Stages of installing sectional doors according to the diagram. Installation of sectional garage doors Attaching sectional doors to steel posts

Previously, the garage was a simple shelter that provided protection from the effects of precipitation and car break-ins; it did not have any special devices. But for last years a lot has changed. Nowadays, instead of traditional types, lifting ones are often used, which are characterized by convenience and manufacturability. The following types of lifting mechanisms are produced:

  • solid;
  • sectional;
  • roller shutters

The most popular designs are those that fit harmoniously into any garage structure and save space. Let's find out what they are and consider the process of their manufacture and installation with our own hands.

Design and principle of operation

The main goal in the development of sectional doors was to increase the maneuverability of the door leaf while maintaining its thermal properties and burglary resistance. Gates of this type, smoothly rising to the ceiling, create good thermal insulation for the garage.

The canvas consists of sandwich panels connected by hinges. Its movement is ensured by a torsion system (drums, shafts, cables). The canvas is balanced using a spring mechanism, and its fixation is carried out by guides that are installed along the ceiling and frame. Reducing resistance is achieved thanks to rollers attached to the sides of the panels. Since these rollers are made of polyamide, a wear-resistant material, the gate rises softly and silently. During the movement, the canvas is refracted, all sashes are laid in a horizontal direction.

To reduce the load created by the weight of the gate, balancing springs are used, which makes it easy to lift it using a handle mounted on the door leaf. To protect the cables from breakage, the design includes ratchet couplings. The lock is placed so that it is convenient for the driver to use it. In most cases, sectional doors are equipped with a retractable crossbar and ease of use is achieved thanks to automation. There is no need to get out of the car to enter the garage. For closing automatic gates The transmission mechanism is responsible.

It is possible to install additional elements around the perimeter - built-in sensors that react to movement and stop the gate, protecting it from damage.

In the absence of electricity, sectional doors can be opened with a special key designed to unlock the mechanism. IN in this case The drive is switched off and control is performed manually. Sectional garage doors must have a manual lock. It will be needed when emergency situation.

Basic kit for making gates

Manufacturers of sectional products produce kits, using which you can assemble the gate yourself and save money. All models of sectional mechanisms are universal and suitable for installation in any garage.

Work must be performed in accordance with the instructions included with the kit. When choosing a basic kit, you need to decide what power motor will be used for installation in the gate drive mechanism. The sectional doors, photos of which you see, are made on the basis of one of the basic kits, which are created by manufacturers of such mechanisms.

Preparation for installation

Before starting assembly, you need to make sure that there is the necessary space around the gate opening:

  • on the sides of the opening - 450 mm;
  • to the ceiling - 300 mm.

If you decide to create a sectional door with your own hands from finished parts, to carry out assembly work, prepare the following tools:

  • installation tool kit;
  • screwdriver;
  • perforator;
  • drills with pobeditovy nozzle;
  • measurement tool (tape measure, level, etc.).

Gate assembly process

If you don't want to make sectional ones, assemble them from ready-made kit details. First you should start preparing the opening. If garage construction created from lightweight foam concrete blocks, it needs to be strengthened. Next, the installation diagram must be transferred to the opening. To implement this task, markings are made on the walls, marking the places where the main load-bearing units will be attached, namely the guides for moving the canvas.

When installing all load-bearing elements, it is important to adhere to the order established by the instructions. After completing the first task, they move on to the next one - assembly. Usually it is carried out from the lowest lamella. If, after its completion, the upper cut of the leaf does not fit well to the gate “plate”, you need to adjust the upper brackets.

Next, you can proceed to securing the gate control units and auxiliary elements, such as bolts, locks, handles, and then to installing the balancing springs. They should be adjusted so that the lifting ropes always remain taut. The final stage is mounting the sensor to limit the movement of the web. After all necessary work Check several times whether the sectional door moves easily. Photos of finished structures are presented below.

Self-production

You don’t have to purchase a kit for making a gate, but instead create this design on our own. This option is suitable for those people who have construction skills and have enough free time. It is important to understand that such work is complex and painstaking. To create a sectional door with your own hands, you need to follow these steps:

  • make a welded frame (with its help you will secure the canvas);
  • install durable guides;
  • using corners, weld vertical guides, then make horizontal ones;
  • take the frame and weld brackets for installing the rollers to it;
  • Maintaining a slight angle, position the guides;
  • install the counterweight mechanism.

Accessories for sectional mechanisms

It is necessary to eliminate the possibility of manufacturing an unreliable design and take into account the compatibility of spare parts. When implementing the task, it is necessary to use only original gate drawings. It is not recommended to create structures from used parts.

