Types of double-glazed windows. Device, difference, composition, types of glasses

A double-glazed window is a transparent part of a window design, through which a light flux penetrates into the room. The product is designed to be inserted into a PVC frame and consists of several panes that are hermetically bonded to each other using a given technological sequence.

Purpose of double-glazed windows

  • Increasing the thermal insulation of the premises by reducing heat losses that "slip" into the street through the installed plastic windows.
  • Minimizing the possibility of intruders entering through the window opening.
  • Reducing the ingress of extraneous noise from the street.
  • Protection of premises, whether it is: an apartment, a balcony or a loggia from the manifestations of bad weather.

Glass unit.

double glazing- a single structure consisting of several glasses spaced from each other at a certain distance, enclosed at the edges by a common frame. Well-known window manufacturers fill the space between the panes with granules that can absorb excess moisture passing through them. In addition, the frame of the double-glazed window itself has small so-called dehydration holes, which serve to more effectively remove the humid environment from the inside of the product.

The level of permeability of the frame provided for by the manufacturing technology is ensured by the use of appropriate sealants. The filling of the structure of a multi-chamber double-glazed window is carried out either with dry air or with an inert substance in a gaseous state.

The technical characteristics of double-glazed windows, regardless of the number of chambers, are better with gas pumped into them than with dry air. However, after several years of operation, it may be necessary to replenish the stocks of an inert substance, due to the fact that the substance tends to volatilize over time, even despite its quality.

The difference between double glazing.

The distinctive features of double-glazed windows are determined mainly by the number of chambers that it has.

  1. Single pane glass. In its design, it contains two glasses that form one chamber. The characteristics of such a product depend on the thickness of the glasses, the width of the chamber between them and the presence of various films on the glasses (or their absence), the purpose of which may vary - some can be energy-saving, others protective, others tinted.
  2. Double glazing. It consists of a frame and three glasses, between which there are two cameras. The technical characteristics of this option due to the presence of a larger number of glasses are an order of magnitude higher than those of its single-chamber counterpart. Starting with two-chamber, the design solutions used in double-glazed windows provide for different thicknesses of glass and different widths of the space between the chambers. This solution allows to reduce the heat loss of the room with modern two-chamber plastic windows installed in it.
  3. . It differs from the two-chamber one by the number of glasses installed in its design. Of course, companies that supply and install PVC windows can offer the buyer a double-glazed window with a large number of cameras, but the feasibility of installing this option raises serious doubts in terms of the price / quality ratio of the protection provided.

It can also be noted that the substance injected between the panes of double-glazed windows is usually one of three types, namely:

  • inert gas;
  • dry air;
  • sulfur hexafluoride.

What are double-glazed windows.

Before deciding to buy a window, regardless of what it will be - a plastic or wooden euro-window, you need to know the types of double-glazed windows existing for them. Based on the needs, the installation of one or another instance will help the owner of the room to create additional comfort and coziness in the room, so it is so important to have comprehensive information on how to choose the right double-glazed window for a plastic window.

Impact resistant glass.

These products consist of the so-called "Triplex" system, which includes several glasses covered with a special film and capable of withstanding strong mechanical stress. When a heavy object enters the window, glass fragments are not subjected to a strong spread, but remain centrally in the design of the double-glazed window.

Energy saving double glazing.

To increase the energy efficiency of the window, the cavity between the panes of the double-glazed window is filled with argon or krypton. At the same time, in order to achieve the desired energy efficiency of the entire structure, it is necessary to endow only one of the glasses installed in it with special characteristics.

In modern energy-saving double-glazed windows, two types of glass are widely used, which directly affect the increase in the heat-saving properties of the structure as a whole.

1. i-glass. Their production takes place in the following sequence: using vacuum deposition, a film-forming layer is applied to the glass surface, consisting of special components, designed to ensure effective reflection of thermal waves from the surface of the double-glazed window. To determine the heat losses occurring through the glass, there is a so-called indicator of the emitter (from the English. Emission - emission). This indicator indicates the ability of glass to reflect thermal energy back into the room. For a standard one, it is 0.83, and for an energy-saving one, it is 0.004. The lower the value, the less heat seeps through the windows to the street. Thus, after simple calculations, it can be noted that energy-saving double-glazed windows retain heat more efficiently (up to 90%).
2. k-glass. For them, the distinguishing factor is the presence of a special hard coating, designed to provide protection from infrared rays entering through such glass.

Solar control windows.

In the first embodiment, they are based on reflective glass. The properties inherent in it allow it to reflect ultraviolet rays according to the mirror principle.
In the second case, it can be used, processed in a special thermal way. This solution has increased strength and good wear resistance.

Frost-resistant double-glazed windows.

As the name implies, such double-glazed windows are designed for operation in regions where the winter climate is characterized by particularly low temperatures. At the same time, fogging of such double-glazed windows occurs at a lower temperature than usual (at -55, versus -35 degrees Celsius).

Noise-protective double-glazed windows.

Due to the fact that the dimensions of the space between the glasses of one chamber differ from the other / the rest, the rooms installed in the window opening absorb more extraneous sounds penetrating from the street. At the same time, soundproofing is further enhanced by the use of the Triplex system, as well as glasses, where resin acts as an insulating layer.

When choosing a suitable double-glazed window, buyers usually pay attention to:

  • Number of installed cameras;
  • The thickness of the glass block;
  • Thermal conductivity;
  • Soundproof.

The listed components have the main influence in the formation of the price of a double-glazed window. Therefore, even before ordering a modern plastic euro-window, decide on the presence of certain functions in it. In any case, it is necessary to opt for the products of the best PVC window manufacturers that have been proven over the years. The right choice!
