Method of attaching blinds to a window. How blinds are attached to plastic windows: features and installation nuances. How to install blinds on plastic windows: attach to a wall or window opening

Plastic and aluminum blinds protect the room well from the effects of bright sunlight, which is very important in rooms that are located on sunny side: In offices and living rooms, where sun glare may interfere with watching TV or working on a computer. It is also convenient that installing horizontal blinds on plastic windows with your own hands is simple and does not require special skills.

Installation Features

The standard kit usually includes brackets, all Consumables(bolts and dowels or tape), as well as instructions on how to install blocks of horizontal blinds on plastic windows. There is nothing complicated about it: first, brackets are mounted on the window, sashes or opening, and then a cornice is inserted into them.

There is no need to worry about how to properly install the lamella system on the cornice: the manufacturer has already done this for you. Therefore, the entire installation process comes down to just mounting the side brackets and takes a minimum of time.

Installation of horizontal blinds on plastic windows can be carried out with drilling, without drilling (using double-sided tape) and on drop-down brackets. The choice of method largely depends on where exactly you plan to secure them.

Where to fix the blinds

Before hanging the blinds, please note: manufacturers provide a guarantee for blocks with a width of 22 cm to 220 cm and a height of up to 250 cm. A smaller width does not make sense, and for a larger one it is recommended to use two independent block. Blinds for plastic windows large sizes They are also found on sale, but they are fixed without a guarantee for the functionality of the structure.

How to make dimensions

Before installing blinds correctly, you need to take measurements. All subsequent installation and performance of the block system will directly depend on how accurately they are carried out. Instructions for taking dimensions are different for each installation location:

  • Inside window openings(suitable for cases where the window is located in a recess in the wall). It is important here that the slats do not touch the slopes when lifting and lowering. Based on this, we select the width of the block so that it is 4-5 cm (2-2.5 cm on each side) narrower than the window opening. The height of the entire curtain should accordingly be set 2-2.5 cm shorter than the length of the opening. To ensure that each sash can open freely when the slats are raised, a space must be left between the top edge of the window and the blinds.
  • Outside window openings (also suitable for cases where the window unit is placed in a wall recess). This arrangement makes it possible to cover the entire area of the opening with one wide curtain and, if necessary, darken the room more effectively. To do this, you need the width of the slats to be 5-5.5 cm on each side (10-11 cm in total) wider than the window opening, and the height of the entire curtain to be 10 cm lower than the window sill.
  • On window sashes (curtains open together with the sashes, suitable for the mini model). This method saves space as much as possible and leaves the window sill completely free. Blinds to plastic windows in this case, you need to fasten them so that they do not interfere with the rotation of the handles on the sashes and do not touch the window sill, but completely cover the glass. To do this, their width should be 1.5 cm on each side edge (only 3 cm) wider than the glass part of the window, and their height should be 1.5 cm greater than its length.
  • Outside the window opening (carried out when the window is located on the same plane with the wall). Since the handles on the shutters extend inside the room, in this case you will need a special bracket, which will make it possible to install fixed blinds at a short distance from the wall. In order for them to completely shade the room when closed, their width should be 20 cm wider than the window opening (10 cm on each side), and their length should be equal to or 10 cm greater than the height of the window.

How to markup

In order to prevent distortions during installation, before installing horizontal blinds on the wall above a plastic window with drilling, it is necessary to make markings. Don’t forget to leave enough space above the window, otherwise, when assembled, the slats will interfere with the opening of the sashes.

We will need:

  1. Blind block.
  2. Bolts and dowels suitable for the bracket.
  3. Roulette.
  4. Level.
  5. Construction pencil.
  6. Drill.
  7. Hammer.
  8. Screwdriver.

Operating procedure:

  1. Using a level and ruler, mark each side.
  2. Place the bottom of the mount on the reference line, then mark the drilling points with a pencil.
  3. Mark the markings with crosses to better identify the drilling points.
  4. Drill where the dowels will go, keeping the tool perpendicular.
  5. Insert the dowels by hand and drive them in with a hammer.

How to hang

The hardest work is behind us. All that remains is to hang the horizontal blinds in place.

Procedure:

  1. We install universal brackets.
  2. By turning the latch counterclockwise, we secure the upper cornice to the bracket at a distance of 20 cm from the edge.
  3. Turn the latch clockwise until it stops.
  4. Insert the hook rotary mechanism, located on the upper cornice in the control handle (relevant for models with a cord and handle).

We check the functionality of the system: raise and lower the slats, rotate them at different angles, changing the lighting, check whether they interfere with the opening of the sashes. If all these manipulations were successful without any extra effort, the blinds are installed correctly.
In contrast to thick curtains, a lightweight slatted design made of colored plastic or painted different colors aluminum ensures good air circulation while guaranteeing uniform lighting. With its help, you can easily protect your home from direct sunlight, and if the color and texture of the slats are correctly chosen to match the design of the apartment, they will highlight its advantages.

