Characteristics of double-glazed windows. Types, description

Windows with wooden double frames are gradually becoming a thing of the past and becoming history in the construction business. They were replaced by plastic windows with double-glazed windows, the advantage of which was immediately appreciated by everyone. It has become warmer in the apartments, it is not necessary, and the sounds from the street almost do not penetrate. New windows have become more compact, consisting of only one frame and two glasses, however, there may be more than two. Glasses are attached to a special spacer, forming a cavity, which is filled with dry air, sometimes an inert argon gas is used for this purpose. Such a glass system is called double-glazed window, and the cavity camera.

The camera provides plastic windows with thermal insulation and sound insulation, and at the same time additional comfort in the apartment. The double-glazed window solved two problems at once and thus improved living conditions. However, he has one more good quality - he does not let dust through, as a result, the air in the apartment is much cleaner.

Now we will reveal the characteristics of the distance frame itself, which gave the windows new qualities. It is made of galvanized steel or plastic, on the outside it is covered with sealants that firmly hold the glass together. The frame is hollow, inside it is a desiccant that absorbs moisture. The desiccant contains silica gel, molecular sieve, or mixtures thereof.

Single-chamber double-glazed window with a frame between the panes.

Most often, windows are installed with. Such windows are quite suitable for the middle latitudes of Russia. For the northern regions, there are more insulated windows with a large number of cameras. The number of chambers is determined by the number of glass joints. A double-glazed window, which consists of two glasses forming one connection, is called single-chamber. Accordingly, a double-glazed window with three glasses and two of their connections will be called a two-chamber, etc. The more chambers in a double-glazed window, the less it passes cold air into the apartment.

The thickness of a double-glazed window depends on how many glasses are in it. A double-glazed window in a plastic window occupies approximately 80% of the total area. Its dimensions depend on the individual dimensions of the profile and the presence of valves in it. The shape of the double-glazed window also depends on the shape of the profile, which is made according to individual sizes and the shape of the window, which can be square, arched, round, rectangular, etc. In addition, depending on the desired technical characteristics, double-glazed windows are used. They are mirrored, matte, tinted, triplex, energy-saving.

Double-glazed windows, depending on the purpose of their use, are divided into the following types: armored, energy-saving, soundproof. The armored double-glazed window is made of reinforced laminated silicate glass, the layers of which contain polyurethane, polycarbonate and methyl methacrylate. Such a double-glazed window withstands blows of different forces.

An energy-saving double-glazed window is made of glass, on the inner surfaces of which silver ions are sprayed, and chambers. This double-glazed window not only has excellent heat-saving properties, but also in the hot season is able to keep cool in the room due to good heat reflection. However, such a double-glazed window loses its positive qualities over time due to the evaporation of argon. Noise-insulating double-glazed windows are made of glasses of different thicknesses. It is about two millimeters, but this is enough to reduce the penetration of noise into the room from the street.

Concerning thickness and characteristics of glasses in double-glazed windows, then we can say the following - in a single-chamber double-glazed window, glasses are usually used, the thickness of which is from 4 to 7 millimeters. However, glass with a thickness of 7 mm is not used so often, mainly glass from 4 to 6 millimeters is taken. The distance frame keeps the glass from each other at a distance of 12 to 16 millimeters. When you should pay attention to the formula in which all these data are written. In the formula for single-chamber glass, the following numbers can be entered: 4-16-4. The number 4 indicates the thickness of the glasses, the number 16 means that the glasses are at such a distance from each other, that is, this is the thickness of the distance frame. The thickness of a single-chamber double-glazed window is 24 millimeters.