You can use useful add-ons - systems that prevent torsion spring rupture, cable breakage and finger pinching, as well as additional accessories.

The nuances of installing garage doors

Installation sectional doors, instructions for the implementation of which are attached to the basic kit, must be carried out without gaps while maintaining the maximum possible density.

To prevent the blade from jamming, the installation of the vertical guide must be done with high precision.

To ensure adjustment and fixation of the sectional mechanism, use pads of various thicknesses made of metal.

Install sectional doors that are the perfect size for your garage.

Is it worth making sectional doors yourself?

Sectional doors - complex design, which not everyone can create on their own. Such garage doors are less reliable than structures created from factory parts; their service life is almost impossible to predict. Sectional mechanisms made by hand are not particularly safe. In the event of an emergency, people may be injured and the vehicle may be damaged.

A reasonable way to save money is to assemble sectional doors from cheaper factory parts according to original drawings, taking into account their versatility and compatibility.

If you want to create sectional doors with your own hands, make sure that finished design was reliable and safe, and do not start work until you have a good understanding of this issue.

And sealing various (including garage) premises. Such structures consist of a spring that absorbs vibration of the canvas, other fittings and guides. The canvas itself is equipped with special mechanisms designed for remote opening/closing using the remote control included in the kit.

Sectional doors are found mainly in rooms where free space is limited. When opened, the canvas rises up, which significantly saves free space.

Attention! Gate panels, which are made in any color, are coated with a special polymer coating during manufacturing, which protects the structure from corrosion and ensures a long service life.

If desired, a durable acrylic window can be built into the canvas to illuminate the garage, and thanks to insulating sandwich panels, the structure can operate in a fairly wide temperature range (from -50ᵒС to +70ᵒС).

It is also worth highlighting the safety of such a design, because closing is ensured by a special locking system, which makes it possible to automatically lock the panel immediately after lifting. With proper operation and strict adherence to the manufacturer's instructions, the structure will last about ten years without repair or replacement of individual elements. Now let's figure out how to assemble with your own hands.

Varieties of design

Modern sectional doors are suitable for all types of premises.

Attention! Garages built earlier often do not meet current building standards, as a result of which the gates are produced in various modifications.

Vertical lift structures

Designed for garages with great height rise. They are sold exclusively in construction hypermarkets and are distinguished by the fact that they take up minimal space during installation.

High lift structures

Such gates are more expensive and are used where the small height does not allow for vertical lifting of the door leaf. The high price is explained by the use of hanging brackets, special guides and a large number of consumables.

Find out the master class from a subscriber in our new article.

Standard lift designs

Used in rooms that are completely ready for installation, with minimum height lintels minimum 18 cm. All elements are made of of stainless steel. The simplest and convenient option, therefore the most popular.

Low rise structures

Low-lift gates are suitable in conditions of limited opening height (lintel). Control elements and torsion springs are attached to the ceiling, and if it is low, then the entire apparatus is fixed on the back of the guides. More specifically, such a device consists of:

  • torsion shaft;
  • winding pulleys;
  • balancing springs.

After choosing a suitable design, you can begin preparatory work.

Prices for sectional doors

Stage 1. Equipment preparation

Before you begin, you should prepare all the necessary tools.

  1. This is especially necessary if the gate width exceeds 5 m. The fact is that ordinary water levels give a certain error (from 1.5 cm to 3 cm), which is unacceptable when installing sectional doors.
  2. Electric drill for fastening individual elements at height.
  3. 1.5 kW hammer drill for making holes in concrete.
  4. Other tools: screwdriver, wire cutters, pliers.

Attention! The above list of tools is incomplete, it all depends on individual characteristics gate and quality of opening preparation.

Various fastening elements will also be required, regardless of whether the walls are made of concrete or loose sandstone.

Stage 2. Measurements

Before ordering a sectional structure, you need to take careful measurements of the opening and the room as a whole.

Step 1. First, the value H is measured - the height of the opening. In this case, it is not the specific height that is indicated, but the place for the vehicle to enter. Let's assume the height is 200 cm. In this case, you must specify 30 cm more when ordering, because after installation the clear passage will be 180 cm.

Step 3. The width of the opening (B) is determined. The resulting figure increases by 2 cm on each side, taking into account the future design.

Step 4. The technical gap (b1, b2) is determined, at least 8 cm on each side. This will provide free access to the fastening elements during service.

Step 5. Finally, measure the depth of the garage (L). A special feature of sectional doors is that the door leaf rises to the ceiling, so the depth must be greater than the height.