[Rated: 5 Average rating: 3]

To save money, you can try installing blinds yourself. The work is not difficult, you just need to correctly mark the slope or frame, depending on where you need to secure the structure. You can use different ways to install such curtains; the choice is made based on the design features and dimensions.

Overview of types of curtains and blinds

For different objects, window design of a certain style and functionality is selected. The lamellas in the structure can be positioned in different ways: vertically, horizontally.

Horizontal blinds

You can find different types of shutters: pleated, interframe, attic, bamboo roller shutters; roller shutters belong to the same group. Main distinguishing feature– horizontal lamellas. They can have different thicknesses, widths and function differently. Such structures can be attached to a slope, a frame, they are also installed on top of a window block or inside the frame. It all depends on the size of the windows and the preferences of the homeowner.

Design of horizontal models

Classic horizontal blinds can be safely installed in premises with a variety of purposes: offices, private housing, industrial sites, administrative, retail and educational facilities. These are universal designs that are found in various shades.

Vertical blinds

Such curtains are usually attached over windows, which is due to the design features: vertically oriented slats, most often made of woven material. There are two main types of such structures: floor-length or window-sill length.

General view and device vertical models

This is one of the reasons why such curtains are usually installed in private homes, apartments and offices. This type of blinds is installed using self-tapping screws. Exist Alternative option installations - to the ceiling surface.

Roller blinds

Window blinds in this design combine two types of curtains: classic fabric and horizontal plastic. They are equipped with a continuous sheet of different types of material, cover the double-glazed window, and, if necessary, rise by rolling into a roll.

Installation of roller blinds

Fastening of blinds of this type is carried out using self-tapping screws and brackets. You can hang them in various interiors.

Mounting options

Horizontal and vertical curtains are characterized by individual design features. Based on this, different fastening methods have been developed:

Mount 1: For vertical structures

Mounting for vertical horizontal models to the wall

Vertical curtains can be mounted under the ceiling or over windows. Such blinds cannot be installed on plastic windows without drilling.

Mount 2: On a horizontal view

As standard, structures with horizontally oriented slats are attached directly to the window sashes, to the upper slope. Horizontal blinds without drilling can be placed in any design only on the sashes of the window block.

Ms. can be mounted in the window opening, on the ceiling, wall, or on plastic window sashes

But the inter-frame analogue is created exclusively for installation in the space between window frames. There are also restrictions on installation to the upper slope; in particular, inter-frame and attic blinds are not attached this way. If you do the installation yourself, you must take into account design features products when choosing the installation method.

Preparation, taking measurements

The following tools will be useful: a screwdriver/screwdriver, a tape measure, a carpenter's pencil. In order for your curtains to function as efficiently as possible, you need to take the correct measurements. The structure should be located symmetrically relative to the glass unit.

If blinds are attached using adhesive tape without drilling, it is possible to correct errors. For analogues installed on brackets and screws, you need to mark as accurately as possible.

To fasten vertical curtains, it is enough to measure the dimensions of the window opening, the distance between the fastening points and the length to the bottom edge of the curtain. This will allow the structure to be correctly positioned relative to the level of the floor and window opening.

Horizontal blinds are often installed on the shutters, so the main measurements concern the double-glazed window: height, width of each glass. To these values add 2 cm along the top and bottom edges, 0.5 cm on the sides.

Installation of vertical blinds

Anyone can install such curtains with their own hands. If the blinds are short, they can be placed inside the window openings. Otherwise, installation is carried out on the wall or under the ceiling.

For error-free fastening, sequential instructions are given:

Step 1: Marking

The central point of the window opening is determined and correlated with the center of the blind cornice. You need to make marks along the edges of the structure with your own hands. Points for installing self-tapping screws are marked on both sides of the cornice closer to the center of the window block by about 5-6 mm.

Place the cornice against the wall so that the center of the cornice coincides with the center of the window, and make marks along the edges.

Step 2: We look at the level

At the same time, you need to evaluate whether the slats are positioned correctly. Their lower part should be 1-2 cm above the floor level. The same amount must be retreated during installation short curtains(up to the windowsill).

Step 3: Attaching the brackets

Dowels are installed in holes prepared in advance with your own hands. The brackets are secured, this is done using self-tapping screws. Next, special clips are installed on these elements.

Be careful when using the hammer drill when drilling for bracket fastenings, otherwise part of the wall may break off.

Step 4: Installation of slats and chain

A cornice is attached, into which all that remains is to insert the runners and hang the vertical slats directly on them. The final touch is attaching the chain.

The slats must be hung in the exact order in which they are folded in the package. Otherwise, the design of the blinds may be damaged.

Installation of horizontal

Guided by the markings made earlier, you can attach the horizontal structure with your own hands. Instructions have been created for this:

  1. First you need to secure the upper fasteners. To do this, use a screwdriver to prepare holes that will allow you to install the brackets using self-tapping screws.
  2. Next, you need to hang the cornice; it is fastened until it clicks.
  3. Holes for the lower fasteners (corners) are drilled taking into account the dimensions of the thread retainer connecting the lamellas. Typically, the design of blinds requires holes to be made on the sides of the glass. Then the latch, which is connected to the lamella sheet, can be easily inserted into the corners.

