popular combinations are:

  • Basic set. It involves a combination of crackers and bran (3/1), cake (no more than 10 percent of the total mass), crushed hemp (no more than 10-11 percent).
  • Extended set. It is a basic bait, to which flavorings and porridge are added (no more than 20-25 percent of the total mass).

Fishing with a rod in still water requires the use of looser bait; for this you need to slightly increase the amount of bran and cake. If your goal is a large catch of small fish, spend increased attention not only the components themselves, but also their quality, be sure to grind them almost to a homogeneous state.

If you plan to catch crucian carp, then the next a budget option homemade bait will be the best. Mix breadcrumbs (1 packet), crushed sunflower seeds (up to 200 grams), rolled oats (500 grams), cookies (pack), a little earth to obtain the required viscosity, if necessary, dill or anise-based flavoring.

How to catch crucian carp?

In conclusion, we will examine a specific question that often worries novice fishermen who prefer to practice fishing on small public bodies of water. What to feed crucian carp? It is generally accepted that the use of bait when hunting this shy fish provides sufficient good results. Unfortunately, this statement will only be true if the bait is prepared correctly; any mistake can lead to the opposite result.

So, what to feed crucian carp? This fish has an excellent appetite and the most wide range addictions. That is why purchasing a ready-made mixture often becomes a wrong decision, but homemade preparations based on various components can bring the necessary results. The basic requirements for bait for crucian carp boil down to the following postulates:

  • The mixture should not be too light or dark; it is best if it is as close as possible to the shade of the bottom.
  • The fish prefers to look for food closer to the bottom, which is why pay attention to the presence of components responsible for the increased viscosity of the bait.
  • Trying to make the lumps of the mixture as dense as possible, do not overdo it: if they do not break up, the fish simply will not be able to enjoy the treat.
  • When fishing on a river with a strong current, add a little porridge to the lumps, this will give the bait viscosity and prevent it from moving along with the mass of water.
  • So that the fish feeds longer and does not become saturated nutrients, avoid getting large components into the mixture; grind them in advance until smooth in a meat grinder.
  • In warm or hot weather, it is recommended to use bait based on plant ingredients; in colder seasons, crushed bloodworms can be added to the mixture.
  • If paid fishing involves catching not only crucian carp, but also predatory fish, try to avoid large quantity live additives in the bait, this can attract unwanted guests and frighten off your main goal.
  • Crucian carp reacts positively to a number of aromas. You can add a little fresh dill or mint to the prepared bait. In addition, garlic minced through a meat grinder or a spoonful of honey can be an excellent natural flavoring.
  • Don't do it universal mixtures from a large number of components, this can scare away the fish.

Any fisherman should be able to prepare bait for fish with his own hands. It is quite simple to make; you just need to spend a little time preparing it. Bait allows you to achieve significant results when fishing. The maximum effect can only be achieved if it is prepared correctly using all the necessary ingredients.

The most important condition for preparing high-quality fishing bait with your own hands is to all ingredients were fresh. If products are rancid, sour or moldy, then they should not be used under any circumstances. Because if you add such a component to the bait, it will be hopelessly spoiled.

That is why ready-made baits sold in specialized stores have certain advantages - a preservative is added to them, and some components that deteriorate very quickly undergo special treatment, allowing them to be stored for a very long time.

The most important component of any bait for fishing is crackers. It is best if it is white bread crumbs. It is sold everywhere. You can also use biscuit crumbs, which are scraps from a variety of cakes and broken cookies, but they are a little more difficult to obtain. Compared to regular crackers, it is more sticky. It is absolutely impossible to get crumbs of rye bread.

The next important component of fishing bait is bran. They loosen the bait quite strongly, which allows it to be washed away by water. Bran is:

  • coarse grinding;
  • finely ground.

For bait it is better to use their mixture. You can buy bran at the market or specialized stores. They are very light, loose and buoyant. Best cast This homemade bait is a combination of crackers and bran. The most commonly used composition is: 3 parts crackers and 1 part bran. To catch riding fish, the proportions are 1:1. Rusks make the bait sticky, and bran loosens it. By changing their ratio in the composition, you can get bait of different densities and erosion rates.

Another necessary fishing component needed for do-it-yourself bait is cake. Mostly finely ground sunflower seeds are used. The cake has a long shelf life, since such a quickly oxidizing component as oil has been removed from it. This component is quite attractive to fish because it contains a large amount of protein. In bait cake should be about 20%, but it should be remembered that it has the property of loosening the bait, so be sure to add some binding substances to it, for example, biscuit crumbs.