Stage 3. Preparing the opening

After measurements and preparation of tools, they order them themselves. Production usually takes approximately two weeks. During this time, you can prepare the opening.

Step 1. First of all, the walls and ceiling are plastered (if this has not been done previously). This can be explained quite simply: after installing the gate guides, access to unprepared areas will be inaccessible.

Step 2. The plane of each wall is checked in relation to the neighboring ones.

Attention! If the opening is not in line with the walls, then installing the gate will not work.

Such structures have the correct horizontal shape, so even the slightest errors in the construction of the garage are unacceptable. Of course, the gate can also be placed on curved surfaces (you will have to work hard), but in this case the strength of the fasteners and aesthetics will be in question. Yes and in winter time will blow snow and cold air, which will lead to freezing of the room.

Step 3. The walls and ceiling are finished with a metal corner.

Attention! If you have no experience, it is better to entrust the preparation of the garage to professionals, and after completing the work, check the results using a level. If specifications are not met, the owner will have to frequently carry out repairs and replace components, and the service life will accordingly be reduced.

Stage 4. Installation of sectional doors

Attention ! Independent joining fabrics is an extremely complex process that only experienced craftsmen can handle. Therefore, it is better to order ready-made gates and install them in the frame.

Step 1. First, all weak coating is removed or strengthened. The horizontalness of the floor is checked (the permissible error in this case is only 1 mm). If everything is in order, you can begin preparing the panels for installation. It must be remembered that such gates are quite expensive, so the canvas should be handled with extreme care so as not to accidentally damage it.

Step 2. Next, markings are applied to attach the guides. The vertical profiles are fixed first - they are attached to the wall using mounting screws (these have a long leg). Then, focusing on the vertical profiles, the horizontal guides are fixed. It is important that the “rails” are positioned strictly at right angles to each other, otherwise the canvas will not be able to rise.

Step 3. Next, the panels are assembled (if ready-made gates were not purchased). In this case, you need to carefully measure everything, because sectional doors, as mentioned above, do not tolerate distortions. If they do form, then for leveling you cannot use planks of different sizes or polyurethane foam, otherwise the dimensions of the structure will be violated in the future.

Instead, it is better to use iron gaskets of different thicknesses.

Step 4. Next, attach the controls and lifting mechanism. The accuracy of all measurements is checked.

Before starting installation work, you should read the manufacturer's instructions. Many companies (such as Alutech, Khormane or Dorhan) describe the installation of the structure step by step. Features of installation work may vary depending on the manufacturer, but in general it is a simple procedure.

Step 5. Upon completion of installation, the panels are fixed additional elements(lock, hinges and handles). The castle should be given Special attention– it must be of high quality, since it is intended to protect property.

Step 6. Install the springs that are responsible for opening/closing the gate. At the final stage of work, the limiters necessary to limit the movement of the web are fixed.

Attention! If you are installing a gate model with , you will need to install more electric drive. For correct installation and connections, you should also read the instructions for the device.

With the proper approach and correct calculations, gate installation takes a maximum of one day.

Stage 5. Verification

The main indicator of correct installation is the presence or absence of clearance when the blade is lowered. In this case, the seals will properly perform their functions of sealing and protecting the garage from precipitation. It is worth noting that the seals should be invisible from the outside. If they are visible, then the measurements were taken incorrectly.

Next, the bottom panel is inspected. The seal fixed at the bottom should fit as tightly as possible to the floor. If a gap is detected, the structure is checked by level. To eliminate defects that are not level, the position of the guides is adjusted.

The last thing to check is the balancing (balancing springs). They can be located on the sides of the profiles or on a torsion beam - it all depends on the area of the canvas. If you raise the gate by 1.5 meters, then the springs should be in place, without falling or rising.

Torsion mechanism and spring charging

Read our new article and also find out the process of installing electric gates with your own hands.

Sectional metal gates are very convenient to use and have an attractive appearance and when open they take up no space at all. All these advantages allow them to be used both in private garages and in parking lots, in warehouses and manufacturing plants, in car services and car washes.

Sectional design garage doors is quite simple: the canvas itself consists of separate sections (30-60 cm high), connected to each other by loops, the joints are covered with a sealant. Along the edge of each section there are rollers with bearings, which provide the ability to move.

The leaf moves along two vertical L-shaped guides upward and is laid directly under the ceiling - in this position, the sectional garage doors are open, when it is necessary to close the opening, the sections move in the opposite direction and take a vertical position.