Do-it-yourself installation must be done with the utmost care, otherwise the blinds will not function correctly.

Methods for attaching roller blinds

When deciding how to install blinds on a window, the first priority is to determine the appropriate mounting method. The roll structure is mounted both on self-tapping screws and with the help of an adhesive (adhesive tape, liquid nails).

2 ways to attach roller curtains to pvc window, on L-shaped brackets and tape

In the first case, the technology for installing vertical curtains is taken as a basis, since roller blinds require fastening only in the upper part of the structure. To “plant” the structure on the adhesive, the surface of the windows is cleaned and degreased. This will improve the adhesion of materials.

This option is suitable for double frames. Installation of interframe plastic curtains- a complex process and requires the need to violate the integrity of the frame profile: holes (2 pieces) are drilled to output the blinds control system (handle and cord).

They should be located at the top of the inner sash. The brackets are installed on the upper profile, using the technology for installing horizontal blinds as a basis.

Basic tips for choosing:

  • Before purchasing a design, you need to clarify the composition of the kit, in particular, the presence of fasteners;
  • If the installation is easy to do yourself, then it is better to entrust the repair of curtains to a specialist;
  • Plastic is easier to care for;
  • It is not recommended to clean the new structure too often, as this will quickly wear off the protective coating.

Detailed instructions:Step-by-step installation with your own hands (photo)

For example, horizontal blinds can be positioned inside in any convenient way. However, the most popular option is on top of the sash. The inter-frame structure is more difficult to install, and the vertical analogue can only be located above the window or under the ceiling due to its large dimensions.

Horizontal blinds are made of wood, plastic or aluminum. They are highly resistant to sunlight. Depending on the type of fastening, horizontal blinds can be interframe, attic or regular. The rich color range of products will allow you to harmoniously decorate any home, apartment or office space.

Aluminum blinds are considered the most convenient of all horizontal ones. These “light-protective devices” have one very important advantage - the ability to be installed in places where curtains or blinds of other types cannot be used for a number of reasons. Aluminum blinds made from aluminum tape with high strength characteristics and coated with a special composition.

Advantages of horizontal blinds

Blinds are compact, reliable and affordable - this is why they have long been firmly established in our everyday life. They are installed not only in offices or the kitchen, but also in the living room, children's room and even in the bath! After all, their moisture resistance is beyond praise! Aluminum products provide sufficient light and sun protection for a comfortable stay indoors, and also reliably protect from prying eyes.

And also blinds:

  • do not absorb dirt and dust;
  • are not deformed;
  • easy to care for;
  • do not accumulate static electricity.

Interesting! "Standard" aluminum horizontal blinds is a basic combination of functionality, reliability and elegance. This optimal choice for kitchen, office.

Wood effect horizontal blinds make it possible to successfully combine the affordability and reliability of an aluminum structure with a “natural” interior dominated by wood shades.

Perforated blinds , having the effect of “dense tulle” are suitable for connoisseurs of soft diffused light. They are good for the living room, nursery, bedroom.

But in order for the products to truly serve your home faithfully, it is very important to know how to install horizontal blinds correctly.

Instructions for installing horizontal blinds

Horizontal blinds can be mounted to the ceiling, to the wall, or into the opening.

Measuring horizontal blinds

  1. Determine the overall dimensions (height and width) of the product based on the design features of the window opening. If horizontal blinds will be installed directly into the opening, it is advisable to subtract one or two centimeters from the estimated width of the product (adjustment for uneven slopes).
  2. Determine the optimal location of the controls - on the right or left.
  3. Determine what type of fastening will be used - standard twist brackets, fastening to tilt-and-turn sashes with or without drilling.
  4. Determine the length of the control handle: standard - 2/3 of the height of the product.

Note! The minimum possible width of the products is 22 centimeters. As for its maximum, it is 220 centimeters with a guarantee of trouble-free operation. You can be tempted by 300 - but then no one will give you a guarantee.

Maximum height: 250 centimeters - if with a guarantee, 300 - if without.

Installation of horizontal blinds - step by step

Installation on twist brackets

  1. Based on the overall dimensions of the light protection device, mark the installation locations of the brackets. The distance between them should be at least sixty centimeters. The brackets must not interfere with the control mechanism, rope clamp, or caliper.
  2. Attach the brackets to the window sash, ceiling or wall.
  3. Turn the bracket latches until they stop (counterclockwise).
  4. Insert the upper cornice of the product into the brackets, turn the latches clockwise until they stop.

Experts note that when self-installation horizontal blinds video instructions from professionals are often not superfluous.

Installation on inclined windows with drilling

  1. Install the twist brackets on the top of the sash; Install corners (lower plastic brackets) on its lower part.
  2. Secure the cables in special bushings; Install the bushings through the springs into the holes along the edges of the upper cornice.
  3. Pass the cable through the holes along the edges of the slats.
  4. Insert the second pair of bushings into the holes in the lower brackets, thread the cable through them and secure it with a screw.
  5. Attach the handle hook to the control mechanism.
  6. Install the handle holder on the plate onto the sash.
  7. Make sure the entire structure is working properly.