Instead of cake, overcooked ground sunflower seeds are great, but since they have a high oil content, the bait should be stored for no more than two weeks.

Additional components for bait

The next component is hemp grains. They are even better than sunflower seeds. The grains should be roasted in the oven, stirring constantly and making sure that they do not burn, and then grind them in a meat grinder. The result should be coarsely ground hemp with a distinct odor. This component makes the bait very tempting for bream and roach. Ground and fried hemp can be stored for no more than two weeks.

Until recently, bait was prepared for fishing from porridge or boiled grain. Most often it was wheat porridge, small and crumbly, which had to be cooked correctly. There are two cooking options.

The first option is to pour one kilogram of millet into 1.8 liters of water and cook until the water has completely boiled away, after which it is left to steam. To do this, wrap the pan with porridge in a thick blanket. The result should be a large lump of millet, which must be crushed to the smallest grains.

In the second option, millet should be pour in plenty of water and cook until half cooked, after which the millet is washed cold water and drain in a colander. The result is a crumbly porridge, which is mixed with bait and brought to readiness using regular moisture. Other cereals are used much less frequently for fishing.

For fishing, you can prepare bait consisting of mixed feed. At one time, such bait was very popular, however, it should still not be used because of the harmful components it contained, for example, lime.

The exception is fish feed used for growing fish in pond farms. It can be in the form of granules or a loose mixture. Granules should be added to the finished mixture, this helps attract a large number of fish. The granules absorb water quite quickly and if there is still some water left, it has to be moistened.

Use of flavorings

In order for the fish to be more active in baiting, it is necessary to add various flavorings to it. Their number should be such that the smell was barely noticeable. Too strong a scent will not do any good. Therefore, you can use them at your own peril and risk. The risk is that cheap flavors may only deter the fish. Or the wrong dosage of such a component will also not attract any fish to the bait. Therefore, they must be used strictly according to the instructions.

Application of animal feed

This component is recognized as the best for bait. Fishing with such bait will only delight avid fishermen. Before fishing, small bloodworms are purchased and mixed evenly throughout the bait during its preparation.

In addition, the most successful composition is considered to be one that uses:

  • mixture of crackers;
  • bloodworm;
  • bran.

To catch medium and large fish, chopped worms and maggots are used as additives.

To prepare a universal bait for fish with your own hands, you need to mix crackers and bran in a ratio of 3:1, then add 10% cake and 11% crushed hemp. This is considered the main bait used for effective fishing.

Immediately before fishing, flavoring should be added to it or mixed with porridge, and the bait should make up more than half. It’s best if there are 20 porridges thirty%. The porridge must be ground down to individual grains. For best effect, the mixture is passed through a sieve. Using water, adjust the degree of stickiness of the bait. If millet is used, then very little water must be added, because such grains give up moisture to other components for soaking. This bait is often mixed with soil and dye is added to it.

Do-it-yourself bait must be checked for the degree of erosion: the lump in the water should disintegrate in a maximum of 25 minutes. This disintegration time depends on the degree of moisture and the presence of millet in the lump. If fishing takes place in a strong current or you have to wait too long for a large fish, then in order for the lump to disintegrate in half an hour, you need to cook the millet in the traditional way. But in any case, the bait should break down into its component parts. This is the most important requirement for food; only in this case will it work effectively.

For fishing in shallow, standing water, you need to increase the amount of cake. The ratio of cake and crackers should be 1:1. In order to catch crucian carp, ground roasted seeds should make up up to 20% of the mixture, without the use of soil. Crucian carp can be caught quite effectively using bait made from cracked crumbs of rye or Borodino bread, but you need to prepare it yourself.

If the bait is needed to attract small fish, for example, roach, then the portion for fishing must be crushed. The bait has a very simple composition: bran, crackers and flavoring. It is very easy to prepare. The mixture just needs to be poured with water and stirred. This food does not need to be sifted, because any lumps easily dissolve in water.

Remarkably improves bait adding an animal component. You can use the following composition: bran, crackers and small bloodworms. This simple bait is great for different types fishing trips

Conclusion

Making fish bait with your own hands is quite simple. This homemade bait works for fishing much more effective than store bought. The most important thing is that such bait can break down into its components, releasing all the odors into the water. Any angler should have the technology for making bait from available components, because this skill will be useful in any situation.