Vertical lifting of the canvas is less common - in this case, the height of the building should allow the gate to be placed directly above the opening, and this is only possible in large rooms. Of course, the mechanism can be activated either manually or using automation; sectional doors are very convenient to use.

Choosing a manufacturer of sectional doors

As they say, demand creates supply, which is why there are now a large number of products from different manufacturing companies, but the undisputed favorites among them are only three companies: Doorhan, Alutech, Hormann.

The first enterprise is domestic manufacturer, whose products are in the lowest price category. The Belarusian brand Alutech is valued for its decent quality and good service support. Hormann gates are the most expensive purchase, but high quality German products compensate for considerable financial investments.

Criteria for selecting sectional doors

Before you begin installing sectional doors, you need to select them. What you should pay attention to? When choosing products from the price category available to you, check with the seller what kind of door leaf your gate will have: insulated or not. In an insulated garage or any other heated room, it is logical to choose insulated sections (from 35 mm thick), and in a cold building you can use a thin sheet without insulation (from 9 mm).

Good sealing of the joints of individual door segments is very important, because constant drafts are unlikely to please you, precipitation and, of course, dust can enter, and in addition, heat will escape through the cracks. The sealant is responsible for the tightness of the connections; the softer and more elastic it is, the better.

Corrosion resistance too important indicator, since each segment is a sandwich inside of which there is insulation (expanded polystyrene foam, polyurethane foam or mineral wool), and along the edges there are galvanized metal sheets (sometimes stainless steel is used). It is desirable that the metal be primed and coated with a polymer, which will give it increased resistance to the effects of an aggressive external environment.

Lift-type sectional doors, consisting of sections, can be not only solid, but also panoramic - when transparent inserts of double-glazed windows made of high-strength glass are made in the panels (and also have a wicket door). This design allows you to open an overview of what is inside the room - this is important for car dealerships and any other trading platforms that must attract the buyer by showing him their product.

All mechanisms of sectional metal gates must comply with international safety standards and provide protection against pinching, including fingers, from uncontrolled movement of the door leaf and its falling, and also guarantee safe operation so that it is impossible to get hurt individual elements designs.

Trust the installation to professionals!

The durability and reliability of the sectional mechanism depends on the quality of the gate itself and on the level of professionalism of the specialists who carried out the installation. Even the most modern and expensive systems, if installed incorrectly, can threaten the safety of both the vehicle passing under them and the owner himself. Don’t tempt fate and don’t waste your money - sectional doors should be installed by professionals.

Standard set

By purchasing a standard kit, you will receive a set of elements for assembly (more than 25 items), which includes: the door leaf itself, guides, torsion shaft with springs, rollers, counterweight system, limiters, fittings and safety system devices...

By the way, before making an expensive purchase, accurately measure the opening in which you subsequently plan to mount the gate - the leaf should be wider and higher, since at the edges it will definitely press against the wall and the larger the gap, the more burglar-resistant the structure. On the sides, a distance of 15-20 cm is usually left, and a margin on top is 20-30 cm. Depending on the measurements taken, the sizes of all knots and parts are selected.

Preparation, assembly and installation

Installation of a sectional door system can be divided into several main stages:

  • preparing the opening (and, if necessary, strengthening it);
  • assembly of sectional doors;
  • installation;
  • checking the operation of all mechanisms.

Highly qualified specialists never begin installation until they have checked the opening itself. Its surface must be flat and smooth; even the slightest deviations vertically and horizontally are unacceptable, so slopes are checked with a level. A misalignment of even a couple of millimeters will lead to irreparable consequences.

If the walls are uneven, then when the sectional door is closed there will be drafts, because it is impossible to ensure a perfectly tight and airtight connection of the door leaf to the walls (shoulders and lintel). Therefore, it is necessary to plaster the surface.

The floor also needs improvement if its surface is not ideal and has uneven surfaces. Although the lower part of the gate is equipped with a special elastic seal, it still needs to rest on a surface that does not have protrusions and depressions, otherwise it will not be possible to achieve a tight closure.

If the walls are made of materials such as foam and aerated concrete, hollow ceramic blocks, then they first need to be reinforced (so that the fastenings do not fall out along with the gate structural elements) - usually a metal frame is used for these purposes.

Size matters

The height of the ceiling is also very great importance. The lintel is the part of the wall located between top part opening and ceiling. If you plan to install small gates (for example, 3x2.5 m) with an area of no more than 8 square meters. m., then the minimum permissible lintel height is 110 mm, but this is for gates with manually lifting, and for automatic ones it is required more space– 130 mm.

It is better to ensure in advance that there is a margin of lintel height so that automation can be installed later.