Installation on inclined windows without drilling - on hinged brackets

  1. Mark the installation locations for the brackets.
  2. Secure the twist brackets using the screws supplied on the flip top brackets.
  3. Install the “structures” on the top of the sash and secure them with a special key.
  4. Install the drop-down bottom brackets onto the bottom of the sash.
  5. Secure the cables in the bushings; Install the latter through springs into the holes along the edges of the upper cornice.
  6. Secure the cornice to the twist brackets.
  7. Thread the cable.
  8. Integrate the plastic bushings into the holes in the bottom brackets.
  9. Secure the cable in the bushings with screws.
  10. Attach the handle hook to the control mechanism.
  11. Install the pen holder.
  12. Check the functionality of all structural elements.

The mounting scheme for horizontal blinds, if you look carefully, is quite simple.

Installation of horizontal blinds: video instructions for installation on a plastic window

Detailed instructions for installing horizontal blinds are presented in this video.

Horizontal aluminum light-protective devices, of course, do not require any extra care. However, this does not mean that they can be “left to their own devices.”

They need to be cleaned of dust about once a week. For this purpose, you can use a vacuum cleaner with a soft fluffy attachment. Manipulating with an ordinary dry soft cloth is also not prohibited.

If blinds, for a number of reasons, require a thorough “big wash” (often these are structures on balconies or kitchen windows), then you should do this:

  • dismantle the structure;
  • wash the slats warm water using detergent (soap, shampoo, a little washing powder). Boiling water is “contraindicated”!;
  • rinse them thoroughly with water and wipe dry;
  • return the blinds to their place for final drying;
  • remove dried water stains with a rag. And voila - your blinds are shining again!

Please note - under no circumstances should water get on the upper cornice with mechanisms. And one more point: if your blinds white try to avoid detergents, which includes ammonia- this can provoke the occurrence yellow spots on separate slats.

In summer, blinds become an invariable attribute of a plastic window. Especially if the light of the midday sun is directed directly into the window, you have to look for protection behind curtains or blinds. The thing is, without a doubt, useful and practical. They are easy to use and take up almost no space in the window space. Rolled or cassette designs slightly inferior in popularity to classic horizontal lamella systems or strict vertical arrangement fabric sets. The latter, for a number of reasons, have become wildly popular in offices and office premises. Classic curtain widely removed from business style.

Conventional slatted horizontal blinds are much more common in window opening standard sizes, vertical ones are mainly used in rooms with high ceilings and large windows. Roller blinds are preferred for opening plastic windows as “deaf” protection from the outside world - for this they are indispensable. This could be a bedroom or a children's room.

Methods for attaching blinds

Modern designs of fastenings for blinds on plastic windows can be divided into three categories:

  • Permanent fastening to the frame using self-tapping screws or self-tapping screws;
  • Fastening the blind system to the sash of a plastic window, allowing it to open unhindered in all positions, including in ventilation mode;
  • The gentle fastening method makes it possible not to damage the plastic profile by drilling holes.

According to an already established tradition, vertical systems are mounted on any window opening using a baguette pattern, without contact with the glass unit. This is due to the design of the vertical lamellas; their width is most often at least 10 cm, so to regulate light transmission, at least 10-15 cm of space is required between the window and the plane of the lamellas.

In addition, there are increased requirements for appearance vertical structures blinds used in office premises. They should be successfully combined with the interior of the room and usually, in addition to plastic windows, cover the window sill and part of the wall space adjacent to the window opening.

The design of such blinds practically allows you to open the sash of a plastic window in no other way than in ventilation mode. Attaching vertical blinds is almost identical to installing a baguette for ordinary curtains, only instead of the latter, a special heavy cornice with a hidden mechanism for controlling the blinds slats is installed.

Rolled options use a powerful and heavy canvas storage system, so almost always mounting on a plastic window is done using additional fittings and canopies. This allows the structure to maintain rigidity and strength when stretching the canvas to the required height.

Both horizontal and roller blinds are designed for one leaf and are placed on the inside of the window.

Method of attaching blinds to a plastic profile without screws

Most people rightly believe that it is better if the blinds are attached to a plastic window without drilling holes.

The basis of the system is a set of horizontal strips of plastic, aluminum, pressed cardboard or wood connected in a special way into one flexible sheet. A special mechanism for blinds allows you to rotate the strips around a horizontal axis, thereby changing the shaded area of the window opening.

All the secrets of controlling the blinds are hidden in the box-shaped cornice located at the top. The total weight of the structure depends on the size and area of the blinds, the width and material of the slats. Fastening standard options Blinds with slats no more than 2cm wide and no more than 80cm long can be quite easily made on the plastic of the window using special double-sided tape.

To glue the blind curtain rod to a smooth plastic surface:

  1. We use double-sided tape or glue applied along the entire length of the glued cornice;
  2. When gluing, before applying glue to a section of the plastic frame, it should be thoroughly degreased with acetone or alcohol;
  3. Apply one layer of glue to the side surface and dry it for 1 hour. Then reapply glue and secure the cornice. Further operations can be performed after 10-12 hours.

