Any door begins to creak over time. This creaking appears about two years after installing a new door. Factory lubricant is just enough for this period.

Entrance doors begin to creak much earlier. The conditions of their detention are not very favorable. They have to work in dust and severe frosts. They are watered by rain. They experience constant mechanical stress.

Before you learn how to install interior doors, you need to understand the reason for the creaking. Further technological operations depend on this.

Why does the door squeak?

There are several reasons for the unpleasant sound:

1. Lack of lubrication. Gradually the lubricant dries out or becomes thick. Depends on the conditions of detention. When there is not enough lubrication, the parts cannot move freely, they become rubbed, the mechanism is blocked, and the hinges break.
2. Parts become covered with rust. This is a common problem with entry doors. In the case of interior structures, only high humidity causes corrosion. The hinges begin to creak, the metal gradually collapses.
3. Wear of parts. This applies to any element of an interior door. Time does its work. The parts gradually wear out. They will have to be replaced; they cannot be restored.
4. There are times when dust gets inside the hinge, it clogs the hinge mechanism, increasing wear. An unlubricated hinge makes a nasty squeak.
5. When the door structure is installed with errors, misalignment may occur. As a result, the door frame becomes loose and the outline of the door leaf changes.

Types of lubrication

To treat interior doors, use the following oil:

• machine,
• diesel,
• special, designed for lubricating sewing machines.

An alternative material will be greases based on petroleum oils:

• Tsiatim,
• Litol,
• Solid oil.

WD-40 aerosol is considered an excellent modern remedy for combating squeaking. Motorists have been using it for a long time. It has many varieties that are sold in hardware or automotive stores.

To deliver the lubricant to a specific point, the can is equipped with a special tube. WD-40 contains:

• White Spirit,
• mineral oil,
• liquefied petroleum gas,
• special additives.

There are many special lubricants that are considered universal. To treat the door, spray lubricant onto the problem area of ​​the interior door:

• door lock,
• loop connections.

To prevent the floor covering from being damaged, it is advisable to cover it with material or a paper towel before applying.

Folk lubricants

We only think about door hinges when we hear an unpleasant squeak. At this moment, there is never a single aerosol or store-bought lubricant at home. To solve this problem with improvised means, people came up with the following methods:

• Automotive sewing. Sewing machine oil is suitable for lubrication. Perfectly lubricates hinges and automobile oil.
• Culinary method. To do this, take ordinary unrefined sunflower oil. A few drops of this liquid and the creaking in the hinges will disappear, but not for long. Therefore, this method is called short-term. The fact is that the viscosity of such oil has a low coefficient, it will drain quickly and after two days the loop will begin to creak again.

To urgently solve the problem of squeaking hinges, you can use used machine oil. Motorists call it “working off.” Almost every car owner has some of this kind of waste in his garage.

As mentioned above, the sewing machine must be processed. For this, a special sewing oil can is used. Its narrow beak penetrates into any problem area. By touching the joint of the hinge parts, you can immediately lubricate its axis. After application there are no dirty marks left.

Technological process of lubrication of hinges

The sequence of actions for the door remains unchanged. The only exception is the pencil method.

First the door opens completely. To prevent it from moving and to rise a little, a stop is placed under it. This could be an ordinary rolling pin or an ax handle.

As a result, the blade will rise and the hinge pin will come out of the socket. Lubricant is injected into the loop. If it has a bottle design, then it is better to process it using a pipette or an ordinary pharmaceutical syringe. In this case, a needle is not needed.

A few drops of oil are taken into the syringe and gently dripped into the hole.

When lubricating with a spray can, you need to put a narrow nozzle on it. Then spray the entire loop. In order not to stain the door leaf, you can cover it with plastic film.

When performing such work without an assistant, so that the protection does not fall off, it is fixed with mounting tape.

After lubrication, the stop is removed and the hinge pin is returned to its place. To ensure that the lubricant gets onto all internal surfaces, the blade must be moved left and right. If the squeak has completely disappeared, you can close the can and hide it in a secluded place. If the creak remains, all steps are repeated.

Lubricating the bent hinge

It is possible to lubricate such a structure, but a lot of lubricant will flow down the fittings. As a result, the creaking will not completely disappear; it will still bother the home owners.

There is only one way out of this situation - buy similar hinges at a hardware store. Of course, you can buy other types of hinges, but they may not be suitable; you will have to adjust the fabric to the new parts.

Replacing the hinges is carried out with an assistant. It will hold the canvas until you free the hinges from the screws. After removing the top hinge, do not let the door fall. It can tear out the bottom hinge and damage the door block, which will cause a lot of additional problems.

New equipment is attached to a specific place without making any bending. When fixing the door, maintain verticality. It should move freely, without distortion.