Small sectional doors are installed in private garages, but hangars or warehouses require larger dimensions of the door leaf, so the lintel height must be at least 210 mm.

Standard, low or high?

The door installation option depends on the size of the lintel: standard, low or high. The standard version assumes that the lintel has a height of 210 mm (or 250 mm if automatic) and torsion springs are located above the opening. If the ceiling is small - only 100 mm, then only low installation is possible. In this case, torsion springs with a shaft are located deep in the building.

With a ceiling height of 70 cm or more, high installation is carried out. On the one hand, this is convenient, since the gate, when open, will not hang over your head, but will be located much higher - right under the ceiling. But in cases where the ceilings are too high, long hangers will be needed, and from an aesthetic point of view, the structure will not look very attractive.

The best option, of course, is standard, since not all companies produce gate kits for low and high installation, which means you will have to pay extra.

Possible options

If the jumper between the ceiling and the upper part of the gate opening is too small, then it can be increased, but only if the height of the opening allows it. The opening is made lower, installing additional beam or metal profile.

If there is no lintel at all, it can be increased using metal corners or profiles, resulting in a false panel of the required height.

Attention to detail

It is very important that when installing the gate, do not use any non-original or even used parts - this is a safety hazard! And even new fittings, but from different manufacturers, must be selected taking into account its compatibility.

To ensure that all fasteners securely hold a fairly heavy structure, only metal spacers are used - neither polyurethane foam nor wooden wedges are acceptable.

Electric drive is comfort!

The presence of an electric drive increases the operating comfort of sectional doors, although they open manually without special effort, but automation allows you to control the process remotely without even leaving the car, which you will especially appreciate in winter or in bad weather. The standard range of the remote control is 30 m. The automatic drive also functions as a lock, preventing unauthorized opening of the gate. Do not be afraid to install automation, even in the event of possible power outages.

If there is no electricity, the gate can be opened and closed manually using the unlocking mechanism. This is done either directly from the room, or a special release is installed outside, with which you can switch the gate movement control to manual mode; naturally, the system is protected from unauthorized access.

Direct installation

So let's go straight back to installation work. After the opening is prepared, the frame is assembled, it is installed in its place, fixed, vertical and horizontal guides are mounted, hangers are attached, cables are tensioned, then sections of the door leaf are installed, the spring mechanism is adjusted and the electric drive is installed.

To check the quality of installation, you need to pay attention to the tight fit of the sectional door leaf around the entire perimeter of the opening - there should be no gaps, including at the very bottom. Having lowered the gate, turn off the light and see if there are any gaps somewhere - between the sections or in some other places, if not, then everything was done correctly. And, of course, you need to open and close the gate several times - the process should proceed smoothly without sudden jerks, jumps, and especially not be accompanied by any sounds: grinding or squeaking.

The mechanism here may not be very complex, but the canvas is quite heavy (from 100 to 300 kg) and if installed incorrectly, trouble-free operation of the entire system cannot be guaranteed, so entrust the installation to specialists. Our company’s employees will carry out installation quickly, efficiently, with a guarantee and in the most short time. Call, our managers will answer all your questions, leave a request for installation work.

Sectional overhead doors are installed in garages, utility buildings, and other technical rooms. They are convenient because when opened they simply rise up, without requiring free space in front of the canvas. Another plus is that there are insulated models that have the same thermal insulation characteristics How Brick wall one and a half bricks. And another important note - the installation of sectional doors can be done independently, with your own hands. Preferably with an assistant. It will be more difficult to cope “with one hand,” but it is also possible. Just keep in mind: when self-installation It will take not the 4 hours that professional installers spend, but much more... but you can definitely do it in a day.

Measurements and dimensions

Sectional doors are also called overhead sectional doors. This name is due to the structure and principle of operation. The door leaf consists of separate sections, movably connected to each other. Hence the word “sectional” in the name. When opened, the sections move upward along the guides, smoothly moving to the ceiling. When open, they are held on the ceiling. And this is the reason why they add the word “lifting” - they rise up.

These are all the necessary measurements. As you can see, everything is not difficult. But it is very important that the gate opening is smooth, without significant deviations. The condition of the floor and ceiling (in the area where the gate is installed) is also important. For the ceiling, it is important to align the part on which the ceiling guides will be mounted. The floor must also be level so that the frame does not warp. If there are irregularities, you will have to prepare the gate opening, only then take repeated measurements and order the gate.

Requirements for the opening and its preparation

Installation of sectional doors requires preliminary preparation of the opening. The opening, firstly, must have sufficient load-bearing capacity, secondly, there must be enough space on the sides and at the top for installing guides, and thirdly, it must be level. Let's sort it out in order.