At the bottom of the window, clamps are glued in a similar way to hold the blinds in an unfolded and tensioned state. A control cord or a special bar is threaded into the hole on the cornice, the rotation of which adjusts the angle of inclination of the slats.

Advice ! The use of double-sided tape is a completely justified option, provided that the material used is of high quality.

To compare and check the strength of the connection, try attaching two identical objects to a smooth surface using tape and glue. In the first case, the peeling force will be significantly higher than for an adhesive joint.

Attaching blinds to plastic windows using self-tapping screws

Before starting work, make sure that the height and width of the model you choose matches the proportions and dimensions window glass. There are many recommendations on the Internet to use a plastic glazing bead to attach blinds - a narrow, 10mm wide strip of plastic that secures the glass in the frame. Usually the authors motivate the advice by the fact that in case of failure, the glazing bead on plastic profile easy to replace with a new one. It's easier and much cheaper than changing the cladding.

It is easier and more reliable to fasten the curtain rod directly to the main plastic cladding of the window, approximately in the following sequence.

Using a level and a pencil, mark the position of the cornice above the window glass so that the window glass is covered exclusively with slats. We place fastening earrings in the upper part of the cornice. These are elements that serve to fix the cornice body on external brackets; we install them inside the cornice according to the instructions.

We mark the position of the brackets on the cladding and mark with a pencil the places where the holes for the self-tapping screws will be drilled. Using a drill approximately 0.5 mm smaller than the diameter of the self-tapping screw, we drill one hole for each bracket.

For fastening, choose self-tapping screws of the sizes recommended in the instructions, or standard aluminum ones, suitable for a Phillips screwdriver. The length of the working part is no more than 12mm. After screwing in one screw at a time, the brackets should be leveled using a building level. Otherwise, the cornice can be fixed with a slope to the left or right.

After that, the remaining holes for attaching the brackets are drilled, and the missing fasteners are screwed in. The cornice and all the necessary fittings for the blinds mechanism are placed on the brackets. In a similar way, the clamps are attached to the bottom of the window with self-tapping screws, after which the fittings of the mechanism are adjusted.

Important ! When choosing drilling locations, you should not retreat excessively to the periphery of the window; there is a possibility that the drill will bump into hidden parts of the window control mechanism.

Installing blinds on an opening sash of a plastic window

The sash design allows you to avoid using self-tapping screws for fastening blinds of any configuration. In this case, to attach the cornice, a special plastic earring is used, hooked, like a hook, to the upper edge of the window sash. Depending on the length of the plastic window and the weight of the blinds, there may be two or three such “hooks”. The earrings simply “snap” into the body of the cornice, firmly held inside it due to the elasticity of the plastic. Next, the cornice is simply hung on the window sash.

It should be noted that this method of fastening is the most universal and allows you to painlessly remove the blinds from the window and reinstall them an unlimited number of times.

The disadvantages of such a fastening system include:

  • The fastening ear pinches the rubber seal of the sash; with prolonged use, this can lead to partial pushing through of individual fragments of the seal and loss of tightness;
  • Plastic fastenings are inferior in strength to metal brackets, and accordingly, the service life of such fastenings is much shorter;
  • When attaching blinds, you should provide a limiter for the opening angle of the shutter to prevent possible damage to the blind slats inner surface window slopes.

Installing blinds solves many problems with window decoration. Curtains, drapes, tulles, no matter what fabric they are made from, require frequent washing, since dust and dirt accumulate on them. The thickness of the curtains determines how well they transmit or block light.

Blinds are much more convenient than curtains on many aspects.

Depending on the angle at which the lamellas are located, they completely open access to natural light into the room, partially block it, gently diffuse it, or completely isolate the room not only from light, but also from thermal radiation. They do not require special care, and installing blinds yourself is not difficult.

Varieties

Horizontal

The light-protective design with horizontal lamellas has become familiar, almost classic for window design.

Advantages:

  • Compactness. Installed directly on the window, leaving the window sill free. This saves space and allows you to place greenery on the window in favorable conditions;
  • Low weight of the structure;
  • Strength and rigidity of the lamellas, preventing deformation;
  • Fire safety;
  • Simple control mechanism;
  • Special coating or impregnation against dust, dirt, odors and grease;
  • Resistance to humidity and temperature changes;
  • Various materials for the manufacture of lamellas: wood, plastic, aluminum, less often fabric;
  • Easy installation;
  • Affordable price.

Some disadvantages are worth mentioning:

  • When mounted on a frame, the angle of inclination of window sashes when opening is limited;
  • The slats produce a characteristic knocking or ringing sound when the wind blows. To avoid this, you need to purchase lower fasteners, which are not included in the kit and quickly become unusable;
  • The structure is subject to repair if several slats are severely deformed, but it will cost the same as new blinds;
  • Not suitable for balconies and loggias with sliding windows.

