Double glazing options

Plastic windows consist of several elements, but the main thing is still glass, it is it that provides the window with transparency. Double-glazed windows in PVC windows can consist of two or more glasses. This is done in order to provide good thermal insulation in the room. When ordering the manufacture of PVC windows, first of all, you need to figure out what double-glazed windows are and what is the difference, discuss the formula of a double-glazed window with the manufacturer - since the characteristics of the future window largely depend on it.

The choice of glasses and their quantity directly depends on the climatic zone of the region where you are. Thick glasses are suitable for harsh climates, while thinner and lighter glasses are suitable for hot regions.

In this article, we will try to answer the question

Double-glazed windows: types and features

In the production of double-glazed windows, different types of glass are used. This allows you to provide special performance characteristics of products. Let us consider in more detail what double-glazed windows are for plastic windows:

1. Ordinary double-glazed windows with float glass. Such glass is ideally smooth, with maximum transparency, has no flaws. Ordinary glass of high quality, the light transmittance of which is high. It does not differ in any special characteristics.

2. Multifunctional double-glazed window. It's a real climate control system. Its functions include protection from UV rays in the hot season, as well as keeping warm when it's cold outside. Such glasses help to reduce the cost of heat energy in winter, as well as air conditioning in summer.

3. Self-cleaning double-glazed window. They help to minimize the time spent on maintenance of double-glazed windows. Glasses are covered with a special composition: it destroys dirt when the rays of the sun fall on it. The remains are washed away by rain: streaks and stains do not form.

4. Noise-insulating double-glazed window. This is a reliable and effective protection of the premises from street noise. Double-glazed windows are equipped with glass, the thickness of which is increased, and the gap between them is chosen to be of the optimal width. In this case, a profile is used that has an increased quality, in which all elements fit snugly against each other. Thus, during the installation process, absolutely tight joints are obtained.

5. Mirror glass. A feature of reflective glass is the combination of the advantages of ordinary and colored glasses. Such glasses limit the penetration of heat into the building, while they themselves do not heat up, and light can pass into the room unhindered. Such double-glazed windows are the ideal solution in hot conditions.

6. Colored double-glazed window. Colored glass can be used instead of tinted glass. It is completely transparent, but at the same time retains light and heat. Depending on the shade, their properties differ.

7. Tinted glass. A special film is glued onto the glass, which prevents direct sunlight, excessive heat and light from penetrating inside the building. This is especially important in regions with a hot climate. These glasses are distinguished by high light absorption parameters and increased strength.

8. Double-glazed window with smart glass. Such glasses are able to change their transparency and thermal conductivity parameters when external conditions change: illumination, temperature, and other parameters. This reduces the cost of heating and lowering the room temperature. Self-cleaning and electrically heated windows fall into this category.

9. Energy-saving double-glazed window with k-glass. The use of a hard k-coating, which is applied to glasses during their production, makes it possible to obtain a special product. Glass looks like ordinary glass, but its thermal insulation characteristics are higher, the transmission of the heat of the sun is optimal. Such glasses are resistant to mechanical stress, so they can be placed on the outside of the double-glazed window.

10. Energy-saving double-glazed window with i-glass. The finished glass is covered with a soft i-coating, which is a layer of silver. Such glass can be easily deformed, so it is usually placed inside a double-glazed window. The use of such a double-glazed window allows you to increase the degree of comfort in the room, reduce energy costs. This makes the use of such a product very effective even in the design of a single-chamber double-glazed window.

11. Double-glazed window with triplex glass. During its manufacture, a multilayer structure is created, including several glasses, between which there are layers - a transparent invisible polymer. The ability of glass to transmit light is not reduced. However, it becomes more durable, its fire resistance increases, as well as the properties of the insulator. In the process of heat treatment, all these qualities of the product are improved. If such glass breaks, then sharp fragments are not formed. However, it cannot be processed mechanically. In addition, its insulating parameters are not very high.

Double-glazed windows are used not only in the production of plastic windows, they are also used in the production of modern wooden windows and window structures from a warm aluminum profile.

Double-glazed window formula, or what are double-glazed windows in thickness

The most popular PVC window formula is 4x16x4=24, which means that the double-glazed window consists of two panes, each four millimeters thick, and between them there is an air space, or chamber, of sixteen millimeters. This formula is used in the manufacture of plastic windows for residential premises and is the state quality standard.

There are options for manufacturing other double-glazed windows, with thicker glass, for example, or you can make more glasses in quantity. It is very important that each of them correspond to the required dimensions, which are measured by the manufacturer's specialists. The formulas of double-glazed windows for windows that have a large wind load are carefully compiled. It can be shop windows, facades or roofs.

Also double-glazed windows differ in the number of chambers and the distance between the glasses themselves. In a double-glazed window with three panes, there will thus be two air chambers. For example, 4x12x4x16x4 - this formula indicates that the double-glazed window has a thickness of forty millimeters and consists of three glasses of four millimeters each. The more air chambers in a double-glazed window, the higher its properties of thermal insulation and sound insulation.