Load-bearing capacity and methods for adjusting it

If the walls to which the sectional doors will be attached are made of solid brick, concrete, cinder block, even shell rock, fastening the guides is possible. For these materials, anchors or dowels are usually used. It’s worse if the walls are made of hollow slotted bricks or foam blocks. You cannot install a heavy structure in them without modification. We'll have to reinforce the opening. There are two ways:

  • Reinforce the opening using metal corners and attach the system to them. Everything will hold up, but the costs are high.
  • Plaster the walls and try to attach to the plaster joint. If something goes wrong, you can still use chemical anchors. This option is cheaper, but not the most reliable, so it is better not to use it.

Towards strengthening bearing capacity It’s better to take the walls seriously and make a frame from the corners. Yes, it is not cheap, but the gates are not installed for one day, and not for one year, so the costs are justified.

If you plan to heat the garage, when reinforcing it with corners, do not forget to put thermal insulation under the metal. In this case, fiberglass cardboard is best. With a small thickness, it prevents heat leakage well.

If there is not enough space to install the structure

It also happens that there is not enough space at the top or on the sides to install the structure. If the ceiling is too small, there is a standard solution - a false panel. It is made of the same material as the gate leaf and is attached to the opening load-bearing beam. This reduces the height of the gate, but makes it possible to install a standard lift system that is more convenient to install.

It also happens that there is not enough distance not only at the top, but also on the sides. Metal garages usually suffer from this disease.

The most convenient method for correcting the dimensions of the gate opening in this case is to weld a profiled pipe of the required cross-section around the perimeter. The section is chosen so that there is enough space both at the top and on the sides. Another option is to do as in the photo above - make the gate not the entire width of the garage.

Aligning the opening and ceiling

In addition to the load-bearing capacity and parameters of the opening, it is necessary to check that its surface is even and smooth. The walls around the opening and two stripes on the ceiling must also be aligned. A system of guides will be attached to them; they should all be level and lie in the same plane.

The minimum strip width on which there should be no deviations is 210 mm. This is when installing the standard configuration and standard lift. Other systems require a little more. So you can output about 300 mm at once. You really can't go wrong.

To level walls made of concrete, brick, and building blocks, they are used. The surface is checked in all planes. Installation of sectional doors begins after the plaster solution has dried.

Installation of sectional doors with tension springs: sequence of actions with step-by-step photos

Sectional designs overhead gates There are some differences between different manufacturers, but in general the procedure for their assembly and installation is similar. The method of attachment and other minor details may differ, but the principles are very similar. As an example, the installation of sectional doors from the Belarusian company Alutex (Alutech) will be described.

The Belarusian company Alutex (Alutech) has a good reputation. For quite reasonable money we get good quality sectional doors. All holes are drilled and fasteners included the right size, in the required quantity. When assembled, everything matches, the installation of sectional doors from this company usually goes without problems.

First, you need to unpack everything, lay it out, check that it is complete, read the assembly instructions, carefully examine the design, accompanying drawings and explanations. Take the time to study the instructions in detail. It will be easier during the installation process, you will spend less nerves.

Assembling and attaching vertical guides

The installation of sectional doors begins with the installation of a frame along which the sections - guides - move. The ease and trouble-free movement of the sections and the tightness of their fit to each other depend on how level they stand. During installation, it is necessary to constantly monitor the vertical and horizontal. You can do this normally building level, but much more convenient than laser ones. You can expand two planes and set them at the required level. Glowing bright stripes will serve as a guide. Any deviation is immediately noticeable.

  • At a height of 1 m from the floor level, we place marks on the wall near the opening.
  • We assemble a frame from load-bearing frames that are attached to the doorway.
  • We attach the guides to the opening.
  • Installation of rack fasteners.

Once again, we draw attention to the fact that the racks must be strictly vertical and must be in the same plane.

Installing ceiling guides

Ceiling guides are attached to the ceiling using special telescopic hangers. It is convenient to set the plane with them - the height of the suspension is adjusted with a screw that slides in a long slot. There are several types of hangers different heights lintels. For standard/low installation and ceiling heights up to 300 mm, use CS1 hangers. There is also CS2 - 500 mm long, CS3 - 800 mm, CS4 - 1000 mm, CS5 - 1500 mm. They are attached to the ceiling and set to the required height. If too much of the suspension sticks out, cut it off, leaving a couple of centimeters below the installed fixing bolt.

Ceiling guides have a characteristic shape - curved on one side.