Vertical

They are distinguished from horizontal ones by:

  • More aesthetic appearance. Horizontal blinds are more likely to be functional, while vertical blinds are decorative;
  • Possibility to cover large area one cornice. Horizontal blinds, as a rule, consist of narrow slats and are intended for minimalistic decor large windows. Vertical models have different widths and easily cover the area of large windows, arches and doorways.
  • Variety of materials. They can be made of wood fibers, wood, aluminum, bamboo, plastic, woven and non-woven fabric, mirror, blackout, thread. The abundance of materials provides another advantage - variability of colors and textures;
  • Modern and original design windows that open up more design possibilities;
  • Simplicity of control mechanisms. Both mechanical and electrical are possible;
  • The ability to place photo printing on the “curtains” due to the larger surface and best characteristics material;
  • Practicality. Larger slats are easier to wipe when necessary, which does not arise often. If in case heavy pollution, for example, in a children's room the slats will still need to be subjected to hygienic procedures, this will not take much time - they can be washed by hand and in a washing machine;
  • Possibility of installation on non-standard windows (triangle, trapezoid, arch, bay window);
  • The structure is subject to repair. To replace this or that part, you do not need to call a specialist; it is simple enough to do it yourself. You can replace the slats one at a time without having to dismantle the entire structure.

Vertical blinds, as the name suggests, are a simple and convenient light-protection structure consisting of longitudinal vertical plates.

Rolled

Roller blinds and roller shutters are solid fabrics, often made of textiles, but other materials are also possible, which, like horizontal blinds, are rolled up. The height can be adjusted by fixing the curtain with a weighting agent on the bottom strip of the canvas.

There are different types of roller shutters: with an open drum (for mounting directly on the window) and with a decorative cornice; “mini” for installation on each frame separately and “roll-cassette” for covering the entire window.

There is an opinion that roller blinds– this is the most budgetary and practical option window decoration, but this is not entirely true. Of course Roller shutters have their advantages: variety of natural and synthetic fabrics, colors and patterns, ease of care (allowed wet cleaning) and operation, the ability to fix the curtain on required height, special impregnations against dust, moisture, high temperatures and glare, compatibility with other types of curtains. It is convenient if you need to hide a room from the sun or decorate a window beautiful tulle so that from the street it is not visible what is happening inside.

But with so many advantages, they also have significant disadvantages.:

  • Budget price- it's a delusion. Yes, a medium-sized curtain itself made from a common material will be inexpensive, but it will look boring. In order for the window design to be complete, it is necessary to think through additional decor, and this increases the cost several times;
  • Roller blinds in the bedroom, office and rooms with high windows need electrical control. Designs with an electric drive are expensive, and for some manufacturers they are also noisy;
  • Impossible make a custom curtain from a certain textile. You can only choose specific products of a specific brand, since the range of fabrics for the production of roller blinds is very limited: translucent, textured, reflective, perforated, blackout and that’s all, perhaps;
  • Maximum width roller blinds – 280-300cm, that is, cover a large area with one curtain rod, for example, panoramic window or the balcony will not work;
  • They can There will be problems with installation not on the wall, but in the window opening, since the bobbin is wider in width than the curtain itself. There will inevitably be gaps on the sides of the window openings. Ceiling or wall mounting is preferable.

Pleated

This type of blinds is similar to both horizontal and roller blinds. The design consists of a control mechanism (chain or electric drive), weights, and pleated fabric that resembles accordion bellows.

The range of materials, colors and textures is very diverse.

Peculiarities:

  • They close from top to bottom, like classic canvases, from bottom to top, or from both sides at the same time. In this case, the degree of density of the “accordion” can be adjusted, thus closing either the upper, lower, or central part of the window;
  • Suitable for covering windows irregular shape;
  • The optimal solution for dormer, attic, ceiling and inclined windows;
  • “Opening”, the canvas is compactly folded and hidden inside the cornice;
  • Convenient for installation on all types of windows;
  • Various ways fastenings and control mechanisms (manual and electric);
  • The woven fabric is washable;
  • The curtain fabric can be made of two types of fabric at the same time, which makes it possible to regulate the degree of transparency, darkness, and sun protection;
  • Easy installation can be done by yourself.

Types of pleated:

  • Classic. In appearance they are most similar to horizontal blinds, but they can also be vertical. Made from fabric, paper or plastic. Designed for room darkening, protection from heating by sunlight, zoning internal space premises.

  • Corrugated. This type is a vertical and horizontal double pleat. As a result, the folds look smoother, neater and denser. Corrugation made of plastic and paper in this design absorbs a significant part of the heat and protects from bright light.

  • Inclined. A type of pleated specifically for windows that are located at an angle in the attic or ceiling. Their peculiarity is in a specific assembly system, which does not allow the canvas of any material to sag when at an angle. Mostly inclined models are produced with electronic control.

  • Arched. The most flexible canvases that take any shape, like a paper fan. Good decision for rooms with non-standard window shapes (arches, trapezoids, triangles, beveled windows).

  • "Day Night". The canvas of such blinds consists of two layers of fabric: light, permeable a large number of light fabric for daytime use and dense, dark fabric for protection from the bright sun during the day and prying eyes in the evening.