Attaching the ceiling rails to the ceiling is described at the beginning of the paragraph. It is important to set them straight. They are attached in pairs. The first is at a distance of 900 mm from the opening, the second is at a distance of 300 mm from the opposite edge.

Before fastening and after, we check the diagonals (must match up to a millimeter) and the horizontalness of each part.

Installation of sections (assembling the canvas)

After assembling the frame, we assemble the gate leaf. You will need the sections themselves, hinges/rollers and fasteners (6.3*16 mm). Distinctive feature Alutech sectional doors have just these very hinges combined with rollers. Installation with them is easier, the sliding of the canvas is smoother.

That's it, the installation of sectional doors is almost complete. All that remains is to assemble the lifting mechanism and controls.

Installing Controls

This loud phrase “controls” in a model with manual opening refers to the handle, spring lock and cables, by pulling which we lower the gate leaf down.

The last step remains - installing the spring and assembling the mechanism for raising/lowering the sectional door.

Assembly and installation of the lifting mechanism

Carefully lift the gate leaf and secure it with something open position. In this case, the lower edge of the blade should open the roller located at the very top of the guide.

That's all for sure now. The installation of sectional doors is complete and they are ready for use.

Sectional doors with a torsion spring are installed slightly differently. The difference can be seen in the demo video.

Automatic sectional doors are becoming more and more popular every year, and there are many reasons for this. In addition to being convenient and beautiful, the gate reliably protects the premises from burglary and unauthorized entry. The high level of security provided by sectional doors makes it possible to install them not only in garages, but also in industrial buildings, service centers and retail premises. However, installing sectional doors often costs almost half the cost of the structure itself, so many budget-conscious owners are thinking about installing it themselves. How to do this correctly and efficiently is described in detail below.

The massive popularization of sectional doors occurred due to the unique design that provides protection and sealing of the room. A standard system may also include electronic elements for remote control and other mechanisms such as alarms and motion sensors. As a rule, the design of sectional doors includes springs, several guide modules along which the door leaf “rides,” as well as a system for balancing this door leaf.

Sectional doors are best suited for a garage, since the area there is quite limited, and the design allows you to significantly save on space. Let's take for example the classic swing gates: When opening, the doors need a lot of free space in front of the garage, as well as a flat and clean area so that the bottom edge of the doors does not catch on anything. Sectional doors simply “go” under the ceiling, taking up unused space above.

As for the aesthetic component, it is also one of the primary factors in choosing sectional doors. The panels that make up the canvas can be selected in any color. Surfaces with textures like wood, masonry or stone, with painting and 3D 3D designs are also available for sale. During production, the panels themselves are treated with a special polymer substance that provides reliable protection metal from corrosion and increased service life. The inside of the panels is filled with thermal insulation foam that can withstand severe temperature changes.

The safety of operation is ensured by a special gate system, which allows the gate to be automatically locked in the lowered position. With careful use, the structure will last 10-15 years without replacing components.

So, let’s highlight the main advantages of sectional doors:

  • Ease of use;
  • space saving;
  • reliable protection against hacking and penetration;
  • additional thermal insulation of the room;
  • long service life;
  • aesthetics;
  • opportunity self-installation.

Do-it-yourself sectional gate installation

Many people rightly believe that sectional doors the best option to protect garages, retail and technical areas, and the possibility of self-installation without professional knowledge and skills makes the demand for such structures even greater. Despite the fact that installation from a professional team of an intermediary or manufacturer provides an additional guarantee of quality, many people prefer to assemble the gates themselves, saving a significant amount, sometimes reaching 30% of the total cost.

Similar “assemble it yourself” kits can be found from almost every company. They take into account standard garage entrance openings and, in accordance with these data, offer a wide range ready-made solutions various colors and with different accessories. And thanks to detailed information and numerous video instructions, you can easily learn how to assemble gates from any company.

There are two ways to get sectional garage doors:

  1. Buy a ready-made kit for self-assembly.
  2. Order the design with original dimensions directly from the manufacturer.

The latter option will cost more, but if you think about it, you will spend about the same amount of money on adjusting a non-standard entrance opening to the standard dimensions of the purchased gate. But it will take a lot more time and effort. It is much easier to contact the manufacturer and order a set of the required size.

Sectional door measurements

The dimensions of sectional doors must be selected based on the dimensions of the mounting plane. Taking accurate measurements ensures that you avoid a huge number of problems and overlaps that will arise during the installation process.

When measuring height, be sure to take readings in several places to eliminate the possibility of error. The same rule applies to width measurements. If you find significant differences in height or width, focus on the largest values. The gates will be installed from inside the room, which will provide additional thermal insulation.