Cassette

Such systems involve either the use of horizontal slats or a solid fabric, but are not horizontal blinds or roller blinds. They differ in the types of cassettes (angular, round, flat), controls ( different kinds mechanical and remote), materials used (plastic, textiles, bamboo, aluminum).

Their main feature consists in a design, the special structure of which makes it possible to fix the blinds on minimum distance from window glass. This prevents deformation, sagging, wrinkles and unevenness, and completely opens the window sill.

Advantages:

  • Compactness. Cassette blinds take up a minimum of space, leaving owners the opportunity to use their imagination and organize additional window decoration or leave the window sill as a functional surface;
  • Simple and clear type of control;
  • Long service life. Special impregnation protects the canvas from dust, grease, dirt, moisture, abrasion;
  • Ease of hygiene procedures. Cassette systems do not require special care. It is enough to wipe their small surface area with a damp sponge and soapy water once every few months;
  • Variety of designs for interiors in any style;
  • The tight fit of the canvas to the surface of the glass protects equally well from heat and cold;
  • Possibility to install the system yourself;
  • A variety of materials - from light window decoration to total blackout protection;
  • Possibility to combine blinds with curtains, tulle, lambrequin.

Mounting methods

There are three types of fastening blinds: to the wall, to the ceiling, directly to the frame, and two ways - with and without drilling.

The universal basis of any fastening is the cornice, which different ways attaches to a wall, frame or ceiling.

With drilling

This is done using self-tapping screws, brackets on which the cornice and fishing line are installed. Additionally, you will need a pencil, ruler, drill, and screwdriver.

First you need to make markings in the places where the brackets will be located.

For reliability and accuracy, it is necessary to drill holes for the clamps in the marked places. Then, applying the brackets one by one to the PVC frame, use a screwdriver to secure them to the markings. Next, the cornice is installed and the entire structure is assembled.

No drilling

If you plan to replace blinds or other window decoration options in the future, it is not recommended to damage plastic windows. The holes from the screws will remain in the frame forever and will significantly spoil the appearance of the windows. In this case, it is easier to turn to a method that does not require drilling.

In this case, the brackets are attached in two ways:

  • by the upper part of the PVC profile on the opening doors (you can simply hang it like a hook);
  • on double-sided tape, which can be glued without fear of leaving marks.

Mounting blinds on the balcony requires a special approach. Plays an important role here balcony design. The type of glazing determines the possibility of choosing certain blinds and the method of their fastening. In general, almost all options are available for balconies. Special attention In this case, you should pay attention to the type of blinds, since not all of them are universal for different types windows For example, horizontal blinds are not suitable for a balcony with sliding windows, as they can become deformed during use or from strong winds.

Measurements and markings

The final result depends on how correctly the measurements are taken.

Even expensive, beautiful models will not look good on the window if there are gaps in the opening or the edges of the slats constantly ride up against the wall.

It is important to pay attention to the following points:

  • For the most accurate indicators, a steel tape measure is used;
  • The obtained figures cannot be rounded; accuracy must be maintained to the nearest millimeter;
  • When ordering blinds, the width parameter is indicated first, length – second;
  • Not a single window opening is absolutely perfect. geometric shapes, therefore measurements in height and width must be made at least at two points.

Horizontal

If you plan to attach blinds to the movable half of the window, you will need to measure the gap between the glazing beads and add 30 mm or more, which will prevent gaps from appearing in the structure. The height of the blinds is equal to the height of the window sash.

For installation inside a window opening, measurements are required at three points in height and width, since openings are not always absolutely proportional.

The width is identical to the wide side of the glass plus the thickness of the rubber seal. The length is identical to the height of the window (including elastic bands) and has a margin of 1cm. To install the cornice, you will need an additional 30-40 cm to the slopes and hinges. The control chain is 2/3 of the window height.

When choosing to fix the cornice on the wall, the width parameter increases by 10 cm, the height is measured from the point of attachment of the brackets to the floor at random.

Vertical

When installing in a window opening, you need to determine the width at the top of the arch and subtract 20 mm. To determine the height, compare the height of the left and right sides of the arch, subtract 1 cm from the smaller value.

For wall mounting, you need to add at least 10 cm to the wide side of the slope. The length of the slats can be any, but it is recommended to retreat 2 cm from the edge of the blinds to the floor.

Ceiling installation involves determining the height (to the floor or window sill) minus 2 cm, it is recommended to increase the width of the arch by 100+ mm.

Rolled

To install canvases to the wall, only one measurement is required - from the edge of the window sill to the markings for the brackets, and the width can be up to 300 cm.

In the window arch, roller blinds are installed after measuring the width, from which you need to subtract 4 centimeters, and the length of the curtain is equal to the height of the window minus 15 mm.

Pleated curtains similarly do not require a professional approach to taking measurements and installation.

Installation of vertical models

Vertical blinds are the most convenient way window decoration for independent execution. They are attached in three ways: to the ceiling, to the frame with drilling, to the frame without drilling.

In all cases, the fastener is a cornice with decorative facade or without it.

The brackets on which the structure is supported are fastened with self-tapping screws, hung or glued with double-sided tape. The special tape, despite its seeming impracticality, is fixed very firmly, so it is important to correctly apply the markings for installing the brackets. Once they are glued, moving them will be very problematic.

The procedure for installing vertical blinds:

  1. Preparing tools. You will need a stepladder, a set of screws from the kit, building level and drawing supplies, drill, screwdriver.
  2. Applying pencil markings for installing brackets. To securely fix the fasteners, it is recommended to drill holes for self-tapping screws at the same stage.
  3. Fastening the brackets in a suitable way (with or without drilling).
  4. Installation of cornice.
  5. Installation of slats. To do this, you need to pull the control cord on which the fastenings for the slats are located so that they are in the desired position. Then fix all the slats on the hooks of the fasteners.

Installation of horizontal

For installation you will need a set of tools: drill, Phillips screwdriver, screwdriver, drawing supplies.

The instructions for installing horizontal blinds on windows contain a list of items that are carried out step by step:

  1. Draw a marking line for installing brackets. It must take into account the distance between the clamps and the control mechanism, between the brackets (from 60 cm) and to the extreme areas on the blinds (25 cm). For large blind widths and significant weight, it is recommended to use intermediate fasteners.
  2. Drill holes for installing dowels on the surface to which you plan to attach the brackets. It is possible to use blinds on plastic windows without drilling.
  3. Profile installation.
  4. Fixing the top rod of the blinds on the brackets. It is important to remember that the blinds at this stage are already assembled.

Working with horizontal models on inclined surfaces requires a little more effort and skill.

How to hang roller blinds?

Like other types, roller blinds or shutters are attached in several ways: they can be hung, glued, or attached to a frame.

First way– the simplest and most accessible for do-it-yourself installation is a fastening without drilling based on double-sided adhesive tape. Suitable for tilt-and-turn mechanisms on windows. Performed step by step:

  1. Degreasing the areas of the frame and fasteners that will be connected with adhesive tape.
  2. Marking the fastening of roller shutters.
  3. Installation of roller blinds. The chain mechanism can be installed on any convenient side.
  4. Assembly of brackets.
  5. Marking for fastening brackets. To do this, you need to install them on the assembled roller blind, install it on the window without fastening, mark with a pencil the places for the adhesive tape, and remove the curtain.
  6. Applying adhesive tape to the back surface of the brackets, mounting on a window.
  7. Installing the guide string against sagging. It is attached to the “ear” of the top bracket and the weighting of the curtain, and at the bottom it is fixed in the tensioner, which is installed on the frame.

The second method involves attaching to a stationary frame (not opening):

  • First of all you need to mount the roller blind, assemble the brackets and install them on the reel. Then this structure must be fixed on the window in order to mark for fastening.
  • Second step– fastening the brackets to sticky tape at the top of the frame and a string tensioner at the bottom. It is not necessary to pre-attach them with tape, but it is advisable to eliminate problems with subsequent drilling of holes for screws. After installing the guide string, the curtain itself is mounted into the mechanisms.

How to secure cassette tapes?

You can also install cassette blinds yourself. Before installation, you must read the instructions, make sure everything is complete, and prepare everything necessary tools: screwdriver, drawing tools, screwdriver, drill, cotton pads or small piece of cloth, degreaser.

When everything you need has been collected, you can proceed to the first stage - degreasing the glazing beads. Then you need to remove the side covers of the box, lift it to the top of the frame, focusing on the guide protrusions, drill holes for fastenings, and secure with screws. You can use a screwdriver for this purpose, or you can perform the process manually using a Phillips screwdriver.

Once the box is installed, you need to secure the covers to the sides. After this, you can glue the guide strips to the degreased frame. The guides should be several centimeters below the corner of the bead.

Important nuances

Installation work window design requires certain skills and experience, but if you want to try it yourself, you need to take into account some of the nuances and features of this work.

Installation of blinds begins long before preparing the working surface and a set of tools.

The first step of this process– an informed decision regarding the type and variety of blinds, material, color and texture, depending on the functionality of the room. So, it is more advisable to choose for the living room vertical blinds that allow light to pass through, for the bedroom there are automatic electric roller blinds made of blackout fabric, and for the kitchen, where cooking smells and food combustion products are constantly in the air, there are plastic blinds that do not absorb grease and dirt.

Second important point - this is the correct marking. A lot depends on it, including how easy the installation process will be. If all the architectural features of window openings are taken into account by specialists when ordering blinds from them, everything will go easily and smoothly without the help of professional installers.

It is also important to consider whether it will be possible to open the window after installation, how the light protection devices will work, and whether there is a risk of their deformation.

The installation of blinds must be carried out exactly with the markings and subsequent verification of the functionality of the structure. The most important point here is the choice between fastening - with or without drilling.

It is also necessary to provide for the type of control. For low windows, an excellent solution is one of the types of mechanical direction. Magnetic, automatic (electric) control with an electric drive is suitable for roof and inclined windows, windows in the bedroom.