Another important point is the parallelism of the walls on both sides of the entrance opening. The lintel height - the distance between the ceiling and the lintel - will allow you to find out which gate with which installation method will suit you. Optimal height the lintel is 20-22 cm.

After taking measurements and double-checking the data, you can buy gates or order their production at the factory.

Preparing the installation site for sectional doors

After purchasing or manufacturing sectional doors suitable sizes It is necessary to carry out a high-quality installation. To do this you will need a number of tools and detailed instructions.

What tools are needed to install sectional doors:

  • construction water level;
  • roulette;
  • hammer drill;
  • a set of drills for concrete and metal;
  • set of wrenches;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • pliers;
  • personal protective equipment (goggles, gloves).

How to properly prepare a site for installing overhead sectional doors:

  1. The first step is to remove the old cladding or paintwork from the opening.
  2. Then you need to install an amplifier metal structure. It is a kind of frame made of metal profiles.
  3. To make it convenient for you to work, and for the gate to function freely and uninterruptedly in the future, you need to leave a little space around the entrance opening. free space. On the sides 45-60 cm will be enough, and from top edge the opening to the ceiling should be 30-45 cm.
  4. When the opening is ready, you can transfer the installation diagram from the manufacturer to the existing plane.

Decisive factor high-quality installation is to maintain strict verticality of the opening. Sectional structures are extremely sensitive to even slight distortions, and if this is allowed, they will often break, and you will need to spend money on replacing power units and moving components.

To avoid such a development of events, it is necessary to mark the fixation points of the vertical and horizontal frame profiles as accurately as possible. Their job is to hold and guide the movement of the door panels. With the help of simple construction measuring instruments prepare and mark the attachment points of all load-bearing components of the structure.

Installation of sectional doors

When installing automatic sectional doors, under no circumstances should you align the horizontal and vertical of the guides or frame using construction foam, wooden or steel pegs. Similar methods are applicable for any stationary structures such as windows, door frames, window sills, but in our case we're talking about about blade guides that will be regularly subjected to mechanical stress. Any supports under such operating conditions will quickly become loose and fall out, and when this happens, the gate will break. For such purposes, special metal gaskets are used that firmly fix all the parts.

Helpful advice: During installation, check the instructions from the manufacturer of your gate for technical features designs. Please note that the installation instructions outlined below are universal and generalized, and therefore can be considered as an approximate procedure.

How to install sectional doors yourself:

  1. Secure the bottom lamella.
  2. Capture everything load-bearing elements in accordance with step by step instructions from the manufacturer (instructions on the packaging or in the documentation for the gate).
  3. Collect the canvas.
  4. After securing all sections, check whether the sash, which is located at the very top of the structure, fits tightly.
  5. Adjust all brackets.
  6. Install and secure all gate control mechanisms (automation, sensors), as well as hinged fittings (locks, bolts, handles).
  7. Tension the cables and adjust the spring tension.
  8. Secure the electrical wiring and install the section travel limiter.
  9. Make a test run to check the door's running quality. Open and close them several times - the canvas should move evenly and smoothly, nothing should interfere with it.

If you did everything according to the instructions, then you don’t have to worry about repairs for the next few years. Nevertheless, it is worth regularly checking the main components, lubricating and cleaning them if necessary. Then the gate will serve you for at least 10 years. During operation, try to avoid mechanical damage to the frame and canvas.

Accessories used

In conclusion, I would like to mention the fittings used during the installation process. Experts strongly do not recommend using used parts, even if they are offered to you for free. If you want to take accessories from another manufacturer, first check its compatibility with the main design.

The most important thing is to assemble the doors, following the instructions in the “original” drawings from the manufacturer. The standard set includes over 25 fittings. Please check this point carefully when purchasing (the list of accessories must be indicated in the documents for the gate). Additionally, you can purchase and install a system on the gate that prevents accidental pinching of fingers and insures the rupture of the cable and spring.

By assembling sectional doors yourself, you not only save money on installation, but also get an excellent opportunity to equip the structure with any automation and decorate it according to your personal tastes. Using decorative elements gates can become a real decoration of the facade of the house. It is not at all necessary to install classic smooth white sections - you can replace them with paneled or wavy ones. You can also install small decorative windows in them, which will not only “revive” the appearance, but will become an additional source of light in the garage.

Experience in installing sectional doors yourself will be extremely useful to any owner of such a structure, as it will save time and money on subsequent maintenance. Simply put, if it breaks down, you will know what the reason is and how to fix it.
